How could anyone skip "My Big Fat Greek Wedding? I laughed when she ripped the bows off of her gown while in the limo. Also, the wedding gown from "It Happened One Night" was stunning.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Absolute perfection. The closest modern day equivalent was the Danish wedding of Maxima and Willem, the now King and Queen of Netherlands. But the Sound of Music dress was always my ideal, and I had no idea anyone else thought that but me. Certainly I didn't expect a movie bridal countdown in the 21st Century to make it number one.
Princess Mia's dress from The Princess Diaries as the thumbnail.. LOVED BOTH THE ORIGINAL MOVIE & ITS Sequel.. Edit: Of course, The Sound of Music takes top spot AS IT SHOULD..
The wedding scene in Crazy Rich Asians with the water was so awesome and sweet and unique I was blown away, crying, and taking in every little detail, all at once. The fireflies, the participation, everything was just so great. It felt like I was there. I loved it. So simple yet something I’ve never seen before. And just so damn beautiful.
I haven't watched Ever After in so long because I remember it being so sad but I also remember it being one of my favourite movies as a child. I should watch it again
I've always thought Danielle's dress was quite similar to Princess Buttercup's, so I though the same thing after _The Princess Bride_ popped up on the list.
I love so many of these, but thank you for remembering Evangeline's dress from Nanny McPhee. That scene immediately makes me tear up, it just so beautiful.
Utterly despised the series, but my friend thought it would be ‘funny’ to drag me to part 1 for my birthday. Kinda glad she did because that dress was the best thing to come out of the books or movies.
My grandma wore a dress similar tio Audrey Hepburn's dress right around that same time period. A few years ago she donated the dress to our local theatre costume rental shop and her dress has been reused multiple times in different plays. The newspaper wrote an article on the costume rental shop and her dress was on the maniquin. I only know this because I remember Grandma reading the newspaper and began cheering "That's my wedding dress! The maniquin's wearing MY dress! My wedding dress is in the newspaper!" I've never been married but her excitement over her dress having a second life is kind of amazing to me.
That story is fantastic!! I love that your grandma wore the dress, loved the dress... and then released it to the universe for others to use and enjoy! It's wonderful. It's generous. It supports education and artistic expression. And what a wonderful moment, when the dress was featured in the newspaper! The universe brought her generosity back, full-circle, for her to find new joy in her beautiful dress. I love it!
That Hepburn dress reminds me of the pale pink "cocktail dress" my mum wore for her wedding. It was a small affair: she and Papa were married in the preacher's living room with their mothers and the preacher's wife as witnesses. There are a few photos that were taken in the preacher's front yard -- I never saw the actual dress.
When I was in high school, my best friend was the lead in their production of Our Town. Needing a veil, my Mom lent hers. A photo of my friend wearing it is in our yearbook :)
To me, Maria's wedding dress in The Sound of Music has always been the gold standard of wedding dresses. It's absolutely exquisite in its simplicity, but it's still grand and absolutely suits the character.
My Mom got married in a tea-length gown. She and her Mom ended up making it from a pattern they ordered from NY because local shops still only had floor-length.
The angelic look maybe a small reference to the ball gown in original movie which is also meant to give her angelic look. Especially considering during the dress transformation scene just as it finished the actual transformation some of the fairy godmother’s magic lingers making a small halo above Cinderella’s head before disappearing.
The chappel Julie Andrews /Maria, got married in is so beautiful. I went on a Sound of Music tour from Salzburg a few years ago, and visited some of the locations of the film. The Wedding Chappel had just been "cleaned", meaning all the delicate and intricate art work everywhere had been cleaned and repaired. It was stunningly beautiful. I walked down that same aisle slowly...you had to, there was so much beauty, it was like a dream.
The wedding dress in 1991’s Father of the Bride was sensational. Many replicated it as well as her bedazzled tennis shoes that she wore. Many are still doing that today.
All the way through I kept hoping that the wedding dress from the Sound of Music would be number one! I was so happy that it was number one! It deserves to be. Another wedding dress that left an impression on me was Guinivere's dress in the movie Excalibur. I loved her veil.
Fleur' dress was my pick for best wedding dress for such a long time!! It on only was replaced by Kate Middleton's wedding dress and just barely! Fleur' was divineeee!
