Grind out the motor plate mounting holes so that you can utilise the smaller pinions. An old rc racing trick from the 80s & 90s - we had to grind out the motor plates to fit huge pinions & small spurs needed for 540 silver can racing.
So glad to see u changed the servo horn! 👋👋👋 Originally, 32 pitch was off-road/nitro. Moving from 32 pitch, to 48p, to 64p (& 78 pitch 20 years ago), the idea was more precise & MORE available gear ratio combinations.
I love my revolvers the low speed and torque is great.if you look for more punch go up in kv I don't mind sounds I run 2500 sidewinder 4 in the element and does great and have a team spec 2050 waiting on a flat rail build.keep up good work .
Cool, thanks this vid helps with gearing from my question on your vid yesterday. I really like the ecto looks similar to a scx10 under the body. I'm putting some scx10 parts on the gen7 to help it out nice starting platform the Gen7 is . Won't be much left tho lol.
I honestly never had issues with the 48P gears in my Element. I quite liked it given how smooth the drivetrain was. I even had it under load and it never stripped. One issue I see with the skid is that if it raises the transmission to make it flatter the already severe pinion angle on the front will be worse. Did it raise the transmission?
@@shadow7796 then that is a good thing. Rear pinion angle is ok, but the front is quite aggressive so anything to improve that will save driveshaft cups. I’ve been thinking on a V2 builders kit for a C1 build and this seems like a good option considering the new skid and tiny tires
So question why do you have a bec if you’re running a direct powered servo? I know that’s a newbie question but I am pretty new been in the hobby about 6 to 8 months still trying to figure everything out.
Who’s running a 1800kv motor? Curious what would be a good ratio to keep it close to stock speed? If anything I’d rather slow it a little for more torque.
Just letting you know there were some editing errors on this one you just might want to check it over. There were some shots where you stopped and restarted and you forgot to cut out some bits.👍
He usually leaves those in for our entertainment. Shows he's human just like the rest of us. Always great content, though, AND the man does his driving with one hand whilst filming with the other! He's like the Nick Burns of surface RC!
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Ecto but that rig side hill like crap.. I tried the spring mod and it helped a ton, but now it’s to low for my crawling spots and it bellys out all the time. So I’m a little lost on what to do next. Maybe loose the sway bar and put a extra link in and see how that does 🤷🏻♂️ But climbing straight up really steep stuff it really does well with out problems. But side hilling just sucks
Loving my ecto so far.

The motor will contact with the transmission case and since this is a outrunner motor it wouldn't be good. But otherwise i agree.
I guess not....
I like how it has a sway bar and still torque twist or the hole rear end squats at take off. Shows how light the rear suspension is
Did you see the video I did without the Swaybar? It was really bad on TT on the climb.
That gear ratio is what I have on my gatekeeper!
78 spur, 25 pinion. Love it.
I remember Kimbrough gears from when i 1st got into rc. Waaaay back in the late 70's!😳 (Before mud was something from wet dirt to race on! 😜😜😜)
So glad to see u changed the servo horn! 👋👋👋

True.
Hey Joe I love this truck. Watching the progress you've made with it from RTR form to the competition level performance it has now is awesome.
Thank you
#1 now! 😜
I went with the 54t on mine, and used a 13t pinion. It seems to have worked out very well.
Yeah I gotta get this geared down a bit.
Nice job

Over the top:). Looking forward too much more cool stuff 🤙👍💯💯
Got it and getting it...
You can also file down the bottom of the transmission case to bring it down 3mm with no clearance issue’s on the stock skid…
Hmmm so I could get about 5mm in total with this skid? Hmmm
Yeah I was thinking the same thing! The rod ends get pretty close to the case but they clear. Not sure how it would work out with this skid.
And you should check out the SOR RACING element parts, lcg battery tray, link riser, adjustable link mounts, carbon shock mounts 👍
Sor carbon shock mounts don't work on ecto/gatekeeper hoops
You should go to a stubby 1800 kv . I love mine and it has some damn good power. She’d a little more weight off the center
I think I may have another stubby in stock. Need to look and see
Can you show how the rear trailing arms are mounted on the next ecto video plz?
They just go in the mounts and on the link tabs on the rear housing.

No, it Lowes it about 2-3mm.

I like 48 it’s whatever but smooth and quiet
Might wanna look into 12:60 gearing to retain the 1:5 you first intended
Yeah that would get it for sure.
Nice 👍🏾
So question why do you have a bec if you’re running a direct powered servo? I know that’s a newbie question but I am pretty new been in the hobby about 6 to 8 months still trying to figure everything out.
The Crawlmaster Mini esc has no internal bec so I have a bec there to run the receiver. I got a cheap one in there now that seems to be doing good.
@@ExocagedRC oh okay I see
Dremil the bottom groove open it up a little... Boom
Maybe a dumb question but do you need a bec when you're running a direct power servo?
Only if the ESC doesn't have one built in, this crawlmaster mini esc doe not have one built in to it so thats why the external one is needed.
I have another question also. What kv revolver are you running?
1800kv
Do you use any exponential on the transmitter?
I’m not sure you meant to repeat yourself in double clips. Neat crawler.
Yeah I saw. Sorry
Which one of the affiliate links is for the bumper on your ecto?
Hey Joe do u know of any adapter to run a higher tooth count spur in a Traxxas ? (I'm running a 9t pinion)

I thought those were great. Lol
It happens. He does all of the shooting and editing on his phone.
Well darn. So long as I didn’t fart or do anything too stupid.

Well it’s not a wide vehicle but it seems to do fine for me. Have you removed the rollbar thing?
@@ExocagedRC
Yes. Roll bar is removed 👍🏻
if you're stripping 48P gears even on a crawler, you need to mesh it properly. never had a problem with 48P on any of my cars, even my drag cars
