It’s crazy that after doing the “hit him with the rock!” Scene that many times, they still laugh like as if it’s the first time, that’s real passion right there lol.
I love this as it lets you get a good feel of what the actors and actresses had to do to make this film as quality as it is. One of my favorite movies of all time. Thank you Mr Grey for showing me and the class this.
The scene where Andre the giant has to hit westley over the head with a rock was filmed a couple of minutes away from my remote village where 200 people live. it is called robin hoods stride and it is really good for climbing and walking :)
I was fortunate to be present when a scene in the Enchanted April movie was being made. It was outdoors in Highbury North London. I arrived just after 6am and the carpenters had already finished their bit. I left at 2pm and they were still filming though almost finished. They had everything including a few dozen extras and period vehicles. The final shots lasted about 10 seconds of the movie!!!
And this is how it begins… from a poor farm boy to the Dread Pirate Roberts, to Westley who rides into happily ever after with his new friends and his beloved Buttercup. This is the story of the Princess Bride.
I want to see how they did the quicksand. I heard they used a trapdoor, but how did they keep the sand from falling through as the actors jumped in and climbed out?
I really want to see that too! There’s also a cushion layer on top that kept it from falling through, Zach King does a very similar effect with a rubber trap door, you can see it on his channel! Seems very closely described to how they did it from the book
If I call correctly (be sure to fact check me), the trapdoor was closed immediately after they dived through. It made Cary Elwes nervous, diving in head-first.
After listening to the wonderful audiobook of “As You Wish” it’s kind of sad to learn that Wally Shawn didn’t understand the humor of the movie. He gets laughs every take!
I often wonder if they had any inkling of the masterpiece they were creating when they filmed. I think it might be difficult to see from the inside how well something is coming together. They say that when they filmed Casablanca they were making a whole bunch of movies run and gun style, and it was months before anybody watched the finished product and realized how good it actually was.
Hugh Grant says his friends want to come to a set to watch him. He says don't as its so boring. Filming the same scene over and over, from different angles etc. Sure looks boring.
I WASN'T REALLY A FAN OF THIS MOVIE. BUT, R.I.P. ANDRE. A.K.A. THE GENTLE GIANT. MY HUSBAND LOVED ANDRE WHEN HE WAS A WRESTLER!!!! AND HE (ANDRE) ONLY LET A FEW WIN O HIS TERMS.
Tbf most people are just doing their own thing and looking at it like any other job for 70-80 percent of the time, you make fun out of what you can and appreciate the extra funny moments (Coming from my limited experience in acting)
i think its cause this is like actual behind the scenes of them filming takes where usually behind the scenes show the actors waiting around between takes and having fun on set - and little of the actual work that they put into it during filming

"My way is not very sportsmanlike" im in tears

Amazing what goes into a masterpiece.

I was hoping they would show behind the scenes of the sword fight or the hill scene. 2 of my favorite scenes in the movie. ❤
Cary’s face 🤍
We watched this movie a lot. It is a classic!
Inconceivable!

That's why this is an occasion where the movie is most definitely better than the book.

This is so much fun. I wish we could hear some of Billy Crystal a little better at Miracle Max's hut.
It looks like a Princess ride 😅
its insane how big andre was holy shit
12:30 Cary actually hit Andre in the stomach with no damage to the giant.
Andre was probably like, "Just hit me, boss."
I was just thinking to myself “wow he was ACTUALLY hitting him!” I agree, I bet Andre wanted to make it more realistic
I'm thankful I never had to fight Andre in hand to hand combat
Little too serious but hey you got where you are today🙂much respect
Is that Rob Reiner
Yes it is.
Tedious. Now I know why they make the big bucks.

It did not look like anyone was having much fun

You managed to make this rather boring!
