I remember 10 years ago I stumbled upon a video of a guy with long hair from California talking about jigs. He was the first person who ever gave me the confidence to throw a jig. Fast forward 10 years, many many big bass and a couple of PBs later and a jig is my favorite lure to throw, I even tie my own now. Thank you Matt Allen you’ve taught me more about bass fishing then anyone else ever has 🙏
Yes, you can definitely tell which baits each one of them are really passionate about. I love it when people have been fishing for decades and are still so passionate about it!
These guys are what made me get back into fishing. I literally owe every joy I get from fishing to them. I love TacticalBassin so much. I’ve watched sooooo many videos!
I thrash small mouth in pa on a small river with a fin football dirty jig trimmed like Matt Allen taught me. Color old school! Trailer baby rage craw or bug! Try it. It works! Thanks Matt and Tim!!!!!!
Good morning!!! You guys turned me onto dirty jigs last year and now I own boxes full, best hooks, skirts and paintjobs in the game! Really appreciate the tip on flipping jigs for grass that will help me a ton this year.
You guys have me so stoked to seriously try jig fishing this Spring. I’ve been bingeing all your videos that feature jigs and then you drop a new one! Can’t wait to try out what I’ve learned from your channel.
Thank you for this video!! I have fished my whole life but very basic worm and bobber or catfish bottom and just never had much luck. I even had about 7-10 years when I almost just gave up fishing but recently got the bug again and decided to finally learn how to really fish with jigs and rigs. Thank you for this explanation of jigs and now I’m excited to go buy some jigs and give them a try.
Ha ha ha I typed that as you were talking about the muddy water, and what do you know - you mentioned adding chartreuse in a way I never thought of before! You guys are awesome - thanks so much from a newbie bass fisherman!
Another great and informative video. Matt you are a wonderful communicator, i feel like you and I are the only one’s in the boat. Awesome info and great tip!
Great video Matt, thanks for breaking it down with the “unknown” - which a lot of us bank anglers who don’t have the luxury of electronics on a boat - have to work with. I’m glad you pointed out the grub as a trailer, I used a fat Albert Zoom single tail grub on a football jig and caught my PB smallmouth a few years back. Looking forward to trying some dual tail grubs I picked up on this off season. Much appreciated tips, keep up the good work!
Always getting on the jig info here! But not doing well out on the field! Just adding to the learning from your knowledge! I'll get it some day! hahaha
I'm so happy that I found this channel. I've been looking for ways to work certain baits and I have watched all these different videos but they never went into details. I'm so happy that I found this channel
Thank you for the vid! I’m a young angler and have only started bass fishing more recently so sometimes it is hard to decide what to do or throw. But as I watch more and more of your videos I have started to get more bites and fish thanks to you guys. I also have learned a lot about gear from you guys and I’m buying more tackle and they work! So thank you for the awesome videos and information! Much love for what you guys are doing and please keep it up! 👍. From Subscriber
Instead of cutting up a couple of baits, I think I’ll just dip the top part of my jig trailer in my chartreuse garlic dye instead! I never thought of that. Thanks for all of the content you guys put out here for us! Now to go back to the local store (again)... My wife loves those receipts....
Lol...I know the feeling brother! Last week I ordered about $300 worth of Jack Hammers. My wife will restrict my RUclips time like she does my daughter if she had a clue...haha. But it's just like the gun safe, if I can get em through the door and put away when she's not home, what she don't know won't hurt her! ; )
Pro tip: Make your own jigs, I made 750 skirted jigs in multiple heads and sizes for $100-200 - Floral wire $5 - do it mold $40 - lead ingot $15 - do it paint $5 - skirting and guards from TMC $50 Edit: it’s great because you can use multiple colors in the skirt that the bass have never seen and no company will make because it’s time consuming! Add pink or white for bed visibility and have fun with it. I also make my own chatterbaits for the equivalent of $1.50 a chatterbait. If you’re a heavy jig angler DO THIS. Don’t pay $5-7 a jig
I got an expride 7'6" ex heavu moderate for flippin with braid % 22-25lb flouro. Its insane how much power that rod has for how light and balanced it is. A huge difference in that rod vs a 150-200 rod.
