The PB&J thing is good. When I went to MC Bootcamp, I learned about a month in that you could get as much cottage cheese as you want and you can mix it with your main course to get rid of the nasty flavor. I gives you more protein so you can build and repair muscles better. Also the calcium will help your bones, ligaments. Only problem is you can over do it and become some form of semi lactose intolerant. That means you'll be killing your platoon with gas warfare.
Advice from an old vet from the 1960's: when standing in any military line, chow, etc., never stand at the back of the line or at the front of the line, always position yourself somewhere in the middle of the line. The front and rear positions are the ones they snatch for extra duty, like KP, or some other dirty duty. You are considered the lowest cherries on the tree and made for easy picking.
If a person not wearing a Drill Sergeant's hat tells you to pick up a Drill Sergeant's hat, even if they're the person who put it down, refuse to because you aren't allowed to do anything in basic unless a Drill Sergeant tells you to and a human being is only a Drill Sergeant if they're wearing a hat.
I just want to say thank you so much for everything you do with this channel. My husband is currently going through BCT at Ft. Jackson and these videos have been great for me to get an idea of what he's doing and what to expect, and I know he watched a lot of them before he left. Thank you so much!

If you really are not wanting to be in the Army and they give you a chance to get out with a general discharge before you start training or before you go to AIT take the chance, don't wait until you are already at A.I.T. and then decide you want out. Even at A.I.T. they may say" hey any of you having second thoughts and think maybe you might not want to go on to a unit, the army is just not for you, please come to my office and we will give you a General Discharge". It's the only real chance you are going to get before your deployed to get out with a General Discharge that goes away after 6 months and is like you were never in, other wise you may end up real psychological issues like some of the people who got out, or in trouble , or trying to commit suicide , or working with people on a hard job that requires a lot of motivation and putting others in danger you work with because you just are not really someone who wants to be in the Army. There were a few guys in Basic and AIT who tried to kill themselves to get out but the stupid part was they were told more than once they could talk to the Drill and the Captain would give them a General Discharge.
Also a lot of you are young guys and gals. Cussing seems like the thing because parents are not around. Even though the Drills may cuss some of them. If you get started cussing as a soldier , its a different kind of life, cussing becomes a habit really hard to fix, you really make it even harder getting along and being respected as a private if all your doing is grunting and cussing. Saying curse words every other word is how lots of guys end up. When you get out cursing every other word will land you in the hood the person know one understood.

My granddaughter just graduated from Fort Sill. Her biggest fear was the gas chamber. She admits she wish she knew what to expect, and not what the drill sergeants screamed at them to believe. I’m requesting you to make a RUclips covering the gas chamber. Exactly what to expect (every detail) and tips to make it a little more bearable, if possible. I was scared of gas chamber too. But it's only a couple minutes long and you're fine afterwards. In fact it ended up being one of the least problematic things in my whole.time in basic.

