Rocky is such a ridiculously simple film. It is stripped down and raw but it is such an amazing story. And the score is incredible. I cry every time at the end.
The casting for Rocky was absolutely perfect. I just cannot imagine anyone else playing the parts of Adrian, Mickey, Apollo, Pauli, or Rocky… They were all absolutely outstanding. Even Gazzo (Spinell) was amazing for the little bits that he had within the film. The film is almost 50 years old yet is an absolute masterpiece that tells the underdog story better than any other movie ever made. The fact that the movie itself is an underdog story just helps to really solidify it as a timeless piece.
for me it's anything spider man and other superheroes who keep going even in hard times and also rocky. I just love movies that emphasize the rule "never give up" I live by that everyday. it's started with spider man and just grew with other heroes real life and fictional
This is literally the best movie ever made to me. This movie has changed so many lives and I cannot say thank you enough. Mr. Stallone is like my dad that I never had.
Growing up, we used to have the box set on VHS of all 5 Rocky movies (early mid 90s). As a young kid, I used to watch them front to back over the course of a few days many times over. I think I wore them out. What the Rocky story instilled in me is to never give up, rise when you fall, and failure is OK. I really think those formidable years of my life, and having these movies as an inspiration, made me who I am today. Then, learning of what Stallone went through early on in his career in my adolescence made them all that more special. I recently watched all 5 in a row this past week. I purposely set my alarm on my day off to get up and start them front to back on HBO. It was well below freezing here in Chicago and I just sat there remembering what it was like to be a kid and watching them. But, more importantly, I sat there as an adult and felt how much this story, this character, this artist, still resonates with me today. As a work of art, Sylvester is Rocky, Rocky is Sylvestor. As humans, we are all Rocky.
Arguably the greatest character creation of all time! More than just a great movie, an inspiration for life...at least it is for me. None of us are getting out of here alive and we're all gonna take severe hits. But if you keep getting up, keep looking life in the eye and keep moving forward, then I believe that when the time comes that you have to leave the party, you can go in peace.
He is so eloquent. Many inspirational videos are very focused upon oneself, but stallone strikes a great balance between humbleness and confidence. Especially when he mentions there definitely "has devine intervention".
Stallone is upset that he doesn't have the rights to the Rocky series. However. Irwin took a chance on him & let him play the main character. It was a gamble that paid off very well, but it was still a gamble. He's definitely nor hurting for $.
A lot of people don't realize what this film represents. It's our lives, even today nothing has changed, we still are looking for that lucky break that Rocky represents. Stallone was genius to write this story. I just love him.
Why am I crying? I've the box set and seen the Rocky films too many times. I love the love story and the golden nuggets of wisdom in the films. Beautiful xxx
not only that, but imagine the weights lifted, miles ran, calories burned, along with the suicid@l thoughts that were beaten because of how motivating and inspirational Rocky is.
Rocky and Rocky Balboa are two of the most personally meaningful stories, movies, and messages for my life. Being a fan of the great classic novels in literature and poetry, these two stories (which are, of course, of the same cloth) fit seamlessly for me into the lineage of messages in books like A Tale of Two Cities, Two Years before the Mast, Lord Jim, Grapes of Wrath, or movies like Ben Hur, Chariots of Fire, and others. When i first saw Rocky, i was doing all i could to get myself, my mother and my younger siblings out of poverty and into a meaningful life for each of us. The characters of Rocky and Adrienne i kept close to my core for years. Got everyone out of poverty and into better lives where we could achieve some dreams. The power of great stories like Rocky should never be underestimated in their importance to people you will never meet, but are a part of that energy inspiring so many people to get up one more time and give it all they can, whatever the outcome.
