This video really hit at the heart and nostalgia. As I was growing up, ben 10 was the best thing (apart from teen titans) and when my cousin prefered alien force, I couldn't accept that and I would try to argue about how ben 10 classic is better in anyway but now I can understand why he liked that more than classic, to him it was the same nostalgia I felt about the classic. I lost my grandma just recently and my mum almost 3 years, and I feel exactly how you did Mattie, at first regret of not spending more time with them. But like you stated in this vid, our loved ones are always understanding and we should just be grateful for the times we had with them. Ben wasn't even a jerk in most episodes of the OS and he sure as hell doesn't only do the right thing for selfish motives. First episode he thinks he can help people by using the Omnitrix because he feels like it was his fault. Is he selfish sometimes? Of course, he's a kid. Would you expect any kid to be entirely selfless? Would you expect any person to be entirely selfless? You especially neglect to mention the reason Ben 10,000 became a jerk to his family. It's because he took being a hero ultra seriously. He monitors the entire Earth and is almost constantly XLR8 in his down time to stop crime and make sure he can do everything fast enough to help. It's an opposite extreme as opposed to what he'd be if he was more selfish as shown with his character foil of Kevin 11 and thus is actually a different lesson to learn Yeah, upon rewatch I hated that they changed Zs'Skayr's entire motivation for no reason at all. Hell they never even knew what to animate him doing. He's just floating around doing nothing most of the time he's on screen. It's sad cause the explanation could've been a simple "Omnitrix discharged an energy shockwave when Zs'Skayr tried possessing Ben so he can't take that route anymore." It would've also been better if it had more build up, I can't deny that Transformation sequences are awesome, and deserve to be in more than one episode. Chances are when you see the show for the first time, you're not watching the first episode so the transformation sequences are an important aspect that do tell what the series is about and they're also just badass. Seriously... the stupidest complaint I've ever heard anyone say... so yes, you are wrong lmao Comparing Vilgax to Hitler? That doesn't even make sense... I guess it's probably for a joke, but the connection there is thinner than a string. His character was treated more as a force of nature, and thus doesn't have much of a character period. This doesn't stop him from being a great villain though in my opinion 'Ben 10 vs The Negative 10' definitely needed more buildup. It's criminal that it didn't. Honestly, the episode could've been a 3 parter with a ton of buildup from the rest of the season which would've been so much better I'm surprised you never complained about how 'Monster Weather' treated Grandpa and Ben's discourse as a joke and used the exact scene where it's used as the butt of a joke especially with how much focus you put into Ben's character thinking he's a jerk the entire time. I do think kids would have to relearn the same lesson over and over again, because it may be the same lesson but you still need to learn to adapt that to other situations, though sometimes Ben was indeed way too much of a jerk like in the beginning of 'The Return' I'm hella confused on the thing you said about Mount Rushmore?? Like, yeah it happened but how could you mention that in an episode? Honestly that sounds like a good line of dialogue for a later Ben 10 series to fit more with the grown up aspect of it. As a kid, you think nothing of it whereas when you're an adult some deep and unnerving truths are revealed . It would fit tone and theme more in a sequel series is what I'm trying to say. I do love the idea of it being brought to attention though. However, I don't think it's a crime to use it without acknowledging it's history in more of a light hearted show. A bit of an overreaction I'd say lol I also don't understand you wanting a Ben villain arc??? Especially when you say that you were also kind of a brat when you were a kid yet never turned into a villain. You just grew up. I feel like you should've lessened your reaction in the video on that topic when at the end you do contradict it. Like, acknowledge that you thought it was stupid he didn't have one and then realized that it makes sense why he doesn't have one though you would've liked more episodes that commentated on Ben's character. I would like to just make a quick and simple point. Steven universe was 13 at the start of his show. Dipper and Mabel were 12. Ben in the classic series was 10, being the only actual kid here since past 12 years old is adolescent. I have seen people complain about Ben being immature but comparing him to younger characters from other shows still isn’t the best argument to be made since there is a big gap in maturity between just a 10 year old and a 12 year old. I think that’s the most import point here not just that Ben is 10 but also the other characters he was compared to are older than him

