I bought a gen 1 R8 5.2 6 years ago. I’ve put 12k on it since then. Very reasonable cost of ownership, and super strong and reliable. Having a great mechanic you trust makes all the difference.
These are an absolute bargain to own and operate. It gets fantastic gas milage, they drive around great in the snow, and insurance is dirt cheap. It's the perfect daily driver.

I absolutely love this video. Very well done and simple. Great advice too. I love how you looked at it ground level and btw, nice choice in car too. It's absolutely on point and I share your opinion almost completely.
I’ve got an 08 Spyder, Australian delivered. I love the Pre LPs the engine is where it’s at. Also they increased the HP. My clutch is at 75% so I have heaps of life left. I don’t daily my car I had some little issues like the o2 sensors but overall I love it. I also like the styling of the pre LP with the flat front bumper and the longer headlights. But I like the LP rear more. I absolutely hate the Huracan and if I get another Lambo it probably be an Aventador or even a Mercy.
Interesting points between the PreLP and the LP. I owned an 06 PreLP and like you, hated driving it. It got that bad towards the end that I started driving my housemates Mazda CX5 more than I did the Lambo. For me it was the transmission that let it down, in and amongst other things like the lack of tech etc. Ive always wondered if the LP is really any better but you seem to suggest that it is. Could you tell me why?
I also have a 08 spider and love that car. I basically daily dive mine, but the summer is near and my AC does not work, I have the new compressor but have not installed it yet, having to wait for two gaskets before I pull the oil and water pump off, after that it is a tight squeeze to get the old one out and the new one in. I like to work on all my cars, have 14 different sports and supercars and still adding more. This car is a great Lambo, they are well built and can take the abuse.
It had around 45000 KMs (maybe a little under). I'm not sure exactly whether this is low or high for a clutch replacement on these cars. Mine currently has around 49,000 KMs. I've put around 7,000 KMs on it in total. I have never tracked it or launched it (that notoriously destroys the clutch). I'm not sure about the prior owner though. Nothing else has gone wrong with it. I infer that it was not tracked (or tracked heavily). But, you never know.
10 000 Australian dollars dude next time look up velocity AP their clutches cost in the 2700+ American dollars range and it’s manufacturer spec exact replacement it’s basically the OEM CLUTCH but without the supercar tax associated
Ive been on a 2013 used vw vento...probably they call it in a different name in U.S.A...polo with a trunk...yeah...and that car was so good it was in red colour...good...i don't think this lambo will be bad...i think it will be good
I didn't import it myself. But, you can import gen 1 Gallardos. This is because they are on a list of approved cars to import even though they are not 25 years old.
That all sounds damn expensive to me. I'm just an average dude and I am sure there are lots of me out there thinking, oh he says this car is relatively inexpensive to own. Maybe I can afford it. Yea 600 bucks for a tire. Not much less than I pay for 4. Ten grand for a clutch. I could probably get a new transmission with change for that price. Tuneups, brakes minor repairs, all twice the norm at least. And how often do you drive it? Enough to justify all that cost? Probably not, because it is just a toy for weekends and cruising. And the more you drive the more it costs. Naw, these are cars for guys who don't have to survive month to month on what they earn. Lots of flush cash burning a hole in their accounts. That's not most people, especially if you have a family. So if you have ideas, just look at your bank account and unless you see lots of money that you could do without, try not to be enticed by these videos. These things are anything but good value. And cash pit just means you are too poor to afford it. And I came here after watching the Doug Demuro video where he talks the same about a Gallardo for sale. Of course it is in his interest to do so.
And it is a good thing. If those cars would be everywhere then they wouldn't be special. And it is of course not for an average Joe, but people who already made it in one way or another. People with successful businesses and wealth in their nation. If you want cheap sports car there are countless options. Miata for example is one.
Have has my '06 for 3 years. The only expense other than fluid changes was a new alternator. OEM Bosch part was $500. If I bought it from Lamborghini dealer it would 5 times that.
Did you actually watch the video? What is he being ripped off on? Oil? O rings? Pollen filter? It’s all cheap stuff anyway. The only expensive stuff is the clutch and that’s not shared with Audi.
@@TommyWalls007 plus lad in video said he dont mind paying whatever they charge as he wants keep lambo stamps in logbook, but obviously person above cant get it
It`s the same with women. The cheapest ones cost you the most money

Invest in a 3 pedal car. Stand better chance to appreciate over time, and more fun to drive.

In Brazil you have to pay 4% of the car value per year. Ridiculous taxes here.
Didn’t fast and furious already help y’all with that 😂
In sri lanka you have to pay 200% of the car value initially.

What do you do for a living to afford so many super cars?
3:55 $600 pollen filter?
30 for the same part with vw part number

Why Pollen Filter Kit costs 687 your whacky dollars? Shouldn't that would be among one of the cheaper maintenance items?
In regards to the LP clutch replacement. How many miles did your car have? Or kilometers? How many launches? Was it tracked ?

Great review, very straight to point.
Beautiful LP, I have a question, does this car come with that front bumper or you upgrade it ? of you did whats the model of it ?
You can get DFC, centric and Bosch brake pads for under $50 US
Do you think its a good choice to buy one and import it to the Caribbean for example jamaica? And do you have an idea of the import costs?
In 3 years how many km have you put on it. And how many km per year?
What front bumper do you have. Is it oem? It looks way better than most of the ones i see on Gallardo
Those calipers look familiar. Is this the one that had the plates ramp up? Was in qld previously

In belgium you must pay alot for tax for example this v10 cost you 5000$ yearsly

I'm looking at Huracan or a McLaren 570S. I love the style of both.
$2.7k is expensive? For a Lambo?🤔
