Ik this is a bit late but for all my big boys out there. I was 6’1 265 when I decided to join. My recruiter told me I needed to drop a lot of weight to sign. I’m 2 months I dropped to 225. All it is is dieting, running, pushups, and sit-ups. It was not that hard. You can do it. Go on a keto diet and start off by running a mile everyday. Once you get that mile to 7 min start running 2 miles. On the pushups do as many as you can, rest in the up position for 5 seconds, then knock out five more (it’s how I got my push-ups from 25 to 40 pushups). Rest for a minute or so and do it again until you’ve reached a hundred push-up or more. Then sit-ups, just sit-up until you can’t no more. Hands interlaced behind your head. Y’all got this. It’s not that hard. Don’t starve yourself and don’t over indulge yourself. EAT SLOW!!!
Im highly considering joining and these videos help so much with making my decision
William Campbell I recognize that name.... But no sweat go for it!
Did you end up joining?
Same here been thinking about joining
Same. Already registered for my first college semester so I’m trying to figure out a way to do it during or after college. I don’t want to postpone college because I have a scholarship that I can use for the full 2 years (but I have to start the fall after my high school graduation or it won’t work).
Teresa N. Go during the summer and join the reserves
I want this career, to change myself. Retire with my own house. Finally get to have a dog. Maybe a Wife and one child after I serve.
David Wright sounds like the best life I'm planning to join when I turn 18
lolololo I’m 17 and haven’t gotten one but I think you just go to the recruiters office I plan on joining when I turn 18
You can join at 16 in Australia I think that's my plan anyway but I don't know what I want to exactly do I'm fine with being infantry and getting shot at
Seen a lot of kids get set up because they seen a bonus. Recruiters don't give a shit. As long as they hit there quota and get that 1000 dollar bonus. But yea . My recruiter was a decent guy . I think his unit hates him because he's morally respectable.
I didn't even think recruiters got a bonus for a quota/even have an individual quota
@@Miscelanou The recruiting office has a monthly quota I believe but no personal or individual quotas and they don't get a bonus or anything for getting someone to enlist
Kenzie they have personally quotas if they get bonuses I have no idea but it’s 1 active duty 3 reserves a month I’m pretty sure

Matt your beginning is the same as mine. I picked a job in the Army National Guard that will help me with my civilian career I want to do. That's one of the main reasons I enlisted. I am trying to become a police officer and there was one for 31B Military Police, but I picked 11B Infantry. Reason is because when i hopefully get into my civilian career as being a police officer, I want to get into a Specialty Unit such as SWAT.
Lol you go the best job in the army
I got a 45 ASVAB score. I'm going to be a 68G Patient Administration Specialist. I have experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I'm engaged and I am really confident in my relationship. And actually we are getting married before I leave. I know what my goals are I'm focused. I want to go Officer and become a Healthcare Administration Officer. I'm 20 years old and plan on doing 20 years in the military and still work in the civilian world afterwards.
3 years, still married?
Thanks for the info! I am Married with 2 kids and am going to basic in a few months. I am in the National Guard. My wife grew up in a military home so she knows what is going on and we both believe this will be good for our future and family.
Have two kids myself and looking to join myself, good luck to you brotha
Just subscribed and ive been watching your videos all day. Thanks for doing these videos, they’re really informative. I’m still in high school but plan on joining the army when I graduate. My sister was also in the army, she was a paratrooper and I was able to visit her on family day. I just really liked everything about it and I’m excited for when I can finally enlist
Welcome to #TeamWard 😎
Watching these videos again before I start my recruitment process, thanks Matt!
Love your videos, heading out to Fort Sill in the very near future. 68W. Working on my PT like a mad man. I was like you on the ASVAB as well. I went into it without studying and got a 92. Wish I had gotten a max score with just a bit of studying. Always good advice. Keep up the good videos!
My goals are always high. If I join my goal is to be military general.
But wouldn’t you start as a Non commissioned officer or a corporal
@Korg The Destroyer Thats the president
I bought a book to study for the asvab plua ive been working out atleast 4 days a week
I got a 94 and still took 11X lol
Kevin May
Similar situation, but I got that sweet sweet op 40
I’m 15 and I have really thought about joining the military but I’m still deciding which branch
join the army bro that’s what i’m deciding cause i wanna join the army infantry cause their the most likely to see combat
Army is the best middle ground
Yes these videos make me want to join even more i can't wait they said u can join from u or 17
I ship out in August I scored 32 on my asvab but still qualified for 80 jobs I wanted to be 25 Bravo since I qualified for it and I work with computers as a civilian but I ended up having to settle for 91 bravo since the slot wasn't open my recruiter told me I could change in two years also your videos are awesome
IMxYOURxDADDY yeah 32 I've been out high school for 7 years and never studied for the test but I ended up with decent line scores and my recruiter said lines scores are what matter he even told me he's seen people score higher but not qualify for a single job I'm just glad I got my foot in the door.
