The love for this movie is well deserved. When there was a move to re-make it, the public outcry was shocking, but the reality is that I do not think that a modern version could match the excellence of the original.
Oh, it's been memed. These are fun vids... but short, and ai mangled. Hope the creators will mend those minor issues... and stick with timeless nostalgia gems.
"As you wish." I have on occasion used it with friends and family. Great line. Also, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." And when saying goodbye sometimes, "have fun storming the castle!" seems apropos. "Inconceivable" is another good one. Many lines from the Princess Bride are lexicon in my common vernacular. In FlickChart I have Princess Bride listed as my favorite movie of all time, among over fifteen hundred other films I've seen.
My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die I annoyed my family with that line so much they begged me to stop. I still bring it out. I loved that movie.
My favorite line: When the Dread Pirate Roberts responds to Inigo: "No one of consequence." I have actually used that line over the years when people have asked me who I am. It is perfect!
Our family loves this movie. I remember when my daughter was 5 years old she would put her little hands on her hips with perfect accent and inflection," my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die" so cute.
"Get used to disappointment." (from the sword duel) IMHO, that is an encapsulation of the story's theme: that life is not a fairytale, and you should get used to disappointment. The novel has a more ambiguous ending than the movie.
@@FactsVerse Heck, I don't know. I looked over the videos on your channel page and you seem to cover a gamut of subjects, not just popular entertainment. This one about The Princess Bride just caught my eye since it is one of my favorite fantasies.
Mandy's favorite line was " Is very strange. I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it's over, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life." I like it...
Love this Movie! First Movie I ever bought when Blue Ray was introduced. “Inconceivable” is among so many great and memorable lines! So happy you made this Tim! Great job! 👏
Too many good lines to pick a favourite. This is an all round great movie. Action and adventure with a touch of romance. I wish more movies could capture the perfect balance of The Princess Bride.
One of my favorite lines is from that maniac Humperdink: "Skip to the end." It has to be the perfect response when someone's taking too long on the obvious while a crisis is brewing.
It's possible, Pig, I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable, vomitous mass, that I'm only lying here because I lack the strength to stand.
As much as I'm glad we got what we got...and as much as I don't think the alternative would've been QUITE as magical... I really think if the first-string picks for direction and casting had been gotten instead, it still would've been a great movie. Maybe not as iconic as it is now, but it probably would've been "bigger" out of the gate, and made more money. Everyone they listed is top-tier talent, and had every kind of chops needed to make this movie work (the comedic timing and wit, and the dramatic power when needed). Even though Twins came out AFTER The Princess Bride, we pretty clearly see in it that Arnie and Danny have everything needed to crack a hell of a joke AND still punch you in the feels. And, we know they have fantastic chemistry. The only one out of the ENTIRE bunch that I'm really not sold on...is Colin Firth as Westley. Like...the guy is just boring. Looks boring, sounds boring. He's just so utterly forgettable in every single way. I just forgot who I'm even talking about. Anyway, I think Cary Elwes is probably the only truly irreplaceable cast member in the entire thing. I've been wracking my brain to think of other actors of a similar age in that era, and I can't really think of anyone other than Val Kilmer because he'd already had a few roles in that sort of vein and he was excellent in them. But, yeah...I think it would've been just as good as the cult icon we got...just in a different way.
“ It's possible, Pig, I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable, vomitous mass, that I'm only lying here because I lack the strength to stand. But, then again... perhaps I have the strength after all.” Man, one of the all-time favorites, that only gets better every time you see it, and esp after hearing all the off-screen tales.
@ what families did together to have fun in 80 or earlier songs children and families sang in school on road trips basically what kinds of things communities and families and children did that help keep bond and unite communities I think we’ve forgotten
Probably `my` favorite is the "You keep using that word, but I do not think it means what you think it means," however, I had a boss when I worked construction who used to paraphrase the line "Good night. Good work. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning. " with "Good night! Good Job! I'll most likely fire you in the morning!" It's amazing how annoying that can be after about a month! lol

I am surprised that it hasn't ended up being a widely used meme.

Don't forget Peter Falk and his quiet "As you wish" at the end. Always brings a tear to my eye.

I annoyed my family with that line so much they begged me to stop. I still bring it out. I loved that movie.
Favorite line is was when the Grandpa says: "As you wish". It wasn't until I became a father and grandfather how powerful that line is.
My brother had the phrase "As You Wish!" engraved on his fireplace mantelpiece, in homage to how he felt for his wife.
Your brother is a true fan! How about you?
"As you wish" is engraved in my wedding ring. My husband's has "I will never doubt again."
My favorite line: When the Dread Pirate Roberts responds to Inigo: "No one of consequence."
I have actually used that line over the years when people have asked me who I am. It is perfect!
Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.
Our family loves this movie. I remember when my daughter was 5 years old she would put her little hands on her hips with perfect accent and inflection," my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die" so cute.
“I WANT MY FATHER BACK!” (Inigo Montoya) That line gets me every time 😞!
"Can you move?"
"Move? You're alive. If you wanted, I could fly."

I can’t picture anyone doing Wallace Shawns part better than he did.
As a grandpa now, the most memorable, most impactful line for me is "As you wish!"

My favorite line is from the kid to his grandfather reading the book, “A kissing book! Is this a kissing book, grandpa?”
Favorite line...wesley tumbling down the hill saying "AS....YOU.....WIIIIISH!!!"
The MOST famous line of the movie is literally practiced in the movie several times. "...You killed my father, prepare to die"
My favourite line was when Robin Wright says "I died that day"
It is a movie that everyone can enjoy young and adults alike

Without a doubt, “I don’t think that word means what you think it means.”

To me it's the most memorable and reused line in the movie. Mine too.
As you wish I would say it to my Bride until her passing.
Which line are you considering the movie's most famous?
Great movie! And great actor director!
