You can also be granted E4 upon enlistment if you are enlisting as a 68W and you currently already have a National Registry EMT or Paramedic certification. Source-I recently did this
Thanks for adding this!
Yea see I read that too yet my recruiter is saying that the highest I can be without a bachelors is E3. Cause I got my EMT cert. lol
Shootemup89 www.army-portal.com/jobs/acasp.html
Just bring that up next time you talk with them.
Negative unless you have a Bachelor's degree or higher, the most you will enlist with is a PFC(E-3)
laila farah actually that’s not true. I just spoke my recruiter about my emt cert and through the acasp I can enlist at an e4 rank and skip the first part of my ait. This of course only applies to certain mos’s. Like I’m going to be 68W. If you type into your search bar acasp it’ll take you to either the go army.com page or another page which has the list of all the jobs eligible for the acasp. :) I actually just found out about this recently.
1 year college= E2
2 year college= E3
4 year college= E4
Recker 114 4yrs will get you Officer ranking?
Not exactly you need a bachelors to be an E4
Da Nope Meister you need to go into OCS if you want to be an officer. I’m going in with a bachelors and I’m an E4
Da Nope Meister No you have to apply get accepted qualify get a high gpa high asvab and pass all 4 years of rotc
@@RandomRUclips123 A peraon with a PhD might be able to earn a Direct Commission to officer if their degree is of value to the army. An advanced degree in engineering or intelligence or cyberwarfare might qualify one for direct commission. There also is Direct Commission for doctors, nurses, lawyers, and chaplains. These types of people still need to complete an officer development course. If the PhD is not of value that way they probably only go in as an officer by completing Officer Candidate School.
So, I enlisted into the Army as a Specialist, but I don't have a college degree. The Army has a thing called CASP (Civilian Acquired Skills Program). I enlisted as a 68W combat medic, and because I already have my NREMT (Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician), I was able to enlist as a Specialist, and then I will also get fast tracked at AIT (16 weeks down to 8 weeks). The Army does this for only a few occupations; Barely anybody knows about this. Your recruiter probably doesn't even know about it, mine didn't. My friend did the exact same thing and told me about it. I leave for basic at the end of this month.
Matt Zechman what occupations???
@@christianwood1891 Band MOS. 42R and 42S
That’s what I was going to do but then classes for emt were full and expensive. I ship out next month.
I'm currently working on enlisting as an e4 via (casp) as a transportation specialist
@@anthonyvalentine9526 Good deal, dude. So for 88M, do you have your CDL already? I knew that 88M was a part of the CASP, don’t know the prerequisites though.
Pulled E-3 due to my college credits. Enlisted halfway through getting my bachelors at Appalachian State.
I'll be there E-3 too.
This is what I’m doing. I’ll be signing up soon! Hopefully getting into ROTC when i get back.
Mountaineer Actual will you finish your bachelors?
me too.. i'll be E-3
How long to make E4?
Army JROTC in high school for 4 years. I was a PFC in Basic Training and a Squad Leader. I got thrashed daily by the Drill Sergeants along with the other PFCs who were former JROTC kids to include one who was the Platoon Guide. Our platoon was the most squared away than the rest of the company. The 5 of us PFCs were the ones going to Airborne afterwards and got thrashed with more PT. We had a 100% qualification on rifle and everybody passed their PT tests. Our platoon pulled together and motivated each other. The guys saw what happened to the other platoons and they didn't want that to happen so we PFCs convinced everybody that we would show and teach everybody how to march, clean, everything that we learned in JROTC. The Drill Sergeants just stood with arms crossed watching us do everything and glared at everybody making sure that they were moving as we explained step by step. Organization and moving quickly was essential. The bad apples had no choice because they were being constantly being watched by them and breathing down their necks. So Army JROTC did help us as a platoon.
You joined as an e3 right??
@@offperkz2454 What do you think a PFC is?
Chinese Knockoff PFC
@@offperkz2454 It’s a E-3
@@offperkz2454 Yep.
