Of course it would be natural for them to start reacting to more southern content once they start understanding the culture more. Complimenting about personality rather than looks is the thing I truly believe in. I met a guy who really liked me for my personality and behavioral qualities. The way I deal with life issues and my mindset. He always used to compliment me about all these stuff and that really impressed me.
