Does someone have the CBS news clip of his passing? I remember them mentioning his age as they showed him as the Cowardly Lion running down the Wizard of Oz's corridor and through the window.

He did the Commercial Ads until his passing in the late 60's.Later succeeded by Buddy Hackett.

Bert Lahr from Lay's Potato Chips.

(This is Tom, not Sandra.) Mr. Lahr is one of my favorite show business personalities from way back. He is also one of my favorite character actors, ever, and his portrayal of "The Cowardly Lion" in 'The Wizard Of Oz' makes him, and his part in it, my favorite character from that film. I also love ALL of the old "LAYS" TV commercials he did in the 1960's, also!!!! He was an American treasure, to say the least!!!! An institution you might say, too!!!!

And Phil Carey playing an undercover agent for Granny Goose potato chips; saying those chips were "for grown ups " was classic as well.