If you want another trailer for that keitech jig the strike king tiny rage bug is amazing, it’s half way between that paca chunk and the trd bug because it looks like a beaver but has some action to it
I have a place near me with like a couple next to each other. One water is somewhat clear and the other is muddy. I’m gonna try that chartreuse core. Looks unique and like it’ll work
Hope you get on the Coosa river lakes soon, that way you'll understand why none of these really explain those lakes, they are so different from lake to lake and current is the key but there is grass wood rock and docks that all fish completely different from current to no current. It truly is the most unique system I've fished.
Thanks Matt. This was a fantastic video! I love how you break down the technical aspects of how Tackle reacts to fish behavior. I started this winter saving my used senkos in a bag and using on jigs but my reason was to push it against the head to make the skirt flare more. Never considered using that piece as an attractor. Love your channel. Keep it coming. Miss knowing you guys are right over the hill from Chico. 😏
Hey Matt, I’m big fan of dirty jigs and kietech jigs. But I’m a fisherman on a budget, I tend to get a little crazy when buying jigs and buy multiple types and colors of jigs, but I found a jig that I like that doesn’t break the bank and seem to hold up well. I know you don’t talk about baits in lures without trying them first, check out pepper custom baits. I found them on tackle warehouse and bought quite a few of them, caught 30 bed fish over a weekend. Thought that might be good budget lure for us budget anglers.
i have been using the yamamoto creature bait black chartreuse threaded backward on my jigs for years. same deal chartreuse tentacle flash just behind the head.
Matt, recently you have recommended Chatterbaits. There are a variety of the more expensive models: crosseyez, freedom CFL, Stealth, etc. What is the main advantage of the traditional jig over the higher priced Chatterbaits we have been ordering recently?
What’s are your thoughts on war eagle heavy finesse jigs? And more specifically the 3/8 ball head? Love the video❤️ this is where I come for all my fishing knowledge!
Hey Matt, in regards to adding chartreuse, I have a black blue bitsy jig with a Pearl white trailer. I can dip the tails into some JJs to add garlic and chartreuse color. Would the white still offer the same effect or is it too much of a difference from black and blue?
I’ve done really good on finesse jigs lately. I was a skeptic for a while haha. Not directly related to this video, but wondering how the trash fish has served you since moving to Tennessee? Is the discounted sick fish one you like?
I'm still learning that there is a lot more to fishing than using a worm and bobber like I did when I was a kid. I fish pretty often around dusk until it gets too dark to see. Would you use a jig at night. If so what's a good color? I've always been told to use dark colors at night.
Hey Matt another suggestion instead of adding another package of worms in that chartreuse color. Everybody has a package of bubble gum worms pink worms if you will and that color works in the springtime as well. If you haven't tried it which I'm sure you probably have but if you haven't try it sometime.
Who can ever get tired of hearing, “hey guys it’s Matt Allen!!” Gotta love Tactical Bassin on Monday morning before Sunrise!!! 🦾🎣
Yep. Helps with Monday misery. Lol
Tim Little lol

That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
Matt: “just a quick video”, 24 mins later..... lol love it guys keep em coming! Can you guys do some more bank fishing focused vids soon?
I second that 🙋🏻♂️
Third on bank fishing but for prespawn and bedding fish
I caught my current pb pitching a finesse jig at a stump while wading the river
I love the way Matt talks about jigs!
Yes, you can definitely tell which baits each one of them are really passionate about. I love it when people have been fishing for decades and are still so passionate about it!
Hi Matt,
Great 25 minutes of learning, thank u.
Nigel (Chicago)
These guys are what made me get back into fishing. I literally owe every joy I get from fishing to them. I love TacticalBassin so much. I’ve watched sooooo many videos!
Happy Monday everyone
Happy Monday bro. Keep up the good vibes.
Another Monday means we are getting closer to warmer water. Here is Indiana the lakes are still in the upper 40's/lower 50
Thanks you too
Happy Monday
I thrash small mouth in pa on a small river with a fin football dirty jig trimmed like Matt Allen taught me. Color old school! Trailer baby rage craw or bug! Try it. It works! Thanks Matt and Tim!!!!!!
The nail polish tip for repainting baits brought life to my baits that had paint chipped off thanks for that tip!
That flash of chartreuse is genius!! Thanks Matt.