I’ll tell you what I was going to be very perturbed with you all . But then you had my number 1 pick as your pick. Julie Andrews wedding dress in The Sound Of Music has got to be the most iconically beautiful wedding dress that’s ever graced the Silver Screen.
Haha, I felt the same way! Kept waiting for the Julie Andrews dress and every time it wasn’t the dress, I was getting more frantic to see it! My favorite by far
Honorble mentions: Teresa Bond (worn by Diana Rigg) in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" Danielle/Cinderella (worn by Drew Barrymore) in "Ever After" Giselle (worn by Amy Adams) in "Enchanted" Anastasia Grey (worn by Dakota Johnson) in "Fifty Shades Free" Grace Le Domas (worn by Samara Weaving) in "Ready or Not" Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie (worn by Julia Roberts) in "Steel Magnolias"
I just saw a high school production of "Sound of Music." They went with a different style of wedding gown but the high-school senior Maria looked amazing and so did the 6'3" Capt. Von Trapp. They did an fantastic job with those costumes.
I always enjoyed the beautiful simplicity of Guinevere’s wedding dress in the movie musical Camelot. I also absolutely loved the wedding dress Drew Barrymore wore as Ella in Ever After: a Cinderella Story. For me, The wedding dress in Star Wars reminded me the movie Gone With Wind when drapes were fashioned into a dress as I had dining room drapes made of lace that looked as if they could have been used to make the Star Wars dress. Sorry.
In Ever After, drew barrymores name is Danielle. And it was her mother's wedding dress but she wore it to a ball. She never actually wore it for her own wedding.
The coming to America dress is and always has been my favorite gown ever. My other 2 all time favorite dresses are the one that you did show is the steel magnolias dress. The other one is in a video not a movie.... the November Rain video by Guns N Roses.
I think that since the studio made the requirement that Grace Kelly and Prince Reiner allow them to film 🎥 the wedding for her to get out of her contract and it was technically done by a movie 🎬 studio it should be counted amongst "movies" and that dress should be on here ❤
The Sound of Music is my favorite movie all the way around, and that definitely includes the wedding dress. But, the slipper and the rose is a wonderful retelling of the Cinderella story, and the wedding dress is stunning. It didn't need to be one number one, but it should have been included
I think exactly the same, I leave first place for María VonTrapp, that silk is sublime, the fabric is already a work of art and I loved the Cinderella dress with those embroidered roses in subdued colors.
Its a toss up between the november rain guns and roses video or the crazy rich asians for me. Both were the most stunning wedding gowns i have ever seen.
I love the one from Nanny McPhee. It’s was so magically beautiful and I adore the name Evangeline. Ever After’s is gorgeous. But the one from Crazy Rich Asian’s whole scene was breathtaking! Ugh how could I forget The Princess Bride!
My favorites are Evangeline's wedding dress, Danielle's from Ever After, Cinderella's in the live action version, Katniss' in Hunger Games, and Maria's in the Sound of Music. These dresses were just breathtaking.
Buttercup - The Princess Bride Padmé Amidala - Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones Cinderella - Cinderella Mia Thermopolis - The Princess Diaires 2: Royal Engagement Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Elle Woods - Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde Maria - The Sound of Music Jane Nichols - 27 Dresses Rachel Chu - Crazy Rich Asians
One wedding dress I liked was from 2004 King Arthur a light green medieval gown worn by Keira Knightly as Guinevere. It might look plain compared to the ones on this list but it's gorgeous in it's simplicity.
Of course Maria's wedding dress in The Sound of Music is my dream dress. My Mom got married in a similar style dress in 1974, which my Grandmother made at home. I would have loved it if my Mom's wedding dress was still in one piece when I got married, but the veil and train was made into a cover for the crib all 5 of my parents children slept in as babies.
Video wise: i keep forgetting how beautiful, modern, classic, and timeless the Disney wedding dresses are. Both of the cinderella (lily james and brandi’s) blue gowns and wedding dresses are iconic. I also love Belle’s in beauty and the beast. Similar to Lily Jame’s cinderella’s gown, but different enough to tell apart. It is hard not to love any of Cinna’s design. The designers did an amazing job. maria’s in the sound of music Other contenders: The matching gowns in gentlemen prefer blondes Cannot think of any others.
