Definitely choosing kinfisher, kingfishers are so majestic and beautiful, and birds have always been fascinating to me. I'll call her spark (seems counterintuitive, but it's inspired by the first line of a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins "when kingfishers catch fire") barbug and ratoroo look adorable, and will make brilliant additions to my team I'll call them Rick (from prickle) and Joey (a baby kangaroo) respectively

This is such a cute idea for some interactivity while watching, gives me something to doodle! I'll go with Kinfisher! Which is the first time the water pokemon is my first starter choice in any generation.

As someone who loves ecology, seeing a once thought to be extinct Twiguana in person would make my heart soar, and choosing one as my partner would allow me to study the presumably herbivorous reptilian Pokemon. I'll call him "Iggy", after Iggy Pop, who got his start with The Iguanas. My goal is to add Pokemon to my team that I believe may play an interesting niche in the ecology of the region.
It requires some effort to take down Capon, but Iggy holds on and takes the win.
While catching Pokemon on Route 1 I get a Barbug caught on my pant leg. As painful as it is, the little bug type fascinates me, and so I carefully pull her off and apologize with some Pokemon food. Once she's well fed, I offer to have her join my team, and name her Trillian after another famous hitchhiker. I then go to investigate the Slakoth relaxing on the trees, reminding me of my days in Hoenn, and lure it down with some leaves. He has an intelligent gleam in its eye, reminding me of how the brilliant Stephen Hawking only did 1000 hours of work during his four years of Oxford, and so Stephen joins me on my journey.
So Toby, on this Journey I decided to handle things a little differently as a seasoned Champion. with the introduction to the starters I found myself getting down onto one knee, bringing myself Level with the little creatures and explained "it is usually tradition for a trainer to choose his partner Pokémon before embarking on a Journey. but we will do things a little differently my friends, to forge a brighter future together, I ask, Which one of you, Chooses me?" and with that there was a chuckle from the Professor Dodona when Kinfisher took flight with its Tiny wings and landed on my head. it was the first to make up its mind about going on this quest together. and with that we battled Cass and adventured on to Route 01. Where we befriended a Ratoroo on our Journey after an attempt was made to steal some food from us to feed its pack. Kinfisher and I using its ability to fly easily managed to forage some berries to help supply them with.

I love the idea of taking us through the full concept right away, characters, region, and all! And I can picture my trainersona, a Sinnoh champion and innkeeper, traveling here to learn and train! As of right now, I can't say which starter I'll choose as I want to know who they'll all evolve into, but I'll keep you posted!
So I recently read Rick Riordan’s “Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle” and learned about The Grove of Dodona. Perfect timing :) I absolutely love the story of Olympia in his series and of course Pokémon. Great idea Bird Keeper Toby! By chance, are you also a Demigod?
I choose Embull, and I'm going to name him Torch.
Capon is no match for Torch. Easy win. Torch levels up and learns Ember.
I have a feeling Cass is going to need a reality check sooner rather than later.

Tempest log 1: a tough choice with the starters I decide on twiguana and beat my trainer unconventionally
I decide to hunt down this rare unique capon, due to dumb luck and determination I find it
I usually pick the grass starter, so I pick Twiguana. That’s my whole team right now
Also Capons difference is subtle but it’s creepy now that I’ve noticed it

First off, fantastic work on this. A lot of Poketubers have been doing these creations of Pokemon worlds and I love what's been made so far. I do regret not having seen this two months ago but I'm glad I could eventually. So as you said we should comment on our Journeys of this region that's what I shall do.
My name is Externis ,champion of Kalos, Kanto, Alola, and Galar. My past Pokemon have all been like family to me and I hold them dear to my heart. I think that when Professor Dodona brings out the Pokemon who would accompany us the first thing I would do is yell "They're so cool!!" and startle the Pokemon and Professor. Then the Twiguana would be angered by the yell and try to attack which I would take. I'd say that it's fine and would apologize to the Twiguana. Then I would ask the Twiguana "You know that was an awfully strong attack you got there. I know you can get a lot stronger so what'dya say to coming with me on this journey with me?" After battling Cass I would head to route 1 catching a familiar Pichu and reminiscing about my first Pichu. I'd search for berries to get some food when I'd suddenly grab a berry with a Ratoroo stuck on. Before it has a chance to leap into the sky I'd throw a Pokeball and catch my third Pokemon.
Whelp, gotta go with my personal tradition and pick the bird starter: Kinfisher!