Good morning!!! You guys turned me onto dirty jigs last year and now I own boxes full, best hooks, skirts and paintjobs in the game! Really appreciate the tip on flipping jigs for grass that will help me a ton this year.
Thanks Matt! Great job simplifying jigs for us. I for one really needed this advice.
You guys have me so stoked to seriously try jig fishing this Spring. I’ve been bingeing all your videos that feature jigs and then you drop a new one! Can’t wait to try out what I’ve learned from your channel.
Most comprehensive lesson on jigs ever. I have zero jig experience. I bought some. Took notes, I'll try to emulate.
Thanks Matt, this is great. Love the chartreuse tip. Actually, I’ve been doing a version of this, but you’ve opened my mind to another take on it.
Thank you for this video!! I have fished my whole life but very basic worm and bobber or catfish bottom and just never had much luck. OH NO Late for work again ! Well worth it ! So much info so little time. Many thanks Matt.
I love jig fishing! Thanx Matt. Glad you're healing so well. Happy Monday y'all!!!
Love Dirty Jigs!! Also started making my own!! Love the jigs!!!!
I want to start making my own. Any tips? I finally found the banding tool online. Man that thing was hard to find!! 🤪
I like that these are very life like. Seems like something fish would actually go after. I am going to try this out today.
Thanks for breaking it down as simple as possible
Ha ha ha I typed that as you were talking about the muddy water, and what do you know - you mentioned adding chartreuse in a way I never thought of before! You guys are awesome - thanks so much from a newbie bass fisherman!
i watch all of ur vids and i learn so much from u :)
Perfect timing for me as going to cold muddy grass and cypress lake and will use your recommend jig combo with lots of confidence. Thanks Matt.
Another great and informative video. Matt you are a wonderful communicator, i feel like you and I are the only one’s in the boat. Awesome info and great tip!
Great video! Tons of info that has helped me decide what to pick up. I appreciate it
Just ordered more jigs and tailors. Thanks Matt for all the awesome videos .
These deep dives into baits is very helpful!
Great info as usual. Will definitely use this spring. Thank you from Virginia!
I was waiting for this video! Jig fishing is my favorite!
Thanks for the tips Matt! I’m gonna give it a try this weekend!!
I’ve never yet caught one on a jig yet, hopefully with Matt’s help and tips with this video, that’ll change this year. Thanks!
Thanks Matt, another high quality video.
Great video Matt, thanks for breaking it down with the “unknown” - which a lot of us bank anglers who don’t have the luxury of electronics on a boat - have to work with. Caught my personal best smallmouth this weekend on a keitech finesse football jig with z man Ned craw as a trailer. 4.8lbs 19.5” long
i used the tiny paca chunk on an aero jig for large trout . works great through the ice too .
Another awesome video! LOVE the chartreuse chunk!
Started fishing couple years back an your guys videos have helped so much thank you an keep it up
Always getting on the jig info here! But not doing well out on the field! Just adding to the learning from your knowledge! I'll get it some day! hahaha
I do that chartreuse core but super glue the trailer to it so that it acts as a one piece.. Don't let our tips out Matt!!
I'm so happy that I found this channel. I've been looking for ways to work certain baits and I have watched all these different videos but they never went into details. I'm so happy that I found this channel
My go-to reference to friends and co-workers about angling.
I've been throwing jigs on my Dobyns Fury 7'3" "Mag Heavy" and it seems to work well.
Same here it works well
I can’t wait to go try all these tips, I love fishing dirtier water. Thank you!
Love the advice you guys give. Hope the fish in lake mead are ready 👍🙏🏻🍻
Flew over Lake Mead going to Phoenix last month and it sure is a cool looking lake! I’ve never fished it but seeing it made me want to. 😃👍🏼
Great tip on adding the chartreuse to the jig! Love it

That Keitech/Tiny Paca Chunk pairing looks AWESOME!!!
Let’s get it ! Good morning y’all !!

54 year olds beginner. Learning a lot here. Thanks!
Thanks Matt, appreciate you guys!!!
my bank account shutters, when I watch your RUclips channel.
Start making your own!! It's easy and can save $$$.
