Hey my friends, why don't you follow me on instagram.com/gotravelyourway for daily updates :)
Hi Josh
Airports in India don't allow u to leave as already the number of ppl fascinated with aviation is huge and if they allow non flying ppl to get in and come out whenever they want it might be tough to handle the crowd
Also it's because of security reasons as a person might abandon a baggage with dangerous things in it
Air India operates 747 from TRIVANDRUM
dont use instagram but do you have a facebook page?
Josh Cahill why don’t you review bamboo airways
They are Chennai based they did male to cochin and the cochin to Chennai 😂 a long day for them it was
You blushed while talking about the SpiceJet crew 😂
2:09 Josh: "I was wrong. It wasn't ATR it's a Dash-8 today"
*nervous Swiss001 noises*
😂
SpiceJet doesn't have ATRs they operate the Bomardier Q400.
Chinmay Munim exactly
Right
They took over the ones from Jet Airways but this one seems to be a Q400 with the wheels on the wing
Oh yeah! Wat a great discovery bruh!
AI963 from Cochin- Jeddah operated using B747. Generally used in a rotation route Delhi- mumbai- cochin- jeddah- cochin- delhi. Its one of the 4 remaining B747s in Air India's fleet.
my usual airport routine is to get there, check-in and drop bags if I am checking luggage. Most of the time I fly international so I often spend a little time with my family before I go into security ( they watch me as I wait) then security checkpoint. After that, I tend to walk to my gate to make sure I know where it is and where I am going then I get snacks and drinks for the flight and for while I am waiting, I also make a point of getting myself a lot of gum ( I hate when my ears pop) and since I collect fashion magazines I indulge myself. Visit the lavatory ( I rarely go on the plane) and then settle in to wait. I often make a few goodbye calls and I always call or text my mom or dad before boarding. After that, earphones in and reading commences. Then I board the flight and settle in for my flight to wherever I am going.
Josh flights from Bangalore please :)
Maybe Bangalore to Addis Ababa would be great
Thanks!
Cochin is one of the beautiful and busiest airports of India. No flights on that particular day coz of the work that were going on on the run way from morning 11 to 5 for the past few months.. Now the restrictions has been removed.
About the leaving the terminal rule, I agree it's a pointless and frustrating rule. You need to get somebody from the airline you're taking the flight with to accompany you to the gate and security will let you pass.
Hi Josh,
Air India 747 is being used on middle east routes likes Riyadh or Jeddah in Saudia Arabia. But let me tell one interesting facts, among the 3 747s Air India have, one is taken out of pax service in order to provide the VIP Flights of PM or the President.
Hi Josh ,
I think you were on Terminal 1,2 In Kochi which is domestic terminal . Try Terminal - 3 and See the Difference
I also love Spice Jet😍😍😍
Josh you are invited to TRUPURA. That's NORTH EAST part of INDIA.
Josh is the best and the most honest flight reviewer
He is back to SpiceJet!
Keep it up
Please review more Indian airlines
LM tech yeah he does that so next time they can treat him like an entitled brat..this is his style! Air Canada review was the best example and now he is trying his luck with SQ..Nonstop Dan or Dennis Bunnik definitely way more “honest”.
Hi , great video 🤘
Air India 747 usually flies kochi > Jeddah route. And kochi airport is undergoing runway re-carpeting works. And flights are allowed only after 6 pm these days. I think that probably explains the low crowds.
It's actually the 8 th busiest airport in India.
check in ,customs, lounge and board
Hi josh 🖐🏼first of all that's not an ATR. It's an bombardier Q400. And in India you can leave the terminal building once you've entered until and unless you've not passed the security check or the SHA (Security hold area), unless you have a valid reason and you have not checked in your baggage. You just have to ask to the concerned airline customer service staff and he'll let you out.... 👍
I'm not quite sure, I think while transiting, you've to exit from the arrival. Once you proceed to the departure terminal, you can't exit anymore. Travelled to Madurai (IXM) last month from CCU. While going made the same mistake and got stuck at MAA for 4 hrs. But while returning, I went outside MAA from the arrival and didn't have any issue.
Try Hyderabad to jeddah, air India
This route uses 747
Answer: Normally plane spotting, another favourite is walking about the terminal looking for resting areas so if i pass through the airport again in transit even with a longer layover i can sleep in the terminal rather than pay for a transit hotel to save some cash.
What Airport Routine 🤔
Geting drunk 🍾🥳 at the lounge. Bonus Level, don‘t Miss the flight 😬🤣🤣
My airport routine:
Sleep 😂😂
A pretty entertaining domestic flight review. Answering your question to what I do when I've got time to board the plane, well for me its all about getting access of the airport wifi so that I can go through many of JOSH CAHILL'S fight reviews😃. Safe flight
