Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera DIY Clutch Replacement - Part 1
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 янв 2022
- Our 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera had about 22% clutch life left when we bought it, so we decided to replace the clutch so the new owner could enjoy the car without having to worry about it. While in there, we're going to upgrade the exhaust to a Kline full Inconel exhaust which should really make it sound incredible! I can't wait to hear it! So we took the Super G to the Howard, and began pulling out the transmission and we will document our DIY clutch replacement.

These videos are proper addictive !! Love them
Thanks
Great content. Keep it coming.
Thanks
Great progress! Can’t wait for next video!
Thanks
Great content! Thanks for providing it. 👍
You bet
WOOHOO !!!! Love this !! Been waiting for some time & extremely excited !!! Hi May-ghun !!! Richard Leeeeee !!! Good to see you young man !!! Great work gents !!!
Thanks!
Superb opportunity to view the transformation works ...regards from Malaysia
Thanks
Awesome!
Thanks
Good stuff. Matt.
Thanks
Nice garage. Good content fellas
Thanks
I sense a lot of great content coming with this vehicle!
Hopefully
Meg needed a Lazy boy to just chill and watch you boys go at it!
Lol she chilled in the lounge area and had a glass of wine
I woke up cranky, and when I went online - NGSC video? Niiiiice. You have an infectious positive energy Dan, thank you!
Lol why thank you
Great video and i especially like that time-lapse part at the end
Thanks!
Finally back to wrenching! Thank you.
Yup
Love the time-lapse at the end. A big clock on the wall would be a good addition !
It's The Howard, so a better way to keep track of time would be the number of cocktail glasses accumulating on the work bench. 🤣🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
I like the cocktail idea
@@normalguysupercar If you do that, you and Adam have to sing the song from Jaws...
"I had a little drink about an hour ago, and it's gone straight to my head!" 😛
Dan you have hit on a great idea ✌️
Thanks
I bought the same jack! same color too.
Nice
I’ve got that exact jack. It’s fantastic. Also interesting they went with the standard engine/trans layout in the gallardo. In the Murcielago the trans is up against the firewall under the car and the engine is behind it.
Yeah
Very interesting Dan,thank you.Hope your having a awesome weekend.
Thanks! I am
i like the time lapse ending
Thanks!
Nice
Thanks
Dan, I have the same problem with my lift not slipping under my car. I cut some 2x10 with an angled in to roll the car up on, then my lift arms slip under easy.
Cool
This is the most exciting project you are doing so far on your channel. Can’t wait to see next video. Murci is next?
A Murci would be sweet
Excellent. Love the location and facilities ! also enjoyed the end time lapse piece. Are you changing the cats as well?
Yes!
Perfect time to detail that engine compartment!
That garage is cool as it gets, but the lighting (due to all the black) sucks for working in there, IMHO.
Indeed
Yeah, there is a reason that operating rooms are white, I'm just sayin'......
Good job! Guys, that’s a lot of work but, it will be worth it. I wish that I’m there to help out.
Thanks
easier to drive it up onto 2x6's to get the car higher
We did, they weren't high enough
Quality Lamborghini
Yup
Awesome
Thanks
Great guys!
The most anticipated video in all of youtube in the present date!
This kind of videos are the "cows" you need to milk more often!
Really enjoyed it!
Thanks!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
I’ve gotta say, I understand that it’s more work and editing, etc, but I really miss the old play-by-play, bolt-by-bolt diy videos like back in the F430 days. Just saying what needs to be done and then cutting to a shot of being done really glosses over how tedious and laborious these big DIY jobs really are and can be!
Those take about 4x longer to film and tend to get fewer views.
Maybe an idea might be to have both videos available and viewers can log into a library or something to see that info later who's actually doing DYI on their own vehicle it might be helpful. Let me rephrase it would be extremely helpful. Especially with a job as detailed as a clutch removal and replacement. Cheers Dan thank you for the great content.
Richard...... The Howard looks amazing !!!! Would love to have a drink with you guys there !!! One day, soon......
You bet
Regarding the two 36mm wrenches.. I have always had two of the stallwille motor 10 32x36 wrenches. They fit perfectly in many uses for Lamborghini and don’t break the bank ( $30 ea when I bought mine almost 20years ago)
Yeah there's a few things that need those big 36mm
I think if I had never heard a Lambo v10 before, and I saw what the mufflers look like first, I would think when I hear the car later, that the muffler setup looks as unique as the car sounds.
It's a strange exhaust design for sure
JB weild works great
Yup
Ahaaaaaa! it's change the clutch time!
Yup
Remind me what's up with that cool garage.
It's Richard's warehouse
I saw a brand new Evo coupe with a gorgeous pearl color being delivered today at the lambo dealership… at first I thought it was a performante from far away.
Nice
"RUclips Certified" love the outfits
Lol thanks
Are those springs that the muffler system was mounted to and resting on? I've never seen that before.
Yes
Maybe going forward you can cut up some 2x12 pieces of wood to drive up on and be able to move the lift arms underneath easier..
