Yeah, looks like someone wanted it to look neat and completely messed up the water flow instead. You'd need a symmetrical Y for what they wanted to achieve (both pipes at the same height) but I've never seen that anywhere.
Hi Tom I was a plumber for 45 years would like to say your jobs are true to life plumbing is like marmite you love it or you hate lt watching you're videos brings back a lot memories of the jobs l had to do on my own and like you had t omake it work so please carry on with your videos thanks to you l can sit on my sofa and relive all the problems of plumbing . Keep up the good work you make an old plumber years happy.
Nice video. I worked in a care home for a bit, constant problems with either wet wipes or gloves in the drains. Place was built on a hill and main drains had huge sumps. Usually had to call the jetting guy. Loving your Wera drift 🤣
@@PlumbLikeTom The office where I used to work flooded twice thanks to wet wipes. Not even someone at my company doing it, the upstairs neighbour was the culprit. The second time round the basement toilet backed up so badly the whole floor had to be renovated. The worst irony: the upstairs company was a mechanical engineering office (plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilation planning). We did the electrical side of things.
You in my field , Mr Tom well done buddy, those valves are life savers 😂😅 those wash hand basins are made to last , doesn’t surprise you ,the quality of products back in the days 😂
Really enjoying contents of your channel Tom, great to see how you tackle jobs, and love the odd rant, keeps it real and honest It never ceases to amaze me with how many clients confuse us with the fire brigade expecting us waiting for their call when/if something breaks
Hi Tom, bit of a grimy one fella! I love those cheap Wera cold chisels with the soft handle that won’t damage your hammer! Good for knocking out old taps😂😂😂😂😂 good luck mate!
Thanks for the information mate, I got quoted 650 for a new valve, there are some brand new, old stock ones on ebay for 150, a service kit would be ideal
Hi Tom, a nice mixture of jobs to see in this film, you certainly do get a nice variety of work. I’m sure it’s all good learning for young Jacob, I have also wrestled to remove old basin taps, I know they can be a nightmare. I enjoyed that film thank you Tom, have a great week and as always take care. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the support as always Chris, the taps can be a nightmare when they have been puttied in, I was worried about breaking the basin, have a great week mate
I came across your channel when you was doing a new boiler and taking out the old gas back boiler 4 weeks ago and I have sub and thumbs up on your vids that I have watched the ones last year so so... Tom I must say all great videos, explaining the job working out it and making the job looking good and not just for youtuby but mainly for the customers out there...
Love the opening scene with the two old blowtorch’s in the background mate so pleased we didn’t see a floater everyone wants it done asap if you want the best you’ll have to wait😉 or go cheap and get a poor job, a golden shower made me laugh 🤔🤣🤣👏😎
Very nice work Tom as my mate would say he had to give up tap dancing as he kept falling into the sink, and I’d glued my boss strap and it had a small leak on it and end up putting ct1 on it 👌very good video 👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great video, Tom, with an impressive range of jobs. That toilet was certainly unusual! Whenever I clear a drain with rods, and it suddenly ‘goes’ I can’t resist shouting “thar she blows cap’n!” (It’s from a scene in an old “Moby Dick” film) Just one of the mad things that gets one through unpleasant jobs!
As you will know Tom, one of the biggest problems in plumbing today is the quality of manufacture of some of the gear youare expected to install and make leakproof!! Phil
It was blocked higher up on the pushfit waste pipe, I tried to clear it from the other end but it was solid, I also couldn't gain good access to replace the existing pipe because there were heating pipes in the way. In the end I did what I thought was right and best for the customer, at least now the pipe is accessible, thanks for watching as always 👍
Thanks for the support as always Scot, I got quoted 650 for a new valve, there are some brand new ones on ebay, old stock for 150, a service kit would be ideal but I'm not sure the client will even have it done
Can't stop watching your channel, i wish I had someone like you to work with when I was learning .
Thanks for the support mate, I'm so pleased you are enjoying the videos
I wish that tom would take on an apprentice to pass on his skills and knowledge 🎉🎉😊
You Should start a apprenticeship program
Whb taps cemented in aghhhh remove tap head, remove body, 1/2 holesaw on 240v drill, drill through seating, cement and backnut 😊😊😊😊😊
Good tip that, I couldn't get the tap head off this one, luckily you don't see many puttied in anymore, thanks for watching mate
12:05 like watching the drain addict 🤣
The way that urinal waste was piped in the last video it’s no wonder it’s backing up- the tee is back to front, good vid as always Tom
I did notice that, the whole install looked a bit of a mess, thanks for watching as always mate 👍

“Golden shower” made me laugh out loud. You’re a star Tom. 😁

Wet wipes are the worst thing for drains, I don't get why people flush them, thanks for watching mate

Great vid Tom, thank you. Do you ever use drain snakes/augers? The expensive electric ones, would that have worked?
It may have worked but they do block solid, thanks for watching mate
There is something therapeutic about watching solvent weld fittings being glued up……😂
I like it too, thanks for the support as always Darren
As you will know Tom, one of the biggest problems in plumbing today is the quality of manufacture of some of the gear youare expected to install and make leakproof!!
Phil
Thanks for the support as Phil, some of the materials nowadays are rubbish
Some material are pathetic and not fit for purpose, but somehow we make them work!
Question, you went and cut into the stack to put a bypass and boss in. Why didnt you just jet up from there and put a rodding point in instead?

18:10 Did You use a top-hat washer for the new Taps?
I don't normally if they are hard piped in copper, the taps don't move, if they are on a flexi I normally do, thanks for watching 👍
Why is there electric stuff in that Toilet ??
It has a spray thing to clean yourself, thanks for watching mate 👍
Bad news when it takes two of you to change a tap lol
Tell me about it, thanks for watching as always Tom 👍
Is that one of those Japanese bogs
Similar I think, it seemed to have proper backflow prevention for water regs, thanks for watching as always Glyn
What the effing pipe slice is that toilet? And why so complicated? Makes NASA space shuttle bogs look cheap.
I think it was because it had a spray bidet feature, it needed a proper air gap the comply with the water regs, thanks for watching mate
Put some heat on it Tom
Having a moan is a plumber’s prerogative mate 😀👍
It's my safety valve, thanks for the support as always mate 👍
