Yes the 5" does cool off too quickly for a almost stock 7.3 powers stroke a 5" starts becoming advantageous when you have stayed 3 injectors and are pushing 900 plus horsepower then you need the 5" to keep the EGT temperature down tomorrow I will post a video of my truck with the 4" exhaust Turbo back and the 6" tip
I used to have a 2000 Ford F-250 7.3 power stroke 4x4 crew cab the pant job was blue jeans denim it looked beautiful, my dad bought it back in 03 when I was born and dul straight piped it, it was so loud.
You took it apart the hard way, I used a craftsman reciprocating saw and made 3 or 4 cuts and it came right out. Now you made the up pipe look easy, I wrestled with mine for hours and I hated that clamp. Question thou what was that thing just past the down pipe?? Will you need that for SMOG in Cali??
I also removed the valve and put the power elbow on from banks where you started your exhaust . Covered it with stainless steal insulation so the Cal eco freaks could not tell..
FYI, I cut my last section of pipe too close or basically I didn't leave enough sticking out and it soots up my back fender really bad. I learned from my mistake. Didn't want you to make the same mistake I did. Take care, stay safe and I enjoy your videos.
In California they do a visual inspection on our diesel trucks. I remove my tuner and have the cat on mine. My s&b intake is carb compliant. You can either hollow out the cat or sandwich it over the new pipe so it looks like it has a cat.
How close is the new exhaust to your spare tire? I got the same one but it sits really close to my spare and worries me a bit. You have any advise on this or how to get a little more space between the 2?
The Mirrors on the truck obviously are the older super duty tow mirrors get the square ones of the 2008-2016 model years also the 1999-2016 model years have the same bolt patterns so you can take the front clip off a 2016 and bolt it on a 2001 and it will fit perfectly
Coby Sanderson everything from 1999-2016 is interchangeable with slight modifications such as different brackets. There is a guy who puts full 6.7 interiors into 7.3 trucks and he just has to change dashboard mounts and similar stuff.
my current 7.3 idi i know its old school but its got a aftermarket turbo and a 3" straight piped still not as loud as my dads used to be he had a cherry bomb on his but i'd lose some power with that.
Adam Esterlund no need to delete if it isnt acting up. if he tows he will need it, that valve is where you engine braking comes from. not to mention faster warm up when its cold out.
I Dig your Vids Nick, Great Stuff! I went with F550 HD Leaf Springs, a 3” Wulf Suspension Block lift to get a set of 315/60R20 (35x12.50) Toyo Open Country RTs on Fuel D574 Rims w/4.5” Gap, 225mm offset, for my 02’ F350 DRW. How did you get a 5" pipe from the turbo down? Was there enough room between the firewall and the pipe? Not sure if yours had a heat shield but without mine, can heat did go up.
@rcwildman123 I want my exhaust to come out on both side right next to the tow hitch one on each side of the tow hitch is there any way I can email you and get some info from you on the things you got for your exhaust mine will be running Gibson headers like what size pipe you used thanks for your time wildman and information
@rcwildman123 what high performance cat did you use and did you keep it a 3 inch pipe and do you have the exact info on the flowmaster super 10 muffler style you used
Also it would be nice to look into twin turbos for dual exhaust at least in my opinion better boost too. If you like this set up 😁 Edit. Hmm it seems not man y people have attempted a twin turbo dual exhaust on a 7.3.. has anyone yet??
Why would you go back to the toy exhaust. I love my 5 inch. Be better once i can build my tailpipe since mine is a 97 f350 cab n chassis. I have room under my flatbeds cross members and my rear fuel tank to go on top of my trk frame