Yeah we need something like that
Hey Dan, get a replacement torx screw box off Amazon for VW vehicles. At the end of day VW loves their torx and you can easily replace all the hardware for pretty cheap. 👍
Good call
Where can I find a link to order the fiberglass rear bumper insert that you ordered for the mounting tabs
www.fgp-stuff.eu/index.php?typ=szczegoly_produktu&id_produktu=1066&id_kategorii=3&page=5&curr=USD&curr=EUR&curr=USD
Cool car stuff!!! Yeehah!
Thanks
you can sand jb but it on thick in the back side
True
Well that’s a common issue on the back tabs. I have read of people losing the decorative trim on freeway drives. If you find a source for replacement bumper plastic I am sure there would be a lot of interest. Also a plus for Larini 200cel cats. New ones are spaced better and wrapped. No CEL on my 2006 G.
There's a guy in the UK that's making an aluminum bumper skeleton that does away with the fragile plastic. They are working on U.S. distribution but it's like one guy so not sure about availability.
@@LapoftheWorld yeah I recall reading similar on the forums. Thanks. Btw love your channel too. I still need to watch your brake pad one. 😉
Yeah we're trying to get something set up for the bumper
Whenever I drain the oil(s) from my projects for an extended period, I like to add a piece of tape on the ignition switch with NO-OIL written on it...
Not a bad idea at all
How many drain plugs does the 5.0L motor have? I know the 5.2L has seven!
2
Really liked the time loop near the end showing all of footage. Could you work on the lighting though? It was a little bit dark.
Yeah more light coming hopefully
Great job Dan! Any info on the Viper that you can share?
It's not for sale.
@@normalguysupercar Year and mods?
Sir if you don’t mind me asking what happened to the list of all the cars you had for sale
I no longer maintain a list
Great video man, did you use the lambo workshop manual? I was able to source them pretty easy off lambo talk :)
Yes we did
That inner bumper plastic is a common issue on the gallardos including the lp cars as well .
Yeah it's a terrible design
Common issue on the skeleton of rear bumper, because of all of the heat from the exhaust …..I just bought new grilles and all OEM hardware. Same issue.
Ugh that's annoying
That's a big job! Good luck. A nice touch could be a stationary time lapse cam to cover the tedious work. Edit it in between the live shots. .Wow, my comment came too soon! nice job!
Thanks!
Nice! Glad to see this job in high res video format. Your gearbox filter didn't look any worse than mine on a recent change (~70k mile gated '04). I'm sure you've done your homework but you have to be stupidly-careful with the taillights. The plastic mounting tabs have the structural integrity of charred paper. Also, I put it in another comment, but there's a guy in the UK (he's on the forums and Gallardo FB groups) who is doing an aluminum bumper skeleton. May not fit in your time-window, but I also wouldn't mind knowing where you found the 'glass version.
Yeah that bumper plastic is terrible
Where did you buy the fiberglass bumper liner? Mine is in pieces too. I jb welded it and it then cracked in new places when I reinstalled the grills smh
friend I need to know the location of the actuator relay of the box can you help me?
I would suggest getting a service manual
What kind of warranty do you provide on your work?
None!
As a Euro shop owner for 12 years, lowered and track prepped cars were the bane of my existence and patrons were pissed because we charged a one hour “rack fee”
Lol yeah it's difficult and you want to be careful
Dan, that shift box for the e-gear looked nearly identical in shape as the Ferrari. Which bumper was easier to take off, the F430, 458 or SL?
The gearbox is made by Graziano trasmissioni, they also made single clutch gearboxes for Ferrari:en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graziano_Trasmissioni
I think it's basically the same actuator and shift box as the F430. This bumper was pretty simple to remove, just sucks about those stupid tabs
Be careful with the actuator lines, especially if they are the original set. Pulling them on and off will compromise the crimp connectors on the end and they will eventually fail. Ask me how I know 😳
Yeah I've heard
Jason Burtman on Lambo Talk knows of someone who is developing a part to replace the plastic inner bumper. You might reach out to him.
Ok nice
Lol mine had all different fasteners on the rear grills as well when I had the clutch done..all the same issues hah and my carbon fiber side skirts were gone when I bought the car and now I see why
Yeah that plastic is garbage
What is the Howard, for those of us not in Texas?
It's Richard's warehouse
To me the state of those brackets looks like over-tightening and the mix of fasteners shows the type of shop's that have worked on it.
You'd be surprised about fasteners. Dealers routinely don't put the correct fasteners in either.
Yeah the fasteners isn't a shock.
I feel like I saw someone install an aftermarket bracket that replaces all the plastic that cracks around the exhaust. I'm not positive but I think it was Royalty Exotics in Vegas.
Yeah we need something
Where are you guys working on the car? Looks like a nice building.
The Howard
6 speed conversion in the future of this project car?
