He had many doors closed in his face while trying to sell the screenplay for Rocky and going hungry on many occasions. The producers offered him money not to star as Rocky. Dude, that scene between Stallone and Weathers where Apollo was basically saying "I want to go out on my shield" was really something. If you watch the director's cut it definitely gives a different vibe to Apollo -- he was basically saying that if he couldn't be the apex predator he would rather fight and die to someone who could. It was a really interesting, existential scene, and in some ways, resonates with what's said in the video about Stallone wanting to stay on top -- basically, no one has achieved the apex status or hunger that Stallone and Arnold had back in the 80s and 90s, and that's why we don't see anyone properly carrying their torch. Vin Diesel and The Rock SHOULD have been the successors to Arnold and Stallone, but they made way too many soulless blockbusters that don't really stand the test of time the way Arnold and Stallone did.
Great points! I've always seen Diesel as very Stallone like in the sense he's a great actor, whereas the Rock is much more Arnold like, bigger than life personality but really kinda just plays himself.

One of my biggest heroes. I always cry with Rocky, he is always there when I have bad days. Today is also my mother's birthday so we always celebrate double at home!
No one will ever replace them in our eyes because I believe one of the requirements are that they are an older individual. When sly was in his 30s I could look up to him because I was 10. Now it's the same thing because I'm 48 but he has years of life experience on me. Anyone new can be impressive to watch but will always come across as a little naive and ignorant. It's a bit like the movie the breakfast club. When I was 12 I was all like "they are so cool. I wanna be just like that guy". I watch it now and still think it's a great film but looking down on them as an adult I'm like "what do these kids know. They need some serious discipline". Perceptions change over time even if the subject matter does not.
Dude I'm so glad to hear that Sylvester Stallone is an amazing person because I can't see somebody who's been homeless before and on the streets who got out of that situation to acting just to turn around and look at people and be like oh you're listening me yard just a bunch of bums you're below me you know I mean like I'm just glad that people have nothing but the greatest things to say about this man because it would have broken my heart if I ever met Sylvester Stallone and just to find out that he's this terrible person who just puts up this act that he's not who he says he is and he would be willing to show it
You can see that on screen ! Stone Cold Steve Austin said that he never met an Alpha like Sly while filming Expendables and I believe him. Arnold and Sly will always be the ones ! No one can replace them ! No one !
I know someone who dated Stallone a very long time ago (late 80's early 90's)... she had nothing bad to.say.... and I work with a guy who was part of the 1980's Venice Beach muscle scene... Arnold told him to rotate his wrists on his bicep curl to hit the brachialis - these guys really are just people
Ahh, great interview. I always love the story of a co-star, artist, camera crew, tell you about a major star they have worked with and its nice to know that many are as we expected like off screen the do choose to be genuine and treat everyone as they would be like to be treated makes you feel good inside as a true movie fan and another question I have for you is I'm a major major Kurt Russel fan he should be in to this action hero list I know he didn't do alot but the ones he did was awesome as my favourite movie of all time list big trouble in little China is up there I know that movie word to word scene to scene would be nice you get something on him aswell may be one day

Dude has still got it, Keep punching Sly.
That's awesome im glad to hear once again that he is a good person ive heard it from alot of people but ive never net him myself and probably won't but its a relief to hear that someone i always looked up to is really as good as he appears in his work
I seriously hope Jean Claude van Damme wasn't one of those actors whom was a serious dick you were talking about but it wouldn't change my view about him. Viking Samurai your editing is top notch I've got so much admiration for Sly and keanu Reeves, because they're just so real and what you see is what you get.
Sylvester Stallone experienced a dramatic personality transformation after the tragic, untimely death of his son Sage. Stallone's second son, Seargeoh, who played the infant Robert Balboa in Rocky 2, is severely autistic, and Sylvester loves him dearly. He spent as much time with Seargeoh as he could in between making films.
I've had the opportunity to meet several celebs by chance including Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, George Clooney and Juiliana Margulies, I even met Oprah when she first came to Chicago walking down Michigan Avenue and I have to say they were all very cool. The one sports celeb I met, who is true to that quote, won't mention his name but lead the league in base stealing during his time was a total let down and I was like "wow".
Stallone is the epitome of Alpha Male. Top Dog. Put him in the Jungle and a Lion would have to give up its Throne. Even in his Seventies he is still punching through walls 💪👊
Stallone had a reputation for being overbearing and controlling behind the scenes in his early days. The first decade of his career, he was the biggest box office draw in the world, and his innate strength of personality tended to lead him to take charge. Not a bad guy, but a very domineering figure when it came to how his movies were made. And, in fairness, those were the years when he made most of his greatest movies(Rocky 1-4, Rambo 1-3, Cobra, Over the Top, Lockup)...Since he became more easy going, his movies have never been as good.