I slept on Ben 10 too but not to the same extent. I’ve been in love with superheroes since I could walk and talk, but I would look at commercials for Ben 10 and be like “… this is dumb how could people like this?” And then my neighbor got me to watch it and I became instantly obsessed with it more than him lmao. I was very little when the first two series originally aired and so I didn’t get the same experience of watching it week to week either. So the one bright side of growing up in the early days of streaming did have its benefits. I binged the first 3 series (although Netflix didn’t have all the seasons for each series so I was confused at some points lol) and again just fell absolutely in love with it. I would make my own omnitrix out of cardboard, duct tape, and dixie cups and create my own aliens and pretend which existing aliens I could turn into. One of the coolest birthday presents I ever got was the jacket from alien force/ultimate alien and a toy version of the Omniverse omnitrix that I wore a few days later trick or treating. And at this point I was watching new episodes of omniverse weekly. This series just has so much heart into it and it’s not only a cool fantasy and escape from reality, but teaches lessons like sometimes you need to learn the same lesson over and over again and among others that Mattie already mentioned. Absolutely loved this video and even if there is no video made about Alien Force, it is a must watch, season one especially. It’s a darker tone and is a great coming of age where Ben has to learn to be an actual hero without Grandpa Max, learn to make sacrifices and a ton of redemption for multiple characters… saying it out loud it’s pretty much Spider-Man lmao… probably why it’s my favorite
Ok the random outburst about breaking a head at mount rushmore was just weird. It's not symbolic. It doesn't need to be symbolic. Blowing up landmarks for shock factor is old as the medium. They wanted to have a battle at a famous landmark that isn't in the middle of a city and could reasonably hide a plumber base. a giant mountain range in the middle of South Dakota works really well for that. It was practical.
While I do agree about the character growth being repetitive, as a seven year old watching week to week it's not nearly as noticeable as when you binge the entire series in a much shorter period of time.

It also has great continuity with each arc connecting together and calling back to previous continuity AF/UA does do that but they never take full advantage because they're kinda bogged down by still trying to be anthological while also trying to have an over arching story and sometimes bad filler ruins the pace or someone usually forgets how powerful Ben and his friends are
I honestly feel that' a big thing about shows that come out weekly is that they try to make the show for people who will watch 4-5 episodes a month... Not binge all 6 seasons in a weekend, my point is that most media that people consumed before streaming was made for cable and ads... Where not so much anymore, it's also why a lot of manga readers get upset with passing cause you can reread a like and look over page as many times as you want, read as fast or slow, and give the characters their own voice, but then it gets animated shit gets cut or characters talk/ move faster or slower then your mind thought😂
I mean in the episode "Kevin 11" Ben have a tiny vilan arc , he even join Kevin and agree in commit crimes However when he see Kevin don't have any problem in hurt people we see what he could have being if he don't had a family This is show when the ominitrix discharge throws Ben and Kevin away and grandpa Max hold Ben while Kevin is throw in the wall
I just wanna say thanks a ton for not only covering the series with such depth, but also being honest with your gripes with the show. I've been an avid fan from even since I was a kid (it was one of my "childhood pillars" alongside Sonic and Pokémon), but I have gripes with it that I feel like I don't really get to see being spoken about by most other fans. It was really refreshing to see the opinions of someone coming into the series for the first time, and I loved how you brought up really interesting points I never would have considered otherwise. This being said, I don't want to thank you solely for bashing the show, lol; I want to thank you for sharing your personal experience with the show. I'm a semi-frequent viewer, and I remember watching some videos where you went into some personal stuff about yourself, and I always found that to be both brave and touching that you're willing to demonstrate this side of yourself to your fans. The story about your grandparents particularly held great value to me both because it showed how much this show meant to you on an entirely personal level, but it also reminded me of how I had a similar scenario occur with my own grandparents, and how thankful I am for giving them the time I had when I saw them for the last time. All in all, thank you. Thank you for covering this show, thank you for being so thorough, thank you for being so compassionate, and thank you for doing what you do. My issue is he ignored the fact that allot of his issues are addressed in the other like 3 series Like we do infact see what an evil ben would look like We see him grow as a person and understand and learn And by ignoring the sequal series he ignores the growth of Kevin as a character
As a kid I preferred Ben 10 Classic over the others but when I went to rewatch at the first 3 shows I found myself much preferring Alien Force the most.
I haven't seen Ben 10 in years but after watching this video I think its time for a rewatch. Ben 10 and many cartoon that aired on cable channels are tied to memories of my grandparents. We didn't have cable tv at my house growing up but my grandparents had it at their place. So rainy days or once it got to dark to play outside, everyone including the adults crowded around the tv and watched what ever cartoon the kids wanted to see. Ben 10 was a show we would watch often at those times.
Sure there's a bunch of character problems with Ben but you need to understand he is literally a 10-year-old CHILD! He doesn't need to go for a villain arc of course he is going to be impulsive.
Exactly he can be problematic at times but it doesn't mean he has to go full on villain. In fact there's a lot of people who relate to Ben as a character, he's honestly not that bad.
Also Mabel and Dipper were 12 and Steven universe was like 13 at the start so the comparison he made makes no sense since they are literally older than Ben so of course they’re less immature
The end of this video really shows what a difference nostalgia makes lol I showed my wife Justice League Unlimited and while it was this revolutionary experience for me each week as a child, watching it as an adult binging was certainly less interesting for her. Still, I can see how this concept was amazing for kids but doesn’t seem so interesting to me. Great video!

