This is from a 7th century CE Tamil classical poem by Iyanaarithanaar
Meaning:-
There was a time when the land was completely covered by the sea. Slowly, the sea receded. At first, mountains appeared (kal thondri) and the plains were still submerged (man thondra) underwater. In that mountainous landscape, ancient people lived and they knew about iron smelting (vaalodu munthonria).
As a Tamilan I am very worried to see the reaction of Indians from other states. They cannot tolerate the fact that Tamil is the Oldest Language. Anyway... Tamil has survived over thousands of years and it will continue to survive. Those people who try to degrade our language will perish over time. But Tamil will live forever.. வாழ்க தமிழ்❤

@@phanirajsrinivasch8108 then why after first level excavation the ASI team which was working on it was removed from the site and replaced with a new team which reported there are no other significant findings later the TN government archaeology department went to court and got permission to excavate after which came all these findings.

the holy grail of all this is a. finding out how we had evolved many hundred thousand years and had fairly advanced civilizations, esp in asia, if not for millions of years. b. finding kumari kandam, the lost continent, and pre ice age kingdom of tamil people, which would require tremendous underwater archeological efforts. the ancientness of tamil is already well established among linguistic scholars who have found several lingual roots of several world languages leading back to sangam or even modern tamil.

Not surprising at all. Human evolution in South Asia is largely ignored. There is a huge gap between the findings of bronze age and stone age, a gap of about 10000 years. In these 10000 years, there could have been so many small-big civilisations
Also, settlements doesn't mean civilisation. Indus Valley has definite proof of people living in a civilisation, which is yet to be discovered in South India. But I am sure, there were civilisations which precedes IVC.
Additional point: We often just talk about migrations of 'Aryan's into India, but often ignore migrations of other groups with definite proofs. For example, migrations of Austro-asiatic people, who possibly came on boats from SEA on Odisha coast 12000 years ago, the ancestors of races like Santhali and Mundari. What a fascinating journey it must have been!

A big problem is that excavations are not carried out as extensively as they do in Tamilnadu and IVC sites.. If they do that, they will find similar settlements on every major river banks in India..