I always loved the dress from the end of Runaway Bride! Ha ha ha, thank you for keeping the bishop in for Princess Bride's clip. How did Cinderella's dress catch on fire!?!?! I liked Emma's dress best in Bride Wars, but I do wish they had left in the bedazzled dress clip in the film. I think what I liked best about Maria's dress is the length of the veil. Wouldn't mind seeing a list for non traditional movie wedding dresses. Betsy's Wedding dress would definitely be on it.

So I guess you guys forgot that the dress Darkness gave to Lily in 'Legend' was intended to be a wedding dress.
I always loved the wedding dress that Lucille Ball wore in the movie "Easy to wed".
Maria in The Sound of Music
Liz Taylor's wedding gown in the movie The taming of the shrew.
How could anyone skip "My Big Fat Greek Wedding? I laughed when she ripped the bows off of her gown while in the limo. Also, the wedding gown from "It Happened One Night" was stunning.
Julie Andrews’ dress in the Sound of Music was always what I considered the standard for beautiful wedding gowns. Stunning and simple.
Same for me. No other movie wedding dress compares.
I always felt that Meghan Markle was trying to emulate Maria when she married Prince Harry, especially walking up the aisle by herself! 🤨🙄
@@TigerzLionzPistonzWingz I second that! Maxima’s wedding dress was gorgeous. Best Royal wedding dress I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
Is it just me but I got her dress and wedding confused with Prince Diana's wedding when i was younger?
When I watched Crazy Rich Asians for the first time this year that wedding scene absolutely blew my mind!
When I saw that movie in theaters…probably the only time that a movie scene took my breath away.
It was so beautiful!
That's my mom's favorite movie
When she stepped into the water in the aisle, u said out loud, Oh MY goodness, who had this incredible ideal!!!!
Before i even see the cover pic of this video. I knew the dress from crazy rich Asians was gonna be there.
Princess Mia's dress from The Princess Diaries as the thumbnail.. LOVED BOTH THE ORIGINAL MOVIE & ITS Sequel.. Edit: Of course, The Sound of Music takes top spot AS IT SHOULD..
I would love to see them do a remake with her as queen
@@staceyparsons6560 The Queen's Diaries.. How's that for a possible title?
Best dress
As much as I liked Mia’s dress, I am SO glad that Sound of Music’s Wedding dress was number one. Absolutely agree: well-deserved place on this list!
Yes I would say Maria's dress in sound of music would be my favorite of all time!!!
My absolute favorite wedding gown from a movie is Maria’s wedding gown from The Sound of Music. It’s perfectly timeless and exceedingly elegant.
The dress, the music, the walk, all of it.
Love the movie… Hate the dress!
Nah. Boring and forgettable.
I remember being only allowed to stay up late out of bed to watch until that scene when it was first shown on TV -just to see the dress
I LOVE Cinderella's dress! I wish it was higher up on the list.
Drew Barrymore wearing her mother’s wedding dress in Ever After is one that I wished made it on here. Otherwise, this list is pretty solid.
THIS. It is my all-time favorite movie dress.
I was waiting for that one too!
Yep!
Princess Mia's wedding outfit is my Absolute Favourite on this list. Anne Hathaway looked gorgeous in Bride Wars too.
I love so many of these, but thank you for remembering Evangeline's dress from Nanny McPhee. That scene immediately makes me tear up, it just so beautiful.
the Crazy Rich Asian wedding gown and the wedding itself is the best movie wedding scene ever. periodt.
The bride’s miracle-grow legs are perfection and the dress is stunning.
Agreed! It should be much higher on the list.
@@Manuelita6 agree
Bella Swan’s dress in the Twilight saga was pretty fantastic.
It’s even more amazing as it perfectly described how the book described the dress, that’s what I call fan service!🤓
Right? Her wedding scene was also iconic and beautiful
I actually commented that I preferred Bella Swan’s dream/nightmare wedding dress more than the real wedding dress.
Utterly despised the series, but my friend thought it would be ‘funny’ to drag me to part 1 for my birthday. Kinda glad she did because that dress was the best thing to come out of the books or movies.
Not a movie but Fran Drescher’s wedding dress in the nanny was literally incredible
I'm so obsessed with Fran's dress! It always gets forgotten somehow and it makes me so sad.
