Those who get it, get it. Those who don’t… are lost. This is a badass song on every level. It’s also one of their most inspiring songs, describing to me at least how one begins to find one’s life again after devastating tragedy. I’ll always love this song.

There’s something about this song; I can’t explain it. Especially the second chorus with the added guitar. I want to cry and smile at the same time. This has to be the raunchiest guitar tones of any Rush track. Plus there are like twelve of them!

If this song was released on the album Moving Pictures, it would have been played to death on the radio just like Tom Sawyer and Limelight. Earthshine is just as good of a song if not better than the hits on Moving Pictures. Vapor Trails is a great album, everything Rush did they did 100% and stuck to their purpose and mission, and that is why they continually produced high quality music from day one to their last day. Every era of Rush was a blessing. no Keyboards era to, keyboard era, to no keyboards at all, to some keyboards, who cares! the minds behind Rush knew what they were doing. Embrace everything that Rush did, it was all great!

How could any Rush fan ever underrate it being the comeback after all of the tragedy ?
They mixed it themselves and have acknowledged it being a bit saturated, but having waited so long after all the wordless dark events in The Professor's life, hearing this album for the first time was an enlightening experience. This awesome song for example gets me every time.

    • @bluegreenglue6565

I own both mixes of this album and love both of them for different reasons. I discovered this album several years after its release, and didn't really "hear" it until I "got" it. Recovering from horror, from loss, from what feels like unendurable agony can't be faked or understood except from within or after the experience. Too many albums of theirs are my favorites, but this one holds a very special place.

My Dad passed on the 4th of July, 2009 and my mother passed on the 8th right behind him. I am not in a good place right now. But ~ they say that TIME will help us with our grief. I have NO idea what I would do without my music! xxoo Kathy/Daytona Beach FL

Huge Rush fan and I believe this song has one of the greatest interlude part.
Alex's 3 or 4 or 5 guitars going across each other so good.
Get goose bumps or stimulates the lacrimal glands so often.

Nice to learn more of these guys' music. For some reason I didn't pay much attention to this when it first came out but today in 2014 I am really getting into it.

I was fortunate enough to see Rush live at the Los Angeles Forum - 10th row! - WAY BACK in 1981 (for the Moving Pictures tour!); let me tell you, boys and girls, THAT was a life-changing experience! I was a good drummer before I started listening to Neil Peart; I was a GREAT drummer thereafter (and that's not my opinion; I had at least 10 offers to play in top LA metal bands (and two from England!)... but I turned them all down; the life of a traveling musician was never on the cards for me; I spent the remainder of my career playing in small Jazz bands and doing occasional sessions; no regrets!).