I wasn’t prepared for how these movies were going to make me feel. I binged them only recently and thought wow, I never knew how good! Rocky Balboa is probably my fave, it’s the one that made me cry. 1). The way he spoke to his son about taking charge of his own life and 2). The very end at Adrian’s resting place. Wow. If I had seen this movie when it came out, say at the movie theater, I can only image not a dry eye in the room and perhaps people thought that symbolically, Rocky had transitioned - maybe to meet Adrian on the other side? Make peace with (end) his boxing career for good? Finally slayed the beast of grief and feeling inadequate? It was left open to many ways of interrupting it - especially if you didn’t know back then Rocky would be reprised in Creed. Just a great franchise all around and didn’t need a single sex scene or profanity to carry it 🥹
Alongside with other all-time great boxers pound for pound who I considered my favorites and my inspiration such as Ali, Tyson, Ray Leonard, Roy Jones, Holyfield, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Crawford, Errol Spence Jr, Mayweather, Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, Ryan Garcia, Arturo Gatti, Mickey Ward, Usyk, Tank Davis, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Joe Frazier, Canelo, Pacquiao, Naoya Inonue, Lomachenko. Stallone and his Rocky films and seeing a lot myself in his Rocky Balboa character inspired me to box. Hell, he probably inspired most of the champions and greats and the best pound for pound of my era to start boxing in their youths and become the best at what they do. Whenever you feel low, or under appreciated of yourself, Rocky is a go-to movie and depicts on what life is when it is making you a constant punching bag but also to overcome it and be better. Not only this film is just the greatest boxing film, or the greatest sports-film in general, it showed how boxing is the best and greatest sport once you’ve taken it, it also shows the sport is the greatest metaphor in life. Stallone should be proud about himself on the enormous amount of people he inspired to box because of his masterpiece stories and movies, and also makes you think you’re literally in the movie scene yourself. ❤ I literally forgot Rocky Balboa is a movie character and treated his boxing matches and his fight scenes, especially the Apollo Creed fight and the rematch, and the Ivan Drago fight as a real matchup. Though I loved the Creed movies, it’s nothing compared to the Rocky movies. Especially the Creed III. Though I like Michael B. Jordan, I felt like the boxing matches against Damian Anderson felt a bit too much, especially since I heard the Damian Anderson matchup was inspired by Anime shows.
Married for 20 years, and I have to say, one Christmas, my husband bought me the first Rocky movie as a gift. I was overcome by his thoughtfulness because I once told him that was my favorite movie of all time.
Just for context, $330,000 in 1975 would've been $1,871,000 in 2023... Just let that sink in, how committed he was to seeing his original vision through. The mark of a true filmmaker and his brilliant 1 in a million shot to make it...and he did. 👏🏽
He looked at it with this line of logic; If they’re prepared to pay too dollar for the script, then it means what I wrote is worth it. Then it means it’s my chance to make it work with me as a lead character. He ended up doubling the offer, so the courage to take the gamble based on that line of logic paid off. Now Sylvester Stallone is a movie or film maker legend.
It shows you that it's not about how much money you put into it or how many tens of millions you pay somebody like Tom Cruise it's the good acting and the good story that is the heart of a good film...
Saw this back in 1977 fell in love with it a incredible movie truly a magical film.and the music score was and is haunting everything just fell in place blessed to have been there from the beginning.
Hey, so because this movie had like no budget and wasn't widely advertised, what made you go see it ? I'm curious what the atmosphere around the time of the movie was like
I saw it in the theaters when I was 8 years old. I had only heard of it from my brother who had already seen it before me. And word gradually got out amongst us kids about what a great movie it was so I wanted to see it. Saw it with my brother who had to see it again. Never saw any previews of it on TV or anything. Played at our local theater for like 6 months! The year before, Jaws came out and stayed for like 6 months there too. Now I've seen it a thousand times and I still get chills every time. But it was what was mostly talked about among us kids at the time and we all wanted to be like him. That character was very inspirational for all of us.
The ending that was originally planned sounds amazing as well - very indie, but man... The ending they went with is easily the best closing scene in all of cinema.
Utterly brilliant. Some of the subtle choices that were made that really don't seem like much elevated this film from a heartwarming tale to a legitimate Best Picture winner.
Go the Distance. Someone said, "Sylvester you're ready, and you said no but Rocky is." Ohh how profound. Thank you for sharing. 🎉❤ I loved every part of it.
