I lost my son 7 weeks ago… there are no words to explain the devastation I feel. When I paint and immerse myself in art though, I feel better and almost forget. From one momma to another, I feel your loss and pain.

Ooh, ooh, ooh! This is so exciting! That looks like so much fun, I’m going to make a concertina sketchbook tomorrow and start playing with ink! And no, it’s never a waste, no matter what becomes of it, because it’s a creative, constructive use of time, and that’s not only sending out good vibes, it’s an investment in your own physical and mental health. Let the play begin! ❤️

This is the thing i love about acrylic paint. You can water it down so that it looks like watercolor or use it full strength. It dries quickly and you can paint over it.

Yes! so many different ways you can use it. ❤

Enjoyed watching this process, I like what you said about learning something new each time and it’s not about creating a painting each time

thank you! your playful attitude toward 'messing about' is so refreshing. finding my way with portraits is not feeling playful, so time to stop. perhaps the looseness of inks is just the ticket. as always, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing this video - lovely to see how intuitive and loose you paint. A terrific inspiration! I have noticed that the British painters I have seen all use a similar palette. Is this largely due to the effect of your natural environment? Have you ever tried (and rejected) painting with more vivid, perhaps urban, hues? Of course, colour choices are so personal. I struggle with my dull mountain surroundings, fighting my inclination for the whole crayon box.

    • @ThisPaintingLife

If you look at some of my other videos, I often use vibrant colours - but our landscape is greens and greys and ochres and blues and so that's what we use when depicting it x

It takes experience and maturity in art to move on to more subtler, sophisticated palette colors.

Louise, when you make your accordian journals how do you secure the joints. I like to overlap a little for strength but it can get a little bulky. My favorite way is to sew . Loved this ! Too much fun ! Waste. Are you kidding ???

Creative experimentation is a waste of time and/or money! Yet it’s difficult to hear that above my shouty inner critic when I sit down with brushes in my hand wondering if I should use the ‘good’ paper today. Does this stem from my mother telling me not to waste the paper and paints because they were expensive and only getting them out every now and then?

Great video Louise. But for me it's impossible to join Art tribe. I tried it in februari and march of this year. But because you refuse the payment by Pay pall. That was a big desilliusion for me.

Sorry about that. Unfortunately, I cannot accept Paypal for very boring administrative reasons - they do not allow me to see addresses of members, and this means I can't file my VAT taxes correctly. We do take debit cards though x