Not sure
Great content! But whats up with the Mechanic suits haha
It's great for working on cars
Dan- have you checked out The Bull Riders channel and his Superlegara? Might want to check the bolts holding those rotors on…
Yes and mine are fine. 😁
That is definitely a 'dream shop'... but why all the black?? That would be absolutely brutal for working in. Unless it's just the camera, it seems SOOOO dark!!
It really is very dark
Yeah it needs light
Great video Dan!! Are you also thinking about swapping out the OEM cats? Would recommend the Larini high flow cats for sound and improved internal material. Really enjoying this series! 🙌🏼🔥👏🏼
The original cats on early Gallardo's brake apart and the material gets sucked into the engine😣
Yep, Larini sport cats. Great video!
I've got cat deletes
You had the car two damn days and you’re already taking it apart. You don’t waist time.
Nope
Thanks for the Superleggera vid' you can fix the tabs/cracks easily and cheaply off camera Lol but you are going to upgrade something that you will never see...
True
is the exhaust client Armytrix?
No it's Kline
I have that jack in blue. Could y'all have not driven it up on some wood blocks so the lift would fit under it?
Yes but that's tricky
🌸
Thanks
At 8:05, oh wow, i used to think Gallardos came with ITBs. Instead it’s just 2 huge throttle bodies.
Yeah most of the modern cars are this way
i would suspect those mismatched fasteners and those cracked hold downs on the bumper are related.
Very likely!
What kind of normal guy take the exhaust off and doesn't start the engine to see how it sounds like? Just kidding, good video as always.
Lol I thought about it
You need to get Adam a uniform with a big Porsche logo on the back.
Lol yes
your idea is better, up grade to fiberglass, i was a little eary on my comment, the replacement is the way to go,
Thanks
Those Cheap Plastic Brackets and the MisMatched Hardware!! I know the feeling, my man. Ditto on my car. just got a $20 air box bolt (1) that I lost while showing my son how to change the air filters (parent fail).
Why didn’t previous owners replace these things??
No idea but it's annoying
So bumpers are usually Thermo plastic “TPO”, there should be a mfg stamp that will tell.
Ok
Hi Guys.
Megan needs to get More Credit for All the Work She has done . Come Guys.
How is The Munchkin doing?
Extra Hugs For Him from Uncle Carlyle.
Greetings from Trinidad 🇹🇹
She's the best and Ash is doing great!
Man I think you screwed up. I love Ferraris but I think if you would’ve started your channel around a Lamborghini like this to start with, you would have as many subscribers as Strad man. I love your channel but love it even more now that you’re working on the Lambo! Great job and I hope this helps grow your channel
I mean is it really screwing up or learning lessons?
@@normalguysupercar I was totally kidding. Love all you do. It just seams like a lot of RUclipsrs that started with a lamo as there Chanel have done very well. Keep up the great work!
Olio
Lol yup
Is he a certified technician??
No
It's funny how ferrari t-shirt guys fixing lambo
Well I like both
I usually sell oem parts with the car, most people want them.
Ok
You can fix those cracked parts of the plastic brackets with JBWeld. I fixed part of a Maserati Spyder gear shift lever bracket and it was strong after curing. -- I didn't catch the part where there were larger cracked angles. Better to buy the fiberglass part or send it to someone to 3D print a new one.
Yeah it seems like a lost cause to fix plus it clearly has had attempted fixes before
very good idea 3D printing it 👌
Awesome facilities but working on cars with that much darkness seems like a nightmare.
It's actually quite well lit it's just cameras need tons of light
You are wrong about metal shavings.. :o)
Ok
Hopefully you don't need a new rear bumper the skeleton breaks up
Yeah that would be pricey
I had to do it on mine fortunately. Y rear bumper cover was not damaged or burned from exhaust so I took the skeleton from the new one and used it with my bumper cover saved having to match the extremely difficult tri-coat paint.
So, what are you driving these days Dan ?
My truck
@@normalguysupercar I give you an idea: drive a week or two all the cars you have for sale, you can get a better feeling on each single one of them. I don't know how easy in the US to get a temporary registration and/or short term insurance.
Take those plastic parts out, if you can, and plastic weld them, sand to finish and you should be good to go.
Yeah
Hey, I'm not going to say "you're wrong" about the metal shavings, but the vast majority of people hear "metal shavings in the transmission fluid" and freak out. So it's one thing to say "it's not too bad, it's not a big deal", but do us a solid and give us 30 seconds explaining why you don't think it's a concern. Is it the size and quantities that leads you to not be concerned, or is this a common thing on Gallardos?
Pretty much any transmission will have some small shavings in there so if it's not big chunks or the filter has lots of it...
@@normalguysupercar Thanks.
The drawback to mid engined cars, is they are a pain to work on.
Eh, I think in many ways they are easier. Usually there's more room. Downside is you frequently have to remove bumpers and stuff
Nice work! Can't wait core part 2 3 and 4. PS watch out for a Opel Corsa 😉 ruclips.net/video/Kkvj2LdD3R4/видео.html
Thanks
Is it worth the effort to 3D print replacement pieces for the cracked bumper mounts?
Possibly
