I was a Specialist when I left active duty in 2013. I made $855 every couple of weeks after tax. I heard this hardly changed over the past 10 years. Now I make almost 5 times as much being a federal employee with a degree. Soldiers still have a lot of advantages over us though. 3 free meals at the DFAC and free housing with utilities are still pretty hard to beat. We don’t get those in the government.

I was an E-4 in 1986 and made $250wk or $1,000 a month in barracks.

You get 100% medical. You get 100% education/college that was not included in your breakdown. Food on base is less expensive than on the Civilian economy

Second Lieutenant at Nellis in 1980. My BP was $ 800.
I was a 2LT in 1986, I believe the base pay then was $1600 per month, LMAO......Now I think they start off with like $60,000 or $70,000 a year 🤣🤣

I'm 25 about to turn 26 as a man, thinking of joining the Navy. I have 4 years of navy highschool rotc so I hope I can get in as an E 4 with that. I should have joined after high school but I didn't and that was my only regret. But now I need a change and miss the military atmosphere.

Hi new to ur channel, honest question, I’m 26 and through my life got discouraged to enter the military life and finally my relationship with that toxic partner ender but I have a 9mo baby, and now I’m not sure if to enlist…what would be your thoughts/recommendations in this specific scenario?

Is housing allowance for when you decide to live off base and rent a home?
When you’re married/have dependents or reach a certain rank you’ll receive it and you can use it for rent or a mortgage.

Military is paid by rank/years in service, so all branches are the same.

I’m 34 and finally have a meeting scheduled with an ANG recruiter on June 4th! Keep contacting recruiters, even if they are in other states because they can call on your behalf!
@@nicolem6109 thank you! I may try that. I’m trying to get into NJ ANG and haven’t had any luck getting a hold of one. Maybe I’ll try another state and see if they can help.