I always saw Arnold as the number one action star until I saw his bio on Netflix and realized he bankrolled his own projects. It then occurred to me HOW a man that could barely speak English was getting into these huge movies. He says it himself. He said he didn't want to be an actor, he wanted to be a star. He didn't want to hone his craft until End of Days! It blew my mind. Made him lesser to me to know that he paid to become famous and made me respect every other actor that did it the hard way, especially Stallone. Don't get me wrong, those Arny movies were really dope. But now that I look back, Stallones movies were right on par and usually more interesting. I give exception to T2 but then that's James Cameron and of course Arnold bank rolled it.
What ever I have learned today by watching the movies of Stallone specially Rocky and Rambo .For others it was just a movie but to me it was real because the emotional content was there and Bruce Lee said about the emotional content is to feel .I feel ROCKY , RAMBO movies one of the greatest classic movies or ever green movies. I love Stallone because in the movies the realistic feelings he gave to others specifically me I carry those principles and teachings everyday into life I feel him every moment of my life he is a warrior he has proved age is just a number.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🧡👍 with love and respect Anirban Nandy from India. Take care man and thanks for this video.

With sly you always though “I’m as big or bigger than him, if I train hard I can be like that”. He’s such a cool guy. Would love to hang out with Sly.
I have meet many famous people. I could have talked to the Iron Sheik at a comic show. Instead I just watched him crush nuts with his thumbs and curse. It was better not to annoy him.
I loved Rocky, and yet I grew up with the idea that Stallone wasn’t very smart! I didn’t really think that, but my mom used to make fun of the way he talked. One day as an adult, I realized what a great actor he is! I mean one of the greats! He created a household name and played that role! I have so much respect for him in everything he does and if you haven’t seen the movie F.I.S.T., you are missing an opportunity to see his true acting skills!
I saw a interview with the writer of the Rocky story. He claimed Stallone promised to pay him as soon as the movie made money, Stallone never paid him.

Arnold grew up in a Nazi background. Most Germans are closet Nazis. USA actually hired a lot of talented Nazis post WW2.
You tell by watching the podcast his daughters have. They absolutely adore him. He's their hero. He openly makes fun of himself and is very down to earth. If you get a chance watch their interview with him.
I just got to say I met my hero when I looked in the mirror and darn I was impressed :)
So you DID see me in the mirror behind you! I am so flattered, thank you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Trick-Framed lol good one !!!!
@@michaeldietz2648 Thank you. I thought it and couldn't help myself.
@@Trick-Framed i’m glad you got a good laugh, I wrote the comment to make people laugh
@@michaeldietz2648 Same! 🤣🤣
Stallone looked the best in "First Blood-part 2". The long hair, the body. He never looked better in his life.
Absolutely incredible in that film!
@@VikingSamurai Though the unrealistic scene where he´s in the water and jumped in a helicopter to fight a bad Russian. Maybe there was a trampoline in the water😁.
I think looks great right now . Guy is over 70
@@PsyKotyK Sly's body type is every guy's 70 goal.
People want to see themselves improve with age, not break down.
@@PsyKotyK But with hairplugs or hair transplantation🙂.
Stallone is the goat.
Agreed
Great ones SLY,KEANU REEVES ,SANDRA BULLOCK, R.I.P PAUL WALKER FOUR OF THE NICEST
I remember watching First Blood at the movie theater as a kid what an experience.
Stallone is one of my inspirational legendary gentleman, his movies are motivational and most of the messages about life's ups and downs can be found in his movies.may he continue to entertain us for a long time.bless him.
It's so great to hear he's a good dude. There's enough ego and douchbagerry among celebrities going around, so the fact that one of my childhood heroes isn't tool is refreshing.
Mr Stallone has a great and admirable work ethic and I admire him. He is certainly a motivational inspiration for me in life and business. He really believed in himself and seems a thoroughly decent man from humble beginnings. It would be a pleasure to meet him.
Don't forget about Nighthawks and Get Carter. 2 underrated Stallone films..
Definitely
GREAT VIDEO!
I will love these guys forever.
Harrison Ford just finished his last Indian Jones. I was sad to see it. Heart broken.
One day, these guys will all stop. Sad...
As much as I love Sly's action movies, I have to say my favorite thing he's done is Oscar.
Met Sugar Ray Leonard last year what a great humble guy
This is great to hear. Always loved Stallone. I had a similar experience when I met John Carpenter. Just a really cool guy. Very friendly and great with everybody.
John hates studio execs, not the people.
Yeah and I met Ghandi
Youre hero is human and that means that they can be crumby or have a bad day...... still respect them for the fun they bring you on the big screen . Thank you for youre video's and keep on sending. Greetings from the Netherlands 💪 OSU 🥋 My heroes are Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris 🥋
One of my biggest heroes. I always cry with Rocky, he is always there when I have bad days. Today is also my mother's birthday so we always celebrate double at home!
To him retiring must be same as being exile and forgotten, like in that Judge Dread scene.
I am so glad to learn this about Sly! Thank you.
My aunt was on the set of the movie Fists. She asked him for a autograph he said don't bug me and had her walk off the set.
