- Mickey Rourke made his first ever talk show appearance on The Late Show With Dave in 1994 along with his beloved (and now deceased) dog Loki, who stole the show.

This was a tough time in Rourke's life, and that dog was always with him. I've seen some shitty comments in other videos about Rourke and his dog. I think some people don't understand how awesome dogs are as companions. Unlike people, they love you no matter what.
Reminds me of Once upon a time in Mexico. Didn't realize he really had a dog like that lol.

This interview is so sad but also so enchanting because you look at him like a tough guy but he is so soft spoken and vulnerable. This made me love Mickey Rourke more.
He’s definitely a good man who was deeply hurt growing up in his family with a stepfather from hell but this man is extremely talented and he knows that he’s got purpose in his life❤

GT -R There are times when you know in your heart that all the “coolest dude” stuff is simply media & Hollywood bullshit, manufactured garbage for the masses.....and then you see a clip of this guy (or Brando or Lee Marvin....) and think ‘fuck, this guy is SO COOL !’ It’s ineffable, it can only be observed and not many possess it.

Mickey is such a good soul and beautiful human being on the inside. I had the pleasure of meeting him once and he was so kind and friendly.
Even when he was having his tough spots in life he was cool as hell.

Oh they just added that movie to Hulu and I haven't seen it yet cause I have a bad feeling about it when I saw it was a horror movie and hes a private eye and private eyes almost always get screwed in just about anything I watch or read but it looks so good so my husband and I are going to watch it in October when we binge watch Halloween movies all October.
I just watched that movie last night and I love him and Lisa Bonet in it. I don’t understand how the film got so much hate because I think it’s really unique and was very well written.
Probably because of Bill Cosby's power in Hollywood at the time.
He was also great in "Diner", "Rumble Fish", "The Pope Of Greenwich Village", "Body Heat" (even though it was a small role). The dog is really cute. I would love to adopt a chihuahua.

Love this man. He was vulnerable when this interview aired but he was still gracious & charming. He needed that dog but he did not have to go on this show (and be mocked). The more I learn about the man, the more I admire & love him. People are often shocked that Mickey ultimately stopped looking like he did in his 30s. There are many stories and theories but most people struggle to accept that we all age and change. Mickey happened to have been particularly gorgeous during the ‘80s (for which most of us are grateful) but Mickey is also a real person- someone who has had to cope with aging just like the rest of us but while also having to contend with unrealistic expectations that he would never change- and unrealistic demands that his looks belonged to others & therefore could not be changed.
What an awful trap to be ensnared in. So many of us love Mickey unconditionally. We thank him for the many performances he has shared with us and also for his honesty and his commitment to make the world a better place through film. Mickey is one of a kind. Much love and respect.
The fake world we live is the same as the school yard. When a person is socially awkward / different people like to make fun of you and poke at a person. Shaming a person in front of others in order to look cool, etc. This world isn't a place for the real ones. Most people in those Industries are very fake and pretentious and suck as human beings in general. Like the cool groups in school, just a bunch of bullies.
Everyone isn't witty and able to navigate all the social dynamics and society uses that against a person. His childhood sucked and a person carries that for life. The dog is an emotional companion for many.
Part of his plastic surgery was about the damage boxing did to him as he wasn't that good and didn't use head gear during sparing guys that was better than him.
Also trying to hold onto age as he missed so many years in Hollywood trying to turn back time, which none of us can do.
The superficial world we live in is so externally obsessed, it's sad how empty and cold people can be.

I would love to hear more from Mickey. He reminds me of Marlon Brando in they way he carries himself and how he replies with great depth
He is still really gorgeous here (at 42!). He went through some difficult times between 1995 and 2005, which aged him significantly.
I think he started having surgery here , but he looked good still , I actually think he looked cool in tbe wrestler too, but now he looks weird but still cool , I dont care

I'm pretty certain I saw him drinking coffee outside of a restaurant/cafe in London, about 5 years ago. He didn't actually look THAT bad. I, generally speaking, hate actors but there's a real vulnerability married to intelligence that means I can't help but think I like Mickey Rourke. Probably a good thing I'm unlikely ever to get to know him or that would probably change!

He looks like Errol Flynn here, especially when he smiles. I met Mickey at Equinox in Soho. I was nervous and told him how I loved Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Then later I read that was his absolute least favorite film he did! He was very nice. I also used to see him at Golds on Cole in Hollywood. My favorite 80s actor without a doubt!

Francesco on 1989 is the best movie he ever made, i don't remember meeting a drama actor other than Andrew Lincoln or al pacino who is as good as him or better. And you know the quality of the actor when you know that he managed to play a saint like San Francisco and then a villain like "Ivan Vanko", in Iron Man 2, the guy is an acting legend if you ask me, he deserved much more recognition of what he already have, Since he can't talk so much about himself I insist on doing so in this comment.

Mickey is a sensitive soul, what a tremendous talent he is.
"wasn't prepared to deal with acting like it was a business" - this is what I feel that Hollywood wants me to deal with when I see most movies, and I don't like dealing with it that way. It's supposed to be an art, like literature, painting, music - I don't want to have to see it as a business. That's a side-effect of it not the main thing. Brad Pitt is an actor/businessman - Mickey is an actor/artist. I like people in artistic fields who don't treat it like a business, but the business itself doesn't.
You also have to be a politician & propagandist to get anywhere in Hollywood. Get in line and push the approved agenda. Compromise art by bowing down to non-democratic China after screeching your own president is a dictator. No wonder Rourke said he hates actors and they're the scummiest people he ever met.

Why do some people make fun of little dogs. Men especiallyseem to think that a real man must have a big aggressive dog when to me it's the opposite. A stable well adjusted man doesn't need a huge dog to compensate for his inadequacies as a man.

@AGentertainment SO TRUE! I never understood people's attachment to a pet. When I got married my ex-wife had 2 kittens. Because she is a nurse i was with them all day until midnight. i have epilepsy and they got me through those times i was scared as hell of having a seizure. They were so affectionate. i remember the first time i realized this was when i was on the verge of a seizure and one hopped on my lap and patted my cheek. I can still feel that cold paw on my cheek. i miss them like hell

his coolest interview... sadly it was towards the end of this Mickey.. of this personality. before he entered the dead circle of transformation. he sort of lives out his roles too.. johnny handsome backwards. and other ones. his best films of this period were bullet, and exit in red. which i consider the last great Rourke movie.
