I can confirm that Stallone does care about looks. My dad met him at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills back in the early 80's,where they were both shopping for clothes. My dad got a gift certificate worth only $50 dollars so all he could afford was just a single dress shirt. They both ended up in the checkout lanes together. Sly commented to my dad, " Why are you buying only one shirt?" My dad, being a simple working man, a machinist for McDonnell Douglas, it was all he could afford. Mr. Stallone's assistant was called, and he helped my dad get two more shirts and also got measured for two suits, trousers, and a cashmere dinner jacket. He paid for it all and was very kind to my dad. My dad is 84 years old, and he still has those clothes . He always goes to see every single Sylvester Stallone movie whenever he can. Great video, BTW.
That's a wonderful story about your dad meeting Stallone at the store. Long before I was born, My dad was a professional contractor in the 80s and he actually worked on the construction crew that built Stallones house. The reason he knows it was his house is because he showed up at the house during construction and my dad was able to meet him by him saying hello to the crew he was on.
I was born in 1994, in eastern europe and we got mostly 80's movies on the TV all through my childhood so I do really love these guys. Just rewatched all of the Rocky movies last week. But it's fun to learn about the rivalry. Did not know that.
@@spec24 yes. Lately, Arnold has been brainwashed by these criminally corrupt left-wing crazies. But I still love his moves. Hopefully, he becomes de-programmed and comes to his senses
Honestly, I love them both!!! Sylvester and Arnold are the best two Hollywood action stars of the 80s. They both dominated! They don't need to fight, we needed them both for enjoyment!
Arnie is my personal favorite but both are absolute legends. These two created a whole new breed of action hero and dominated the 80s. I'm so glad I lived through that time as it was happening.
BOY do I adore both Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger so much! Both men are very successful, iconic, and charismatic Hollywood actors of the 80s and 90s!
This was such an incredibly heartwarming interview, both of these great men inspired so many of us young girls and boys throughout our lives. Their continued hard work, kindness and just continues to show that you can start from bad upbringings and still be a beautiful hearted person
Great interview. Arnie and Sly cannot be compared to anyone. They were the finest of my time. Millions were moved by their movies. Inspiration to the present generation. Real manly heroes.
Man that was one of the best interviews, I did not know that two had that much competition with each other. Also they're Mount Rushmore answers were perfect absolutely agree. Much love to both of them and to TMZ❤
Before the superheroe craze, these guys were the king of action in Hollywood and inspired future action stars.I will always go back to their films because they are unique.
Love them both! Glad they are close friends ❤ Rocky touched my soul and was an inspiration to me growing up and still does 40 years later. I didn't know until the last 10 years about their childhood, it made me relate to them even more. I had to overcome a lot and put in my mind that I would never live like that again and I would be better and successful...I had a burning desire to overcome just like they said.
I always liked Stallone’s characters better, because they were more “human”. But as many have said Schwarzenegger had the humorist touch even as a Robot and this made him also unique. In T2 and T3 you can’t deny he was a human machine.
I love this interview. Shows a side of Sly and Arnold that's never been shed light on. Both of them had traumatic childhoods but it shows how differently different personalities react to abuse. Sly being more emotional and sensitive experienced his past abuse as baggage that weighed down on him, which is the way I experience mine day to day. Arnold being more of a rightbrained critical thinker saw his as fuel to carve his path in the world.
Legends! I grew up watching their movies and have always been in awe of their physicality. No "bad guy" ever stood a chance against either one of em! and although Schwarzenegger is the terminator, there's no denying that both of them were unstoppable machines dominating Hollywood action movies!!
Love you both guys. True legends. I saw Arnold in Cardiff, well it’s Newport but but for some reason the Celtic Manor ICC was registered under Cardiff. Anyway it was the Experience with…. Gig. Black tie event the lot high class dinner and booze. Then he came in stage I wasn’t far from him but I was star struck. I didnt know what to say or whether to wave and try to get his attention but at the end of it all, I felt I knew him personally for years, the way he talks to people, the way he is in general. I only saw him in the movies, but to see him in person is definitely a tick off my bucket list 😃. Never saw Sly but never know hopefully one day I will and that would be another tick ✔️. Come to Newport /Cardiff sly. I wanna see you!!!😂
That was a really good interview... I hope before they die they do a movies together full of action as two old friends who are still strong enough to save the world or at least a city.
All I can say is the older gen of action stars, cared about the entertainment they gave us. The newer batch could care less, and it shows. Conan is still a yearly watch for me, nothing else can really get you into a state of mind where nothing can hurt you. Stallone had some greats; I really like his early career. But even he has never graced us with anything as visceral as Conan. The second Conan isn't worth mentioning and I really wish we could have received the Conan sequel that Arnold and we deserve.
