Really liked this one Chewy. Nice to see some fundamentals and the importance of connecting the dots (which is one of the toughest things to do as a beginner). Going to be trying out that sequence as soon as I get a chance :)
I’ve watched this over an over an over. I go for these every time I roll. It’s just everyone in my class is really good, and I’m new. I’ll get there eventually. Thanks for the great video.
This video may be the answer that I've been searching for as a brand new white belt in BJJ looking for basic ways to "attack" in sparring. Thanks! 😎😎😎👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
My top five is 1. Guillotine, been getting it since I started, still my most consistent sub 2. RNC 3. Triangle (my favorite to get) 4. Darce 5. Arm triangle Keep it simple.
I love your subs!!! Im olso do this stuf verry often. Just basic subs! I always say to my students "keep it basic, keep it simple. This wil always work!". Thx for the video!!!
I ve just started training in Jiu Jitsu again and I really needed to see these I sometimes end up in the side mount and get confused as to how to go for a submission , Im going to see these submissions over and over again till they become second nature.
Hey brotha🤙 my name is frank, im very new to jitsu. Been doing this for a month and really enjoy and learn alot from your videos. Im using the breathing techniques you covered and im actually not gassing out anymore after a minute of rolling lol. THANKS MAN! Just wanted to say thank you for the help you provide. And your traing partner afam cracks me up. Be well bro. Respect🙏
Great 👍🏼 combinations...I was taught Americana, Straight Armlock, Kimura from side control & I look for Wristlocks too - but I often end up moving from NS choke to Papercutter & sometimes Renzo’s plastic bag choke/Ezekiel - can’t wait to try your chain...
Hey Chewy just wanna thank you man. It’s my 4th day of BJJ and I spent hours watching your videos after each day. Today after tapping everyday I finally was the one making people tap from things I learned from you. They got upset being higher level white belts but I guess that’s why BJJ is a humbling sport. Good luck and I look forward to learning more from you, aka my second professor.
Chewy, I love your videos man! I do have one word of caution though for many of your fans (including myself since I am still a white belt). If you are a White belt you probably shouldn't incorporate wrist locks into your submission sequences, they are not allowed in IBJJF Tournaments until blue belt level. Same goes for any leg locks other than a straight ankle lock. Many BJJ instructors wont allow someone, as a white belt, to practice leg locks or wrist locks at all. As an officer, I learned goose necks and other wrist locks as a form of control over someone I was arresting. I know how much they hurt and how quickly that pain compliance happens. That being said, before I started looking into IBJJF rules I attempted to use a wrist lock during sparring and earned myself a good talking to from my Professor about not using them.
I'm a white belt and I use and love wrist locks. Why? I can do them in my no-gi tournaments, same with kneebars and toe holds. But at the same time you shouldn't not train something just because you can't do it in comp. Just don't use it in a competition if you can't. I think white belts are doing themselves a disservice by not training them until blue, you'll need them once you get that belt so you might as well learn them and how to defend them before you do.
@@brandonbelew Train them, be aware of them, but maybe don't make them a big part of your game until they're legal if you plan on competing. I recently had a private with John Danaher who shares that opinion. He showed us a bunch of IBJJF legal foot attacks, most of which were legal at white belt, but the Estima lock isn't legal until brown. Most of us probably won't be able to use it for the better part of a decade (I'm a blue belt, there were also a bunch of white belts), but you want to be aware of them when they become legal so that you can just jump right into them, instead of taking a year to acclimate to them and work them into your game. I train kneebars, toe holds, and heel hooks regularly, I just don't make them the focus of my game. The key is communication, your training partner needs to know they're on the table. If you plan on using something they might not be expecting, a simple "Are you okay with wrist locks/knee bars/toe holds?" before rolling is all it takes.
@@beefburito as a white belt the biggest part of my game is survival. I don't have anything that I make a part of my game specifically. I only wrist lock, toe hold, etc on people who like to play in the dark arts. But as I said in my previous post, I can use a bunch of that in tournaments in no-gi. I'm at 2.75 years as a white belt, so I compete at intermediate, soon advanced once I hit 3 years no gi. Some regional tournaments, AGF for example, allow me to knee bar, wrist lock, toe hold, bicep/calf slicers, etc at intermediate. Once I switch to advanced I can heel hook, knee reap, spinal submissions and neck cranks. I don't train for the IBJJF rule set since it's a 8 hour drive to any IBJJF tournament and I will rarely go.
I’d do wrist locks all day, they are practical to deescalate a situation. So keep training them, just be respectful to your training partners if you use this against them.
I use a similar flow but I keep side control and the choke I focus on is "Kata te jime" and I don't really ever catch the wrist lock I just start it so they will move their arm. Kimura-is-life
I see the kimura as the most effective submission in grappling sports/disciplins no matter how experienced you are you always have to be carefull from kimuras
Question: Chewy im a short guy, you have short legs so a long upper-body. When I go for the kimura from side-control I feel like I can't reach it unless my opponent is small. I can lean further over but then I am vulnerable to being reversed with a bridge. Unless I am doing it wrong. I have the most success with Americana, Im blue-belt, and they say its not as good at higher ranks. I have tapped more people with americana from side than anything.
why RNC instead of gi choke ... sb said that choking without the gi is like beating sb to death with a gun, sure, it works but you coulda just shot him
Hey Chewy...I am only 5'6" im a blue-B. I have no trouble with Americana but I feel like I cant reach kimura too well. I wonder if its because im short or am I doing wrong? I feel like when I have a good kimura grip im too far over and prone to get bridged over
I’ve always wanted to be good at RNC’s but I can never finish them unless I can trap their arms with my legs basically. Could you give some pointers for finishing after you’ve already got the position. I find myself transitioning from back for armbars instead because I’m more comfortable with them but I don’t want to risk losing position. Also I primarily do no gi if that changes your advice any.
You’ve got the most realistic grappling dummy I’ve ever seen. Lol
It was very expensive.

Does it always come with jazz hands. Thats a huge seller.
Adam is the GOAT

Great sequence. I'm listening to you, but watching Adam. He's hysterical.
Am I the only one who tried to compete in a staring contest with Adam at the end of a video? Lost like 3 times though
Adam's best performance to date.

The Tea Bag submission. Underrated

Adam is a legend !!!!
This is awesome! The best part is how they all chain together.
Does this guys eyes not hurt? He don't blink.
key is just to focus on something small. In a staredown I focus on one pupil and never take my eyes off it.
This is soo perfect side co trim and key locks have kinda become my thing and now I get to throw in armbar as into back take
the way they all flow from side control is a thing of beauty
Thank you for this explanation, making sure the moves connect

Great video that was perfect because the kimura is my go 2 as a white belt. Now I feel much better having Some extras right after another

Adam.
how do you go about breaking the hand away from the body when you go for a kimura?
explosion or break wrist slowly
Just shoot it.
You have to push the wrist the opposite way then pull it. Make sure you raise it kind of high to keep them from just grabbing it again
I'll save this for a video.
Heel hooks are my favorite, there so savage. Could you make a video on some Ashi garami ???
