I am arriving in India for the first time! Join me on a journey from Thailand to Delhi, India. Delhi is not only the biggest city in India, it's also one of the biggest cities in the world with over 32 million people. How will it be to arrive in such a mega city? Delhi is only going to be the first stop for me on my journey in India. Over the next weeks I will also leave New Delhi and travel to different areas of India. But for now I am happy to be in Delhi, India and explore this interesting mega city. Join me!

If you don't want to have stomach issues, prefer eating at the hotel you are staying at. You can get your meal prepared according to you.
      In Delhi you can try
      1 parantha
      2 chole bhature
      3 lassi to drink
In south Indian dishes you can try
      Idli Vada
      Dosa
Ice cream & shakes at Nirulas Connaught place in Delhi
You can try food at hotel Sheraton
      Leela ambience
      Itc maurya

India is my absolute favourite destination.
My first trip to India was back in 2016 and again in 2018. I spent 4 months backpacking and staying with families and NGO’s.
My first impression of Delhi was like yours.
The airport was clean, comfortable and duty free excellent.
We took a taxi into town and the beginning of the drive from the airport was clean and well maintained.
Then we hit the organized chaos of Delhi.
Loved every moment of my time there and visited Chandi Chowk and Red Fort.
I do prefer smaller places and really enjoyed McLeod Gang and Ram Jula.
Great place to visit, very hospitable and kind people.
Looking forward to going south next time.

As of tourist places , completely skip purani Dilli i.e. old one (Jama Masjid , Chandni Chowk , Spice market etc.) & rather visit these on a cooler day -
    1. Parliament of India
    2. President House
    3. Rajpath
    4. Rail Museum , Chankyapuri
    5. Santushti Arcade , Chanakyapuri
    6. National Muesum (contain 1000s years old Harappan artefacts & all)
    7. Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (place where Gandhi was murdered , now a museum)
    8. Bangla Sahib Gurudwara
    9. Jantar Mantar
    10. Connaught Place
    11. Zoo
    12. Humayun Tomb
    13. Akshardham Temple
    14. Kutub Minar
    15. Lotus Temple
Kindly note 1-10 falls in the New Delhi zone & so can be covered in a single , large stretch from dawn to dusk or in 2 days . Similarly 11 & 12 simply face each other across the road while 13 a few km from 12 in a straight line . Also besides these places , there are many magnificient malls in Delhi NCR which you can look up online . Lastly , you may prefer to skip places you are not interested in .
As of markets , prefer these :
    1. Lajpat Nagar
    2. GK Market
    3. South Extension
    4. Khan market
    5. Janpath / Connaught Place
    6. Karolbagh
    7. Rajouri Garden market
    8. Sarojini nagar (cheapest of all)
Then there are specialised markets like Nehru Place for electronic items .
As of food , Delhi is a non-veg heaven but at right places only which again are in hundreds . For eg. Chicken Curry at Rajendar da Dhaba - ff to 6:07 ruclips.net/video/JF8dSeWlLO0/видео.html&pp=ygURcmFqaW5kZXIgZGEgZGhhYmE%3D
Or Butter Chicken at Havemore - ruclips.net/video/9aX5Xe0EbUQ/видео.html&pp=ygUXaGF2ZW1vcmUgYnV0dGVyIGNoaWNrZW4%3D
But again this is subjective so you may find these dishes even better at other places so explore more online or word of mouth . Also there are plenty of non-veg varities than your stereotyped Butter Chicken Curry & Tikka Masala so try them . Try Mutton dishes too .
As of veg food , again there are plenty of renowned ones so search online or word of mouth . For eg. the ones I had & recommend are Chholey Bhature & Rajma Chawal at Baba Nagpal corner in Amar Colony or Chur Chur Aloo Naan at Chawla Paharganj etc.
And as a word of caution , don't just randomly pick any tom dick harry stall at roadside and never at cheap carts with unhygenic food with run of mill taste or worse . Better search online or word of mouth for renowned places .
As of staying , just stay away from Paharganj & rather choose a good Airbnb in Lajpat Nagar , Hauz Khas , Greater Kailash or any good area of Delhi which are in plenty . Or depending on budget , any 3 to 5 star hotel in these areas or Aerocity . Google MMT , Agoda , Tripadvisor etc

