I haven't seen this video in a long while. It's so energizing and relaxing at the same time. Off to do Lesson 1 of FYJ Taster 2023. Louise, Thank you for sharing this again! It's a great reminder not to be "thinky" and have some fun.
Louise, I've been following you for a while. I've learned so much from you. I just wanted to jump on and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. You are such a joy to watch, so authentic and welcoming. Thanks for all you do.
Seeing this video I am reminded that I did this exercise about a month ago. I was sort of happy with the result at that time, but kept on going way past 30 minutes, and.... over worked it. Excited to try again with better colors and a 30 minute limit!
Here from 2021 taster course! I've seen this done in a number of other artist vids and always wanted to try. TBH I already feel overwhelmed so I'm hoping this week will loosen me up. 🙄🤞🏼
I'm so enjoying how you play and make these little pieces! Off to get some yellow and get started. So happy to be here with you, Louise! Thank you for your generosity!
"That swashy thing you always do". I'd like to address those things within my style that I don't like and they keep showing up. I seem to even have at least two, maybe even three, distinct ways of painting (not bragging here, I only like ONE of them) and I never know which mode I'm in until I start painting! Another struggle I can't seem to overcome is that the left side is always much better than the right in terms of composition. I'm going to try this exercise over several days and see what happens, maybe all three of me will "blend" into at least one of the squares, tee hee.
Louis, I just love this technique of playing with colour and the unexpected results you get. I especially love the "reveal" when the tape is removed. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make all of the videos you make. I watch them all, even if I don't comment often. You inspire me so much to continue exploring mixed media work. Susan
Fun exercise, I like it a lot. (A side note, can you make intro music less loud cause the difference in sound volume between the music and where you speak is too much and hurts ears especially if you use headphones)
I think gob smacked is the only thing I can say. Each individual motif is superb. Let me clear the decks and have a go. I'm friending you on Facebook. Thank you Louise for such inspiration. xx
Did you use smooth watercolour paper Louise or Not texture. what weight was the paper? really enjoyed watching and looking forward to doing your course next week.
Opps a day late and no tape and maybe wrong paper - BUT - I love this idea and plan to try it like tomorrow - a day late common for me - thanks for offering this - - Peg
I can’t wait to start this assignment. It’s 1am New York time so I will be doing this when I wake up later this morning. This is just the thing I needed for expanding my creative joy
Hi Louise I love this video and have watched a few times . I'm new to abstract painting and haven't used much acrylic so it was a great way to see how things work and the effects you get .I want to play with semi abstract Landscapes and this was a great help. A big fan thankyou Trish !!!
Thanks for this video Louise, I can see now why I couldn't make anything from my 'ugly' painting. Will def try this exercise and hopefully feel able to post it to the group.
Just started with your free mini course, and with this one on your video before coming here, your instructions were to treat this as one painting. Here you seem to be treating them for the most part individually...it's a contradiction but perhaps it's because this RUclips was made in 2018 and the lesson I am taking and refers to this link is now, 2021.
Louise, I follow you and whenever I can I watch your videos, with the way you teach I learned not to be scared of painting and through paint on canvas because because I can go over and over until I liked I always loved abstract but so scare of starting it and have no idea how to finish it a millions thanks to you Louise and God bless you because you have a big heart ♥️ I just finish one abstract two weeks ago and I posted in your page Minda
I have done this exercise before and always worked flat. Watching the demo inspired me to work vertically. Do you have any pearls of wisdom about working flat vs vertical?
@@ThisPaintingLife I did it and loved the results! I felt like I did better with my values. The contrast was much improved. Great exercise. Thank you! 😺
very cool.....i have a re appearing mark myself....i now get intention without intention. and watching this i completely forgot it will become several pieces. lost in your art.
Love this! unfortunately i'm working my day job all day tomorrow and i will only be able to do this when i get home! I hope i can do something as interesting as yours!
I love how you work, your perspective and attitude and I keep watching your various painting videos bc they are so inspiring and make me want to paint my own! Thanks Louise! Tina

When you pulled away the tape things really came alive, you've created six little spectacula paintings. so enjoyed this video thanks for sharing.

