Just took mine out on Saturday for the first time. Took some use getting in and out, but loved the ride! I will post again once I get into the bay and actually go fishing! Thanks for the review!
Awesome! Glad to hear you got one! Let me know how it handles in the bay. I am planning some salt water trips this spring/summer and will be taking mine out! So far I have only had it in Pensacola Bay for a short time. Did good there, but it was pretty much like a big lake with strong current lol. Thanks for watching!
Great, realistic review of a boat with some battle scars and some miles on the clock. That's a tough yak. I have an old Perception sit-inside yak that an idiot friend of my son managed to dump out of my truck and drag down the road by a chain looped under the seat. It suffered some superficial scratches and a crack in the seat support, but was fine otherwise. I still have the boat 20 years later.
lol THAT IS AWESOME! I hav e3 different yaks and I have to say the Perception yaks are some beasts they really do hold up! thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
You’ve put that yak through the ringer for sure. If the lakes by me weren’t so shallow and full of random trees I’d get a peddler. Great video brother.
LOL that was a crazy trip, What was supposed to take a round trip total of 3-4 hours ended up taking 8-10! I am horrible at logistics I guess. Thanks so much for watching!
I was thinking REALLY hard last spring about getting one of these, but time got away from me so THIS will be the year of the pilot!! Come spring I WILL have a Perception Pescador Pilot 12.0 or BUST!!!
Got the same one for 800$ and the Striker for I think 3-350$ and a canoe for 250$ at a fall sale. Sucked because I waited all summer drooling over the pilot but planned on a striker because I couldn't afford 1800$. But it was worth the wait. But I've only had the striker and the canoe out last fall.a few times. Also bought a trailer for a 100$ that I'm customizing for my kayaks and my Yamaha tw200 for this summer. Plus picked up a low mileage 03 ranger to tow it all lol. Now I'm in gearing up mode. $$$$ and time $$$$ and time. Cant wait to get them on the back waters of the Mississippi come spring.
WOW! 800 is a HECK of a deal! Id buy another one for sure for 800!. I got mine for 1600 with a 300 paddle and tax included so I got a pretty good deal on mine. Had to drive a round trip of 10 hours lol but it was worth it. You need to send some pics or upload a video of your setup when you get it done, Id love to see it. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the kind comment! No I just used the same type of decals that you would get for a car window... although some will try to peel in the cold weather on occassion
If I made a box to store this yack in . Can it be stored standing up on its nose or tail? What if I support it by rope inside the box 13' tall? A storage shed with roofing tar paper panels. And hinged doors.
You might be able to stand it up on its end, maybe, The only problem with standing it up on the rear or stern would be the Rudder, if you get it too straight up and down the rudder will hit and that wouldn't be good. It is a total of 12' 6" long so 13 foot should be plenty, however keep in mind these arent the lightest of yaks. I up-end mine every so often to drain it and it is quite the work out for one person. But with that being said, if you can manage to store it then I would make the purchase, this is an amazing yak. Good luck!
Just got my Peception pilot last fall and haven't really had it out but a couple of times testing it out. Since you made this video are you still enjoying the yak? I can't wait to see how it does fishing and hanging out in the water for hours.
Yes I absolutely love my Pilot! I haven't got to take it out a whole lot this last month or so due to the weather and a death in the family but other than that I take it out every chance I get!! Thanks for watching!
Holding up great! Sending this to my buddy. He’s looking for one. I’d whip somebodys butt if I caught them undoing my straps! Hate that happened to you. Awesome video!
Yeah when we were walking back to the truck we seen a suspicious looking character walking unusually close to the truck and trailer, from how it was parked it really was unnecessary for him to be that close. And that is the only explanation I could think of. I have ran this thing on a trailer for several days without checking the straps and never had them loosen up on me.
You are the second person that told me about that sale! That is JUST AMAZING. I would go but another one if I had an Academy Sports near me. CONGRATS! on the New Yak AND CONGRATS on the hustle for making your $$ Back! Bravo
Have u had any problems with the pedal drive I've heard of people saying that they broke and had to be sent back I've also heard they had a recall on them
The only problem I have had is where I bent the bolt that holds the Drive in place. I was cruising in about 10 feet of water and hit a stump at about 3.5 mph... Didn't break the prop or affect the drive in any way so that is great news, the drive itself is super sturdy. just bent the little 5 inch bolt that you remove to lower and raise the drive. I haven't heard of the drive giving any problems since the recall. They 'recalled" the drive after the first couple months of release. They sent everyone who bought the yak a new drive at no cost. not sure what the problem was but it was in the first two months of this yak coming out. if you have bought this after February of 2017 then it comes with the new drive so there is nothing to worry about. I absolutely love this yak, and for the price you cannot complain! I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for watching!