The best appraisal of Rocky I have ever seen. It gets me even more now. The story of redemption against all odds and the true man that comes is amazing
I was 26 y/o when Rocky first came out, my father told me to go and see it, I think you'll like it, well I saw it-it was the greatest movie about an underdog who "made it".At 28 y/o I started running and 35 yrs later and 30 lbs less I still run... Thank you Rocky for all you inspiration- Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration
Just a beautiful piece, such a beautiful true TRUE!! Piece of cinematic history. You really cannot duplicate the first Rocky movie and it’s raw emotion it’s still brings back memories and tears to my eyes
One of THE greatest stories ever told. I watched this movie in the one theater in Holland, MI with my Mom and brother, after the movie was over walking down the sidewalk we didn't even speak to each other, we were absolutely speechless. I had to do something with the pent-up internal energy, so I punched a parking meter. :) *Not too hard otherwise I would've broken my hand. (A Timeless memory. A timeless love story) Thanks Rocky! :)
It shows how much luck matters. The luck that 1 person, 1 time says " bring it around". That's the difference. There's a lot of talented people who never get that chance. Rocky is what happens when luck comes knocking.
yeah. if Rocky didnt have a cool ass nickname, he would have just been a journeyman for life like Spider Rico. He'd have Adrian, but we wont have the sequels, cause Im sure as hell if Clubber made it as champ, Drago would beat him lol. Rocky got lucky but he made the most out of it.
You've got to be prepared when luck comes knocking. This man is an incredibly hard worker with determination like nobody's business. He deserves EVERYTHING he has earned. What an inspiration!
hard work and divine intervention, sure there are countless talented actors but there wouldn't be Rocky without Stallone. Just like no one could have played the Terminator like Arnold, not even the more versatile and experienced actors.
Stallone is a deep and profound artist. He’s like a musician who’s art has a melodic and visceral effect on the souls of an audience. The subtle threads woven into the obvious theme of boxing are magical.
I loved the Rocky movie when I first saw it in the theater. I was a teenager, and the story had a huge impact on me. I developed a massive crush on Stallone. He’s so brilliant and talented. This was a great video about the making of Rocky.
This is the greatest inspirational interview ever. Rocky is such a big part of my life, he's more than a character in a movie. Rocky is the greatest movie ever and it will always be, there is no movie that will have so many feelings, emotions, and inspiration as Rocky.
Over the year's, film critics have always debated which is the greatest movie of all time. For me, Rocky by far is the greatest movie of all time. No other movie strikes a chord with people the way this does. It is the archetypal people centric film. No obscenity, no vulgarity, no gore or violent depictions of any kind, not even a single word. Hard to conceive of such a film in today's day and age.
Of all the movies I've ever seen, Rocky had the most impact on me. I used to play the theme song while running long distances - over and over and over again. What I got from it was to never give up. Never give in. Be your own man. Don't follow the crowd. Be true to yourself and have integrity.
I will always love Rocky. The story. The cast around him. The backdrop of Philadelphia. Sylvester Stallone wrote one of the great American classics. A character story about a guy who you wouldn’t expect much from, who you end up rooting for and by the end, a guy you can’t help but love. (Just ask the Russians). First watched it as a kid in the 80s and still enjoy it now. I recently just watched Creed 1 and 2 and it was pretty good. Happy to revisit the world of Rocky Balboa again. Thank you Sly!
Paulie's insults in the franchise is one if the best parts of characterization😅 "his lungs punch out" "whatda want i should do..my sister ain't here? Me and use to be tight till you come in" Rocky 3 he said that😅 I love the Rocky films. Rocky 1 is my favourite though 👍🏻🥊💯🥊rest easy Burt, Carl, John avildsen, Burgess, Tony Burton and gazzo ( Joe spinell) and everyone else in-between.
The reason why the first Rocky movie worked so well and is so compelling and memorable even today is because it mirrors Sylvester Stallone's real life at the time, he was really poor and down on his luck and this movie was his shot at a better life for himself, just like Rocky's shot at becoming more than he was.
When im doing my runs on the streets I often have rocky soundtracks especially the eye of the tiger playing on my headphones as it always inspires me. Can't wait to see his series coming soon on netflix .
I was a young man just outta the Marines. Went to the movies with my girlfriend and her kid sister to go see "ROCKY". Nobody really knew what it was all about. No real big names and such. The Vietnam war just finished with a loss, a downer mark on our generation at that time. And it was our country's bicentennial to boot. The Beatles split, Rock and roll changed, the oil embargo was on, and muscle cars were no more. But at the end of the movie everybody was yelling and jumping up and down. Rocky spoke up for us, made us feel good about ourselves again, and despite of ourselves, reminded us to never give up on ourselves. I'm 72 now. Have been successful in life. Thanks Rocky. I owe you a lot.