Hi Mr.Cahill,
I'm a cabin crew working with spicejet, i'm very glad that u had a good flight experience this time.
I would definitely love to see u some day in my flight ❤️.
And jst wanted to tell u that the crew opertated were Chennai base, and I'm Cochin based.
Thanks and regards,
MARIA (sg)🔥
When I go to the airport I check in, go though security and all the craziness, I then go to the lounge to eat something then go to my flight. That is my routine.
Dear Josh, the final moral of the story is, all Indian airline carriers are equally good and bad. Thanks to your two reviews on some of each airline, one review has a good shade, and the other a bad and vice versa....
Pls come again to India, explore more in India as a tourist, please man I'm waiting for your another review on indigo airlines, specially the turboprop one, like which you traveled on SpiceJet in this video.
Indigo operates ATR 72-600s on regional routes...
Josh crew can never be too friendly.Being an ex flight attendant it's what makes a purfect experience for passengers.
As I only ever fly Business or First class my airport routine is always the same.
Check in,up to the lounge then board my flight.
Great review even I'd give Spice Jet a go✈️
I want to know much more about international flight for Scotland would you please try to make review on flights for Scotland
Air India operates the 747-400 to Jeddah from Cohin if im not wrong.
Josh can't believe the flight crew was actually nice to him😂😅😆
air india 747 , there are currently 4 planes which are operating 2 of them are reserved for Air India One( for PM nd President) 2 for jeddah route 😊
Security reasons. To be frank even I don't know the real reason. You can leave the terminal if you don't want to take your flight anymore.
What brand bag do you carry
wow this video was uploaded on my birthday
TRY Indian carriers for international trips like vistara to Bangkok etc
Try flights to and fro ODISHA#India's best kept secret
But where is the GoAir review? BTW, Cochin Airport is world's first fully Solar power operated airport.
2. Air India has 4 B747, out of those, I guess, 2 aircrafts are used mostly for Air India One (VVIP purpose). one is used for Mumbai-Hyderabad-Jeddah flights..
Plz Visit Mangalore airport, India and review a flight from Mangalore to Dubai and Mangalore to Mumbai
Spicejet is my favourite airline
i actually flew this aircraft back in like 2014
The airport entry laws are governed by this paranoia of security. Indian aviation ecosystem is a bit too paranoid of security, because of the dangerous neighbours. Also, not to forget the huge population that becomes very difficult to manage at public places, especially airports and stations. Hence access is restricted.
Why were all the window shades down when you boarded?
Josh " comments section below"
RUclips cc: "sexual lawyer" 🤣🤣🤣
I just flew with Spicejet on one of their 737s. The plane was really old but the crew was nice. Glad you had a better experience this time!
Josh: A number of other viewers have explained the reasons of security as the reason for not able to get out of the terminal, which is absolutely true in the modern context. This concept of "once in the airport terminal, cannot leave", started in late 70s and early 80s, completely for a different reason. Passengers, used to often send their proxies to check-in for them for the flight, and they will get out and wait for the actual passengers. General expectation from the airlines was that they will never leave any of the passengers on the ground and take off, for many political, power and other reasons. This resulted in too many flight delays, and it used to be the case, that the flight arriving on-time was unheard of.
To change this, and remove the proxy check-ins before all security measures came in late 90s, they started implementing the rule that once you are in the terminal, can never leave (of course, certain people can always go out 😀) reducing the chances of delay. Security issues in late 90s and early 2000s helped seal this stipulation even stronger.
But all in all, it started much earlier because, of proxy check-ins and people wandering out of airports after check-ins, causing delays. (Believe it or not, have seen it with my own eyes as a kid, people would go out for food outside the airport, after their check-ins)
Also, Kochi airport gets totally busy in the evening and night, and not much during the day.... As there are more international flights that come in.
Most lousy rule ever. What if you decide not to fly out for some reason? What do you do?
@@fernsandpines4262 you can of course come out, but in that case you will have to surrender the boarding pass and the airline with which you were supposed to fly will have to provide some proof to the airport security personnel that you have not checkd-in any luggage. Same procedure applies of you miss a flight as well🙄
@@fernsandpines4262 you can leave the airport but cannot checkin again dumb😂😂😂