You either hate Delhi or love it! There is no middle ground. I’ve been 8 times and obviously i love Delhi. Paharganj is my favourite place to base myself. Can recommend casa central and natraj for budget accommodation and SAMS BAR for people watching while enjoying a beer or cocktail if you’re lucky enough to get a table overlooking MAIN BAZAAR.Usually you can only withdraw 10,000 rupees from atm. Exiting the airport is a lot less chaotic then it used to be now that autos aren’t allowed in.My best advice is to always agree on a price before proceeding further and dont get tricked by auto drivers to go via any market or store. Offer them an extra 50 rupees not to take you [thats usually how much they get paid to bring a tourist there] that will save you time and money. And 50 rupees is the usual price for auto to a nearby place. NEVER EVER TELL ANYONE ITS YOUR FIRST TIME THERE!To save offending anyone just say thankyou. Danyvaad is used when addressing Hindus. Shukriya for muslims. But thankyou is pretty much universal as well as placing your hand on your heart, that shows appreciation! As for the food and drink. Always use bottled water, even for brushing teeth.Avoid ice cubes!Check out the oil before buying deep fried food. If it resembles sump oil from a car engine dont eat there. Keep an open mind, don’t judge. You will see things you probably wish you didnt. Accept that other peoples lives are different from ours. Never believe that your booked hotel is very bad or burnt down etc. My usual response is’ my friend/husband is waiting there for me’ As for must have food items Chole Bhatura,Kathi rolls and garlic cheese naan are must haves! Dahl makhani is rich and my favourite Dahl Enjoy Delhi. I wish i was there. Sundar Bharat!

    • @delhidebb1749
      @delhidebb1749 2 месяца назад +2

@PradhanmantriBruhh not offensive. I like the chaos of main bazaar, the shopping, the food and I'm not afraid to say NO to people trying to sell me something or go to THEIR SHOP! I understand that's their way to earn so I try my best to be nice but firm. It's handy to the airport and the metro. Delhi's rail system is great! Everyone has a different opinion but I like it there.

India is moving towards Capitalism. Within the next 10 years or so things would change rapidly. If everything goes perfectly Mumbai could become the future New York or maybe close to it. True the poor would slowly get crushed under this massive development push and crimes too would go up as people fight for survival but again that's the only way this country could make any real progress.

Saying Urdu is just as much an Indian language as Hindi is a bit disingenuous.
Urdu wasn't born in India, it was merely "assembled" in India.
Most pure-Urdu words are existing Arabic/Persian/Turkic words, including the word "Shukriya" which is an Arabic word.

    • @raidkhan601

Most of the words are from a language colloquially called Hindustani. Loan words make up barely 20-25% of Urdu vocabulary, rest all of the words are from Hindustani (Hindi and Urdu both originate from Hindustani). Shukriya is an Urdu word, not arabic. Hence what I said, Urdu didn't originate in India, it is merely assembled in India.

Visit the select city mall in Saket area. visit malls in Gurugram. night life in Saket area or in most of the south Delhi extension suburbs. west Delhi is mostly punjabi population which rich food and local shoppings but can be chaotic. Dont travel during office hours because traffic can be an issue during those hours. old Delhi or Chandni chowk area has many local authentic shops for cloths or business related items. since your in Aerocity, try to visit roseate hotel which has a great art inside. Try to communicate with locals in main areas to get getter advice and places. Great video and we need more of such videos to break the stereotype. Thank you.

Hi Ken, I cant wait to get your view on India. I have traveled there twice and think it has so much to see. Delhi - Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple is amazing but you cant take pictures. Its like a brand new Angkor Wat as in Cambodia. Taj Mahal is also amazing. Try and get to Jaipur and stay at the Neemrana fort palace. And the try the Golden temple in Punjab. Have a great trip and I look forward to watching all your travels. Take care !

Here are some nice organized areas in Delhi. (only sharing the ones I visited)
    1. Connaught Place
    2. Cyber city Gurgaon (cuberhub)
    3. Greater Noida
    4. South Extention 2
    5. Model town
Gurgaon and Noida are generally very developed, I'm sure I'm missing many places hopefully someone will add them.

Nomad is quite expensive , if you buy sim in India it costs like less 4$ which gives 2 GB per day data for 30 days and if you exhaust 2 GB internet still works but on slowere speed. You can top in 2-3 $ for 100 GB more
