he actually wasn't into vanity. he was a boxing champ that took too many hits to the face. he needed the plastic surgery to fix 2 broken noses and a caved in cheek bone, he went to the wrong surgeon that unfortunately screwed his face up and then he was a slow down hill he hated Hollywood and would never give in to them so the ousted him all he wanted to do was act.
He didn't interview a couple of years back admitting to his mistakes. A few of them were hardcore drugs and amateur boxing he also discussed riding around with a motorcycle gang.
"Angle Heart" and "9 1/2 Weeks" are two of my favorite MR movies. Oh, also "Rumble Fish"... there are too many to list here! God, he was sexy back then. ❤

I remember seeing him in a documentary with Pierce Morgan interviewing Mickey! The woman in the age 49 pic of this video is who they were talking about. Mickey apparently would have walked through the fire for her! But they had a very turbulent relationship in now it was over. He hurt for her and still loved her! Then Pierce says to Mickey, man that sounds painful to live her like that and to not have her, that’s tough! To which Mickey took a drag of his cigarette took a pause let the smoke go, looked up at Pierce and said, I’m tough!! At that time I had broken up with my son’s mom, my son is now 23 and has a daughter my granddaughter who’s 3, they light up my life. However I’d had a 25 year of and on relationship with this lady and I walked away believing that it could not work even though we loved each other and now had a son and a granddaughter! Those were a couple of rough lonely months after I told her goodbye. And often when I thought I might break down I would pull up that video pull it up to that segment and hear that what Pierce had said to Mickey and listen to Mickey’s response and that would give me just enough impetus to keep pushing forward one more day!! God bless you Mickey you’ve impacted more of us than you’ll ever know brother!!

I remember seeing him in a documentary with Pierce Morgan interviewing Mickey! The woman in the age 49 pic of this video is who they were talking about. Mickey apparently would have walked through the fire for her! But they had a very turbulent relationship in now it was over. He hurt for her and still loved her! Then Pierce says to Mickey, man that sounds painful to live her like that and to not have her, that’s tough! To which Mickey took a drag of his cigarette took a pause let the smoke go, looked up at Pierce and said, I’m tough!! At that time I had broken up with my son’s mom, my son is now 23 and has a daughter my granddaughter who’s 3, they light up my life. However I’d had a 25 year of and on relationship with this lady and I walked away believing that it could not work even though we loved each other and now had a son and a granddaughter!
Those were a couple of rough lonely months after I told her goodbye. And often when I thought I might break down I would pull up that video pull it up to that segment and hear that what Pierce had said to Mickey and listen to Mickey’s response and that would give me just enough impetus to keep pushing forward one more day!! God bless you Mickey you’ve impacted more of us than you’ll ever know brother!!

@@annasloan3396 Hi Anna, I myself got involved with a woman who was as dysfunctional as I. I was addicted to her and felt like I loved her dearly and didn't want to be without her. Until my eyes were opened that the woman I was in love with existed in my head, and it wasn't her. I had to come to terms with that and face the bitter truth. Bitter as accepting that truth was it set me free! The last time I saw her briefly I knew I was free. She tried to strike up a conversation and I was polite but for my own well being finally I was able to walk away. All that from a a line that Mickey used in his interview. God bless you!!

Between 53 to 54 his face changes and between 59 to 60 it changes again n again between 63 to 64 it's crazy that up til his mid 50s he looked pretty normal I doubt it's boxing that made his face like that but still think Mickey Rourke is one of the greatest actors ever
His looks were finished at 45. Such a shame not to see him mature naturally.
While he has chosen not to age 'gracefully' I totally get how he continues to change and grow over the years. Im 58 and wish I look that good.
