Man, this was a beautiful analysis. Its so cool to see how literary and charming the language in the acreenplay itself was. Like. “This is the start of one of the greatest cinematic swordfights ever (the other comes later).” **THAT** is how you set up stakes, like DAMN!
Goldman’s set up for the knife fight in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid” is also really great. But this one in the Princess Bride is really something special.
"Everything I know about Bill Goldman is that he was a wonderful, humble man that disliked his own writing very much. Which all the more made him try harder."
"Humperdinck catches up with them at the midpoint... right in the middle of the movie..." Also at the midpoint of this video!
Thanks for the upload. This was entertaining and informative about screenplays. I love Princess Bride the movie and cast.
Like a whole new chapter to the existing story!
"Structure is primary. The beginning is around 25% of the whole. The middle is about 50% of the whole. And the end is 25%."
Who can watch this and not want to rewatch the movie? Glad it's on both Hulu and Disney.
"The truth is we're catering to the directors."
Gotta love it
Thank you-from a budding screenplay writer.
They shot the horse ending but did not use it
Who does he say is a pretty darn good writer, but not a lot of films come from his work? 02:38