Chris Garcia 32 is a low I'm guessing you had your diploma I had to get at least a 50 just to get in with the GED got a 63 have fun at basic I go September. Do your future solider training online if you're not doing it with your recruiter it's not that bad that land navigation is a whore
Chris Garcia my battle buddy at the hotel got a low score but high line scores I don't understand how you do that did you run out of time or something because I finished all of mine with plenty of time to spare the practice test was more time constraint for sure I know you didn't study but you atleast took the practice I'm guessing
Was 42A one of your choices?
Jonathan Car show yeah I completed all the courses except that smh
I scored a 33 on the asvab. I've been out of school for 6 years. I have some college but not enough to rank up while in basic. But I always wanted to be a helicopter mechanic or a mechanic in general. I qualified for 15T uh 60 repairer. I'm happy that I know mechanics because my lines scores were pretty high. Line scores seems to be the most important. The afqt is important as well but my recruiter and my Step Dad whose in the Navy said stick to my line scores.
Spawn and Batman look into the following books: asvab for dummies, basic math for dummies. I've seen great success with my future sailors increasing their scores. Even of you hated school, the asvab is the one test in life if you want to do the military, that you need to take seriously to get the best opportunities available to you, any questions feel free to ask
I've been out of school for 13 years and got an AFQT(ASVAB) score of 88. I studied about 15-30 minutes a day for a week. 13 years ago I got the same thing but couldn't join because I was Homeschooled. Hopefully that's changed (which it obviously has because my brother was able to join.)
Great Video Buddy, I really appreciate the bit about the relationships and "the big why". I'm probably a person that over analyzes his situations but it also leads me to some really good long term visions so I just want to say thanks for uploading the video and providing all those considering joining the US Army with a much better, insider perspective. Stay Lifted friend!
Thanks bro!!!
This channel is amazing. Keep up the good work. I ship after graduation and all this information is only helping me. Thank you.
+william fiedor Thanks!!! And good luck to you man
+william fiedor Thanks!!! And good luck to you man
I am 14 and am seriously thinking of serving America. One of my dreams is to become a Marine.
I’m pretty sure the bonus that you get isn’t affected by your mos or your asvab scores. It’s the length of enlistment and how fast you ship to basic training
Him- start getting ready as soon as possible
Me- starts 4 years early
Very goood relationship advice! Wait in till after basic and AIT. Dont get married just because your leaving.
I been trying to join for some time everything he is saying true specially the studying part
Fyi for the group......you get the Job you want based off of what is available at that time. If youre not ok with the jobs, dont join, just dont expect a recruiter to babysit you looking for a specific job. No recruiter is going to check for a certain job 365 days a year. We have 20,30,40 other ppl to help. Recruiters can see jobs 60 days out for hs grads. If a recruiter isnt looking the right second of the right day, certain jobs are hard to find. Ive been recruiting for 6 yrs and there are still jobs that ive NEVER seen bc of the size of the job field. This isnt burgerking 24/7 365 for a recruiter. Noone even knows if they are going to like any job if you never served in it. Im a recruiter and ive had people be hell beant around one job, bust my ass to find it....then low and behold, down the road they hate it. 100 ppl can do the same job. half will like it and half will hate it. Either way collect your pay check, be proud of your service and go to college for free.
why i didnt get that much bonus tho,,i got student loan repayment tho got loads of that
Hooah ah ah let’s go 31b. Got the job I wanted and bonus is was a plus.
Heyy have you left for meps yet?
Does everyone get a bonus?
Thank you
My question with all due respect. I am not physically ready but I want to serve my country. My physical build is mediakore but I can still push. Be it I be 80lbs or be 265lbs. Is there a place for me? Or is the only way to join is trough a draft?
The main thing is…..be in shape…..
Man this video is 3 years old lol. I work in IT but I want to join to learn new skills such as engineering or a trade-like skill and to challenge myself with different experiences. Also, having a desk already turns me off to having another desk job.
Thanks for the upload man
Scores good for 2 years if taken at meps and above 31. If u don't score high enough for particular job then it won't ever be available until u retake test and score high enough.
Such a sweetheart.