I met a guy who became a chaplain. He had a master's degree in religious things. His basic training he was in a hotel room with ac and cable tv. As a non combatant he couldn't do any cool shit throw grenades or shoot any firearms. Because of his MOS and college degree he really ranked high. He said it was weird walking around constantly getting saluted. I guess everyone's mileage may very
He probably didn't go to "Basic" Training. Rather, he probably went to a Direct Commissioning officer's course (probably 4 weeks or so)
Don’t be mistaken tho. A chaplain has a huge responsibility. Their dirty work and protection is done by a chaplains assistant. I have a friend who’s one. Watch band of brothers, there’s a chaplain walking around in the middle of a firefight praying for the dead and wounded.
Jonathan Erickson chaplains are not the same today.
I want to be a chaplain
I went in as E-3 because I had 60 plus College Credits at the time.
I was split option so I was an E-3 until they gave me E-4 at AIT for being Fast Track in Class.
When I got back to my Guard Unit, they took my Federal Promotion papers and shredded them. The Guard promoted me to E-4 two months later.
I received E-5 my 4th year in and finished my 1st six year enlistment as E-5.
I should have completed eagle scouts dammit!
shane e even if you didn't go into the military getting your Eagle Scout helps a lot
Same here brother. I’m kicking myself in the ass now. Especially since I was so close. Was at star and had the merit badges to be bumped to life.
I'm glad I completed eagle scout
Having gotten my eagle I can say it helps in a lot more than just military. It’s a lot easier to get jobs because of it
shane eich LMAO😂
I'm going into the army as an E-4. I'm a 68w and I already have my EMT license so that bumped me up to E-4.
If you’re in the Army National Guard after you pass a PT test at drill (you only get the chance once a month so take it seriously) you are eligible to take a short exam on things that you learn in the guard (example, questions on the phonetic alphabet, the 5 major terrains, etc) if you pass the exam in addition to the PT test you can rank up to E-2 before you go to basic. Source: I just did this :)
I going into the army as an E-3 because of 4 years of JROTC experience with the California Cadet Corps.
California Cadet Corps is a JROTC program ran by the California national guard and military department as apart of the youth task force.
I went into the USAF as an E-3 because I enlisted for 6 years. Once I learned how little that meant, and how quickly you naturally advance from E-1 to E-4, I definitely regretted that, (mostly cause the re-enlistment bonus for my AFSC was so high).
3 years of JROTC (any jrotc) Will also allow you to enter as E-3 for the army
ScourgePVP what about marines?
You become an E-2 with 3+ years of JROTC from my knowledge.
ScourgePVP As of now you'd enter as an E-2 in the Army. I did Army JROTC for 4 years and I'm currently in basic training (on Holiday Block Leave) as an E-2.
ScourgePVP what about 4?
Erikku i don't think you get anything special for the 4th year. But I could always be wrong
Thanks for your videos! They're very informative and helpful to me as I'm getting ready to leave for BCT next month. Just wanted to note that everyone whose MOS is 42S does enlist as an E-6 their first time in the army, so you can go in as higher than E-4.
It looks like 4 years have gone by since you posted your reply. How did your enlistment go?
Thanks for letting me know about the future soldier training systems, because I'm a senior and 2 years of JROTC is out of the window.
If you attend 3 years of JROTC and a summer encampment, and a recommendation from your cadre, you are eligible to attend BT as E-3 or PFC. In my situation, I was honored by The Daughters of American Revolution, which is an additional requirement.
JROTC in high school is like a college degree (loosely) where your first year is enlisted, learning basics, formations, core military foundations, and core academics.
Second year, you're advancing in rank, eligible for officer, leadership roles, staff positions (S1 through S4), and especially distinguishing yourself in ways that earn Civil awards from community, state and even spokesman opportunities.
Third year, advanced leadership roles, company and battalion promotions, in my case, Executive Battalion Commander, Honor Guard Commander, Drill Team Commander, and S2 Officer.
