- Decided to go ahead and try out this fuel bowl spring/valve delete, i havent really seen anyone do this mod, but it makes sense to remove another restriction from the 7.3 and who in their right mind will ever run a 7.3 without a fuel filter??? Seems like it actually gave the truck a little more performance boost in the 10-60 and 30-70 pulls.

I took the spring out years ago. Last week, I went to Houston, a 300 mile round trip for me. I was averaging 65-70 mph with a 18.3 mpg. 1999 F250 4x4 7.3l .

just understand this is me driving around 1800 to 1900 rpm with no trailer. with camper I avg 14- 14.5 livestock trailer loaded 9mpg

Would love to get 18.3 mpg. When I got my truck I was getting 10 mpg no matter how I drove, hauling or empty. Now with time I’m getting about 15 mpg unless I’m towing heavy then I get 10-11. I guess I would be close to that if I was not driving on 35x12.5 tires but they just come in handy way too often to go back to street tires.
Just averaged 20.1 on an 1200mile trip from Phoenix to Texas

The 1st mod I did to my truck was to remove the spring in the fuel bowl, but I didn't notice a change in mpg. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Kc turbo!!!! Yes yes yes! I’d love to see that! Turbo and tuner. I run a edge cts3 on performance tune (comes pre loaded with three options to choose from) and it woke the truck up like crazy. It’s a whole new truck!
The KC turbo is a waist of money, all it does is get rid of the surge, no power gains, nothing
@@slomotion5165 depends if you just get the level one, level two and three coming from a stock 60mm inducer to a 66mm minimum recommended injector size for there stage three is 180/30 but actual is recommended for 238/80 injectors trucks are making easy 600hp with these set ups. However I’m just talking here. You do you.

This is in my opinion is one of the best versions of the 7.3 , u got a. ,DUALLY , 4WD, LONG BED , FOUR DOOR , INTERCOOLER , MORE POWER FROM FACTORY.
When I took mine out the spring didn’t come out of the tube so I took the whole thing out and it’s seems to be working good

I saw on the 7.3 forums that 6637 is restricting and the better option is like afe or whatever brand with closed box filter
I don’t think so honestly, it’s a good flowing filter, but it does suck in hot air more as well
The napa 6637 is what i have too and its definitely worth it ....
You can clean those air filters with dawn soap and water I'm sure theres a video on it. Or you can make one that be good info for people. I've cleaned mine twice.

I took out the fuel part inside and replaced my filter and it won’t seal now. Tried a new one and did the same. Spewing fuel out around the cap of the fuel container.

I was wondering if you were going to do this.
You should also delete the fuel bowl heater. It is unnecessary where you are, and when it shorts out, it causes a nostart.
Did you delete the Intake Air heater? Gets out of the way of the intake charge and is a good place to put a boost gauge line.
Now you want the blue spring for the fuel pressure regulator
You need to install the bigboost in order for the truck to go beyond 23 lbs off boost , don't get a boost cooler bc they affect how the truck sees boost. This should allow the truck to reach up to 30 lbs of boost since you have the big head installed in the turbo. Just a thought...but the way this is recommended by Bill Hewitt with Powerstroke help. Would a hydra not allow it to go higher?
FixItNick from what I understand the PCM will not allow the truck to go above the factory setting...The bigboost will tell the PCM that it is running at 23 but allow the boost to go as high as your able...be it by a bigger turbo or a tuner like the Hydra. Hydra sounds like an excellent choice if your looking for a tuner . You can search powerstroke help for the video where Bill talks about this very thing...good stuff!
Just unhook the waste gate vacuum line and you'll make full boost. My 2000 7.3 6637 with hydra in 140hp tune with the waste gate unhooked I make 27psi of boost. Does the same thing as a banks big head.
It's a very common mod free and easy to do. I'm on stock injectors and stock turbo. Just hydra 6637 and muffler delete

Have your alternator rebuilt; you have them make it a 180 amp or 200 amp. I had mine done (180 amp) for less than $100.00.

Did you notice a difference with the deleted valve?
If you want to do a real mod that really helps boost install a 2nd breather on the passenger valve cover , increases boost more snappy and you wont blow out engine seals

wonder how much your iat's would drop switching to an enclosed ducted box. the spring shouldn't really do much more, then remove some of the pressure drop across the fuel system, now the pump doesn't need to compensate as much with the lower resistance in the fuel system, along with the banjo bolts.

Keep your 7.3s running boys I traded mine in for 17' 6.7 three years ago and regret it. All my 17' f350 does is over heat and go into limp mode in the summers 🤮
Poor guy, get rid of it and come beck over to good side. There's some nice suspension mods you can do to the stock suspension to make it ride way better as well.

Looking at the chart all I see is that you spent a bunch of time and money for tiny gains that are inside the statistical error. the difference between 14 and 14.7 per gal is equivalent to saving 34 gal per 10,000 miles. Thanks for doing these experiments. Data is king

Btw...this truck can only be adjusted by ford for mph and trip meter up to a 35" tire...anything beyond that you will be looking at additional costs to have your actual speed be reflected in your gauges...I only know since I have had this done by ford...as info...Dave.
My truck will go over 23 lbs on the stock turbo and chip, you can also dial in tire size above 35's using forscan.

I have the old solenoid style GPR, and I also have a different black plastic power stoke engine cover. It only says "Power Stroke"
What year does your engine say on the drivers side engine valve cover?

Just brought a 99 f350 with a bad turbo that Leaks oil..
the only thing about this mod is.... there is a little tip inside some fuel filters.. motorcraft for sure. that little tit will break off and fall inside causing fuel restriction issues almost blocking fuel completely. my 03 started acting like injectors, hpop fuel related. I ended up finding 5 of them inside there. very hard to diagnose so when you change out your fuel filter watch for that.

Thats oil. Either coming from the turbo or the cylinders. Anything fuel related would not cause blue smoke. Blue and white is oil. black is fuel.

This is a turbocharged engine with an air to air charge air cooler they have done tests the factory air box IAT is only 4 degrees cooler vs the open element under the hood such as this 6637.
I would rather 4* warmer and way more quantity air flowing in.
I put a riff raft fuel filter with a sock on my truck and a gets worse fuel mileage because you're sucking in way too much air from the engine which is all where all the hot areas I changed to an S and W close system it has air that comes in from the front there's a ram area their car a small hole through your grill area to let error in more areas and then it also attaches has a seal on the side of it that attaches and sucks air and from where the Fender it's

You have no idea how HEUI injection works, do you?
Fuel flows around the injectors, they use what they need. No way to "flood" it
Everyone on here saying the 6637 ""sucking hot air"" you forget this is a turbo charged system with an air to air charged air cooler.
Tests have been done factory intake box vs 6637 open element the 6637 is 4 yes 4 degrees hotter than the factory intake enclosed box.
I would rather have 4* hotter and much much more quantity of air vs the factory restrictive air intake.