I miss diesel tech Ron .I learned so much about the 7.3 Rip Ron.
Does he have RUclips vids still around?
@@FixItNick yes
Absolutely he does and still some of the most informative videos for 73 you'll find
Yea 5” is honestly more than truck needs, I had a 4” before on an F250 7.3 and I love the 5” sound more even tho is prob hurts performance a bit
@@FixItNick I think it'll be ok not that big a deal.
that's very good work 👏 I remember 15 years ago when do the same thing on 2000 f250 7.3 still keeping my truck
That is a FAT exhaust! Sounds absolutely killer man! So good to finally hear that turbo!
Yes sir even tho 4” is better for this truck I love the 5” sound more
Why is 4 better?
@@Diesel_ftw I think it’s pretty negligible. 4 is easier to work with.
Cut old pipe in 4-5 sections comes out easy. Start install with downpipe and continue install from there. Great video and exhaust!
I used to have a 2000 Ford F-250 7.3 power stroke 4x4 crew cab the pant job was blue jeans denim it looked beautiful, my dad bought it back in 03 when I was born and dul straight piped it, it was so loud.
Yea these are awesome!
Why isn't your sway bar hooked up?
It’s called sway bar disconnected for off-roading lol
You took it apart the hard way, I used a craftsman reciprocating saw and made 3 or 4 cuts and it came right out. Now you made the up pipe look easy, I wrestled with mine for hours and I hated that clamp. Question thou what was that thing just past the down pipe?? Will you need that for SMOG in Cali??
Well cutting 3-4 times I didn’t wanna do, my goal is to preserve it because like I said I live in CA lol and she sucks!!
I wish I had 5" pipe nature only gave me 3 inch.😮😌
I also removed the valve and put the power elbow on from banks where you started your exhaust . Covered it with stainless steal insulation so the Cal eco freaks could not tell..
Hay, where did you get that chain cutter that worked like a charm?
14:00 anyone realize a bolt missing??
I did. Figure it had to be out?
You should cut the extra pipe inside the tip, the tip adds a deeper tone but not with the pipe going to the end of the tip.
Yes I was going to cut after I decide exactly how I want tip to be
I went the Banks exhaust on my 7.3. Went in like OEM.
How do you like it? Thinking of getting one.
@@vladmirputin7139 I like Banks cost a little but went in easy.

This is the only good install video. Thanks.
She looks so good and now she sounds so good, also. Congrats!
Thanks appreciate it
Love that turbo whine. What kind of interior resonance do you have with the straight pipes?
Great video. Can't wait to do this to my son's 7.3.
Not sure what engine mods you have. I have a Gtp38r with the stock .84ar housing and its incredible lots of low end torque perfect for the 6 speed.
The further out the exhaust the more you will be able to hear it and also Fumes won’t stay under the truck when when your not moving
If you use a medium sized pair of channel locks it will get the rubber hangers off a lot easier
Thx, will try next time :)
I'm impressed...looks like quality stuff that fits right.
Yup my fav exhaust, I had MBRP before it was ok

Where did you get exhaust from?? And how much did you pay for it?? Thanks
looks and sounds great! im not from Cali, will it pass smog test without cats?
I’ll find out in 2 years I guess haha
It won’t pass smog if your sticker under the hood says catalyst.

The sway bar links? Torsion bars are for chevys.
Yes I disconnected away bars for off-roading lol
You really dont need them on these trucks. They are still I notice no difference on mine at all

Less coal rolled w the strait pipe??
Do the small prices get added or not added by your truck size? My truck is a 2002 f250 extended cab short bed so will it still fit without cutting up the new exhaust

You know your sway bars are disconnected at 9:30
Lol yup we all know
Also it would be nice to look into twin turbos for dual exhaust at least in my opinion better boost too. If you like this set up 😁
Edit. Hmm it seems not man y people have attempted a twin turbo dual exhaust on a 7.3.. has anyone yet??
There's almost no room for twin turbo
M H there not much room on a trans am but people somehow managed to do it
The obsession has begun... now time for some tunes 😎
Tell me about it!!!
I’ve got 7 inch cat stacks on mine sounds amazing
Cat stacks??
The tips are made to look like caterpillar stacks of a loader 45 degree bends
Tip to the tire edge.
Nah to much
Why would you go back to the toy exhaust. I love my 5 inch. Be better once i can build my tailpipe since mine is a 97 f350 cab n chassis. I have room under my flatbeds cross members and my rear fuel tank to go on top of my trk frame
Toy exhaust or stock exhaust? Lol cuz I live in CA lol