Secret Saturdays and Gen Rex may have a lot of the same staff but they aren't the same franchise as ben 10 just because one crossed over in a movie and the other in a singular episode.
Gen Rex & Ben 10 are both man of action properties so they are connected in that way I don’t know abt Secret Saturdays as I’ve never watched this show Plus aren’t powderpuff girl comics made by dc
Shortly before Christmas, my grandfather passed. I kept convincing myself that I would be okay. I had my time with him. I never felt distant from him. Of course I would have loved more time with him, but that’s how you’re supposed to feel. But now I have a grandma who sleeps alone. I have cousins who are still kids, and they went from seeing their Pa every other day to never seeing him again. I have a mother and an Aunt who lost their father. Knowing how everyone else feels doesn’t make me feel better, but if I remind myself that none of us are hurting alone, that helps. His passing brought my family closer and it reminded me what truly matters. I don’t care if you make more Ben 10 videos. I think you would like the rest of the show, I know I did. But it means the world to me that you gave it a chance. Because at the core of this show is a heart and understanding of the human experience, for better or worse.
The bit about Mt. Rushmore feels like a stretch, if I'm being honest. Like, I get where you're coming from, but the stuff about the Navajo and fascism, while important and true, is probably better suited in a different show, and not for something in the middle of a fight with a random space alien. It feels too much like you're faulting the show for something retroactively, and not for something it actually did wrong. Sometimes a cool visual or setting can just be a cool visual or setting without any deeper meaning.

Definitely hope you watch and make a video on Alien Force. I think you'll like it more with how it handles Ben's character evolving. I grew up with Ben 10 classic but I actually prefer AF (which I guess I also grew up). Dwayne McDuffie's involved with it and Ultimate Alien. Omniverse is a mixed bag all around but it has some great stuff too. Higher highs but lower lows than UA.
As a Ben 10 fan and a fan of the Watchtowers content I was excited, but hearing the beginning I was a little scared not of the opinion but moreso considering how large this series is where Classic is just a small fragment and that it wouldnt be given it's fair shake... And even though maybe this review wasn't a shining perfect review confirming my love for the series I somewhat liked the review without the bias of nostalgia and the hindsight of the series as a whole and even if there's not another Ben 10 video ever I do hope this series gets it's fair chance because I like many believe that it's a rollercoaster of a ride.