Take sleeping pills for two or three days to get the rhythm going. They help tremendously in terms of resetting sleep schedule. Like Bob said, quit your job and use the time to train physically and fix your sleep.
Tips for staying awake. Go to the back of the room and do pt. Have the time my drill sergeants rather see you all Russell take upon ourselves to discipline ourselves. Keeping in mind the way your company works be it Alpha through Echo in BCT, some DS’s will expect you to say for example 3rd platoon female drill seargent or 1st platoon senior drill seargent but as he says never call them sir or ma’am and never touch the headgear of one either. Another fun tip for all fresh recruits you will never be referred to higher than a private so do not pull the college SPC buisness your expecting too.
Also a tip for not smilin' is bite the insides of ur cheek. 1) It forces ur body to not smile, even when ur brain is like "Dont smile dont smile dont smile" which sometimes MAKES u smile more 2) U look innocent and u wont get smoked
It was a running dare to take the DS cover during OSUT. After graduation, some people were leaving with family and some were being loaded on half tracks for the bus. In all the commotion I saw a DS cover sitting on the stage and I was about to take it. But I didnt, probably for the best.
What year did they start with the so called BATTLE BUDDY? I never heard that term in 1982. But we did have friends we paired up with in our own choosing. I never experienced or heard of stories like asked to pick up Drill sgt's hat and so on. I did hear stories about that from family back in the day in the Marines for example on Parris Island killing a sand fly and having to bury him in a deep hole they had to dig :) I personally was scared to death of the Drill Sgt and never was in a laughing mood around them. Plus i jumped when they said to jump. I found basic simple. Do things by the numbers in order as per our SMART book we were issued on procedures. AND NEVER anticipate a command while marching or whatever. That will always piss them off. WAIT for the command
I have a random question. If you get issued glasses during Basic and you have to wear them during basic and AIT, are you required to wear them when you get to your duty station? Also how many PT tests do you have during basic?
No you don't have to. But you do have to have glasses that are within regulation standards. 3 PT tests. One for each phase of training. If you fail the last one then you can retake it.
I did that for training for police. They had us at the CAF Borden base for training temporarily. There is always a cold food station (for salads and things). One day the had cold burger patties as well. So I grabbed my main hot meal, And then made a cold burger (salad for toppings). You can get really strategic with this especially if you are looking by day 1. Any protein food strategy can be made. Full respect to CAF for letting me train there. Note: I would always eat ONLY eggs and fruit for breakfast, to grind out my fat loss. Then slowly eat more throughout the day, topping it off with the heavier stuff in the later afternoon/dinner. Recover fuel for your next 0400 PT
I would advise to act as a team, there would be 4 Batteries in a Platoon and they want each Battery to compete against each other, my Platoon and Battery flag was rolled up most of our training, but once we all worked together, our flags were waiving in the wind!
I ate some cake in 2002 while in the field at Ft Benning. I still don't know why I took it because I was aware of the trap stories. I was told to take the whole cake and eat it. We were about to start a roadmarch or something. I cant remember for sure. I ate as much as I could/wanted then pretended I was feeling worse than I really was. They saw I couldn't handle anymore and I was told to stop while they chuckled at me. I then went and stuck my finger down my throat before we started the march. That cake was tasty though. lol edit: the point was they wanted to see me throwing up during the road march and I wanted that heavy cake out of my belly before I started the march.
