Ended up going with a 9T on my TRX4 Sport AND the 2 speed conversion. Ultimate control (crawlmaster sport 15T) and plenty of wheel speed for some pop.

Motor up and gear down. I've gone up to a 60t spur gear and down to an 11t pinion to tame the 3300kv puller pro in my custom Wraith build. Great control and still has awesome punch

Something quite satisfying about that tyre rub on lexan sound. Now just waiting for the Ecto body to be available so I can put it on my Gatekeeper.

Been viewing all your ecto videos lately. Got a Gatekeeper kit, the ecto body and a crapload of upgrade pieces. My sticky local rocks love that low gearing goodness. 👍😈👤

No brass, dsm, dig or any fancy stuff...even the foams are not aerospace grade, and ECTO is spectacular!
Never considered (or thought) changing the pinion gear. This hack is one of the best kept "secrets" I've seen...and the result is mind boggling!
You should write a book man!
    Cheers

With the exception of the ryft I always drop a few teeth on the pinion. It always helps tremendously. But I generally run 2500kv+ motors so I have plenty of room for gear changes. You need to up the over/under drive! That would help with the crack too!

I forget if I swapped to a smaller pinion or not but I put in a 550 HH CMS 5 slot 10T motor in my trailrunner with a hw1080 and that things barely a little faster than a fast walking speed… but that reedy 540 16T wasn’t enough for my needs. Now it’s awesome :)

Not sure how many subs or viewers you get from the UK ( I hope its a good number?) as the crawling scene is nothing like as big as it is in the USA, but your channel is one of the ones I always come to on this subject. Yeah for sure, as someone who has come to r/c crawling from r/c buggy racing, the choice of pinion/spur has always been crucial to performance and this video proves just what a massive difference it can make. Nice work!