The more you excel in JROTC, going active duty as a PV2 or PFC is a perk.
and fourth years are either the cadet sham gods or the people with the biggest stick in the pack (batallion commander, XO, CSM)
Dude thank you so much for making this channel! God Bless
Glad it helps!
I did Jrotc in high school for an easy A, I had no intention in joining. But now im glad I did because I can enlist as E2.
When i talked to my recruiter i mentioned my welding certs and she told me i would possibly start off as an E4
Never heard of the quarter master award in sea cadets. But I do know if we join the navy we get e-3 and I’ve always heard the same in the other branches except for the marines but this could have changed.
Instant sub, have been binge watching your videos
*Oh yeah E-2 13B Right here Bro* 💪😎
Give em' hell
TRIPLE A ALEX 13B 👍👏
I (NG) was able to get pfc before I even shipped to basic thanks to helping recruit/ stripes for skills. That extra money during training helps!
I enlisted in 1973 in the Army deferred entry program six months before entering basic while a senior in high school. I got to pick my first duty station. Either Germany or Korea. I was the only one in my basic training company that was an E2 so I was appointed as platoon sergeant. Once Basic and AIT were over I was very close to an E3. It sure gave me a jump up at the start and then evened out over the three years I was in. I could have signed up for two years but I wouldn't have been able to pick my MOS and I wouldn't get the full GI Bill.
ACASP(Army Civilian Acquired Skills Program) as well. For instance if you want to enlist as a 68W and are already a Nationally Registered EMT you’ll make E-3 and if you’re an EMT-Advanced or EMT-Paramedic you’ll get E-4
If you enlist in some of the 15 series mos's and hold a FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification prior to enlistment you will come in as E-4. The reason for that is because an A&P certified mechanic is considered part of the army civilian acquired skills program.
Depending on the needs 9f the Army, they will use the stripes for skills program. It's not very common, but you'll mainly see this with linguists and the Army Band. You'll come straight in as a SGT. Keep up with the good work on the vids BTW!
Civil Air Patrol is really chill, you just show up once a week and learn about drill and planes
moral of the story: go to school kids.
side note: after enlisting, you can get an award/medal for recruitment.
1 recruit = award
2 recruits = army achievement medal
just happen to know that because I'm getting the AAM before I even get to basic for recruiting 2 friends. I'm not sure about the "stacked" promotion thing to go from E-2 to E-3. I can ask my recruiter about it.
The reason I *might* "recruit" 6+ people is bc I'm going to accompany my recruiter to high schools to talk to students about the army and potentially get them to enlist. He's mainly taking me for the girls to see that "girly girls" can be soldiers too, and to get another perspective than just a guy's.
Damn, wanna help me get some referrals? No one at my school wants to join.
Antro Daze where are you located ? I'm in south florida
Alyssa Muñoz I'm in Central Florida, in Lakeland.
Antro Daze try to see if you can get with your recruiter & do the same thing I'm doing. Central Fl is just as packed as soflo.
my recruiter goes all across Broward country to all the high schools. not sure if he hits Miami-Dade since there are other recruiters there...plus no one likes to drive in Miami-Dade anyway. lol.
I just need to get 2 ppl to enlist saying I gave them the idea I get an aam? Hell challenge accepted
Hey I really enjoy your videos man, they are informative and extremely helpful. I have enlisted in the army and I am leaving for basic in about a month. My recruiter is having me do the future soldier program and I have a recruited a high school graduate to join the army also. Do these 2 stack and if so, would that mean that I should be entering basic training as an E-3 PFC?
Great video very informational 👌🏿
My friend is enlisting as an e4 as a musician, I'm a musician as well and am thinking about following him
Civil Air Patrol is amazing, Billy Mitchel is your 2nd Lt.
Huh, this answered my question in another video, thanks!
What are the perks to getting e3? I've enlisted as an e3, and I'm just wondering. Btw, your videos are getting me PUMPED for bct. Basic at Lwood and AIT at huachuca. 35F. Chee. Excited as heck. Thanks for posting all you do. I'm hooked on your videos. Your info is all types of great.