Leaving the airport is tough too. As tough as getting in. You can leave the airport tho, the airline staff will come with you, and at the gate there is a register that will have to be filled by the staff. It will include your name, ticket number, date time and reason why you could not take your flight.
3:33 they are resurfacing the runway, so there's no flights in the day time for two months, the flights operates between evening 6.00pm to 10.0am.

Check the tickets of people entering the airport. Simple as that. And let them leave when they want to.
@@martin912 yes but what if they leave without their baggage inside the terminal without going through security check
And if that bag has an explosive you cannot help it
Hope you get the point
In Indonesia they checked your ticket and scanned your baggage at every entrance of the airport. Maybe they should do it like that?
@@martin912 Yes you are right. I think at Indian airports also they should check baggage at the entrances
Looks like the video was shot in September 2019 during Navaratri- I can see the doll display or 'Golu' behind you at Chennai airport!
Can I just say that I'm grateful that you're repping India in, like, a perfectly normal and sane manner? You're neither denigrating it nor fetishising it, you're neither unfairly castigating the country and acting like it's a desolate, godforsaken place nor acting like a sycophant and whitewashing its bad parts - you're just presenting the country *as it is* by documenting what is considered a relatively mundane thing in the 21st century - hopping on a plane. The act of documenting that which is considered a mundanity does help normalise the country's image somewhat, like hey: people in the country actually live normally and catch planes and go to school and work like normal human beings and aren't living in hellholes that are disconnected from civilisation nor are they out to scam, cheat, or pose a problem to you at your every waking moment. They're just like you or me. Who would've thought!
I'm so tired of seeing India and its people being dehumanised by the outside world as if the rest of the world doesn't have skeletons in their closet (don't we all?), so - keep doing what you do! Maybe catch a flight to the Indian Himalayan states for your next trip report. Try the city of Leh, in the Union Territory of Ladakh, or the city of Gangtok, in the state of Sikkim. Should make for some interesting reports.

Having worked as cabin crew on both 737s and Dash 8s, I think the difference you find between crews is that it is more relaxed working on a smaller plane with less passengers. I’ve found the passengers much more approachable, easy going and friendlier.

Air India B744 (VT-ESP)
You can leave the airport from the check-in area and come back again, the CISF(security) usually just requires an airline staff to escort you till the exit gate. Spicejet staff at counters could have helped you with that.
And I don't know what was your departure time but there's an airport closure everyday in Kochi (0430-1230 UTC) due to runway re-carpetting for a few months. That's probably the reason for almost no aircraft movement.
True, i was also wondering why it was so empty in Kochi, provided it is the busiest airport in the state of Kerala.
hey josh happy to see you again in kochi , welcomes you to visit kerala once.... air india operates 747 to jeddah KSA from kochi daily. and about the less flights, runway resurfacing is going on there in kochi. because of that flight operations stops @ 10.00 am and will resumes on 6.00 pm.Kochi is the seventh largest airport in india, with morethan 50 international flights to middle east, turkey, south east asia, and all over india. emirates 777 - 300, qatar a 330, saudia 777, kuwait 777, air india 747 - 400, 787, 737, indigo a321 neo, a 320, all operates from kochi. wish you all the very best and looking for some videos from latin american airlines .....hope you are well and peace up josh .... and i miss our jet airways..........................