@@laurissa1790 jp
Shechadcsuch cute clothes and really wore them well did Fran. She's a remarkable woman.
The Cinderella dress was the prettiest and the blue dress is gorgeous!!🥰🥰

The wedding gown of Vanessa Redgrave in Camelot was fabulous!
I love the wedding dress Drew Barrymore wore as Ella in Ever After: a Cinderella Story. Absolutely beautiful.
Cinderella’s dress is underrated? How? It’s gorgeous!!
Probably because of its simple lines. Most people don't recognize just how much work goes into the detailing.
You can almost never go wrong with Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy. Perfection!
My Mom got married in a tea-length gown. She and her Mom ended up making it from a pattern they ordered from NY because local shops still only had floor-length.
It's not big screen but my opinion of the most beautiful wedding gown ever was the one Fran Drescher wore in The Nanny when she finally married Max
I agree. They should do a small screen list and this would def take the top spot.
Agreed
I was looking for this comment. Thank u.
My favourite bridal dress has always been the one in the slipper and the rose, in fact even the ball gown would make a perfect bridal dress!
All dresses were magnificent but Cinderella’s dress just seemed more angelic especially with the little bit of color.
The angelic look maybe a small reference to the ball gown in original movie which is also meant to give her angelic look. Especially considering during the dress transformation scene just as it finished the actual transformation some of the fairy godmother’s magic lingers making a small halo above Cinderella’s head before disappearing.
That’s my favourite one…absolutely stunning dress.
Cinderella drrss
Oh I so love that dress. I fell in love with it immediately
This Cinderella gown was magnificent. I want one!
Mia's dress in Princess Diaries 2 is my favourite and has been since I first saw that movie. I love the lace detail on it.
I also like Kiera Knightleys Love Actually wedding dress too.
The chappel Julie Andrews /Maria, got married in is so beautiful.

Best bridal fashion update ever. Comfy shoes, I'm there!
Seeing Cinderella’s wedding gown made me want to get married again so I could wear that amazing dress! I literally gasped!
Ya, if only that scene wasn’t so dang awkward! She seemed so stiff in that scene and didn’t even look him in the eyes when she said “my Kit” 😂
The Coming to America dress will always and forever be my favorite. My own wedding dress had a few similar elements!! ❤️
AMEN!! LOVED LOVED LOVED that dress!
I saw the Sound of Music when I was a little girl and I have never seen a more beautiful dress than that, elegant and simple. Just perfect.
Nostalgia. I haven’t seen Bride Wars in years since I was a kid but I’ll never forget how funny it is
My favorite wedding dress would have to be the Cinderella 2015 one that she wears at the end of the movie its beautiful❤️
Is that the one with Brandy in it?
The Crazy Rich Asian wedding scene gets me in tears EVERY time I watch it. They killed that scene.
All the way through I kept hoping that the wedding dress from the Sound of Music would be number one! I was so happy that it was number one! It deserves to be. Another wedding dress that left an impression on me was Guinivere's dress in the movie Excalibur. I loved her veil.
Definitely Anastasia's dress in fifty shades !!!!
Fleur' dress was my pick for best wedding dress for such a long time!! It on only was replaced by Kate Middleton's wedding dress and just barely! Fleur' was divineeee!
The "just breathe" dress from ever after and the dress from the end of the Haunted mansion should both be on here
The Sound of Music is my favorite movie to this day. I still watch it at least once a month. I could never get tired of that movie. 😊

Reese Witherspoon's wedding gown in sweet home alabama is so underrated
The gown from Betsy's Wedding may not be to everyone's taste but I loved it. And the top hat with the veil inspired my own wedding headgear.
I loved it too! And the top hat was the kicker!
I always think no wedding gown can beat Julie Andrews’ dress in the Sound of Music . It is a classic masterpiece.

Coming to America is definitely my fav
The sound of music will always blow me away
The series Outlander has a gorgeous dress; it’s made in silver and white with a corset and the bottom has silver feathers stitched into the fabric 😍
Oak leaves in silver thread - and a dog bone. It was very heavy. Couldn’t have worked on someone who wasn’t as statuesque as Caitriona Balfe.
Princess Mia's dress from The Princess Diaries is my favourite. The whole getup is just spectacular❤
I have watched that wedding 100times. Absolutely stunning!!!!❤️
I always loved Maria's gown in "Sound of Music"; so elegant and simple.