Dunno if everyone will always see that chest exercise contraption, but it looks pretty good
I think E-4 is the highest rank you can have going into basic. There was an E-5 or E-6 prior service in my platoon, but they made him wear E-4 rank while there.
If you are in the ARNG and you enlist say in your senior year of high school, after 6 months of RSP drill weekends you will get E2. I got E2 the drill weekend before I shipped out, which actually happened to be 2 days before I left for BCT. Trust me it feels great not being a fuzzee in BCT.
Joined after college E-4. Going to Ft Benning Monday. Considering OCS when I get back from basic and AIT training.
As a cadet of the Civil Air Patrol earning the rank of "Cadet 2nd Lt (Billy Mitchell)" does grant you to go into the military as a higher rank, If you go Air Force you get E-3 all the other branches get E-2. I recently had my friend do this.
Michael Politoski Not true. The other branch that would contract E-2 is the Marines, all other branches E-3
Michael Politoski Yeah I read about that. But I don't want to be part of chair force. I also believe you get e3 in the Navy for 2 years.
laila farah No. E-2 for ARMY AND MARINES. Everyone else E-3.
That moment when you were going to go in as an E1 and then learn you can already be an E3. Feelsgoodman.
Requirements were different in the 1970s. With a GT score of 140, they were very happy to find you.
I was in the British OTC. The ROTC guys that came visiting during summer camp were no match for us. This made me think what it will feel like to enlist in the US army...
E3 with 3 full years of JROTC. If you have 4 full years of JROTC, can get a recommendation from your JROTC Commander and score well on a couple tests, you can start as an E4.
If you have 4 years of HS JROTC or something like 80 college credits, you can make E-3 from the start. I had something like 89 credits going into the recruiters office and it was enough to get E-3, I also had 4 years of jrotc. You can also make E-4 if you fall under that E-3 criteria and recruit 4 people. So for example if you recruit 4 people and you have the college credits or jrotc, you can make E-4, but it won’t be till after you sign the contract and swear in as an E-3. They then file paperwork for you to be promoted at your unit.
pretty sure no. You must have the bachelor's degree (or something equivalent to it)
Andy Shick you need a 4 year degree to enlist as an E-4 on your contract when you sign the contract but after that if you fit the criteria I mentioned, you can have paperwork put in at your RSP unit in the Guard or future soldier training while you wait to go to basic, or have it done while your at basic. The degree requirement is only to get it from the start. It’s what happened to me, I got E-3 on the contract and got E-4 for meeting recruiting referral requirements. Thus I enlisted as E-3 but was never a PFC, I was able to be an E-4
Also i went in as e-2 got promoted to e-3 for killing inspections. That was kinda cool
Thank you!
Naval Sea Cadet Corp. Is a JROTC program that's starts at the age of 13.
I was in the (DEP) delayed entry program. DEP, is a program where you join at 17 or junior in HS, go too basic during the summer between 11th and 12th grade. Then after the 12th grade I went active at FT. Bragg. As soon as I got too my active duty unit I was promoted too E-4, with time in service with reserve time, during my senior year of HS.
Ik this comment was made a year ago but i’m going to the recruiter on Monday to do this any chance I could get more info?
I never knew if you recruited people that would get you incentives I was just recruiting for the heck of it lol
You know Matt i think you are the strongest soldier at the hole US ARMY you are the best
You can enlist as an e5 if you sign the rotc contract and for some apparent reason you drop out they are gonna make you either 1 pay back the scholarships or 2 serve as an e5
I love all your videos and have been a huge help. One problem I had when enlisting is I went to Ft.Stewart youth challenge academy which was a five and half month military academy to obtain your high school diploma or ged but after returning home and talking to my recruiter he said I didn't qualify to make E-2. I am just wondering why.