Ive been watching their movies since Ive been alive turn 40 this year, never went a year without seeing a movie without either of them. Jingle All The Way is a Christmas classic. Tango and Cash is my shit. Kindergarten Cop, Terminator, The 6th Day, Last Action Hero, T2, in constant rotation for Arnie. Creed 1and 2 Rocky 1-4, Rambo 1-5, Balboa, Cobra, all of the Expendables etc. in rotation for Sly. They are still two of favorite action stars. I wanna another couple Expendables and that neighbor movie they were talking about. Surprised the Rock wasnt a villain for the Expendables., that wouldve been cool.
brilliant, great and incitefull to listen to you both, thank you also tmz for arranging this. definitely two big action film icons that did indeed change the film action industry, may you two live long and prosper.
I'm so glad to have grown up in the cultural era defined by these two titans - and geniuses (measurably!). And it was literally an era in almost every idiomatic sense of that term. Sadly, in 2024, that era - their era (which is my era) - has been over for quite some time.
A lot of people were probably wondering why we didn't have an interview with the two of them together before this. Better late than never. This will be the one people reference from now on.
About the upbrining that Sly talks about. I totally agree, he isnát successful because, he is successful despite of his background. Coming from similar family issues I could relate a lot.
I know they said martial arts is different but Jackie Chan is on that Mount Rushmore without any question. The other has to be Dwayne Johnson. Not a fan but his movies are action packed and huge.
I kinda agree with both of you guys, if we consider martial arts movies to be in the same genre as action movies, then the mount rushmore of action stars should definitely be composed by Arnie, Sly, Lee, and Jackie. They are more iconic and have a better legacy than all the other ones.
Arnie and Sly have Austrians and Italians roots and their countries share borders, the people have different temperaments. But they actually understand and respect each other better than the common perception of clashing Germanic and Latin cultures and temperaments. I’ve been lucky enough to have Iived and worked in both countries.
Funniest skit between these two and i still laugh my ass off in that sceen is in arnolds movie the last action hero when he walks in the video store and sly is the terminator sitting on the bike
Both are my fav heroes growing up, and I thank both of them for that, but hands down Arnold is purely the best without a doubt, especially when he was in his prime, no one was even a percentage in comparison with Arnold, I was kinda p*ss*d when Arnie was governor, we lost 10 years of his work, we would have had a better terminator 4, and True Lies 2 etc : (
Improbable movie stars try impossible movie stars. 😂❤ Honestly if you took every metric of what a movie star is, looks like and acts like these two are the complete opposite 😂❤ Their one key talent that made the impossible possible was the fact they were to stubborn to quit. 😂❤
I loved the movie "The Outlaw" as a kid. Arnold didn't need to do anything besides be Bugs Bunny to Kirk Douglas's Wyle E Coyote. I'm going to watch that again. I'll get my son to watch it with me. I turned him on to "Caveman" a few years ago.
Arnold was infront of my eyes first, and Franco. Being an ex-gym rat, with Joe Weider books. My gym had posters of Arnald, Franco, Frank Zane, Lou Fariggno, Larry Scott, Lee Haney, Viator, Mentzer, and others. All around the gym. I remember Arnald on Johny Carson eating cookies. Sylvester worked very hard. And, he has a wit 2nd to none. My cousen lived & breathef ROCKY. And, he boxed in the ring at a tavern🥊.👍
I can confirm that Stallone does care about looks. My dad met him at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills back in the early 80's,where they were both shopping for clothes. Wow great story, very telling of character
That's a wonderful story about your dad meeting Stallone at the store.
Long before I was born,
My dad was a professional contractor in the 80s and he actually worked on the construction crew that built Stallones house. The reason he knows it was his house is because he showed up at the house during construction and my dad was able to meet him by him saying hello to the crew he was on.
Well he is Italian !!!
i love sly even more now. what a great guy
Great story thank you for sharing that with us!
I love Arnold busting Sly's balls about how fancy he dresses! 😂😂
People who didn't live in the 80's probably would not understand this, this is a gem! I'll save this video!
I was born in 1994, in eastern europe and we got mostly 80's movies on the TV all through my childhood so I do really love these guys. Just rewatched all of the Rocky movies last week. But it's fun to learn about the rivalry. Did not know that.
Facts. It iconic for sure
So rightly said!
These 2 men are simply the very best... ever. Sly has forever been my favorite actor since I saw both First Blood & Rocky III when I was 7 years old.