I may not have seen all these movies of these wedding scenes but I love this list!
Grace Kelly's dress from High Society will always be my favourite.

I agree with #1. That gown is sooo beautiful.
Wish they included the wedding dress in The Note Book. I know it doesn’t count but it was STUNNING.
Coming To America. The Pink dress Shari Headley wore was awesome. I will always love that dress
Keira Knightley's dress from Love Actually was utterly STUNNING, and I would have picked that over the one from Pirates
I 💙”Funny Face” and Auburn w/ Astaire was just amazing and so well done 💙💙
What about Cameron Diaz's wedding dress in My Best Friends Wedding or Toni Collete's dress in Muriels Wedding?!
It was bullshit for this list to not have Giselle with her massive wedding dress from enchanted
Right? The serve that it was giving us, pure Lady Di vibes.
Oh! I totally forgot about that one! That movie is so underrated. And the dress is awesomely overdone lol. You’ve got to love it
I love that movie. I love all her outfits
What? I started watching this video just to see it!
Enchanted❤❤❤
My favorites were Fleur's dress in Deathly Hallows, Katniss' dress from Hunger Games & Bella's dress from Twilight.

Woooow, I love the pink one very much and the empire style of number 12 💖💖💖
Its a toss up between the november rain guns and roses video or the crazy rich asians for me. Both were the most stunning wedding gowns i have ever seen.
I absolutely agree Stephanie Seymour's dress from the gnr November Rain music video
For me, Maria's wedding gown of "The sound of music" and Mia's veil and crown of "The princess diaries" would be the best bridal outfit of all times.
One that should be on the list IMO is Jane Seymour's gown that she wore in Somewhere in Time. STUNNING!
One my fav shows also dress she wore in Dr Quinn medicine woman
I love the one from Nanny McPhee. It’s was so magically beautiful and I adore the name Evangeline. Ever After’s is gorgeous. But the one from Crazy Rich Asian’s whole scene was breathtaking! Ugh how could I forget The Princess Bride!
Or how could I miss Katniss Everdeen’s from Hunger Games.
If you like the name Evangeline, and enjoy 1920s fashion, see if you can find the TV series “The House of Eliot”.
One of my favorites that was not included, is from the Wedding Planner. JLo/Mary wore her mother's wedding dress. It's beautiful.
The 2 best on this list were the one on The Princess Diaries 2, & the one in Coming to America, hands down!!
Great choices, especially TSOM dress, but I wish you had done an honorable mention for Claire's dress in season one of Outlander! 💕
Love Ana wedding dress in Fifty Shades Freed!!
My favorites are Evangeline's wedding dress, Danielle's from Ever After, Cinderella's in the live action version, Katniss' in Hunger Games, and Maria's in the Sound of Music. These dresses were just breathtaking.
Danielle did not have a wedding dress. The dress that she wore to the Masque Ball was not a wedding dress, but it was stunning.
I agree
Buttercup - The Princess Bride
Padmé Amidala - Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Cinderella - Cinderella
Mia Thermopolis - The Princess Diaires 2: Royal Engagement
Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Elle Woods - Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde
Maria - The Sound of Music
Jane Nichols - 27 Dresses
Rachel Chu - Crazy Rich Asians
Oh my goodness I was gonna say Katniss's dress too until you brought it up. Man, her dress is gorgeous even if it was just staged in the film.
I love the wedding dress in 2015’s Cinderella. Got the Barbie doll of it on Easter in 2015

Coming to America dress should have been higher on this list! Definitely in the top 5
I had the same thought. That view from the back was straight damn gorgeous.
I saw the title and immediately thought, "The Sound of Music BETTER be number 1." Way to be Ms. Mojo!
Elle Woods in Legally Blonde also had a really pretty wedding dress!!
The gown in Cinderella is stunning!
I loved the wedding dress from Penelope!
I would add Mary Quite Contrary's dress from Babes in Toyland. Annette Funicello was GORGEOUS!!!
Yay the sound of music! My favourite movie wedding dress!
I have to agree love Maria's wedding dress, stunning!
Anastasia Steel wedding dress was also stunning, you should make a 50 wedding dresses in movies, because you left so many out.