You can join at E-3 if you get 2 people to join from your recruiter (At least in the National Guard)
I dropped out I have 2 years of college, but I didnt graduate, and I've been wanting to join the army for the longest, thinking about doing it for 3 years, and just came to realize school isn't for me, and finally pursuing the army so i can serve my country
If you audition and get into an Army band (42R) you go in as E-4, that’s how I was able to at age 17!
(Sorry if you said this in the video, haven’t had the chance to watch the whole thing yet)
Im in the future soldier training program. Im actually head future soldier at my Army recruiting center. I enlisted about a year early to my graduation date and they put me in that program. To get a promotion to E-2 you must recruit someone, pass your APFT, and get 100% on your online training test for every lesson
So you can't just take the course and pass the PT test to get E-2? also how long did it take you to finish the future soldier course online?
Emil Armendariz No you must meet those 3 requirements well that's how it is at my recruiting center. There's not many you can complete all the lessons and tests in 1 day. Your recruiter that runs future soldier training chooses when everyone does APFT so you can't do it whenever you want. Getting a referral is the hardest part. Everyone in my area does drugs or doesn't meet requirement by medically or mentally so that's why I'm still E-1. PS watching the land navigation video helps you understand better than what the lesson teaches you
Civil Air Patrol Billy Mitchell award is C/2lt, you actually get E-3 in the Air Force and Navy, E-2 in the Marines, and apparently E-4 in the Army
Good vid very enjoyable
I went through my state’s youth military academy when I was 17. I graduated as an E3, so if I get any federal job, I’ll be at a slightly higher pay, same thing with the actual Military.
I have a question just started watching your vids I'm not quite sure if you have a vid on it but what exercises you can recommend me doing aside from push ups and sits ups?
I'm a 68w (combat medic) and have done 3 years jrorc and came in as a private first class.
Back when I went in ('86) you went in as an E-3 even if you enlisted with a PhD. (idiotic thing to do, I knew two guys in BT that were a few credits shy of a JD (Juris Doctor, Law Degree)) . I had an AA Degree and one year of ROTC, either earned me E-3.
From what I heard, the allowance to enlist as E-4 started sometime around 1998
Yeah, I went to the Texas Challenge Academy and they let me go as an E-2. I was kinda disappointed though because unlike JROTC, it was an everyday thing. You lived there. Getting E-3 seems better assuming you had good progress there.
3 years of JROTC, Above Sergeant and is in Raiders, and Drill Team.
If you could have the naval sea Cadet you can join the Navy or the Marine Corps as an e-4 or E6
This is a good video
Civil Air Patrol and the Billie Michel Award comes with a rank... so basically once you get to a certain rank in the CAP you come in 1 rank higher!
Eagle Scout is very different from simply being a Scout. My nephew enlisted that way.
I mean, you could probably *convince* them to get you E4 from you bringing in 3+6+12 people; because you're bringing 21 people + yourself at that point, proving you would already be qualified to lead an entire not-so-small squad, but uh, good luck getting that organized before basic; you might be able to handle your duties as an E4 organizing it before attending basic, but your subordinates might not be that efficient, the odds would be against you.
Note: This would likely qualify under some sort of waiver.
Got my E2!!!
got my Eagle Scout im going in as a E-2 and ship july
In regards to the JROTC route! Not sure if they just recently changed it but for those who have done Civil Ai Patrol (basically AF JROTC) you must achieve the rank of 2nd Lt before it’ll count towards your promotion! Been in for 5 years myself but they said it wouldn’t count unless I became a Lt in the program.
Air not Ai
I use to be in the young marines for four years
I’m not sure if this is still going on but ten years ago any mechanic that held an ASE certification could enlist as an E4 if they were going enlisting as a 63B
I knew people at jackson who where prior service Airforce and went in as an E-5. one guy was prior sercive airforce and he was an officer so he went in as a E-6
I have been waiting a long time to get in the military, but I recently went to Meps. I asked other army future soldiers if they did future soldier training and they were like what’s that? No lie I had one kid tell me “Oh I’m not too interested in ranking up”
I don’t think most recruiting stations do future soldier training, be it the physical portion of it or talk to their recruits about the online classes.