At the start of the pandemic, I pretty much did the same as you Mattie and started watching programs from when I grew up. (I so fell in love again with Totally spies!) @@mattiesavannahpahl9934 Showrunner of Alien Force and Ultimate Alien is Dwayne McDuffie. Also Glen Murakami is involved too. And Art Director of Omniverse is Derrick J Wyatt. Best one is first two seasons of Alien Force. But season 3 is not that great. I think first arc in Ultimate Alien is close to Alien Force seasons 1-2 level but second arc isn't that great. Still it is better than Alien Force Season 3 so i would say Ultimate Alien is more consistent in terms of quality. Omniverse has too many fillers. I like the art style and most of the story arcs but they don't delve too deep into those. I would rank the franchise as Alien Force seasons 1 and 2>Ulitmate Alien>Omniverse>Classic>Alien Force season 3.

I enjoyed the original Ben 10 growing up, even if I was a little older than the target demographic. Mainly because it was something I watched with my little brother. I should get around to watching the sequel shows one day. Also, I thought Secret of the Omnitrix was an actual movie, given that's how it was released on DVD here in Australia.
Interesting I was well out side of the target audience, but I stilled love the show even from the first episode I watched. The fact that they just had everything in the world, magic, aliens, super heroes. Aslo I grew close to my cousin so have in a show with cousins are the leads was nice

Well worth the wait. I've been rewatching the first series recently, and man, there's a lot I've missed. I wasn't in the demos when the show first aired (to be fair, I have NEVER been in the demos of any cartoon of the '90s and beyond), but I'm understanding the roots of this global franchise a lot more. Can't wait to see you all dive further into the series.
You know one thing I love the most about the Benton franchise is how oddly similar. It is tone music, even model character sheets to the DC animated universe. And honestly I would love it so much to find out that someday. My first episodes that I seen of Ben 10 was the one where he fight Rojo, the Kevin 11 ep, Secrets, and Ghostfreak. Then I fully watched alien force in it’s entirety n it’s currently my fav. Watched all of the classic series at one point n I liked it a lot

Yo I watched Ben 10 during quarantine too and was thinking mostly the same stuff. Honestly S1-2 of Ben 10 Alien Force were probably the best. Love the videos you all put out!
While i am liking the retrospective i have to say the comedy you try to add(mostly on the channel in general) just sucks, it feels like i am watching the Nostalgia Critic but 10 times worse. I'm probably the minority here but that's how i feel.
For my argument, I want to compare this show to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Like you and Ben 10, I never got around to watching Avatar until years later. While I enjoyed both cartoons, Avatar was by far the superior show. It had a serialized format as opposed to Ben 10's more episodic format, and Aang was a much more likable protagonist when compared to Ben, despite both being playful and selfish kids. Avatar seasons 1-3 also took place over the course of a few months like the original Ben 10 cartoon, yet all the characters in Avatar managed to grow in organic and plausible ways. Ben had potential to be likable and have character development, but since the start of the series, for the most part, the writers just never gave him the chance. Ben remained an inconsistent non-character who became whatever the episode needed him to be. It's a shame because he has his moments, but he could've been better, as proven by Avatar. PS: That bit at the end where you described how you were an annoying kid who fought with your brother, before you two grew up and became close friends, hit close to home with my own brother and childhood. And I just now realized how the Ben 10 sequels showed a similar dynamic with Ben and Gwen. I also related to you losing touch with other friends and family as you got older.

