Thank you for sharing! If you find more of Bert's commercials, please let us see them! Those scenes really make me laugh. Can't wait to show my husband. He says doesn't recall those popular potato chip commercials of the 60's.
(This is Tom, not Sandra.) Mr. Lahr is one of my favorite show business personalities from way back. He is also one of my favorite character actors, ever, and his portrayal of "The Cowardly Lion" in 'The Wizard Of Oz' makes him, and his part in it, my favorite character from that film. I also love ALL of the old "LAYS" TV commercials he did in the 1960's, also!!!! He was an American treasure, to say the least!!!! An institution you might say, too!!!!
It's funny how he said that there must be a pussycat in the tank from 0:05-0:07 since he's also a cat species as the Cowardly Lion from "The Wizard Of Oz."
@@davidbaise5137 I heard of that. Not only that, in "The Wizard Of Oz" book, it was mentioned that the Cowardly Lion had a friend named "The Hungry Tiger."
Does someone have the CBS news clip of his passing? I remember them mentioning his age as they showed him as the Cowardly Lion running down the Wizard of Oz's corridor and through the window.

They don't call him the king of the forest for no reason.
The great Bert Lahr... The Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz... One of the great clowns Up Show Business. Thanks a million for posting this.
Yes, he truly was a comical guy without the crudeness that goes with entertainment today.
"Don't be redundant"!
I liked how Bert always grabbed the bag from the kid in frustration and gleefully says deLAYous!

Originally seen in 1965. Mandel Kramer, announcer.
I fondly remember his role in Wizard of Oz from my Childhood. Such a great era of TV 📺.
Classic
Kind of a combination of Shemp Howard, Joe Besser, and a touch of W. C. Fields!
A unique original. Noone like him exists today.

And of course at that time , Esso would put a “Tiger in your tank”.

A genius!
Legend, he gave us a childhood. I remember eating Lays as a child.