Anyone who tells you to screw your freedoms doesn't deserve your praise.
@@spec24 yes.
Lately, Arnold has been brainwashed by these criminally corrupt left-wing crazies.
But I still love his moves.
Hopefully, he becomes de-programmed and comes to his senses
Stallone?? Are you joking?? The man has no build NONE
Easily his best works by far didn’t mind cobra aswell
2 legends real men… not many left of course were blessed to still have Clint of course
I like this comment..
Oh you get a big thumbs up for that....Arnie n Sly are kings...Clint is God
Honestly, I love them both!!! Sylvester and Arnold are the best two Hollywood action stars of the 80s. They both dominated! They don't need to fight, we needed them both for enjoyment!
This is a wonderful interview. Absolutely Breathtaking. Two Great Living Legends. Friends Forever. ❤❤❤❤❤
I love how Arnie's busting Sly's balls at the end. Old habits die hard lol. Great interview.
I'm 55. Grew up watching these guys. I really enjoyed this interview.
TRUE LEGENDS RIGHT THERE. There were heroes back in the 80s inspiring millions of people. I particularly love Sly
Yes... at least one inspired an entire generation to go on performance enhancing drugs. Way to go, Arnold.
This was such an incredibly heartwarming interview, both of these great men inspired so many of us young girls and boys throughout our lives. Their continued hard work, kindness and just continues to show that you can start from bad upbringings and still be a beautiful hearted person
More people need to see this. Amazing
I absolutely love their movies growing up as a teenager and into a adult I use to look up to them both
Both legends
Great interview. Arnie and Sly cannot be compared to anyone. They were the finest of my time. Millions were moved by their movies. Inspiration to the present generation. Real manly heroes.
Man that was one of the best interviews, I did not know that two had that much competition with each other. Also they're Mount Rushmore answers were perfect absolutely agree. Much love to both of them and to TMZ❤
This is GREAT! We never would've gotten Ikari Warriors, Victory Road, or Contra, if not for these two 💪🏽💯
Before the superheroe craze, these guys were the king of action in Hollywood and inspired future action stars.I will always go back to their films because they are unique.
Yes I agree there's only one other who I thought were a big action symbols back then. that is van damme. these three were legends
Amazing interview of the two icons....
Love them both! Glad they are close friends ❤ Rocky touched my soul and was an inspiration to me growing up and still does 40 years later. I had to overcome a lot and put in my mind that I would never live like that again and I would be better and successful...I had a burning desire to overcome just like they said.
These two, were an inspirational part of my youth. They are both my favorites.
Two of the most fantastic actors of all time
I always liked Stallone’s characters better, because they were more “human”. But as many have said Schwarzenegger had the humorist touch even as a Robot and this made him also unique. In T2 and T3 you can’t deny he was a human machine.
Sly is your classic Italian - loves to dress up and well.
Great interview.
Arnold’s psychological manipulation of his adversaries can be seen as early in “Pumping Iron.”
I grew up watching both of those two in the 80s and 90s they’re number number one number two at hero’s
You see why Arnold came up top often, being competitive till the last second!
Arnold being more of a rightbrained critical thinker saw his as fuel to carve his path in the world.
two legends that shaped generations.
I think ..... The Mount Rushmore would be : Arnold , Sylvester, Tom Cruise , Clint Eastwood , and definitely Bruce Willis .
Where is van damme?
Legends! I grew up watching their movies and have always been in awe of their physicality. No "bad guy" ever stood a chance against either one of em! and although Schwarzenegger is the terminator, there's no denying that both of them were unstoppable machines dominating Hollywood action movies!!

Absolutely one of the best interviews ever!
That was an awesome interview. Much respect to all involved. 👍🏻
Two Megastars that I'm so glad were making these movies during my growing up years
Superb conversation.....i learned so.much ✌️ thank you
Stallone had emotion and intensity swartzenegger had physical presence.
Sly is the greatest moviemaker in hollywood writer actor director producer....all in 1 legend
From india 🇮🇳
JCVD will always be my favourite action star.
That was a really good interview... I hope before they die they do a movies together full of action as two old friends who are still strong enough to save the world or at least a city.
Love these two.
To icons and great friends. Love it!!
Os 2 maiores titãs da história dos filmes de ação ❤

Sly has such a big heart and so so smart!
Omg I haven't even sat through 1 minute of this yet and I had to comment. I'm so excited!!