Well, this'll be interesting. Guess it's time for a Champion to have a restart and get to experience the beginnings of a grand journey, once again.
For starters, my name is Bari, champion of both the Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Galar regions. I absolutely love my pokemon and every friend I've made throughout my journeys in the world of pokemon. Each memory is precious to me, and I can't wait to start making more here in Solympia.
I'm kinda known for a little quirk of mine where when I get a starter, I ALWAYS pick the fire type. And here in Solympia, it's no exception. I don't know what it is, but that fiery passion just pulls me in. So, I choose Embull, already super excited to see the end result of his evolution.
Embull with me would no issue taking on her Capon. Embull can't lose that contest of endurance. And I'm delighted to see it learn Ember, the staple of early level fire types. Cass is definitely a little standoff-ish, but she seems like she has a good reason for not liking "Stormers," and I don't want to judge her based on experiences I have no idea about. She seems like she might be good though, and definitely has what it takes, just like my many other good friends and rivals from regions before.
Route 1 definitely feels new and exciting, but also lovely and nostalgic. A new journey through a new region. I know I'm beating it in the head about the new start and all that, but man. The start is always one of my favorite parts about traveling around. The renewed sense of wonder and amazement that comes with it. As far as catching, gotta fill up the pokedex somehow, so catching all of them that I can is my only option. But I see that Barbug and Rattaroo, and I am enamored. I'm going to add them to my direct team and train them up alongside my Embull.
The cave seems exciting as I can begin to see what rock types are around and if there's a Zubat equivalent. But what's this, a voice?...
Okay, time to catch up with this during my lunch break! And to start off, can I just say I love the little nod to Colloseum with the revised opening theme?

definitely picking twiguana, it's my favourite looking of the starters! on route one i'll be catching capon because you can't go wrong with a bird pokémon, and ratoroo because i love its funky colour scheme. and of course, can't forget the "running around route one for an hour training up my new pokémon while my starter remains totally overlevelled" bit ;)

I like them a lot more to the “fakemon Pokédex” Instagram accounts because this actually feels kinda like experiencing a “pick your choice” story that’s almost interactive? I think the water type is a king fisher bird,the fire an ox (obviously) And the grass is probably a Pinocchio which were at one point believed to be extinct but aren't but by the way the starters look amazing and I would definitely choose the grass starter!

I looked towards the island from the window of my cabin. A huge storm apparently known as "The Tempest", typically surrounds the Solympia region in an all but impenetrable storm. Sure, some Pokémon could get past it, but there wasn't much reason to do so. However, with the storm gone, I was personally invited to take part of the local gym challenge. Apparently my exploits have been heard even through the gale of the unending storm. I was certainly surprised, but I couldn't resist checking it out, and I know many other champions were curious about this region as well. Getting to the island wasn't extremely difficult, but not necessarily easy, either.
There was an incident with a curious Wailord, but we were able to get past that without too much struggle. After we landed, I took my first steps onto a new land, a new region! I took in the heat of the sun, and the smell of the ocean. That's not all I smelled; I smelled adventure. A new adventure awaited, and I couldn't hold back my curiosity much longer! I was told that I couldn't bring in any other Pokémon for the ecology of the region. I was completely fine with that. Honestly, I was planning on leaving behind my team and train a new one. It wasn't the first time I've sent my Pokémon to rest while I journey through another region.
I've done this in Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Alola, and Kalos. I haven't visited Galar or Hoenn yet, but when I do it will be the same. I've made many powerful teams with Pokémon from around the world, and I wanted to see what new champion quality team I could create from here! I know they really wanted to come along, but I needed to see the strength and potential of these new pokemon. The sea breeze and sun combination was great, and the professor was extremely welcoming in spite of me being an outsider. Due to my love of lizards and fondness for Grass types, I chose the grass type starter, Twiguana. I was then challenged to a battle. Her hair was white, and kind of reminded me of a the hair of some character in a game I've seen, but never had time to play. I think they were a squid, or was it an octopus? The pokedex said her pokemon was a Capon, which was part flying. She seemed aware of type advantages and disadvantages, and said as much about my position on the type chart. While this random trainer had the type advantage, I beat her without too much struggle due to a well placed critical hit, not that it was necessary.
Honestly I was barely focused on her, I was more thinking about how adorable my Pokémon was and how I couldn't wait to explore everywhere with it! I was feeling a bit hungry, so I named it "Potatoes". I sent it out of the pokeball and let it wander with me for some time, getting to know it better. Apparently it likes Oran berries and might be afraid of heights? Either way, I've kept that in mind in case I encounter any mountains. Potatoes got to know me better as well, learning about my dislike of bugs through a curious Barbug and my very embarrassing screech in reaction. It hopped around, smelling the flowers, and we both wandered around. While usually we walked together, at times we were separated. However, we were never too far from each other at any given point.
On route 1, after a small battle, I captured a Capon. As I was still "Peckish" I named it after my favorite Fried Farfetch'd restaurant, Kanto Fried Cooking. That was too long so it became "KFC". I might not be a resident of Kanto, but I still like me some KFC. While there, I found a feisty Slakoth, using 3 pokeballs to get it, and leaving me with one pokeball to catch something. Sticking with the food theme, I named it "Cupcake" because it has some brown fur that make a a little swirl on it's head, looking like a Cupcake frosting, and another... less fortunate object, but I went with Cupcake instead. Handily defeating the trainers, I headed into the cave to continue onward and capture something unique, hopefully.
I wish both this and Lockstin's Kaskade region were actual games, they'd be fun as hells

