I've seen pretty much all the pilot mod videos as I also own one but that rudder deployment mod running straight from inside the hull is a first. Great job on that mod!
Best rudder deployment mod I've seen yet. Had my pilot new since 18 and finally had issues with my rudder deployment last week. Will be doing this soon!
Watched your video over and again to solve the same issue on my pescador. Best video out there. Very specific and informative. Thank you for this! Liked and subscribed! Keep up the good work!
Hey Will, love your mod used it. I also did a mod myself that really makes steering better. You can thread the end 1/4-20 add a washer and it is super stable. I will post video.
Love the rudder mod! I had to ask some bass guys today to put it down for me because I forgot before I left the ramp😂 mine is so tight I can't pull it at all!
That’s an awesome idea for the steering cables Will. Can definitely tell a difference. Getting ready to run the rudder deployment cables inside the kayak like you did. Was wondering did you use one or two cables for the rudder deployment? I was thinking using two cables might be easier installing. Im new at this so any comments would be appreciated
I mentioned this in the unboxing video, but it looks like you still don't have the rudder installed correctly. The rudder assembly should be flush with the body of the kayak....this is a step many people miss...you have to turn the rudder FULL right and push down...this allows the assembly to drop down into its locked position. It looks like yours is still raised up a little so it not secured in place.
I keep having this issue with the rudder where the cable keeps breaking. I have replaced it several times already with the same one you have. Do you have that issue as well?

Thanks, a lot! It was easier than I thought it'd be and makes a huge difference.

Awesome mods. Been using the pilot for about 2 years now with those steering and rudder issues and love these mods.

Thanks for sharing! Any recommendations on mods to help in shallow water or easy ways you've found to clear the clutter around the prop?
Great mods, best I've

This is the exact same rudder and steerer as the wilderness systems recon. I be the pedal drive is the same too

Is that steering knob a mod or did it come from the factory like that? I have a Pescador 12.0 and mine looks different.
The issue with that kayak is the rudder it needs a fatter one.
