"Amen, Deonte! I completely agree with your perspective on the mixing of music. Personally, I find it unsettling when Christian lyrics are blended with other genres. It reminds me of our lesson study back in 2012, where Doug Batchelor discussed how our bodies respond to rhythm in music. It's something that has stuck with me ever since."

i agree with how ADL responded Martin. we all struggle with certain things. and it's been my experience, i have turned my life away from God 2x. I'm still on the journey back to Him. there were things that on last time seemed so much easier to give up. it seems that satan will use these things to cause doubt and lose any faith we have. yet i think of the story of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:22-28 who was persistent and finally said "yes Lord, but even the dogs eat of the crumbs that fall from their masters table." and Jesus said to her, "o woman, great is your faith," and sent her away with her daughter healed. reminds me of when Jacob wrestled with the Angel, "i will not let thee go unless you bless me." Peter, on the night of Jesus' trial denied Him 3 times. do not let go, no matter what, do not let go. if you get to the point where it seems so hopeless, grab the bottom of His robe and hold on for dear life. for He is faithful and true, He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. the message the bible gives us is clear and balanced. do not ever let satan tell you that it's ok to continue. he will come at us with these thoughts. Never let go of Jesus and His strength. write down some bible promises about overcoming sin and keep them with you. i will keep you in my prayers Martin.

You're abosolutely right about the praise dancing. My son stopped going to a particular church because of the praise dancing in the church. I don't agree with any of that dancing. Praise the Lord that he sent me to a church that is more conservative and don't even have praise dancing in the church.

2 Samuel 6:14-16 14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.

didn't catch this part when i went to the live show. I've seen vids of Adventist youth doing music in the church, dancing to tunes such a "Rhythm Nation," "Thriller: and more. the words are changed but the rest is the same, even the dance routines. there are secular songs, tunes, where both the music and the words are elevating, pure, that regard the things that God has given us for good in a true light, tunes that uplift to the true nature of the blessings of God. my daughter and i had a discussion on this several months ago in which we had some differences. she didn't see the problem with taking worldly tunes and replacing the words because it could bring people to God. i explained where i saw the problem. once accustomed to worldly type music, even though the words have been changed, the mind grows more in line with the worldly music, it's beat and rhythm. would this music be something you would want Jesus to find you listening to? as many do when you disagree on a topic, she took it as criticism. recently, last week i believe, she made the comment that she had begun screening what she listened to because she didn't want it around the children. thank God for that. i didn't press the issue by asking why she came to the conclusion or by saying "i told you that several months ago. i just thanked and praised God for it. one must remember as well, worldly music, the type that appeals to the passions, will eventually lead to thinking that way and bring with it the worldly actions, provocative, sexual movements, of which i have seen vids of this type, shaking of hips, "twerking" and such. can one really think this is a way of praising God?

@@Adrian_Mason had to do a little research before answering your question. the bible doesn't give a specific answer. in 2Samuel 6:20 gives the account of her rebuke of David, saying that he was uncovered while dancing and in front of his servants handmaidens. uncovered doesn't mean naked but without certain clothing. in those times and even up to the 1800's men wore pajamas much like women, long shirts and sometimes down to their shins to sleep in. if they came to the door to answer a late call or went outside dressed like that they were considered "uncovered." so any definite answer would be speculation, for the moment. i found one article that mentioned some Rabbinical traditions, but we know how "traditions" can be. there were 3. even though she was childless, she was his favorite wife. she was actually Eglah who did have children. there are cases where people in the bible were known by different names. the last one was that she died giving birth to a son named Ithream. just from scripture, looking at the whole account, one could come any of these conclusions; 1) she was the daughter of Saul, and thinking David's actions were beneath what a king should do, that her father Saul would have never done anything like that, could have some resentment toward David and refrained herself from giving in to David at a time when she might become pregnant. if a woman pays attention to her menstrual cycle she can know when that time of the month is. i know. my mother kept a calendar with her cycle marked. 2) it's quite possible her resentments were so great she stayed married but completely refused to share his bed, after all, it was David who became king after Saul and was anointed king while Saul was still king. if the Rabbinical tradition of her being his favorite is correct, the story of Jacob and Rachel comes to mind. Rachel was more favored than Leah and that may have had some part in Rachel being barren for so long, to teach Jacob a lesson on showing favoritism toward others. a lesson we can see that he still had problems with in his dealings with Joseph and Benjamin. these are just some ideas, thoughts. if you have the book Patriarchs and Prophets perhaps there's something there that can shed light on why Michal was barren. it's also quite possible that her motive for rebuking David dealt with a great pride in herself and for that she never bare children.