Awesome video and a fantastic first chapter in this epic new Pokemon story. Tough choice on the starters. I'm typically a fire type kind of guy, but this time I choose Kinfisher. I'll pick up a Ratoroo and Barbug, as well as a Pichu for coverage. I'll catch a Capon for the dex, but box it for now so as not to have two flying types this early on.
My starter pokemon choice for my team is Kinfisher. As when I met the starters twinguana was a bit shy and timid towards me, embull attacked me and kinfish was the only one who stayed calm and allowed me to pat it. The 2nd pokemon I obtain on my journey was a ratoroo, I was trying to catch a pichu but instead, ratoroo got in the way. But I don't mind he's adorable.
Well, I just wanna say that it looks so epic, like wow, thank you! I'm really glad (and kinda proud) this region has ancient Greek mythology in it 'cause, well, I am Greek (tbh I'm still learning about Ancient Greece in school but nevertheless I know the basics) ! Also, I'd like to add one more word and you figure out the rest: Kinfisher : ).

I start off my journey by choosing my very own starter, Twiguana. As I move onto Route 01, I come across some new faces and decide to catch myself a Barbug, Capon, and Ratoroo. I might realize later on that there are some changes to a few of the pokemon I already know, and might even come back to catch myself some more friends, but that is for later. I am new to Solympia, so I want to know everything there is to know, including the region's pokemon. So, as of right now, my team consists of Twiguana, Barbug, Capon, and Ratoroo.

I'm so indecisive for starter selection so that's undecided for now, as for the new captures I just caught one new mon and that was Rateroo it's really cute and my favourite type is fighting so I decided that it would join my team
I never did have the attention span to watch this when it first came out, but after the latest "behind the scenes" video of sorts, I decided it was finally time!
It was a really tough choice between Twiguana and Embull! Twiguana makes me think of the Treecko line, which I absolutely adore, but I love fire type starters in general. I ended up picking Embull, and picked up a Pichu, Capon, and Rataroo. I can also see myself roaming around until I found the Capon I wanted, the slit pupil is really interesting (ofc at this point I know what the twist is but ;alksdjf)

Woah, this is looking really cool! I'm having a hard time deciding what pokemon I'd pick. As for the starters, I think I'm more partial to the birb. I'm not sure I would fill my team out much, its still seems pretty early in the journey.
I like how the professor already refers to us as champion almost as if Toby and crew who worked on this were aware the people who would hypothetically play this have already played the other games

A greek region has alway been what i wanted Pokemon to do, however i feel like they wasn't planning to far ahead. Simply because when designing the Sinnoh region, although a Japanese based region it took massive inspiration from greek and ancient cultures because the game involved Arcues the Pokemon god. So they kind of dug themselves into a pit when it comes to Greece, Rome & Africa.
Greece is a country, Rome is a city and Africa is a continent. Why not use Italy and Egypt?
I don't think the entirety of Africa is covered by Sinnoh's themes. That's an entire continent, after all, and living here there's plenty other themes that can be drawn on.
@@matthewbooth8487 You are right about Africa. I was hesitant to put it there but at the same time could turn a blind eye to some of their inspiration. Africa does have a rich amount of myths and legends that extent far beyond the great mysteries Egypt.
@@therockingvolbeat3630 It's cool, I would shorten Africa to Egypt, their is no question about that. However I would still leave Greece and Rome for more a direct emphasis on their well known history. But remember the Unova region is influenced by the USA but a majority is simply based on the state of NY.
My team so far:
Kinfisher (I call her Kinnie) who despite having a timid nature is highly curious. Turns out she has a severe phobia of pokeballs so she spends most of the journey on my shoulder
Ratoroo (I'm in between calling him Tough-Guy or Big-Guy) who's a complete contrast Kinnie, having a bold nature that leaves him with good endurance in a fight
Well then, Twiguana, Barbug, Pichu, Ratoroo and I are bringing the storm to Solympia alright. Ain't no one gonna stand a chance!
Been super excited for this one and with it finally here, I feel my love for Pokémon revitalised in a way that hadn't happened in a long while. Thank you so much Toby and everyone involved, my Fridays for the rest of the year are gonna be just that little bit more special ✌️💖