Thanks

\m/ i always wanted to do this , planet earth is wat i wanna protect \m/
Right now im 13 and i wanna join infantry
I'm leaving for basic training in a couple of weeks! I joined the army reserve as a 12B Combat Engineer, my plan is to come back go to school while in the reserves and apply for the rotc program at the college I plan on going to, how hard/easy is this route to becoming an officer compared to the other ways?
I think you have to hand in a packet to a board so the fact that your doing reserves and college you can market yourself better
I'm going to become a combat engineer with my best friend in a few years. Tell me your experience in college and training!
That's the mos I want joining sometime in June
The way he says it
Nice vid man. Once again great advice. One question though, and this is for anyone to answer.
In regards to hand-to-hand combat training, to what extent (if its alright to ask) do they train you? For example I know the marine corps has their whole martial arts system in place for marines. Where marines can learn(based on what colored belt they wear) simple defense techniques to fighting an armed opponent unarmed. Does the army have any sort of thing like that too?
Lukasblade2 army has combatives
91? 👏👏 I got a 72 but got denied at MEPS because of my vision. It's been 4 years I'm gonna retry soon
How bad is it?
I really like building computers and things like that. I can't really find anything to invest in that. Unless maybe start a business. How do I run a business while active duty?
You could build computers and sell them to people or start a small repair shop where people think their computer is broken when all it is, is a crashed HDD. Boom easy money that doesn't take a lot of time. Bother of those are viable options that take little money to start.
Matt you're a cool dude.
Great video
Can you do a video on how to past the ASVAB test in the skilled technical cause I wanna be in the national guard as a 68T and in order to get that MOS I have to score a 91 in that area
Helped alot
I scored a 34 and my recruiter gave me a week to study . I did bad on the math parts
I really want to join guys but idk if im fit 4 it 😞
hey I want to do 68k but my major is in IT. I plan on double majoring in biology. should I stick with an IT job such as 25n or b or do you think it's ok for me to do a biology centered job like 68k?
I want to join am I to old I'm 38 but I want to help the world just wondering. Thank you for your service. Yours truly: Jeffrey Snoddy
You can try to get a wavier.
I have a 2.3 kd in the army.
So... Yo ass died?
@@yofriendsunclesnephew6574 yeah but I can respawn no need to worry about that.

@@yofriendsunclesnephew6574 ty I will improve my kd.
2,000 SUBSCRIBERS WITHOUT ANY VIDEO? Affirmative.
I was gonna ask do you eat before the training or after training in BCT?
Yesterday I just started a daily routine of running 2 miles around my neighborhood and doing sit-ups to supplement my daily workout routine. Ever since the beginning of this month, I started lifting a 28.6 lb dumbbell to exhaustion with each arm, doing several sets of 20 standard push-ups, and also started trying diamond, short-armed, and wide-armed push ups (with minimal success on those). I have never been in a relationship, and do not plan on ever being in one. If I were to join the Army or Marines, how well would I do if I were to end up in Basic 2-6 months from now? (P.S. I've not started the process yet, but I've been seriously considering joining one of those branches due to me not having much success in the workforce. I am currently 26 years old).
Wow dude you smart as Einstein
5:13 You were able to sign up right then and there because you have already taken the ASVAB exam and you passed your physical in the recruiter office prior of your last visit right ?
Dear John letter 😆😆😆
Are you a recruiter? I've seen a few of your videos and notice a theme, I'm a recruiter so genuinely curious lol. Also lol got a 91 on asvab and wanted to go higher? Lol it's max of 99 lol. As for asvabs tho, have initial test, one month retest, one month retest, then 6month retest and gets worst from there. Anyone that is considering the military that's in highschool take advantage of asvabs at highschool they don't count unless if you want to use that score, extra test to feel it out
Hahaa no I’m not, I’m just trying to help out future soldiers
I scored a very high number/Asvab score in high school, it was required we take it. But I didnt know what it was, so i tried my best. And then they had us do it again and I was like "Oh I'm never going in the army, I wasted my time last time." And I just left it blank and slept till the next test.
So I'm on my 3rd year of college for architecture and I quit due to Bill's and working 2 jobs.
Does that high school still count? And if you retake it multiple times, will your previous high scores stay? Or will the new score even if lower, override the last score?
Because I remember recruiters when they found out, kept telling me I didnt have to go into combat due to my score. But I can't remember because I really didn't care, my plan was college and then work. But... life changes.
As far as I've been told, the ASVAB is only viable for 2 years after the completion of said test. Hope that helps. If you're speaking to a recruiter, ask for study materials if you're nervous, or ask to take the PiCAT. Good luck 👍
Can I leave and come back to get my MOS? Or if I want airborne in my contract
This video it old so idk if anyone will see this, but I'm a sophomore in high school and my school doesnt really talk about the military and I'm not from a military family,, is there anywhere to go where I can figure out how to join or when I can join the soonest? Like idek what that asvap is but I'm assuming it's a test from how you talked about it.