I attended the premier of this film as a young teen. It was one of the greatest emotional moments of this lifetime. Never has a movie moved an audience the way Rocky did at that time and place. People stood up from their seats and were cheering as though it was a real fight.
This movie saves so many young lives that even Stallone couldn't recognise due to depression, low in confidence ... A movie which lifts your soul is really craziest movie of all time still continues to amaze us since 1976..❤
Its clear that sometimes the holy spirit comes onto us and give us a gift. The holy spirit gifted Stallone the ability to write that script and to use his talents to create a character that would do so much for the good of humanity.
"You hang out with nice people, you get nice friends, you understand? You hang out with smart people, you get smart friends. You hang out with yo-yo people, you get yo-yo friends. You see, it’s simple mathematics." *- Rocky Balboa*
People love the stories of brave men who from climb their way to success...as always from bottom to top..always..its the hussle behind the successs..the grit!! The work...brings inspiration..like sly..like rocky..
The scene that did it for me and doesn't get the recognition is b4 the fight when Rocky's at the Spectrum .He sees Jergens and he tells him about his shorts. Jergens says , ' it doesn't really matter'. That's when Rocky realizes that he's just there for a show and he's there to get knocked out.
Bravo 👏👏👏 Very nicely put together. Despite being a lifelong fan of the films and Stallone, I was enraptured in how this story was told and enjoyed this thoroughly.
It couldn’t have been said better! It wasn’t just a fight story. It was a love story. No story whether being about fighting or love could have been done better. What an inspiration!
ive watched many hours of videos about Rocky, There is so many little fun details about these movies that make it as interesting as the film itself. This might be one of the best ive seen..
Wow the year of 1976 I was eight and this movie IS such an inspiration in my life I remember it like it was yesterday. Just something that still lives in me today. Thanks ROCK (SLY) ✌️🥊 a legendary classic ✌️
Incredible man and movie. Gave me the inspiration back in the 1970’s as well as now to go the distance in all that I have done. Good to hear again!!!! God bless you Sly!!!!!!
Took me till i was an adult to realize the first movie is by far the best💯 i love em all but i can see what he was trying to mirror in real life now with this movie… its truly one of the greatest movies ever written and ol’ sly can always hang his hat on that💯
It makes me happy that Stallone was able to realize his own dreams through creating a character like Rocky. I’m glad somebody “made it” who really deserved to.

Stallone is the worst actor in Hollywood right along with Arnold. They have something else in common. Steroids…still.
This is literally the best movie ever made to me. This movie has changed so many lives and I cannot say thank you enough. Mr. Stallone is like my dad that I never had.

The ending that was originally planned sounds amazing as well - very indie, but man... The ending they went with is easily the best closing scene in all of cinema.
Where's your hat?
My all time favorite character of all time! We all feel like Rocky in our lives and he just beautifully shows it on screen
Utterly brilliant. Some of the subtle choices that were made that really don't seem like much elevated this film from a heartwarming tale to a legitimate Best Picture winner.
What a true American hero to many fans of the saga for all ages families can watch them again and again
Go the Distance.
Someone said, "Sylvester you're ready, and you said no but Rocky is."
Ohh how profound. Thank you for sharing. 🎉❤
I loved every part of it.
True
What a LEGEND What AN ACTOR
One of THE greatest stories ever told. I watched this movie in the one theater in Holland, MI with my Mom and brother, after the movie was over walking down the sidewalk we didn't even speak to each other, we were absolutely speechless.
I had to do something with the pent-up internal energy, so I punched a parking meter. :) *Not too hard otherwise I would've broken my hand.
(A Timeless memory. A timeless love story)
Thanks Rocky!
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity
You've got to be prepared when luck comes knocking. This man is an incredibly hard worker with determination like nobody's business. He deserves EVERYTHING he has earned. What an inspiration!
hard work and divine intervention, sure there are countless talented actors but there wouldn't be Rocky without Stallone. Just like no one could have played the Terminator like Arnold, not even the more versatile and experienced actors.
Your movie Inspired millions Thank you Mr Stallone ❤
Stallone is a deep and profound artist. He’s like a musician who’s art has a melodic and visceral effect on the souls of an audience. The subtle threads woven into the obvious theme of boxing are magical.
Watching all the rocky movies is one thing, but having him explain it like this was something else. 😊
I watched it today with my wife a movie made in 1976. Incredible. I can say its a little masterpiece.