The cochin terminal looks better now..i was there in 2016 and it looked like dim light cargo terminal
Old n outdated toilet, nothing great to eat..v v few seats
However, i suggest having a good hearty meal before boarding any domestic flight preferably in smaller cities as neither the small airports nor the budget airlines will provide a decent meal
Correction: i was in the arrival area having arrived via jet airways from Bombay..so can't really say much abt departure area
Looks good in the video though

Hi josh sir , you are right that you cannot leave the airport or terminal until the next flight time because its AAI Act law in India..... the law states that if you are in terminal for your next flight or connecting flight then you are not allowed to leave the terminal until your flight time whether is 4hr or 24hr . This law setup in india since 1994 and the artical number is 55 of 1994 . I give you detail of link below:-
www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/rtidir/gazzete7.pdf
So enjoy the flight..And stay safe, safe journey and have good day😊😊😊🛬🛬🛬
Ok, but that still doesn't explain why this law was made in the first place?
@@martin912 I didn't understand what you say. This Law in India because for the terrorism as you know that there are many terroist threat us and even if you search in net you see that one Indian Airline were Hijacked many years ago and also Kashmir are there which is main reason about this law as we know that everyday our neighboring country threat us and many bomb blast occur in India as well as terrorism are there India and recent CAA Law are declared by our Honorable PM Modi and that's why this law setup in India
@Josh,, They have a Dash Q400, not an ATR. Air India (Alliance Air), Indigo and TrueJet operate the ATR fleet in India. Cochin is amongst the busiest Non-Metro Airports in India, with frequent flights to Gulf/RoIndia/SEAsia and even seasonal ones to Russia!

Nice to hear that sir, All the Indian aviation enthusiasts love SpiceJet as our favorite Low Cost Airline specially their Cabin Crew who are trained to perfection! I'm flying with SpiceJet on the 19th from BLR-DEL with SG8906 and i've upgraded me to SpiceMax with priority check-in, baggage collection, lounge access and a full meal onboard with pillows and blankets and the 5 star service onboard as always which definitely outstages Vistara's overhyped premium economy who's service isn't even anywhere near 5 star as well as IndiGo's XL and GoAir's GoBusiness and SpiceJet isn't even rude to aviation enthusiasts for taking pictures of videos like other's which is just beyond 5 stars for any aviation enthusiast, As i've said time and again that SpiceJet never disappoint's! :)

Could i ask, why do most FAs from spicejet never look at the passengers while boarding. Salutations from Spain
Kochi was undergoing runway re-carpeting then. So airport had no operational flight from 10:00 hrs IST to 18:00 hrs IST.
1:56 Even we don't know the logic behind this 😂🙌
Hi Josh, Just wanted to explain what you were asking about. Basically the Alert Level of Aviation Security differs with times and countries. The rule came about because of passengers that could cause hurt or harm to the terminal areas by leaving a Suspect Bag or incendiary device and leave. You are indeed allowed to exit however, there is a log entry to be made with the help of an airline ground staff who would take you to one particular exit gate where the Security Forces would make an entry with your Basic Details and that of your travel. While I do know its quite an inconvenience and different from other countries do keep in mind the Agency in Charge and the CISF has kept the skies safe for more than a decade. There are many reasons for India's alert level being so high which I would love to explain but probably isn't the right place to do so. I sincerely hope this gives you a bit of an explanation of the law that you sadly had to encounter and also a solution to help you the next time. Kind regards :)