Go talked to a recruiter, sometimes recruiter go to high school to new people to join the military. The asvab is a test you take at meps or sometime they have it at the high school if they offer it. They score basically tell you what job you can pick, however you must pass the passing score for that branch to move forward in the next step
I did not qualify for the army because of my height off by an inch. I'm a female by the way. It was upsetting, not only that but I scored low on the pre enlistment test. yay to me lol
Life doesn't always go your way sometimes. Happens to all of us. You will bounce back and that could 100% be for a reason! Think positive
Thank you for replying! I will start thinking positive. I spoke to a marine recruiter and she said the minimum height is 4'8. Marines was never an option, however, I will give it a try and see where that takes me.
Cool video
Thanks!
I was wondering what the application looks like. I already took the PiCat and have to go to meps to lock in my score and all that in 30 days but I havent filled out any application yet.
What if your not eligible because you didn’t score high enough, how would you know to wait
How do I join the Army I'm having trouble completing the online forms
wHaT iS a 25 bRaVo(and other jobs with these obscure number and phonetic alphabet names)
Knightly 25B (Bravo) is an MOS (job). 25 is the job field. For DC ample 19th is cavalry scout.

Great video boss! I'm shipping out to Benning Nov 13th 2017 with a wife and two kids. I'm gonna be 22 5 days before shipping. Any advice on any of the provided information?
MATEO ACOSTA damn dude. Good luck
How should you prepare for the ASVAB
Study. Study. Study. Currently, I'm using Barron's ASVAB Flashcards and Kaplan's ASVAB Prep Plus 2018-2019 Edition book. Both have been really useful tools. The flashcards come with a metal key ring so that you can separate the cards and study one subject at a time. The questions are listed on the front of the flashcards, with the answer/explanation, of course, being on the reverse side. (I recommend at least guessing the answer before looking at the answer if you don't know it). Kaplan's Prep book also has all the necessary categories essential for preparing for the ASVAB. It includes multiple practice tests, strategies, online tools, (Online) videos, and it also includes flashcards at the very end of the book that you can pull out and flip through.
You said that the ASVAB tries to gauge you, but I am guessing that isn't how it works for the paper version, right?
Exactly
I have a question about combatives training. Is there any type of ranking system for combatives and what are the steps someone would need to take to become a combatives instructor?
Damn that was closed almost joined a russian malitia
I told my recruiter I interested in a cyber warfare career for the military but I want to go into the reserve as an Officer. How would that work?
Scored 73 on the ASVAB, wanted 25N, 25B or 25U. Only got 25U with a $13k bonus. Needed to ship ASAP cause I'm broke lmao leaving in a month. Since I'm 25U I'm hoping I get put in something fun like an Infantry unit since my MOS won't be super helpful outside but good enough. Hoping it works for me.
+Praise Kek well all of the 25 Series jobs do a lot of cross training so you will learn a lot once you are done with training that can help on the civilian side.
+Shootemup89 You think so? That's pretty cool. Hoping I can hack it during training, I've lost 100 pounds in the last year for this but I don't feel like I'm super fit regardless. I can run a single mile in about 7:45-8:00 exact, I was able to do 42 pushups in a set a few weeks ago but I focused more on running and I dropped off slightly in pushup strength, down to anywhere from 30-36 in a set. I can do about 31 situps too. Is my fitness pretty bad? Or am I below average-average range? I just want to pass and not get shit on horribly at training and be absolutely struggling in everything I do physically.
Praise Kek damn son 73. At least you got what you wanted offered. Did you focus on line scores for the 25B. Cause that's what I'm trying to get for my MOS. Besides just studying should I focus on studying the line scores specifically? That a better chance for the strongs for 25B I guess, right?😂
Yeah I focused on 25N or 25B. I'd say go for 25N because networking will help you out a lot once you're out, especially if you get your cisco CCNA certs and shit of that tier. With 73 most of my line scores were 110+. my only weak line scores were in CO, and MM and those were 108 and 104. Some of the line scores on goarmy.com are bs btw, I had a 111 ST and it says on the site you need a 101 for a lot of 35 series MOS but the real requirements were 112 so I didn't qualify for those jobs. Also make sure you can get your MOS they let you lock in the MOS you want for a week but you have to go to MEPS that same week or that reservation goes away. This happened to me, I reserved twice and lost both of those, second time was due to failing MEPS for a leg injury, needing it to be cleared which it was. You can only reserve an MOS twice so make it count.