Yeah, upon rewatch I hated that they changed Zs'Skayr's entire motivation for no reason at all. Hell they never even knew what to animate him doing. He's just floating around doing nothing most of the time he's on screen. It's sad cause the explanation could've been a simple "Omnitrix discharged an energy shockwave when Zs'Skayr tried possessing Ben so he can't take that route anymore." It would've also been better if it had more build up, I can't deny that
Transformation sequences are awesome, and deserve to be in more than one episode. Chances are when you see the show for the first time, you're not watching the first episode so the transformation sequences are an important aspect that do tell what the series is about and they're also just badass. Seriously... the stupidest complaint I've ever heard anyone say... so yes, you are wrong lmao
Comparing Vilgax to Hitler? That doesn't even make sense... I guess it's probably for a joke, but the connection there is thinner than a string. His character was treated more as a force of nature, and thus doesn't have much of a character period. This doesn't stop him from being a great villain though in my opinion
'Ben 10 vs The Negative 10' definitely needed more buildup. It's criminal that it didn't. Honestly, the episode could've been a 3 parter with a ton of buildup from the rest of the season which would've been so much better
I'm surprised you never complained about how 'Monster Weather' treated Grandpa and Ben's discourse as a joke and used the exact scene where it's used as the butt of a joke especially with how much focus you put into Ben's character thinking he's a jerk the entire time. I do think kids would have to relearn the same lesson over and over again, because it may be the same lesson but you still need to learn to adapt that to other situations, though sometimes Ben was indeed way too much of a jerk like in the beginning of 'The Return'
I'm hella confused on the thing you said about Mount Rushmore?? Like, yeah it happened but how could you mention that in an episode? Honestly that sounds like a good line of dialogue for a later Ben 10 series to fit more with the grown up aspect of it. As a kid, you think nothing of it whereas when you're an adult some deep and unnerving truths are revealed . It would fit tone and theme more in a sequel series is what I'm trying to say. I do love the idea of it being brought to attention though. However, I don't think it's a crime to use it without acknowledging it's history in more of a light hearted show. I would like to just make a quick and simple point. Steven universe was 13 at the start of his show. Dipper and Mabel were 12. Ben in the classic series was 10, being the only actual kid here since past 12 years old is adolescent. I have seen people complain about Ben being immature but comparing him to younger characters from other shows still isn’t the best argument to be made since there is a big gap in maturity between just a 10 year old and a 12 year old. I think that’s the most import point here not just that Ben is 10 but also the other characters he was compared to are older than him

I slept on Ben 10 too but not to the same extent. I’ve been in love with superheroes since I could walk and talk, but I would look at commercials for Ben 10 and be like “… this is dumb how could people like this?” And then my neighbor got me to watch it and I became instantly obsessed with it more than him lmao. I was very little when the first two series originally aired and so I didn’t get the same experience of watching it week to week either. So the one bright side of growing up in the early days of streaming did have its benefits. I binged the first 3 series (although Netflix didn’t have all the seasons for each series so I was confused at some points lol) and again just fell absolutely in love with it. I would make my own omnitrix out of cardboard, duct tape, and dixie cups and create my own aliens and pretend which existing aliens I could turn into. One of the coolest birthday presents I ever got was the jacket from alien force/ultimate alien and a toy version of the Omniverse omnitrix that I wore a few days later trick or treating. And at this point I was watching new episodes of omniverse weekly.
This series just has so much heart into it and it’s not only a cool fantasy and escape from reality, but teaches lessons like sometimes you need to learn the same lesson over and over again and among others that Mattie already mentioned. Absolutely loved this video and even if there is no video made about Alien Force, it is a must watch, season one especially. It’s a darker tone and is a great coming of age where Ben has to learn to be an actual hero without Grandpa Max, learn to make sacrifices and a ton of redemption for multiple characters… saying it out loud it’s pretty much Spider-Man lmao… probably why it’s my favorite

Ok the random outburst about breaking a head at mount rushmore was just weird. It's not symbolic. It doesn't need to be symbolic. Blowing up landmarks for shock factor is old as the medium. They wanted to have a battle at a famous landmark that isn't in the middle of a city and could reasonably hide a plumber base. a giant mountain range in the middle of South Dakota works really well for that. It was practical.
While I do agree about the character growth being repetitive, as a seven year old watching week to week it's not nearly as noticeable as when you binge the entire series in a much shorter period of time.