I'd really like to know this too. It seems like whoever they tell to go pick it up, they're setting them up to "fail" either way. Either you touch it because they told you to and you get in trouble for touching it, or you disobey a DS, and presumably get in trouble for that. I'd like to think there's a "correct" answer to this, just for the sake of it not being, "hey, watch me put this private in a no-win situation!"
You should make a Video showing the expected form on exercises in the army specially pushups, sit ups and Pull ups, and maybe tips on the rope climb and the over and under lig logs
newbie, working thru... anyways.. why serve cake if no-ones allowed to eat it? also, somewhere you talked about drillsgt telling you (an order)to pick up his head gear, yet if you do you'll get smoked... and order is an order, surely, as an new recruit how are you expected to know which orders to comply with and which not... sounds like they are setting people up to fail.
When I went to basic, there was a saying that if you touched a DS’ headgear that you were jinxed. If you were caught, you’d get the crap smoked out of you. Please...Do not touch the campaign hat!
Any tips for someone whos looking to join to military, but the only PT hes done was working 4 years in a furniture store, lifting furniture around daily.
Went to fort sill. We could have cake or ice cream but if you have a failing pt score they’d make you taste it again. Only the people who had failing pt scores and barely passing. If you had 70 in each event you ate what you want.
Hey man! I am enlisting soon, took my ASVAB and the psych eval and got great scores. Do we have any control over which unit we get assigned too? Hoping to get sent to Souel
I know this is off-topic but I just had to share with my recruiter told me about finding a local reserve unit. Here's what she said "Nashville is 5 hours and 15 minutes St Petersburg is 5 hours and 39 minutes Once you get in the Reserve, you can drill with any local Reserve unit". What do you think about this?
+Michael Jones He doesn't know what he is talking about. You are in a single unit and you drill with that unit. The ONLY time you can drill with another unit is when you are making up a day that you missed. RST You can't just pick an unit and go to it whenever you want.
No offense but if your talking about Five hour drives for a reserve unit every month I’m not sure if the MOS that’s gets you into that unit is in your best interest. If it’s a normal two day weekend drill that means you will have to head out at friday midnight just to get there on time and for occasional 2 1/2 weekends that means your going to have to take Friday off of work. And that’s assuming that your reserve unit provides overnight sleeping arrangements every weekend that’s no always a guarantee
My son is going in the Army in 3 weeks for basic. He is going in as an E3 due to being in JROTC in high school. Will the drill sgt look at him more being an E3?
Had to rewrite by hand the Army standard on height and weight. Because I wood clean off my plate. Because where I came from I was taught to clean off my plate and it didn't matter if I like the food or not. And when I went to basic I was expecting them to put me on the fat boy menu. Because that's how they did it over in Benning that a couple of my friends went to. I've been to Fort Leonard Wood. They didn't do that there then or a free basic training PT test. I think there's experimenting with our older people because it was winter time I don't know.
What if I have to use the head during a drill or training exercise? Do I get smoked for running off and digging a cat hole? Or do I just commit to shatting? Lol
Have you talked about white phase yet my son in it now ,I thought it went red blue white but they just completed red phase said heading start white phase

