Hey buddy, very informative video: Thank you. If I may offer one small piece of advice, I have been a long time cyclist and since a pedal kayak is essentially cycling you will do your knees, lower back and hips a HUGE favor by moving your seat up an inch or two. You never want to have your legs fully locked out straight on the down stroke when pedaling. Do a RUclips search for setting up a bicycle, fitting a bicycle to the rider etc. Thank you again for your expertise on pedal kayaks.
I’ve been eyeing these pedal kayaks and they all seem to have longer crank arms than a bicycle. I think the kayak standard is about 200mm vs 175. Seems to me they’d be more comfortable with some shorter crank arms.
@@alexrosentreter7765 possibly so, but the resistance of longer crank arms on a kayak I imagine is lots less than on a bike especially going up hill. Either way, the point made was body position while pedaling irrespective of crank length.
Love the video. Im overcoming medical limitations and have decided to start kayaking and canoeing for therapy since i can handle more cardio now. I virtually school my 8th grade son and we're ready to fish this fall. I have knee issues but i like the pedal system if im sitting closer to the pedals. But, can a troll motor be added? The lake we go to here in Alabama have troll motors on the rental canoes. Thanks again.
Thank you for the video and also all the comments. Been thinking a lot about getting a kayak when none of my friend buddy can go and to much work taking boat out soloing.
I put a 1x 4 across it and drill 4 holes on the end of it and tie 2 tether balls on each side so i can stand up and do buisess without tumping over . Its stable enough the kids can dive off the end of the board.
I own 2 of these, they maneuver pretty well, decently stable, handles rough water decently, the wheels on the back makes moving it around nice, and on the 1st of april you will be able to get more video of them on the water, providing these winds go away
Academy Sports and Outdoors has a Magellan Outdoors Pro Pedal Drive Kayak for $1,139.00 at the time of this posting. I haven't seen anyone review the kayak yet so I am leery on it, but it looks promising. I'm not a fan of the pedal design though.
I love my Brooklyn kayak 2024 PK11. Pedal drive, well equipped, 35" wide, 10.5', 425 weight capacity. $1375. Check it out. I bought the green camo. I get a lot of compliments.
I've seen this kayak as the Rocaland walleye 105 for under $1000 but it doesnt look like it has that adjustable height seat. But you can buy the seat from Hammerhead for $150. With the feature set on this kayak at that price it seems really hard to beat. Gets you on the water with a pedal drive for a good price and I think this would be a good kayak to add the Bixpy rudder attached motor to as well.
Great review with a lot of information. This looks like a good choice for someone not wanted to spend a ton of money on a kayak, (like me) Noticed someone asked if you were affliliated with company or making money off them. Hate seeing people ask stupid things like that. What difference does it make? You gave a good review and found some faults with the kayak. Seems that whatever your association with that company may be is your business. You gave a detailed review that doesn't seem to sugar coat anything. I placed an order for one today based on your review. I couldn't care less if you profit from it. If you do hey that's great but that's your business!! Keep up the good work and I'll be watching more of your videos. Thanks
You’re dang awesome…love the honestly and not overselling it plus the pointers abt this not being as good in shallow water. Any recommendations for the kayak you like for more shallow water fishing? I’m 275 too! 😂
Question from a guy who’s never been around a pedal drive yak. If I wanted to purchase a paddle and some paddle holders to mount would I be able to fish shallow water without having the pedal assembly on the kayak? I assume it wouldn’t take on any extra water but really don’t know.
That pedal drive is the same as my hoodoo. Big con with the hoodoo is the steering parts. Mine after a little bit had a lot of wobble to it can that's cause there's just a plastic sleeve to fill the void between the handle and where the wires attact. That's as cheap as anyone could make that. Yet to figure out something to fix that. Very interested on how there's is done to. Over all looking at that amd what you did very interested in checking out more. Just like a bigger than 10'. The other thing is those clips loosen up and need to check them before using it all the time. Lock tight does help.
