Matthew Perry's death came as a devastating shock. To me, this is like losing a real great friend and family member. Perry brought so much joy and laughter to many while he suffered in complete silence, fighting his own struggles and personal demons. He was my favorite character from a show that defined one of the best times of my life and also helped me get through some difficult, depressing, painful ones in my early adult years. I will miss him, and I pray he found peace before he passed. My deepest condolences to all of his loved ones.🙏🏼💔😭🩵

I watched Friends in my teens and it was one of the reasons I decided to learn English. It opened the door for me to watch so many other sitcoms. In my 20s I would watch and rewatch every episode of Friends any spare time I have. Now in my 30s I am still watching clips of Friends on RUclips daily. I feel like we all identified with Chandler in the early seasons...he was riddled with existential angst, afraid of dying alone, but had a good heart and always made us laugh with his unique humour...his character was a real icon of the 90s.
No one could have played that role anywhere close to as funnily as Matthew Perry did. He MADE that character, even though someone else invented it. His acting and comedic timing were SUPERB. On a deeper note, Matthew was abandoned by his father at a young age. All the fathers out there should take note; you are extremely important to your children and how they turn out. I say this as an abandoned daughter who has also been negatively impacted by my parents’ negligence and cruelty.
Can I just take a moment to appreciate that Jennifer’s and Lisa’s reactions when Matthew spoke were so unbelievably genuine and heartfelt. I have always found both women to speak with sincerity when discussing their friendship with the group. Incredibly sad to think everyone is hurting.

I literally bought his book a few weeks ago but haven't gotten around to read it. I genuinely feel like a friend died and I am not ashamed to admit it. It's gonna be hard watching Friends now.