@@user-kp8yp1hj5t Great answer 👊 I do still see David as dancing before the Lord in a way that Micha felt wasn't fitting. @@Adrian_Mason in my thinking, to have any idea of what dancing David did, we'd have to talk with someone very familiar with the folk dancing of the time. i've seen some but how does one know for sure if it's the same. i have heard that much of the dancing in the Hebrew culture was done in a way to tell a story and didn't include anything like we think of dancing today. it involved a lor of twirls or as the concordance say "whirling." growing up my parents never told me that, though i never saw them dance. i knew my mom had to have because she kept some old albums of music from her teen years. personally, there is some secular music that uplifts the good qualities in life. if there is music like this, that speaks of real love between a husband and wife, i see no problem with them having some slow dancing time. at home though, or perhaps at their vows. that's about my limit.

About the shunned music my understanding is that there is a condition to the type of music and not necessarily jazz or rock music itself,(that expresses foolish or trivial sentiments). I do agree that specific rock music can be not pleasant as christian music, but i believe Not all rock, jazz or even rap music glorifies evil. Take for example if someone has been blessed with the gift of rap, did it com from God or the devil? If thats the only gift they have to praise God, should they not use it or should they stop doing rap bcoz most rap music is not understood by many or praises evil. Just bcoz metallica arranges melody in metal rock doesn't mean newsboys do it the same way. Again i do agree that a lot of rock or rap is very vulgar and evil, but rap or rock music should not be seen as that. Otherwise if thats the case, a lot of gifted people who can praise God in these kind of music will be heavily discouraged. PS i don't listen to rap am just sympathizing with those people who may feel discouraged for the only gift they have and understand to praise God. But anyway thats how i see it i still enjoy most of what you people are doing, let God's truth be proven through scripture and may God bless you Advent Defense League.

In a way, you could say that the Adventist churches (I say churches, because SDA is not the only Adventist church), do differ from Christian teaching. The vast majority of Christian churches today, are not biblically based. They inherited a lot of heresies from Catholicism, and added some of their own. Adventists follow Jesus and the Bible. Following Jesus and the Bible should be the way of all Christianity. These people who are critical of Adventism all have the same problem, they all assume that just because their particular denomination is in the mainstream, that that makes them right. Jesus told us that "narrow is the way, and few will find it", which means that it is the majority that will not be saved, only the minority. I would rather be in the minority, than the majority.

@@larrybedouin2921 My personal opinion on the texts you presented, so don't take it personally, or as truth, or anti your church: When I read Revelation 12:17 I think "the testimony of Jesus Christ" could refer to His life, death and resurrection (the gospel) , but even if it meant "spirit of prophecy", I would see it referring to True Prophecy as found in the Bible.
Revelation 19:10 I see John being rebuked for worshipping the messenger rather than the source of the message.
Revelation 14:12 is perfect as is.
Now as whether "The Remnant" need to have:
      1) Gospel, yes absolutely
      2) Prophet other than the Bible? Should we look at LDS as "The Remnant"?
We should we test to see if the work aligns with scripture to see if Jesus is the Spirit behind it!
I actually have always had an issue with a work being called "The Spirit Of Prophecy" even when I didn't think to test it against scripture. To me the name applied is disrespectful to the Lord Jesus Christ who isn't just The Spirit Of Prophecy???
      3) I absolutely do believe that Jesus is behind the prophecy in the Bible and John 1:1 Sums it up very well.
      4) I don't believe that having a genuine prophet is required to be remnant.
      5) I don't believe the 10 are the entire commands (order or instructions) of God or His Son.
Please look at Revelation 19:10 again and see if you can't see what I mean by Jesus being behind the prophecy that the angel was giving when John tried to worship the messenger and the subsequent rebuke given.
I thought long on whether to even respond as I know full well the attachment felt to SDA teaching on these verses. I however no longer feel comfortable with that teaching myself.
I know that I will get lots of backlash for this, but I did mention that it is my opinion and all I hope for is that someone will think beyond what they are told to believe.

Revelation 22:11. until then the tares and the wheat will grow. yet as the time grows closer, the tares will show themselves, and the sifting will happen.
