I wouldn’t put underdrive gears in the axle when KNK already makes a 25% overdrive for the transmission. Ya know building a 2.2 tire, SOA Class 3 rig with an Element Enduro kit and going with the 12.8 wheelbase seems interesting.
Hot Racing makes 25 & 30% overdrive and underdrive gears for the front and rear axles. I've got the 01 gears to the front on my Gatekeeper, which I think is 25%. Got mine from Rpp Hobby along with an inversed input shaft for the transmission. When it's done correctly it works great. I'll probably go SOA on my Gatekeeper as well. I've never been a fan of the panhard rod anyway. Great video.
@@ExocagedRC the Hot Racing gears are definitely good quality. I used the Factory team metal gears with them to finish everything out, ring and pinion gears to. It's a shame that Axial gears Don't work but the Factory Team replacements very good, much better than the one peice ring and pinions that come stock. I run mine on a 3300kv Axe system on 3s and everything has held up very well. I also just added one of the new spur gear hubs from Bowhouse that let's a smaller spur gear to be used. I lowered mine down to a 54t 32p spur, imo the stock one is just a bit to big.
I did this last week but i built my own servo mount and the axles are under a redcat everest because i put capra axles under my ecto so i have rear steer. love you videos been a big help in building my cars
you should give the CI 4.5 Lil nova's comp cuts a shot, running soft outers on my trenchers in predator and they grip great, with way more sidehill, and still get great tire wrap, rig is 6.5 pounds, they do take a bit of break in.
Looks really good now, the 10ii ring and pinion gears do not fit the element axles unfortunately . I like the knk 25% overdrive gear set . I think the softest sway bar on the rear mite help in some areas where you need slightly more flex
@@ExocagedRC Having problems with the 1904. Not in stock and don't know when they will get them in. I did get the 1903 though. I'll mount them up and see 👀. They're soft and sticky ,the foams feel OK,we'll see 👀.
I like to see the trenchers back on her......also.....I never thought I'd say it but imma go soa on a rig now.....you've convinced me to atleast try it......going back to work soon so I'll have to join your channel officially 😉😏😄
Waiting on SSD brass knuckles and universal axle shafts. Do you know if this would have any issue running or is compatible with the increased steering angle from that swap?
Joe that was funny as, making it up the nasty to then just fall out straight after 😂😂 i been looking at the Ecto as my next crawler as they' re reasonably priced here in the UK. Can i ask what other mods/upgrades you did on yours, particularly the electronics? Thanks a lot 👌
Great video! I love the SOA from scale metal supplies! Next you gotta try the link riser for the rear axle!
Awesome build series...just one step from going full belly dragger !
Bring it on !!!
Cheers

10:55 lizard chillin on the rocks
Great review. 🙏
I just got my element rear truss in the mail the other day and luv it!.. Everything fit perfect and it looks killer!!…
A nice project and crawling. I would like to try that crawl with my ftx ravine.
I have an SCX10ii that I have done this to. It is an absolute beast!!
I only have 1.9's on mine though.
perfect timing. just started my enduro kit.

Awesome info on the gears. I want to underdrive the back a bit.

The new portal ecto will be easy to build as a 4ws!

Sounds like you built an awesome truck!
@@ExocagedRC Thanks I hope so have not got to try it out yet

Do you have them vented with the novas?
I love the Lil Novas foams. I vent mine.
@@ExocagedRC same they have a noticeable improvement over proline dual stage with weather swings up here
@@TeamBoogie yeah they are vented and run great, they also dont see water so not worried about venting them

Would like to see the Ecto on your course with the Gmade tires
Well. I can do that.

Where did you get the smaller ends for the steering rod ? Not sure if I missed that cheers, is it just a m3 ball end?
Maybe fit a trx portal axle out back. Sure the final drive out of portal box is lower than 3:75-1 not a hundred on that
Removing the sway bar might help you complete crawl#2

Mine have been awesome so far. Seem to turn plenty sharp
Man, flat rail LCG chassis and servo on axle. Are we going back in time?, lol. Great Channel btw.
Thanks!
Where did you get the servo tabs?
Scale metal supplies
@@ExocagedRC link possibly, I can’t seem to find them
Where did you get the servo mounts from. Like to do the SOA on my Ecto also..
Axial gears will not work in the axles. I’ve been running the Team KNK 25% OD trans gears.
I think yellow desert lizards in partial droop in the front
Maybe black they don't have yellow. Maybe dravtech with mini t springs in gold
What bec are you using with the Holmes esc?

Well this has a Crawlmaster mini with Revolver motor. In your area you can do a Hobbywing 1080 and good brushed motor and do well.
@@ExocagedRC ok cool, thanks for the advice Joe. 👍👌
The Ecto comes with 12% overdrive gear as an option. Did you try that?
Yeah that’s in there now. I’d like a bit more.
what wheelbase do you prefer for yours rigs?
Also, do you know where those servo mounts came from?
Scale Metal Supplies
Links in description
No, not the SOA itself, the mounts to connect the servo to the SOA. Coming back to RC’s after a 25 year break so no surplus of parts yet.
What tires are you running?
Try this truck with gspeed v3 carbon. you will not regret it.
I want to do a cra on chassis on it. But I’m doing my best to keep it an Ecto.
I have to do that on my Ecto AKA Bumblebee😄
P.s. Hot Racing makes the gears that KnK sell.
Name it peanut brittle pass
It tha ex-toe 👊🏽🤣😂
#1 x3! 😁👍
2nd 😎