Jesse Holley I enlisted as 25B. If you want that job id say focus solely on the line scores for that job.
What job is the most needed in the army?
There isn't one.
@@MattWard89 is there a guarantee chance to get into specific job that's for combat. Or which job has highest chance of recruitment?
I hope someone can answer this: I just talked to a recruiter about the MOS 70 healthcare officer w/my degree, and they mention the option of signing up for 68W and go green-to-gold. I am thinking that they need medic & don’t want me to apply for that officer job….. Should I enlist as 68W first?
Im going too go to the Bundeswehr (German Army) since I’m German
is it true that you get your hair shaved when in the army? I have a fat ass peanut head 😂. I want my hair
If ur male you get shaved if your a female you get above chin
4 more years
6 for me
I thought you would actually go-in depth but i guess not. "thinking about it and booking book smart" is not a "Right way." After talking with a lot of close friends, they always mentioned cadet school for the ability to rank higher, especially with the Bachelors degree. Thats something not everyone knows and people need those tips. I doubt anyones looking up this video and saying, "jeez i completely do not know anything!"
can i join it without highschool?
You're a 25b? I'm a 25s. I'm in ait rn
Make a video about bonuses. I keep hearing thats bs. Did you end up getting your bonus?
+LORD DENZ I talked about that for a while on my most recent live stream but yes I got my bonus and the main video that people watch referencing to not take the bonus is crap and a fluke. Don't let one mistake keep you from accepting your bonus
Shootemup89 you're right. Also, I took the practice test at the recruiters office and got a 35. I'll be taking the actual asvab Tuesday. Is the asvab easier than the practice?
I'll keep an eye out for your live streams, thanks a lot man
So I got a 78 on my asvab today from home. But I have to take a asvab verification.. if I fail it what would happen? Even though it would be the same questions but I would forget
I did not now you can take the asvab and pick a job at the recruiting station?
What’s a dear john letter?
When somebody writes you a letter saying that they don't want to be with you no more because they found somebody else. While you were away at that.
Looking to be a 25B
Hope you the best i really want to be in the army 2
Jodie got your girl and gone 😆
Man I would like to join the army I would be kinda nervous just because is kinda hard and I dont have a high school diploma and I'm only 25
You can join with a GED and the max age is 34. If you're in decent shape and have a clean background you should have no issues, unless you're eyeball deep in credit card debt or something.
Hey matt can you in join the military what passport ? Because my freind is not for usa
Does the selective service put you in the military
potentially if we go full on war
I’ve struggled with math, and only math. Legit nothing else is a problem for me.
nateguy632 felt that
What is an ASVAB
He Matt ward hope you see this I'm about to join the military but not sure if I should go army or air Force. I don't mind (even like) the idea of seeing combat but concerned about quality of life for me and my fiance' still deciding a mos and final decision on branch before I talk to a recruiter. Also if I join either army or usaf and do something like 25B like you do I still get to use the big guns.
Well if you want to see combat Air Force isn’t really the way to go. And. Tech job isn’t going to cut it most likely either. You aren’t going to be doing much shooting unless you are a combat mos
Matt Ward wow thanks for the reply don't get many of those. is tacp considered a combat mos are there other combat mos that would give me skills that would transition well into a civ job (although if I like the military I might just put in the 20yrs and retire at ~45)
Did you ever decide on which branch? Im in the same boat as you right now and can't get past all the pros and cons. Definitely am considering TACP, but don't want to get thrown into a random AFSC if I wash out.

Dude, dont go ahead of what you are capable of doing. No trying to be rude but I doubt you can make it into the military with that spelling.
@@dwn0845 you spelt "not" wrong plus that grammer, wow chill mate..
What if our Asvap score is like 30% or something
Sydney Watson 31’s the minimum for army, if I remember correctly. Could be wrong.
Minimum for army is 31, you’re right. 30% or less and you’re told you didn’t do well enough to even qualify and you can come back and schedule a test exactly one calendar month later.
If l hade both my eye s l would have joined the army
I have cuts in my arms from 6 years ago can i join ? The scars are still visible but i am mentally ready
El Salvador De Love I believe self harm scars are a disqualification. I may be wrong, there might be a waiver. Look it up man
yomama isaniceperson yup they are a DQ. :( the recruit told me there too visible only way was to get a tattoo to cover them up.:(
El Salvador De Love guess you're getting a tattoo. Get something reasonable, non-offensive, and make sure it covers the size restrictions. Or don't join. Either way, its up to you
Do you take asfab as an officer
Mason green you do. In order to be an officer, you have to score at least a 50
