The Hadith is Ahad so we cannot base our faith in it. And also implies some inconsistencies with the Qur'an and other Ahadith about Aisha(RA). If you know arabic I recommend you to watch Dr. Adnan Ibrahim regarding this topic, that doesnt try to excuse pedophilia, and understand the science behind "Isnad" and the chain of transmission.

The argument that little girls were more mature back then, that a 9 year old was essentially a woman, falls apart as soon as you start reading about the life of Aisha during the early years of her marriage. She was playing with dolls, running around with other children. So even her behavior as reported by Islamic sources was clearly that of a child.
Bukhari #2664 says 15 years old is when you become an adult.

I used to know a Muslim guy in his mid 30s, born and raised in Germany. We were watching a movie from Turkey that he recommended and there was a girl about 8 or 9 years old starring in that movie. I am an American born ex Muslim and we have horrible problems here. Girls have kids at age 12-13 bc there is little to no sex education in most of the country, many are raped, coerced, don’t even know what happened, and if they are sexually actively they are not taught properly and also not able to even understand because their brains are not fully developed! My brain JUST fully developed. You have to be 25 for that. These girls are not able to access birth control, contraceptive, plan b, abortion it needed, don’t understand the severity of sex or unprotected sex etc. those who force these girls to carry to term are just as bad as their rapists. This is also true, but don't use the standards we have today to argue against that. This was by order of God, so this is not behavior, but God commanded the Prophet to do it for his sake, so that this thing would be his own, and this marriage would not contradict the culture and environment in which the Prophet, Pbuh

Mental development is, unlike what intuition tells us, related to age and not exposure, you can expose children to the adult world how to want, they won't gain any wisdom and would in fact get themselves into troubles that may affect them well beyond mental maturation.

The Will - Ariel Durant marriage was not between someone in his early 30's and a 13 year old. She was 15 and he was 28. That is a wide gap certainly, and I would be very uncomfortable if I were the parent of Ariel in that situation, but it is not the same as consummation between a 9 year old and a man in his 50's. Hamza Yusuf is one of those people who sounds good until you analyse what he is actually saying. He is certainly good at talking in a somewhat charismatic manner but when you go over what he said you realise that its almost incoherent. He rambles in a somewhat pleasing way. But he's not really saying anything. Abdal Hakim Murad is much more intelligent and perspicacious but he lacks the charism.

The minimum age of marriage for women in Judaism is 12 and 6 months, And it only if she had puberty. Earlier than that is forbidden.
For boys the minimum age is 13.
I remember a Muslim in a debate (was it Daniel Hadjisomething or somebody else, I don't remember) stating that there is only limited time for a woman to give birth to healthy children, therefor you have to get them pregnant as fast as possible, and that they are ready as soon as they started menstruating. Hence, it is amazing to see a person making so much effort in trying to malign other religions and prophets based upon HALF TRUTHS;