I'm sure there's more to the story
Sly is on top because people knows he cares about the work and when you love what you do people can tell
Thats great to hear that Sly is a stanup dude in person!love sly also
Stallone has many great films like Lock Up, Demolition Man and Cliffhanger.
I really enjoyed this video, nice little clips throughout. Classy! Just like sly.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Sylvester Stallone is a great actor very underrated especially Copland. At the same time he does know what the audience want.
Sean Claude is my favorite
Really? You can´t even spell his first name.
It's spelled Jean Claude!!! not Sean you fool!
@@KatzenhaseSean Claude is just Jean Claude cousin. 😁
John Claude actually Jean, though
Great working in the movie clips!
Glad you enjoyed it
Dude I'm so glad to hear that Sylvester Stallone is an amazing person because I can't see somebody who's been homeless before and on the streets who got out of that situation to acting just to turn around and look at people and be like oh you're listening me yard just a bunch of bums you're below me you know I mean like I'm just glad that people have nothing but the greatest things to say about this man because it would have broken my heart if I ever met Sylvester Stallone and just to find out that he's this terrible person who just puts up this act that he's not who he says he is and he would be willing to show it
Love everything Stallone does. If people like the Rocky movies Stallone released Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago - The Ultimate Director's Cut Its awesome!
You can see that on screen ! Stone Cold Steve Austin said that he never met an Alpha like Sly while filming Expendables and I believe him. Arnold and Sly will always be the ones ! No one can replace them ! No one !
Check out what the bad-guy in Cobra had to say about Stallone though.
He wasnt even invited to the premiere.
I'm so stoked for The Last Kumite!
Thanks, you won't be disappointed!
And I'm a big fan of your channel
I know someone who dated Stallone a very long time ago (late 80's early 90's)... she had nothing bad to.say.... and I work with a guy who was part of the 1980's Venice Beach muscle scene... Arnold told him to rotate his wrists on his bicep curl to hit the brachialis
- these guys really are just people
Cool, thanks for sharing.
The gap of these guys is so wide because Hollywood, doesn't want old school masculine heros
Ahh, great interview. I always love the story of a co-star, artist, camera crew, tell you about a major star they have worked with and its nice to know that many are as we expected like off screen the do choose to be genuine and treat everyone as they would be like to be treated makes you feel good inside as a true movie fan and another question I have for you is I'm a major major Kurt Russel fan he should be in to this action hero list I know he didn't do alot but the ones he did was awesome as my favourite movie of all time list big trouble in little China is up there I know that movie word to word scene to scene would be nice you get something on him aswell may be one day
Kurt's great!
Viking samurai...you should inverview Jason Statham on Martial arts and training
All round good guy, love him.
Met him in 82 when he was filming First Blood in Hope B.C.
Sly is the best ,everybody loves the guy.
Nice to hear, never met the man but have been following him on Twitter and Instagram. Sly is so personable and humble, especially with everything he has been through, wheras as some other stars come of as dicks. Massive respects to the Italian Stallion who just turned 77 this week.
My first hero.
Glad to hear even more confirmation that sly is the real deal. And very true words exchanged by you both here. 🙏
Great stuff! I believe that there is still a lot more left in Sly!
Happy Birthday Sly 💪🇮🇹🐴
Sly is a total class act.
He did do it the hard way too as in got the money for the films despite starting off broke, so that's pretty admirable itself!
@VikingSamurai Agreed. He did. He did it his way, and I respect that. He's still an incredible person regardless of when he started acting.
Thanks, glad you liked the video!
There’s still nobody young to pass the to. They need to be a regular guy size but ripped. Can’t be a giant. Needs to be an Everyman in shape. Not too handsome. Needs to be relatable. With sly you always though “I’m as big or bigger than him, if I train hard I can be like that”. He’s such a cool guy. Would love to hang out with Sly.
There’s Stallone, then there’s everyone else.
Happy bday Sly, the Goat!!!
🎉
yup I subbed to paramount for tulsa king
I hope I look half as good as sly at his age ,love Sly.
moi j'ai un grand respect pour stallone par ce que c'est mon idole et pour moi c'est le plus grand acteur de film action de tous les temps selon moi.
Hopefully Rush Hour 4 will be a massive EPIC ACTION COMEDY film.
Happy 77th Birthday Sylvester Stallone! 7/6/46
I have meet many famous people.
I could have talked to the Iron Sheik at a comic show. Instead I just watched him crush nuts with his thumbs and curse. It was better not to annoy him.
Im a huge fan of sly , rocky is my favourite movie of all time
I loved Rocky, and yet I grew up with the idea that Stallone wasn’t very smart! I didn’t really think that, but my mom used to make fun of the way he talked. One day as an adult, I realized what a great actor he is! I mean one of the greats! He created a household name and played that role! I have so much respect for him in everything he does and if you haven’t seen the movie F.I.S.T., you are missing an opportunity to see his true acting skills!
maybe he stayed in character his whole career
What’s the movie where he throws the guy in the train?
I saw a interview with the writer of the Rocky story. He claimed Stallone promised to pay him as soon as the movie made money, Stallone never paid him.
