Perception has a kit that they send out to all buyers of the kayak that now includes washers for the base plate that eliminates the drive from disengaging. They also include a new pin that has a hole and pin that keeps pin from slipping out. It is free since it's considered a manufacturing flaw. I installed it and it resolved all issues with the drive disengaging. Solid pedal kayak that you can't beat for the price. You can totally accessorize this Kayak and still be under the cost of competing pedal kayaks. Also, there is a access hole on the pedal drive that allows you to apply grease to the gears. That helped reduce the sound from the gears while pedaling. Great video!!
I just bought this kayak yesterday and took it out for the first time and im very satisfied with it! Ppl say u cant reach the front and wasted space. I actually found it better to put my takle bock up front. I was able to move up with ease and never once felt tippy. U can get going pretty fast and steering is nice! I love the railing systems. The pole holders are a little shallow but for where im at as a holder there not bad. I did stand up and it was pretty decently stable. As a first time fishing off a kayak i felt comfortable the whole time. Casting from the seat is great to. I love the storage compartments as well for storing my extra plastic baits. Keep in mind i had a filled ice chest in the back
@@TheOrangeKou the only isdue i have it the rudder cord doesnt work to well and the Bolt on the left Peddle comes loose. Other than that its a great kayak it feels spacious and stable. I was out on a lake yesterday windy / choppy conditions and it was great!
@@AllAmericanGuy01 there's a lake up where I am that gets pretty windy and white caps and I trolled just fine. It was sketchy but overall I felt pretty stable
You can't beat Perception kayaks. You can always pay more to be "exclusive" but as far as quality and durability goes perception is a great deal for your money. I have 2 Strikers and I have put them through the ringer and loaded them down with my 300lb self and gear for a full week camping paddling. (My best guess is at least another 100lbs of gear if not more) Even loaded it has a very shallow draft and maneuverability is incredible. They are easy to paddle and quite comfortable. I would recommend Perception to anyone wanting great kayak @ an entry level price point that won't break the bank.
Great review, thanks! I actually just bought this exact boat last week but haven't picked it up yet. No point since it's still snowing. Also I would just like to point out that you should never pedal anything, bike, kayak, etc. With your legs fully extended. There should always be a slight bend, your knees will thank you.
I’m also curious if it has reverse pedal and if that gap between the pedal drive splashes water in? I’m still confused on why they didn’t make the shroud go longer.
Yes it hauls but backwards. And no no water splashes in. The gap is pretty small. I’m about to post my review of the kayak in the next few days but it’s a great kayak
I own this kayak for a year now, and have some great pros and con for it Pros Stable, holds direction well, ample room , comfortable seating position . Cons Rod holds - worthless easy fix Pedal drive holder is poorly engineered - if you hit with your drive some underwater obstacle your trip is over The drive will bend holding rod and depending on your speed the it will stop holding your drive or the drive will start voble. The repair kit is $50 and includes brackets and holding rod. I'm ordering second. So if you fish in shallow waters be careful.
It hasnt been released in Europe. I still wonder which which will be the retail price in Europe... I wish it'll be same currency exchange €/$. but not higher... i would get mine if it's 1.800€ but not higher.. .
Stays dry if the skipper plugs are in, I never put mine in cause they are so buoyant I don't ever feel the need unless it is winter time I like the cool water on my feet to help beat the heat. I can't speak for him but with the plugs in they footwell stays pretty dry.
Mike Jordan hey Mike! I haven't spent any time in the updated boats but I've heard they are quieter. Try and demo one if you can. I think you'll be happy. -Shane
Ron, right now these companies have to invest some serious man hours in engineering these boats. I think they will become more affordable now that most of the top brands are in the game.
The way they built this kayak was as if they rushed to get sales going. There’s so many problems with it. First week out for tournament my buddies bolt came off and fell into the lake. He had to paddle the rest of the day. Last week his seat broke and he’s only 190lbs. It’s a decent kayak but that seating is too low for bigger fellas. There’s better pedal kayaks out there.

Brian Thomas thanks Brian!
What kind of grease do they say to use
kabu 707 same grease you use to lube up your arse
So buying one of these used less then 6 times for 800$ is a good deal?

Are there any cons that you've seen on yours? Any parts that feel cheap and may need replacing?

Good review. Hope to see more videos as y'all rig this out. Just got one my self and am in the process of getting the things I want added to it.
The new upgraded pedal drives have fixed all the current issues they where having.
Good review! Thanks

Agreed, thanks Chris!
They replaced my pedal drive no problem. Top notch customer service!
Agreed to notch , website could use some updating to make thing easier to find but a phonecall gets answered and questions do too.
I'd like to know how this compares to the Feel free lure
Yesterday I found one new at store regularly priced 1799$ on sale 1600$ andddddd half priced. Couldn't pass it up at 800$
Where was this
You lucky dawg, I am jealous. I still have striker and I would have jumped at a deal like that to upgrade.
Man, $1799 at the time of this 2017 review; showing at $2129 today in 2022. Inflation is not my friend.

Could I use this in the Cheasapeake bay?
Robert Hayes does it have water?
I'm trying to decide between this and the eddyline 14. Any help?

Is it stable enough to stand up in?

Use pvc for the rod holders!
looks like alot of water around your feet inside the Kayak

interested to see if that noise has stopped in the drive? this is on my list to get

Thanks for the review. I am a disabled vet, limited income. Do you ever think the price on these peddle drive kayaks will ever drop to around 1000.00?
Ron, right now these companies have to invest some serious man hours in engineering these boats. I think they will become more affordable now that most of the top brands are in the game.
Ron, why not look into some used boats? Nothing wrong with buying a used kayak provided there aren't any holes in it.
Snaporello I have been looking...not much here in Maine.
Just saw at Academy today for $829.99 in Lake Jackson Texas.
the pedal drive one i call bs
Can the rod holder fit a beer?
Your volume is too low, the wind is louder than your voice. You could redo the audio track back at the house
My god, the audio is horrible. Had to shut it off.
Another video with loud background music.

Does it come with scupper plugs?
Karlton423 it does not.
Had to turn volume all the way down. Wind too annoying.
Pescador in English means fisherman
too much windnoise