AF/UA does do that but they never take full advantage because they're kinda bogged down by still trying to be anthological while also trying to have an over arching story and sometimes bad filler ruins the pace or someone usually forgets how powerful Ben and his friends are
I honestly feel that' a big thing about shows that come out weekly is that they try to make the show for people who will watch 4-5 episodes a month... Not binge all 6 seasons in a weekend, my point is that most media that people consumed before streaming was made for cable and ads... Where not so much anymore, it's also why a lot of manga readers get upset with passing cause you can reread a like and look over page as many times as you want, read as fast or slow, and give the characters their own voice, but then it gets animated shit gets cut or characters talk/ move faster or slower then your mind thought😂
I mean in the episode "Kevin 11" Ben have a tiny vilan arc , he even join Kevin and agree in commit crimes
However when he see Kevin don't have any problem in hurt people we see what he could have being if he don't had a family

I just wanna say thanks a ton for not only covering the series with such depth, but also being honest with your gripes with the show. I've been an avid fan from even since I was a kid (it was one of my "childhood pillars" alongside Sonic and Pokémon), but I have gripes with it that I feel like I don't really get to see being spoken about by most other fans. It was really refreshing to see the opinions of someone coming into the series for the first time, and I loved how you brought up really interesting points I never would have considered otherwise.
This being said, I don't want to thank you solely for bashing the show, lol; I want to thank you for sharing your personal experience with the show. I'm a semi-frequent viewer, and I remember watching some videos where you went into some personal stuff about yourself, and I always found that to be both brave and touching that you're willing to demonstrate this side of yourself to your fans. The story about your grandparents particularly held great value to me both because it showed how much this show meant to you on an entirely personal level, but it also reminded me of how I had a similar scenario occur with my own grandparents, and how thankful I am for giving them the time I had when I saw them for the last time.
All in all, thank you. Thank you for covering this show, thank you for being so thorough, thank you for being so compassionate, and thank you for doing what you do. I look forward to more content from you and the rest of the Watchtower crew in the future. Cheers!
My issue is he ignored the fact that allot of his issues are addressed in the other like 3 series
Like we do infact see what an evil ben would look like
We see him grow as a person and understand and learn
And by ignoring the sequal series he ignores the growth of Kevin as a character
As a kid I preferred Ben 10 Classic over the others but when I went to rewatch at the first 3 shows I found myself much preferring Alien Force the most.

I haven't seen Ben 10 in years but after watching this video I think its time for a rewatch. Ben 10 and many cartoon that aired on cable channels are tied to memories of my grandparents. We didn't have cable tv at my house growing up but my grandparents had it at their place. So rainy days or once it got to dark to play outside, everyone including the adults crowded around the tv and watched what ever cartoon the kids wanted to see. Ben 10 was a show we would watch often at those times.
Sure there's a bunch of character problems with Ben but you need to understand he is literally a 10-year-old CHILD! He doesn't need to go for a villain arc of course he is going to be impulsive.
Exactly he can be problematic at times but it doesn't mean he has to go full on villain. In fact there's a lot of people who relate to Ben as a character, he's honestly not that bad.
Also Mabel and Dipper were 12 and Steven universe was like 13 at the start so the comparison he made makes no sense since they are literally older than Ben so of course they’re less immature
The end of this video really shows what a difference nostalgia makes lol I showed my wife Justice League Unlimited and while it was this revolutionary experience for me each week as a child, watching it as an adult binging was certainly less interesting for her. Still, I can see how this concept was amazing for kids but doesn’t seem so interesting to me. Great video!

Shortly before Christmas, my grandfather passed. I kept convincing myself that I would be okay. I had my time with him. I never felt distant from him. Of course I would have loved more time with him, but that’s how you’re supposed to feel.
But now I have a grandma who sleeps alone. I have cousins who are still kids, and they went from seeing their Pa every other day to never seeing him again. I have a mother and an Aunt who lost their father.
Knowing how everyone else feels doesn’t make me feel better, but if I remind myself that none of us are hurting alone, that helps. His passing brought my family closer and it reminded me what truly matters.
I don’t care if you make more Ben 10 videos. I think you would like the rest of the show, I know I did. But it means the world to me that you gave it a chance. Because at the core of this show is a heart and understanding of the human experience, for better or worse.

