  • My 2008 VW GTI was leaking a large amount of oil. We suspected that the oil pan was leaking but after taking it apart we discovered that the oil filter housing was leaking which is apparently a common problem on these cars. Follow along as I replace it.
Here is an option for the part.

Excellent. I did this a while back at 176,000 miles and had fun getting the fans in and out. And yes mine was leaking too. Also replaced the gasket on the DSG cover as it was slowly leaking fluid.

Just thought you should know that you have female fans also. Thanks much for taking your time in schooling some of us out here in youtube land. Keep up the good work my friend! Have a beautiful day!! Did you have any CELs fixed from this? I have a P2177 code that I think may be coming from this.

Nice Job! How much do you think that would have cost to have the dealer do it?

I think all dealer bills begin at $1000. I think that part alone is around $400 from the dealer.