5:14 my high school Buddy and i got our E2s by referring each other. This was back on '91 so may not sure if that would be counted as a double dip or not today.
Well, would have been nice if I had this info a while back. I ship on the 23rd of this month.
Civil Air Patrol : Billy Mitchell Award = Cadet 2nd LT. . I have one myself. Volunteered almost 5 yrs
I’m going through JROTC, rn in high school and I’m hoping to refer one of my friends into the army, or to just take some AP, or extra classes to get college credits to get E3, so I can get some leadership in BCT
Most Associate degrees from community or junior colleges are 62-66 semester hours.
When you first arrive to your new unit from AIT, was it hectic knowing you had to get patches sewn on, rules and regulations, buildings on base and such? I'm just worried, I feel like I should be squared away as soon as possible, but I feel it might be kind of hard not knowing anyone. And getting the feel for things on base.
Cool I could easily make III then even though I couldn't join medically because of being rather color blind and asthmatic where it's to the point it's crippling at the worst times
They finally got my Army JROTC credits and I finally have E2 Jesus I almost went in as only a E1
Hey Matt, I am thinking about enlisting and I have a 4-year degree. What is the difference in how you are treated if you enlist as an E4 as opposed to an E1. What is the material difference of having a higher rank? Thanks. Love your videos.
Same. Bump
Become a officer if you want higher quality of life
Quick question, I'm likely going to join the reserve . Do promotions come slower in the reserve compared to active duty, or at the same rate?
What about combining 24 college credits for e-2 with a pt test to become e-3? I was told by a counselor at meps that it was possible. Once this semester ends I’ll have 47 credits, 1 shy for e-3 and then ten days later from semester ending I ship to basic.
If you make P03 in the USNSCC or are in the USNSCC for 5 years then u can get E-2 or E-3 in the army
Does anyone know if Vocational Technical Schooling Credits for instance (Universal Technical Institute) would help out with with rank? Or is it just traditional College Credits?
I am being offered E4 because I have my CDL. Just putting that out there.
There are some high schools that will allow a student to "dual enroll" and will pretty much allow a student to go to college while in high school and will allow them to get an associate degree. This is probably why they say "have a 2 year degree" and having the 48 total hours.
Interesting. I joined as a physician as 2 lt, completed 18 months of officer training, just as every one else. Had I joined as a civilian I would have started as capt, but I would not be a real officer. The the paygrade is not directly related to grade though, as I made as much as the colonel as a 2 lt. Interesting how different our systems are!
CASP certain mos can start e-4 with civilian skills
I won’t really be proud of my rank until I hit E5, and go up from there. I’m planning on getting a bachelors and trying my best and doing everything I can to get my rank up as fast as possible. But a lot has to do with waiting and service time, which I understand.
I'm enlisted as a 68p in the Army and just got promoted to E-3 before leaving for basic. Solely a highschool diploma and no college credits.
What about pay? If you enter as an E4 do you get E4 pay from day one, even in basic training? That may sound obvious, but I've heard that everyone in basic gets E1 pay thru-out basic.
I think my primary regret in high school was not doing any JROTC until my senior year
So the one about Civil Air Patrol is based only on cadet rank ups. Once you make it to Cadet 2nd Lieutenant, you are eligible for E-3 Pay grade IF you join the Air force, and the Air force only. Sadly, it doesn't really transfer over to any other branches. Interestingly enough, we have a lot of Young Marines and Marine Jrotc kids in our squadron(SER-FL-335).
Things are different now, I’m starting as an E-3 because I speak 2 languages, and I recruited 2 people, one of them already graduated and the other still at school just like me.
Waaay easier to rank up 📈
When I heard about this I immediately thought it was a terrible idea. When I was an E-5, I expected a PFC to know basic military courtesy, how to take care of him or herself and their equipment, and how to perform his or her job. So now we have E-3s and E-4s who don’t know the first thing about being a soldier? Explain that to me.