The bit about Mt. Rushmore feels like a stretch, if I'm being honest. Like, I get where you're coming from, but the stuff about the Navajo and fascism, while important and true, is probably better suited in a different show, and not for something in the middle of a fight with a random space alien. It feels too much like you're faulting the show for something retroactively, and not for something it actually did wrong. Sometimes a cool visual or setting can just be a cool visual or setting without any deeper meaning.

Definitely hope you watch and make a video on Alien Force. I think you'll like it more with how it handles Ben's character evolving. I grew up with Ben 10 classic but I actually prefer AF (which I guess I also grew up). Dwayne McDuffie's involved with it and Ultimate Alien. Omniverse is a mixed bag all around but it has some great stuff too. Higher highs but lower lows than UA.
As a Ben 10 fan and a fan of the Watchtowers content I was excited, but hearing the beginning I was a little scared not of the opinion but moreso considering how large this series is where Classic is just a small fragment and that it wouldnt be given it's fair shake... And even though maybe this review wasn't a shining perfect review confirming my love for the series I somewhat liked the review without the bias of nostalgia and the hindsight of the series as a whole and even if there's not another Ben 10 video ever I do hope this series gets it's fair chance because I like many believe that it's a rollercoaster of a ride.

Best one is first two seasons of Alien Force. But season 3 is not that great. I think first arc in Ultimate Alien is close to Alien Force seasons 1-2 level but second arc isn't that great. Still it is better than Alien Force Season 3 so i would say Ultimate Alien is more consistent in terms of quality. Omniverse has too many fillers. I like the art style and most of the story arcs but they don't delve too deep into those. I would rank the franchise as Alien Force seasons 1 and 2>Ulitmate Alien>Omniverse>Classic>Alien Force season 3.

I enjoyed the original Ben 10 growing up, even if I was a little older than the target demographic. Mainly because it was something I watched with my little brother. I should get around to watching the sequel shows one day.
Also, I thought Secret of the Omnitrix was an actual movie, given that's how it was released on DVD here in Australia.

Interesting I was well out side of the target audience, but I stilled love the show even from the first episode I watched. The fact that they just had everything in the world, magic, aliens, super heroes. Aslo I grew close to my cousin so have in a show with cousins are the leads was nice

He's more like if Ben took the opposite route, he finally learned to be responsible, but he took it too far to the point where he lost his humanity(which is symbolized through the fact that he only showed his human form after accepting to be a little more like his younger self). Well worth the wait. I've been rewatching the first series recently, and man, there's a lot I've missed. I wasn't in the demos when the show first aired (to be fair, I have NEVER been in the demos of any cartoon of the '90s and beyond), but I'm understanding the roots of this global franchise a lot more. While i am liking the retrospective i have to say the comedy you try to add(mostly on the channel in general) just sucks, it feels like i am watching the Nostalgia Critic but 10 times worse.
I'm probably the minority here but that's how i feel.

For my argument, I want to compare this show to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Like you and Ben 10, I never got around to watching Avatar until years later.
While I enjoyed both cartoons, Avatar was by far the superior show. It had a serialized format as opposed to Ben 10's more episodic format, and Aang was a much more likable protagonist when compared to Ben, despite both being playful and selfish kids. Avatar seasons 1-3 also took place over the course of a few months like the original Ben 10 cartoon, yet all the characters in Avatar managed to grow in organic and plausible ways.
Ben had potential to be likable and have character development, but since the start of the series, for the most part, the writers just never gave him the chance. Ben remained an inconsistent non-character who became whatever the episode needed him to be. It's a shame because he has his moments, but he could've been better, as proven by Avatar.
PS: That bit at the end where you described how you were an annoying kid who fought with your brother, before you two grew up and became close friends, hit close to home with my own brother and childhood. And I just now realized how the Ben 10 sequels showed a similar dynamic with Ben and Gwen. I also related to you losing touch with other friends and family as you got older.

I went from agreeing with only the Benwolf part to being delighted at seeing Kuro to the last part hitting uncomfortably close to my own experiences. All in all, worth a watch.