Rocky will forever remain one of the greatest story of the journey of a nobody towards realizing his dream.
In reality, a genius. Makes his acting that much better.
The love Rocky showed Adrian was moving.
I like so much this movie. Thank you very much Stallone.
Big hug from Brazil
ROKKO )) 💙🥊
What an amazing experience you have created for many of us.
Its a form of life, a will to survive !!
Thank You for posting this. My second time watching this documentary. The first Rocky will always be my favorite.
EVER SINCE I WAS A CHILD I THOUGHT THAT SCENE OF HIM RUNNING THROUGH PHILLY WAS SO AUTHENTIC. NOW I KNOW ITS BECAUSE IT WAS!
I like to run marathons, after mile 20 I like to listen to Rocky's music. The motivation is so intense is unbelievable!
Of all the movies I've ever seen, Rocky had the most impact on me. I used to play the theme song while running long distances - over and over and over again.
What I got from it was to never give up. Never give in. Be your own man. Don't follow the crowd. Be true to yourself and have integrity.
Powerful movie in so many ways. One of my favorites.
One of the greatest movies ever made...
The best MOTIVATIONAL movie ever made.....!
This might be the greatest story ever told. Period.
My friend gave me the Rocky sound track. I wore that tape out. He is a genius.
I attended the premier of this film as a young teen. It was one of the greatest emotional moments of this lifetime. Never has a movie moved an audience the way Rocky did at that time and place. People stood up from their seats and were cheering as though it was a real fight.
Without a doubt one of the greatest motion pictures of our time.
Just cannot get enough…love it so so much…just so authentic and soulful…still punching…💛💙💚
This channel is seriously underrated. Keep up the quality content
Grew up watching these movies. Love them.
Just came here to say, that this is my favourite movie of all time.
This movie saves so many young lives that even Stallone couldn't recognise due to depression, low in confidence ... A movie which lifts your soul is really craziest movie of all time still continues to amaze us since 1976..❤
hope you get the views you deserve. Your videos are great
Greatdocumentary,greatstory,thankssoooomuchmrstallone!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Ripmrcarlweathers,youaresorlyverymissedtothisday.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love all rocky movies still watch but I have to say I never get tired of rocky 4
You see, it’s simple mathematics."
*- Rocky Balboa*
People love the stories of brave men who from climb their way to success...as always from bottom to top..always..its the hussle behind the successs..the grit!! The work...brings inspiration..like sly..like rocky..
The scene that did it for me and doesn't get the recognition is b4 the fight when Rocky's at the Spectrum .He sees Jergens and he tells him about his shorts. Jergens says , ' it doesn't really matter'. That's when Rocky realizes that he's just there for a show and he's there to get knocked out.
So glad another person understands this. It is the scene in a movie with so many great scenes.
A perfect movie, and this is a wonderful telling of how it came to be... thank you!
The "Rocky" movies are some of my all-time favorites. I couldn't even say how many times I've watched them.
Greatest story line ever!
Wow! Rocky is such a great story. Classic. One of my all time favorite movies and characters. Kudos to the team that made this video. Well done.

Rocky has impacted many underdogs life to a very big extent
Best film ever made . Best cast ever
I am so glad they let him play Rocky! I also didn't know he had written the script. A talented man!
Brings manly tears to my eyes. You get beat up...but you find it in you, to GET UP !!!
Thank you for your choices. In. Life. And the enduring heart. It encourages. Under. Fire and heat
Wow the year of 1976 I was eight and this movie IS such an inspiration in my life I remember it like it was yesterday. Just something that still lives in me today. Thanks ROCK (SLY) ✌️🥊 a legendary classic ✌️

Well said.
There is a Rocky in all of us. 🥊🥊
All 6 rocky movie made me cry and I now considered rocky to be one of my favorite Trilogy of all time❤🥺.
Such a positive influence in my life. A motivation toward excellence. God Bless Stallone.
Took me till i was an adult to realize the first movie is by far the best💯 i love em all but i can see what he was trying to mirror in real life now with this movie… its truly one of the greatest movies ever written and ol’ sly can always hang his hat on that💯
I was eating when I watched, and it felt damn awkward because I'm tearing up while eating and watching.
I always had so much admiration and respect for Sly growing up with these movies, they are perfect inspirational pictures