I love both of you guys, all my fav movies
I really enjoyed watching this ;) these two bloke’s rock, I’m glad they are friends enjoying their time together 👍🏻🇦🇺
That was amazing and entertaining. Two of my favorite actors showing love and respect to each other. How cool is that.?😎😎😎👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Legends! I love the list at the end! Even though I also think of Mel I can fully support Sly, Arnold, Clint and Bruce 👍
Excellent, thank you...
My two hero's in the 80's, thank you for that :)
A lot of people were probably wondering why we didn't have an interview with the two of them together before this. Better late than never. This will be the one people reference from now on.
Оба ещё молодца, выглядят хорошо! Хоть и оба актёра не совсем лицеприятно высказывались о России однако за их творчество им всё равно, уважение!
Real heroes for me; thanks tmz. Hugs from Brazil.
Wonderful interview
I see both icon punch each other balls and give both of them credit same time .
Yesterday I watched a clip from Twins where Arnold is looking at a poster of Stallone as Rambo, and laughing.
Now I understood why! 😀
Well in Last Action Hero Arnold go in a club video and there is Stalone as Terminator in that universe
Seen this the night it premiered...thank you for uploading this ❤
ARNOLD : "I am with the second hand jacket" hahaha ..!
Very good documentary and you're both humble which is unique these days👊👊
The Boys Rock💪💪Icons👌,,,,Great interview,,,,
Love these guys
About the upbrining that Sly talks about. I totally agree, he isnát successful because, he is successful despite of his background. Coming from similar family issues I could relate a lot.
haha what is not to love about these two gents
both legends
this was fun thank you so much what a breath of fresh air
both arnold and sly looks good for their age. Hope Sly and Arnold can cope in movie once.. xD
Love this made it to RUclips, you are a saint my man
Love this interview, more content like this on TMZ.
Icons. I met Conan at a Venice Surplus shop. Wanna meet Ricky! -hELLA HUNG
I know they said martial arts is different but Jackie Chan is on that Mount Rushmore without any question. The other has to be Dwayne Johnson. Not a fan but his movies are action packed and huge.
Bruce Lee wasn't around for long but for as brief as his stay was, he cast a loooonng shadow.
I kinda agree with both of you guys, if we consider martial arts movies to be in the same genre as action movies, then the mount rushmore of action stars should definitely be composed by Arnie, Sly, Lee, and Jackie. They are more iconic and have a better legacy than all the other ones.
@@phrozac Good call
Keanu Reeves should be on as well
Competitive young bucks.....now a bit wiser and realized they actually made each other more hungry and have nothing to prove anymore....friends.
They need to make this two another one more movie together
Amazing interview!!!
Arnie and Sly have Austrians and Italians roots and their countries share borders, the people have different temperaments. But they actually understand and respect each other better than the common perception of clashing Germanic and Latin cultures and temperaments. I’ve been lucky enough to have Iived and worked in both countries.
Arnold was so intimidated by those other dudes - that he ended up trying to intimidate them.
Funniest skit between these two and i still laugh my ass off in that sceen is in arnolds movie the last action hero when he walks in the video store and sly is the terminator sitting on the bike
😂😂 I also love the scene in twins when Arnold sees a poster of Rambo and thinks that could possibly be his twin that he hasn’t met yet. 😂
Two alpha icons of cinema!
Heart warming!
37:39 Mark Ruffalo an action hero? 🤣🤣🤣
Seriously, That part is a joke. You need to read between lines
🤣😂
Sou fã ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Both are my fav heroes growing up, and I thank both of them for that, but hands down Arnold is purely the best without a doubt, especially when he was in his prime, no one was even a percentage in comparison with Arnold, I was kinda p*ss*d when Arnie was governor, we lost 10 years of his work, we would have had a better terminator 4, and True Lies 2 etc : (
Rambo 4 2008 is my favourite Rambo movie
both heros
Improbable movie stars try impossible movie stars. 😂❤
Honestly if you took every metric of what a movie star is, looks like and acts like these two are the complete opposite 😂❤
Their one key talent that made the impossible possible was the fact they were to stubborn to quit. 😂❤
Difference between them is, that Stallone is actually a good actor.
I always think of them as Superman(Arnold) and Batman(Sly) and the description of the differences in their movies at 5:38 backs that up a bit
Красавчики 💪👊
Stallone's action movies always looked and felt amateuristic, Schwarzenegger's were iconic
What's funny thing is that Stallone is on more performance enhancing drugs NOW than Arnold ever was in his bodybuilding prime.
My two greatest role models apart from legendary boxers like Ali and Tyson
I remember Chuck Norris and his Delta Force movies while Arnold done Commando as a rival as well.
I heard their friendship was a little rocky at first where it almost got terminated.
Love to see them treating each other so respectfully.
