- Can I beat Pokémon Emerald with only Flying Types using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first Flying Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause); This includes Pokémon that evolve INTO Flying types, but does NOT include non-Flying Pokémon that evolved from Flying types!
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Flannery's AI doesn't see a kill with Overheat, and since Pelipper resists Fire, that removes Overheat from being the AI's priority and it starts randomly choosing moves until it sees a win condition. That's how the AI handles setup combos like Sunny Day into Overheat AFAIK.
This man never misses. Every one of these nuzlocke runs is insanely fun.

@@riggerzagain3444 Well, EVs are not Pokémon you can just choose to not use, they're in the game to stay, so you can't play without them, it's not possible unless you play the baby game that is Let's Go, so why not use em effectively?

Also, Gyarados is Flying type due to the type being the closest type to Dragon. If Gyarados was Water/Dragon in Gen 1 it would have no weakness since Dragon Rage couldn't do super effective damage.
You should tell that to psychic types. Even if ghost wasn’t bugged and bug had strong moves, the only Pokémon with offensive ghost/bug moves are part poison or jolteon with low attack
They should’ve just increased magikarp’s evolution level and kept gyarados as a dragon type to increase the incentive of sticking with such a useless fish.

Yo I was just rewatching your nocturnal Pokémon vids, and your work inspired me to map out all the steel type Pokémon in Platinum and try a steel type nuzlocke. Currently it’s just a piplup and a pineco against gardenia, but it should work out
Oh the body slam over overheat. Fun fact the AI in gen 3 cheats, it actually knows the damage rolls and if a status affliction will go off before it chooses it’s moves, so yeah it probably saw the paralysis.
The ONLY time a move is certain is if the AI sees a kill. Other wise it’s random between status/buff and the highest damage attack. Which probably explains the attract.
Don’t take this as gospel though, I could be wrong, it’s just what seems true from playing emerald Kaiso

I do love guts boosted pokemon. To the point that if I catch one, once the encounter table shows a pokemon with ember or poison sting, I'll pkhex a flame orb onto it, rather than seeking that pokemon out. Great video!

I was literally having an inner conflict about how to pronounce "facade". I realised now as an adult the move was an actual word you pronounce differently but I couldn't let go of how I pronounced it as a kid so it stays that way for me😅

What I've been doing is mimicing the gym leaders monotype when I fight them- I'm playing Heart Gold, so for Falkner I have to use a Flying Team, and than for Bugys I need to raise a Bug Team and so on. For the E4 My team has to include 1 Psychic, 1 Poison, 1 Fighting, 1 Dark, 1 Dragon for each of their types + my starter! So far I'm grinding up to battle Whitney.