Below will be some of my thoughts on the fakemon in this video as well as the game.
The opening before selecting a new game reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

Hmm. These "tempests" sound like significant events in nature and/or weather. I wonder if it has anything to do with a legendary.
2:35 So the Grass starter is Twiguana. I was wondering what kind of reptile it was based off of. It's also good that the hidden ability is currently Chlorophyll. I like its Pokédex entry. Props to the writer of it! It looks to be primarily a physical attacker. I see. I'm looking forward to seeing its evolution line.
-My nickname for it based on what I know about Twiguana, which is already a good name as is, will be Galapagos.
2:51 Embull is the Fire starter of Solympia. It looks to be a physical attacker with a higher Speed stat than Twiguana, at least those who do not have the Chlorophyll ability activated. Although, Twiguana seems bulkier than Embull. Its hidden ability is Sheer Force. I personally don't like that ability, but I'm sure that will be liked a lot by the more competitive players. I'm looking forward to seeing its evolution line. I hope that the hidden ability changes to Rock Head or something else by the time it's fully evolved.
-My nickname for Embull so far will be Ares, after the Greek god of war.
3:10 So the Water starter is Kinfisher, a Water/Flying type based off of a species called the kingfisher(according to the comment section). It's definitely my favorite of the starters based on their basic stage. I'm looking forward to seeing its evolution line. While its physical attack is higher than its Special Attack, it looks like this starter can do fine with a mixed set. It's definitely faster than the other two starters, yet the frailest of the three. I'm very much interested in the hidden ability called King's Blade.
-My nickname for Kinfisher will be Verity, after Lake Verity from the Sinnoh region.
11:14 So Barbug is a Bug/Poison type that's physically bulky and a Special Attack stat that's slightly higher than its physical attack. It will be interesting to see what its evolution line will be like. While I don't think that I would use one on my team, I would at least catch one at some point for the sake of the Dex.
11:39 So the rival's signature fakemon is Capon, a pure Flying type. It knows Peck, Scratch, and Sand Attack as its earliest moves. I'm very curious to see its evolution line, as I could imagine it becoming a fakemon resembling a large flying bird, a large flightless bird, a dragon, a basilisk, or a cockatrice. It seems like it has a split evolution since the rival's Capon has snake/cat eyes rather than circular pupils. I'd consider using one on my team. I'd definitely try to catch two; one with regular eyes and another with the distinct eyes. They seem to be primarily slow, physical attackers with a high Special Defense stat.
-Cass has a good design and voice actress. I don't get why she dislikes outsiders. Hopefully, clarification will be brought to light later on.
-The Pokédex of Solympia looks pretty good.
12:08 While I wouldn't use a Slakoth(future Slaking) on my team, I would at least catch it and Pichu. An eventual Raichu might make the team, but I'd probably rather use an Electric type that's exclusive to Solympia.
12:27 So Rataroo is a pure Fighting type that's fast and has even offensive stats. I'd definitely consider using one, plus it's fairly cute.

Oh shoot Cass’s Capon got funky eyes. It looks more like a predator in my opinion . Maybe it evolves into a different pokémon then normal Capon?

I chose Kinfisher because its the best, I also added Barbug to my team because I'm curious to see what it evolves into. Great first episode keep it up :).

All the starters look ace, making this a touch choice... But will most likely choose between Twiguna and Kinfisher [fineee then, it's Kinfisher].
I'll also add Barbug, Pichu and Ratoroo to my team.
I could be wrong about this but I believe that the starters all fit the basic themes that starter Pokémon usually follow like the grass type is based on a prehistoric animal, either a raptor, or possibly a Megalania which is basically a giant Komodo dragon and I know this is an iguana but still.
The firestarter is a member of the Chinese Zodiac, embull could resemble the ox.
And the water starter is based on a weapon theme, so either a sword or a knife
All of the starters look great and I had trouble deciding but I love the look of Kinfisher, i think my team would be Kinfisher, Rataroo and Barbug, I feel like they would be really fun and the all look incredible too
Coming off a gym internship in the Galar region, trainer Valentine accepts an invite to this new region only taking along her oldest parter, Meganium. After some deliberating between it and the bull, Kinfisher is the gift she chose...but she also picked up a Barbull to raise because the damn thing's just so cute. She's intrigued by the goatlike pokemon the professor showed her as well. Now if only Cass would calm down a notch, I'm sure they could become good friends...
As someone who also made a Kingfisher starter for their fakemon region, I have to go Kinfisher. I think we are going different directions with it, but we’ll see. Also on the team are Capon, Pichu, and Rataroo. Barbug as well, but I have a feeling he’ll be replaced.