There was this one recruit(Chewy) in Basic who ate nothing but cottage cheese. He destroyed the bathrooms.

My platoon would always get smoked for privates eating cornbread.

No you don't have to. But you do have to have glasses that are within regulation standards. 3 PT tests. One for each phase of training. If you fail the last one then you can retake it.
How does battle buddy work? Do they assign you one?
I did that for training for police. They had us at the CAF Borden base for training temporarily. There is always a cold food station (for salads and things). One day the had cold burger patties as well.
So I grabbed my main hot meal,
And then made a cold burger (salad for toppings).
Leaving tomorrow in the morning, 😎👍🏻
I would advise to act as a team, there would be 4 Batteries in a Platoon and they want each Battery to compete against each other, my Platoon and Battery flag was rolled up most of our training, but once we all worked together, our flags were waiving in the wind!
Good one ^^^

Im leaving for basic training in 2 days 🧘🏻♀️ very excited
How was it ?
I ate some cake in 2002 while in the field at Ft Benning. I still don't know why I took it because I was aware of the trap stories. I was told to take the whole cake and eat it. We were about to start a roadmarch or something. I cant remember for sure. I ate as much as I could/wanted then pretended I was feeling worse than I really was. They saw I couldn't handle anymore and I was told to stop while they chuckled at me. I then went and stuck my finger down my throat before we started the march. That cake was tasty though. lol
edit: the point was they wanted to see me throwing up during the road march and I wanted that heavy cake out of my belly before I started the march.
Peanut butter and cheese spread are both like gold. Also unless this has changed always...ALWAYS go for the vegetarian MRE's.
11 days ft Benning , I'm pumped
joes potato chip good luck.
joes potato chip Well probably be there at the same time
joes potato chip I heard that’s the hardest basic then the others?
Hey Matt. What would be the correct response if a drill seargent asks you to pick up their head gear?
I'd really like to know this too. It seems like whoever they tell to go pick it up, they're setting them up to "fail" either way. Either you touch it because they told you to and you get in trouble for touching it, or you disobey a DS, and presumably get in trouble for that. I'd like to think there's a "correct" answer to this, just for the sake of it not being, "hey, watch me put this private in a no-win situation!"
My DS was named Murphy as well back in 1987...
When I get to basic training I will pass this on
If you get sleepy or tired in classes is it OK to stand? At our RSP we were told to stand up if you get sleepy.
Yes that is preferred what you should do. They will rather you do that than be nodding your head struggling to stay awake
Hey man how far into basic training did you take your 1st PT test
You should make a Video showing the expected form on exercises in the army specially pushups, sit ups and Pull ups, and maybe tips on the rope climb and the over and under lig logs
Coming Soon...
I start black phase tomorrow... last day of family day weekend 4 more weeks of this hell hole.
Harrison Lloyd Black phase? What branch are you in?
CodeXGamer 11b just finished infantry training
Former sailor here, I got my glasses in RTC and just wanted to know if I can keep em’ at basic.
newbie, working thru... anyways.. why serve cake if no-ones allowed to eat it? also, somewhere you talked about drillsgt telling you (an order)to pick up his head gear, yet if you do you'll get smoked... and order is an order, surely, as an new recruit how are you expected to know which orders to comply with and which not... sounds like they are setting people up to fail.
will the battle buddy thing be on Sunday too, like during church or while you're writing to your family?
When I went to basic, there was a saying that if you touched a DS’ headgear that you were jinxed. If you were caught, you’d get the crap smoked out of you. Please...Do not touch the campaign hat!
Haha love that!
Why do they put out dessert if you can’t eat it?
Going to Fort Benning September 5th! Good luck to everyone else! Hooah
Meds Banshee
We get there on the same day
HOOAH
My boyfriend leaves the same day ! Fort Benning wish you guys the best !
Any tips for someone whos looking to join to military, but the only PT hes done was working 4 years in a furniture store, lifting furniture around daily.
Johan Duran go outside and run & do push-ups
Lol I decided to enlist as soon as he said your not worthy 😂
Will I be able to buy stamps and letters in basic training?
ok so they basicly serve cake and ice cream just to throw it away ?
yes
So, if a Drill Sergeant asks you to pick up their head gear, which you shouldn't, how do you respond?
Went to fort sill. We could have cake or ice cream but if you have a failing pt score they’d make you taste it again. Only the people who had failing pt scores and barely passing. If you had 70 in each event you ate what you want.
Battle buddys woot :) I'm exited I take my Asvab 7/23/20 been busting my ass . working out run mind body and soul possibly ready i got this .
so if they ask to pick up helment what do you say to them? No?
Can u describe them by skin color?
Smoked black? Or brown?
I hear new apprrance you have emporer. Or should I call you Darth sidious.
drill sergeants sound like they could easily transfer into a career in psyops
Hey man! I am enlisting soon, took my ASVAB and the psych eval and got great scores. Do we have any control over which unit we get assigned too? Hoping to get sent to Souel
Wait you did a psych eval?
Off topic What happens if you can’t eat fish and everything has fish in the food line can i get food from somewhere els ?
At the hotel rn, plane to fort Jackson tomorrow. Wake up call at 0300 Ana flight at 0835
Good luck!
I know this is off-topic but I just had to share with my recruiter told me about finding a local reserve unit. Here's what she said "Nashville is 5 hours and 15 minutes
St Petersburg is 5 hours and 39 minutes
Once you get in the Reserve, you can drill with any local Reserve unit".
Anyone going to Fort Leonard Wood, Aug 29th?!
Norween Salalac hey man leaving out tuesday how was it?
So what do we tell the ds if he tells us to grab his hat?
Tell him you can't and that you aren't worthy
Make sure to call it a hat, too. They love that.

So, then what are you supposed to say when the drill sergeant asks you to pick his headgear up?
What if I have to use the head during a drill or training exercise? Do I get smoked for running off and digging a cat hole? Or do I just commit to shatting? Lol
Are you assigned a battle buddy from the start?
Dumb question... do you pick your battle buddy or is it assigned ?
Ik im in 2020 but what do you say if they ask you to pick up their head gear? No drill Sargent i wont?
Have you talked about white phase yet my son in it now ,I thought it went red blue white but they just completed red phase said heading start white phase
It's Red, White, Blue. And yes I cover all 3 phases. They were some of the first videos I uploaded
