Complimenting about personality rather than looks is the thing I truly believe in. I met a guy who really liked me for my personality and behavioral qualities. The way I deal with life issues and my mindset. He always used to compliment me about all these stuff and that really impressed me. Of course it would be natural for them to start reacting to more southern content once they start understanding the culture more. If not that, it's also the fact that these particular set of creators and content are lightweight, as in comprehensible by a pan-India or international audience, not only locals.