Bro, LMFAO! Every time. Every fricken time. Ooooooooh I gotta have that. 😂😂
Saaaame
Lol...I know the feeling brother! Last week I ordered about $300 worth of Jack Hammers. My wife will restrict my RUclips time like she does my daughter if she had a clue...haha. But it's just like the gun safe, if I can get em through the door and put away when she's not home, what she don't know won't hurt her! ; )
I'm just glad my bank stopped calling me about the irregular purchase transactions, they finally gotten use to it!
Awesome tips on jig fishing in the spring.👊
This community you guys have built is beautiful
Definitely trying that Chartreuse core!
Definitely going to put this tip to good work...being getting skunked since August.. Haven't landed one yet on my new boat
This was very helpful!! Thanks Matt🎣
Love the tip I think I gonna try dippin the top of tube in jj’s
Using worms to add a flash of color to your dark jigs....🤯🤯 What a fantastic tip! Thank you Matt 🙏
Pro tip:
Make your own jigs, I made 750 skirted jigs in multiple heads and sizes for $100-200
- Floral wire $5
- do it mold $40
- lead ingot $15
- do it paint $5
- skirting and guards from TMC $50
Edit: it’s great because you can use multiple colors in the skirt that the bass have never seen and no company will make because it’s time consuming! Add pink or white for bed visibility and have fun with it. I also make my own chatterbaits for the equivalent of $1.50 a chatterbait. If you’re a heavy jig angler DO THIS. Don’t pay $5-7 a jig
Thanks for the tip!
Hooks?
Thank you for the great tips
I believe that tacticalbassin is the most loved bass fishing channel on the earth. You guys are my heroes 😊
I hope to catch my first jig fish this year. It's been difficulty but I'm going to keep trying!
I got an expride 7'6" ex heavu moderate for flippin with braid % 22-25lb flouro. Its insane how much power that rod has for how light and balanced it is. A huge difference in that rod vs a 150-200 rod.
"Hematoma" Nice Name for a Jig....
Thanks for the Video!
Looks unique and like it’ll work
Them pacca chunks are the bomb I been using them for years.I like to barely paint or dip the tips.and it’s on.
Hope you get on the Coosa river lakes soon, that way you'll understand why none of these really explain those lakes, they are so different from lake to lake and current is the key but there is grass wood rock and docks that all fish completely different from current to no current. It truly is the most unique system I've fished.
SMARTEST DUO ON THE PLANET!
Always love your videos!! Bringing the knowledge!!
Nice underwater shoots... the finesse jig is definitely one of the kings on the river we ran into each other on 🤫🎣
I was catching early spring with tiny skirted ned rigs with little craws 👍🏻
Love jigs I think I start out with those more then I do Texas rig.
Awesome video I'm going to try this today thanks brother
21:13 “for the sake of time I’ll leave them in the description” I would watch your video all the way through even if it were 2 hours long
Yep same here!
Great tips Matt

Tim is literally right over the hill right now :-) you just never know where we'll show up.
@@tacticalbassin Oh man, that's awesome! 😃👍
This is a weaker subject for me these were good tips thank you Matt

I’ve never tried those keitech finesse jigs but it reminds me of a strike king bitsy bug jig. I’ve slain bass with those and a paca chunk
i have been using the yamamoto creature bait black chartreuse threaded backward on my jigs for years. same deal chartreuse tentacle flash just behind the head.
Matt's jigs always always always look better than mine when he gets them paired up,even when I have the exact same jig....
Great Video Matt. You ever use jig rattles and when? Thanks
Great information. Thanks man
Great video brother!! Definitely took some notes!
Great tips! Thanks
Need to start jigging again. Been tough lately
Saw you were down at the Bucca Bull Shad store front opening! Are you going to do a video on bull shad maybe even some of the custom patterns?
Matt, recently you have recommended Chatterbaits. There are a variety of the more expensive models: crosseyez, freedom CFL, Stealth, etc. What is the main advantage of the traditional jig over the higher priced Chatterbaits we have been ordering recently?

Definitely gonna try that! I wonder if the chartreuse worm trick would work with a chatterbait as well....🤔
What’s are your thoughts on war eagle heavy finesse jigs? And more specifically the 3/8 ball head? Love the video❤️ this is where I come for all my fishing knowledge!
Y'all really need to check out Gilltek. I think you'd be impressed with there design like no others.
Very very nice 👌