You are so welcome (and thank you!)
Hi. Hulda from Norway. Fun to follow you. I have tried your first lesson on paper. I liked that. Much to learn. ❤ Thank you.
Thanks for this visual. I will tape off
My paper tomorrow and get playing. I can’t wait!!!
Wonderful!
Love the demo. But, when your back is turned to the camera and you are painting it is hard to hear you clearly.
I'm excited and can't wait to start this assignment. ❤😊 Your work is so beautiful, you inspire me. Thanks for the demo, that looks cool!
It's a great demo but I'm having trouble hearing you even though my speaker is up to the max.
the sound is very low.....
I'll definitely be giving this a shot.. I'm normally my own worst critic with my work, so being able to loosen up a bit would be a huge help.. thanks!
Its a treat to watch your intuitive artistic process in real time! Thanks Louise.
I’m inspired!! Thank you

Only just seen this after over 2 years. FABULOUS! BRILLIANT! WOW!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Maureen x
I understand your concept, but you realize you are going into the individual boxes frequently, instead of over the large expanse.
I’d like to see your palette. How you deal with the colours x

Thanks very much Louise!

I love watching you paint!! Loose but thoughtful😊
Can't wait to try it tomorrow morning! I already taped my full sheet of Arches 300 lbs. cold-pressed, and chosen my 3 primary colors.
I am going to make grettimg cards out of my first try. Then I'll do it again.
Is it just me or is the audio impossible to hear? It’s fun to watch despite it though
what was your original pallete colours
?

Thanks for this video Louise, I can see now why I couldn't make anything from my 'ugly' painting. Will def try this exercise and hopefully feel able to post it to the group.
I am inspired every time, thank you!
Wonderful work!...at first the title threw me off....I get it now...not the person being blind, but painting blindly as you go!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching. ❤
I'm just about to start this now. Thankyou
Louise I love watching you . although often the sound is soooo low I can hardly hear you.
Please be sure your audio is turned up
Thanks Suzanne for letting me know

Awesome! Thank you!
Your art colours look great....will begin same this first week of Spring..thank you Louise.
I CAN HARDLY HEAR YOU!!!!!
Wonderful Louise! You take such a relaxed approach to creating. Very interesting and will do this exercise.
The more relaxed you are, the better the painting works out!
I'm curious/confused by the use of Oil Pastels under Acrylic Paint - can you please address the interplay between them? Thanks!
Great video full of information and good tips. I will try this for sure m thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it! ❤

Waited a year to be part of your 'Joy' group Louise. Thank you for all you share...excited to get playing!!
Love this Louise. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so excited to play tomorrow. I love trying new stuff and seeing what happens. So freeing to not have to produce an end product! ❤

WOw, I wish I had watched this before I started! Oh well, learned something already,
Just able to watch the new video demo, my heart is just pounding due to the excitement I felt as you were painting. I am on my way to do assignment.
I find this exercise very encourging, fun, and so simply free to play. I should do it more often. thanks!
I've been trying to get some time to play, as you say, and finally I did it. The first round, not so good, but now I rather like it! Thanks, Louise
I’m all primed and ready to go.
Thank you, Louise!❤
This really highlights the importance and benefits of play. I love this exercise to loosen up and I will definitely give it a go! 😀
Have fun!
@@ThisPaintingLife I did it and loved the results! I felt like I did better with my values. The contrast was much improved. Great exercise. Thank you! 😺
Having just done Louise's Find Your Joy Taster, pulling the tape off is the most exciting thing ever!

I see you put acrylic paint over oil pastels... doesn't this lead to problems with the paint sticking to it or peeling off later?
THANK YOU! I love your spirit.
This is fantastic! What kind of paper, or weight is this? I can’t wait to try this exercise ♥️♥️♥️♥️
🖼️🎨🖌️🧡💜❤️😻
It’s a little hard to hear your voice sometimes. I’ve got full volume on but can’t hear all of it well.
Вravo! Сosmos...

Do you put them under glass? I’m asking how that works with the oil pastel,....does it stick or smudge on the glass?
Love this technique! I'm excited to give it a go tomorrow evening. ☺️
Time to get going. Thanks. I know what / how I'm getting started.
Awesome idea.. And each little painting looks so complete and lovely
I am enjoying your lessons and cant wait to start painting again.
Love this! unfortunately i'm working my day job all day tomorrow and i will only be able to do this when i get home! I hope i can do something as interesting as yours!
Excellent demo for Lesson 1…thanks
I love how you work, your perspective and attitude and I keep watching your various painting videos bc they are so inspiring and make me want to paint my own! Thanks Louise! Tina
each looks like a separate painting - nothing flows from one area to another
Wonderful Loise. Such a relaxed approach and the color palette seems to dance in this creation. Thank you for this interesting exercise.
Brilliant! The squares look almost like paintings, don’t they? I think I’ll have a go, as you say over there 💕🎈🤸♂️🎈💕 Thanks!
Wonderful! Have fun!
These are gorgeous. Just about to start the course.
