Go to us or europe and see their standard carriers, airlines are not working on 50% margins like in 60 or 70, they are a basic transport today whos work is place a to place b with 1 to 2 % profit margins at best.

@@arindammahapatra5651 I say allegedly because there can be times where aircraft deliveries don't always happen properly. It's possible for some aircraft that get built for one airline get transferred to another airline if somehow a payment goes wrong with the first airline.

For now it's 470 aircraft but it can change at any time.

Middle Eastern airlines became rich ferrying Indian passengers too and fro from India to middle east since they were allotted more quota compared to the other private arilines of India by ministry of civil avaiation. Since Air India was also dwindling in crisis due to mismanagement and burgeoning loss the airline such as Emirates , Qatar and Etihad took over its share of passenger as well. Hopefully Air India will again reclaim its lost throne as best full service carrier as it used to be in till 70's.

As far as the hard product is concerned, I am still not sure. They would have so many different products in the future. 4 different types of 777s (Delta's, Etihad's, Singapore Airlines) leased with Air Indias newly introduced cabins for their 777s. So that makes it five different 777 cabins. Then you have the A350s, 6 of them with the Aeroflot cabins and the rest 34 to be delivered with the new Air India Cabins. You just don't know what hard product you would get if you decided to fly long haul with them.

Give Air India another two years.. with new airbus's and revanp of entire admin, retraining of crew, overhauling of looks and arsthetic, i am sure it will be on par with other A grade airlines. btw, Air India just changed its logo

I was curious if your glowing report of the crew during the flight was due to some of them recognizing you or was it genuine. Your summary from the hotel let me know it was real and Air India is on its way to returning to days of old. Add their new colors on the planes that was announced earlier this week shows the "Tata Effect" is taking hold. Let's hope it continues.

@joshcahill I was wondering if you were considering / would consider flying on Delta’s inaugural from LAX to AUK on 28OCT. It is a *completely new* route for arguably the best US based international carrier, not a renewal of an old one. It will be on a reconditioned LATAM A350, so while it is not on the A/C with the Delta One Suite product, it should nonetheless be a very momentous beginning for US/LAX service and one of the worlds most beautiful and exotic lands. I hope you will consider it, I think it will be very a memorable day for all involved. I love your channel and your takes on aviation, my life. 🙏

@JoshCahill, just one question. When you do these reviews, do you need to inform the airlines about this and on which flight you will go onto? Because if so, will they be so kind and happy because of you, or will they do the same service to me or anyone else?

Air India will be an airline that will become air line of the choice. I have been following this airline for long and seen unprecedented changes and improvement. Previously the staff had no accountability and the management both stationed at the airports and other places were extremely corrupt. It was common to buy an economy class ticket and get upgraded to a business class. Now it has more or less disappeared as the new management is focused on the revenue loss.
It is a question of time and not if the airline is moving to become one of the greatest airline

Hi Josh, I have to commend you for your reviews on mainstream airlines and highlighting the issues you encounter on your travels. You are very professional and fair in your critiques but always trying to find the best in even some of the less extravagant airlines. Both you and your fellow vlogger Noel Phillips are exceptional in your reviews. I am not sure if you have ever witnessed a screaming match with a member of cabin crew was with an elderly passenger trying to squeeze past some lady to reach a window seat. It actually stunned me that a member of British Midland could vent their anger on any passenger. It continued during the 1.5 hour flight. I did try to intervene to calm the situation and told exactly where I could shove my comments, yhe old man was totally stunned for the whole flight.
A couple of days later I put pen to paper and fired off a letter to the Crew Admin section. And I got a very prompt courteous and pro active response from their H.Q. even offering me compensation for the flight which I declined as the focus should have been directed at the elderly gentleman. How do you recover from a car crash sort of flight. Would be interested to know your thoughts??
Saw your video on Middle East Airlines which inspired me and will be heading on a trip with them soon along with Turkish Airlines Quater and Air Arabia. The true experience will take effect. Blue skies ofcourse.

Hi Josh, just connected to your channel. I love your way of storytelling. Congratulations! I also fly almost every week, so I am super interested in your thought. Regards to Air India: I booked a flight for my daughter this spring for my daughter , her feedback in a nutshell: never ever again. The 787 they used from Dheli to Sydney was only six years old, but it was worn down. Dirty, smelly and all of that. She flew coach class. She liked the food very much, but the rest was terrible. Let’s see how they move on, but for the moment i would not book them. Cheers Reinhard

Good review Josh but as others have noted your reputation may have improved service. One often experiences the best service culture throughout India, especially in good hotels, restaurants, retailers etc. Therfore the drop in service standards at Air India over the decades reflects the horrible approach to work ethic from the top down. I'm afraid i won't be willing to fly with AI for a few years still.

It’s good to see Air India under new ownership with the Tatas. There was a time when both Air India and Pakistan International were the pioneers of air travel and quality of service from the subcontinent. It’s sad to know that PIA hasn’t done anything due to whole multitude of issues.

I travel to both India and Pakistan. From Geneva you don’t get direct flights to South Asian destinations. I would love to experience a direct flight with an improved Air India.
Privatization and foreign management could also be a solution for PIA. The only problem you can over come quality of service and quality of planes. Negligence in flight safety and negligence in pilot training and experience is going to be hard to brush off for PIA.
Flights are very good on GCC airlines and Turkish Airlines but transiting through a hub can be hectic.
I personally was impressed by Vistara. I found it better than Indigo.

Recently travelled with AIR INDIA on 29/OCT/2023. SYD-DEL and DEL-SYD. While going food was terrible, on contrary while coming back food was grate. The conclusion i came on food being terrible might have been stored at non regulated temperatures. My checkin luggage was 32 paid Rs6200. around Rs3000/Kg. Luckly Hand luggage was not wighed otherwise another extra 2kgs should be paid. seating was good. Enertainment system was not working. Attender button not working and service of attenders still needs to be improved. Need more helping nature people. Even on arrival to sydney Declaration forms are not provided. All remotes of entertainment system are in broken condition. Overall rating 3/5 or 5.5/10. only imrovement i found is with pilots on landing and takeoff, It was smooth even that was terrible few years back.