Yes it is a strange law
There was once a Kuwaiti man who entered Bangalore airport on a ticket with his family, his family take the flight to Kuwait but he booked his flight just to get inside the airport.
He was later arrested and detained .
If you plan to enter the boarding area and don't intend to take your flight , you're gonna have severe consequences.
Secondly, if your flight is cancelled. They might let you out if the airline let's you because of a delay on their end
Once, a similar thing happened to someone whom I know...while flying Kingfisher airlines from BLR airport back in 2009, but no one said anything when his relative left the terminal. It all happened casually.
Why do the have this law? I don't get it. ^^
Josh I wish you try Philippine Airlines Business Class From U.K to Manila
Ofcourse you can leave the terminal until and unless you have crossed the security check. I have done this several time even though i got the boarding pass for both the flights in case of a layover in the very first airport itself.
He's talking about the fact that you cannot leave the terminal once you have entered to check-in. If you don't want to take your flight anymore, there is a procedure of cancellation for your ticket and the same has to be informed to the CISF by the airline representatives, who will then allow you to leave.
Wonderful review. BTW Cochin airport is run by solar energy as it's the first green airport in india.

Kochi Airport is undergoing runway re-carpating work during daytime. Therefore there are no aircraft movements during daytime. Else it's the 8'th busiest airport in India, with many International connections mostly to the UAE and many other Middle Eastern countries and South East Asian countries.
Due to security reasons, we (Indian airport) don't allow the passenger to leave the airport if he already gained access to the terminal, and yes if he/she missed his/her flight or not willing to go.....there are some certain procedures to follow.
obviously cannot explain the security reason in the public forum as it's kinda confidential .......next time when u visit India plz connect with me..... will surely catch u up and will explain you over a cup of coffee.

There is no such law, someone probably lied to you on your face. You can leave from the arrival side, and all airport departures and arrivals are connected.
Gaurav Pramanik the way he makes money is to bitch about Sam chui on youtube, be a hypocrite and cant handle criticism himself(SQ review is the best example) and then an entitled rant that would make him perceived as “honest” and “popular”. He is definitely more honest than Sam Chui but less so than others like Dennis Bunnik or Nonstop Dan
Josh, the thing is, by now you are in all the databases of all major Arilines and perhaps they have flagged you as a passenger who has to be taken extra care of or doted upon because of your RUclips channel. So in order to maintain the genuine flight experience that is expected from this channel, perhaps you need to employ new faces who would fly on your behalf and relate their candid experiences to you after which you can share with us

Good job Josh. I've traveled in the spicejet dash 8 q400. Found it better than most of their 737s. Like your previous video in a spicejet 737.That was a nightmare flight😔😔😔
Josh you also must know that South India (eg: Kochi) is very different from North India. The term "Indian" is just a nationality and not ethnicity. Most Indian states have different languages . North India has Indo-Aryan Languages and the Southern 5 States have Dravidian Languages. Just for your information!
I have flown with most airlines in India and my experience with Spicejet had been the worst on two occasions and I will never fly them again. The aircraft had cockroaches jumping out, etc. Wish I took a photograph
Air India flies its 747s mostly on domestic routes(i don't know the point, but they even operate some 777-300ers domestically) and a few nearby international routes as flights to Saudi, etc. As for why it departs from terminal 3 is that AI doesn't operate from domestic terminals wherever there are 2 or more terminals because earlier they used to be an only international airline and that vibe hasn't quite left.
Josh, that’s the difference between North Indian And South Indian Crew...NI CrewR more stuck up as u go down South they are much nicer and kind and helpful
I know you don't like Vistara that much, but could I request you to review their 787-9 which will be used for long haul flights. Just want to know your opinion on their long haul product.
1:40 not true, if you want to leave you can but your airline has to sign you out and cancel the boarding pass. Basically they will walk with you till security and sign a register that lets you out but if you enter you will need a fresh boarding card. It's a security precautions all thanks to Pakistan and their you know what.
At Kochi airport, most of the flights are departing or arriving in the evening or midnight (most middle eastern carriers like Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, etc) that's why the airport is less busy during daytime.
It is a very good airline. Not everyone can be smiling for every passenger every single time. For a proper research you should have a sample size of at least 100-200 flights with one airline within 1 year. I am just saying a number right now to explain my point.