Great video! You touched on all the points of interest. I myself am a larger man very close to your specs and I never see anybody our size trying to stand up! Super job on this one!! Quick question, being fairly new to the pedal kayak interest, I am curious to understand the difference in the paddle design versus the prop design as far as useable depth goes? You made mention that you prefer a pedal style because you stay in shallower water. Do the paddle style pedal kayaks give that big of an advantage in shallower water? Thanks in advance for any input! Again, great video!
Wow! That’s a hell of a price. In the Kayak bass fishing space we get pushed the same 4 brands pretty much everywhere so it’s kind of hard to find these better deals
Why do these Kayaks have the holes right below the pedals? I notice water coming up but you not freaking out so I gather that's normal lol. Good demonstration and review especially for someone new to the sport.
That is an awesome kayak for it's size man. The speed was really good too for a 10ft kayak too. I like how the seat is on Tracks too. The price is really really awesome too for a pedal drive kayak. Like you said that is the cheapest pedal drive kayak that is out right now. Good video brother. Thanks you for sharing this & i hope you & your family are having a good weekend brother. Be safe out there brother.
At 9:12 of the video it looks like there's water coming up through those holes. Not that it matters because it's self draining. However, I would sure like to have one of those.
Good review, and I'll have to tell a Friend about it (right now, I have to tow him around with my Titan X / NK300 motor, when we go fishing! He can get his OWN pedal drive, now!). Lol

It’s not. Those are scuppers designed for draining water that comes over the bow. When I stood up water came through the scuppers. All sit on top kayaks have these
You're too far back from the pedals. Your knees are just about locking out in full extension. Shouldn't be having to extend your toes like that, either. NG. ;-)
the title is deceiving and click biting. There are many pedal kayaks in $1500 range. Most affordable is feelfree FLASH PEDAL KAYAK $1,099.00 list price
It’s not clickbait at all, you just can’t read. Key words being “with these features” the example you used of the feel free, has ZERO storage compartments, practically no storage behind the seat, I haven’t been in it but looking at the hull design, the stability looks a little weak… etc.
Lol....he said affordable. 1500 is not affordable. Yes cheaper than most. But if I'm gonna spend that much on a kayak I'll buy a jon boat and be more stable.

It’s not. Those are scuppers designed for draining water that comes over the bow. When I stood up water came through the scuppers. All sit on top kayaks have these
Feet vids for free?
😂
You're too far back from the pedals. Your knees are just about locking out in full extension. Shouldn't be having to extend your toes like that, either. NG. ;-)
I think they're sold out.
If they are they will have more very soon
latest production run is almost ready to ship out to customers. Probably be 7-10 days
this is literally the Hoodoo Impulse.. they must be coming from the same chinese factory!
It's also the mission-32 Marius so yea I think that's a safe bet
@@couchondachief5442 where’s mission-32 out of? Haven’t heard of them til now.
@@couchondachief5442 you two must not do well at those "whats different" picture puzzles cause the impulse and this boat dont look anything alike.
This is NOT the most affordable pedal drive...
the title is deceiving and click biting.
There are many pedal kayaks in $1500 range.
Most affordable is feelfree FLASH PEDAL KAYAK $1,099.00 list price
It’s not clickbait at all, you just can’t read. Key words being “with these features” the example you used of the feel free, has ZERO storage compartments, practically no storage behind the seat, I haven’t been in it but looking at the hull design, the stability looks a little weak… etc.
dam that is a wet kayak
cheap kayak. water in
You lost me at 1499.
That’s actually pretty box standard price for pedal drive kayaks nowadays
What do you recommend with somebody with no legs? Damn diabetes 😡
Lol....he said affordable. 1500 is not affordable. Yes cheaper than most. But if I'm gonna spend that much on a kayak I'll buy a jon boat and be more stable.
their website is a piece of crap!