I love all of the starters, and I was SUPER tempted to go with Kinfisher as I believe I've seen his final evolution in another video and its really cool, but Twiguana is just so intriguing. I feel like it will become Grass with Rock or Ground which is a great combination and I'm curious to see his final evolutions.
So, Twiguana is my starter!
Obviously, I managed to catch ALL the pokemon in Route 1, lol. However, the one I am going to focus my training on it Rataroo because it's adorable!
Now, on to episode 2!
After challenging the Sinnoh League and winning the Johto League, I left my Infernape and my other Pokémon with professor Rowan and set out for the Solympia region. I received a Twiguana as my starter, fought Cass, and caught a Capon,(although not a special one). I can’t wait for the next episode!
I came from Gnoggin’s “Lockemon” videos and I can’t wait to get started with my pokemon! My team begins with Embull and I’ve added the rare variant of Capon, Barbug, Pichu, Rataroo, and Slakoff! This will be sooo fuuun ^w^
I look forward to this series. Absolutely loving it so far, and want a real game of it. My team so far would probably be embull, barbug, capon, the fighting rat who's name escapes me, and probably pichu. It would give me some interesting type coverages.
The Grass starter looks like Peter Griffin laughing. Regardless, I'm choosing it.
It was really hard to pick which starter I wanted though, you did a really good job. I eventually chose embull because 1, I tend to purfer the fire starters, and 2 I feel like it's the most likely to evolve into a mythical creature, that being a minotaur.
I named him Demois, because it sounded like Minos(the ruler of Crete during the myth of the minotaur) without just naming him that.
I also catch a barbug named crabapple, a capon named scabird and a pichu named surge.
As a champion who has traveled across nearly every region, it was tough to leave my beloved Absol, Blade, behind. However, this wasn't the first time we've been apart as I had to travel through Galar without her. But we did eventually get to travel again once I was able to visit the region's tundra.
I am known as Hikari Lumina, and the starter I have chosen for this adventure is Embull. While searching route 1 for some more Pokemon to add to the team, I run across a Capon that looks like Cass'. I defeat the route trainers with ease and make my way towards the cave.

For once I could see myself picking any of the starters, but first off its gotta be Embull. Fire types are usually my default and I really love the way the markings on its head and side look like the opening slits of a furnace.
Starting our journeys with a spark to the step, a heated battle and far warmer experience then I remember starting my first journey in.
Starting with Embull was a clear choice for myself, a bit of a difference to my previous starter type choices but one that doesn't look like it should disappoint.
Finding an early favourite of mine Slakoth was a sure way of having one on my team and while I would prefer to catch at least one of every Pokemon species I can find, completing my Pokedex is something I remember fondly accomplishing my team would stay with just Embull and Slakoth for now.

Twiguana looks amazing, so he’ll be my starter. Through route 1, I’m picking up a Slakoth to keep us company.
I LOVE the look of the trainer!! The ruffled hair, the leafy halo (whatever those things are called), the little bit of lash on the edge of their eyes, it's so adorable (and no I'm totally not biased just because they look like me)!!

I've noticed there are a few comments about the region what my starter would be and so on but what I have to say is the very beginning bit of music like the first 2 notes sounds like the beginning of all along the watchtower so I preceded to go listen to Jimi Hendrix's all along the watchtower
I was so surprised when i heard about solympia, i had gone to all other regions after all! I went to embull and stared at it as the other 2 looked sad. But when embull didn't look at me with any interest I had decided that Kinfisher is so elegant that i picked it and named it hafgata which is icelandic for Ocean Pierce. The battle with Cass was a good fight she's still an newbie though. I found a Cat eyed capon which i thought was cute so added to my team with the name Ventus which is latin for wind.
I then caught a ratoroo because I liked its jumpy attitude
I like this so far, I'd choose embull as my starter and pick up Capon and pichu along route one.
Looks like an interesting series, can't imagine how much planning this took.
