Maybe the different starters could be different negative emotions instead, grass being sad or more since it's extinct, and rarely found, leading to lonesomeness, seeking affection but being rejected and chased off, while the water starter being dread, starting off similar, but just growing bigger, stronger, wilder, hungrier, dread coming from its ever increasing size and hunger, until it's as large as the seas itself, driven feral and uncontrollable by its hunger
I feel like the fakemon community is getting slowly growing. Ive been in this community in a while and its a first time seeing a region bassed of horror.
I love the prospect of a horror-based a lot, and I have some ideas for you: Pokemon based off of mass hysteria events (witch trials, war of the worlds, Y2K, etc) Such as a spooky little witch, a robotic alien, and a late 90’s computer? I also suggest one for the black plague, similar to slowpoke and slowbro? A rat pokemon (or regional rattata) that is normal type, and a flea pokemon which is poison/bug type The flea bites/attaches to the rat and it evolves into a poison/fear type Another idea is analogue horror (one like polteageist but it’s a tv ghost might be interesting) Mimics, cordyceps fungus, common, unusual, or even very existential phobias (such as cosmophobia) Those are just some of the ideas I have
Normally when watching a video from a friend I purposely sit through it all the way to the end to give max watch time. But when watching this it doesn't feel like a chore, I'm watching this a third time now and I'm still entertained to the end. Love this stuff. Keep it up!
If you ever need any ideas, make a pokemon based off the umibozu, they’re gigantic pitch black yokai who rise from the sea, then forces sailors to hand it a barrel so it may flood their ship slowly drowning them
Interesting approach on a Fakemon region, definitely earned a new subscriber^.^ I 100% would go with the grass starter. It's green and pink, you can count me in (eventhough its a spider)
What would be a fun idea is making one or more fakemon that aren't actually horror based and either really fear the actually horror themed ones or using them to an advantage, like a symbiotic relationship :).
I have a suggestion: a water/ghost type Shark Pokémon that is a reference to both Shark flicks (Jaws, Skarknado, Ghost Shark). And malevolent spirits (The Ring, Poltergeist... and Ghost Shark)
Man these go really hard, mad respect dude. Though if I were to share some critique, I would say that (personally speaking) Rattlage and Isolock could do with some design touch ups: For Rattlage, personally I feel like it could lean abit more into it beginning to leak energy/fire some more through the gaps in its bandage, with the hint of its Cobrage patterns being focused on its underbelly. The idea being that the flames it was hiding as a Pythember getting their first chance at freedom and burn really hard before being pulled barely under control for Cobrage and its flame hood (which I feel there was a slight missed opportunity to not give the hood a more obvious pattern, like its underbelly but thats a minor thing really) For Isolock, my personal opinion is that it doesnt deviate enough from Isoceror and arguably look more like male/female designs than a new form. Starters tend to have noteable distinctions between the second and third stage, if not the first two stages and that feels abit lacking in my opinion. If I were to suggest a update that doesnt like alter the idea going for it, I would suggest maybe adding some feather star elements that sprout from within "cowl" that frame its head, then making the cowl look like its a deep black void with "eyes" in it. I would also suggest adding something ot its "base" that alludes to coat tails or a "Slime" trail (sea monsters tend to have those). Maybe some glowing from its joints to indicate its power? Actually hold on, yeah so Warlocks tend to get their power from another being they made a deal with, which has alot of benefits and negatives. So the glowing from between its segments and the eyes in its cowl could be likened to its benefactor watching through its form - or maybe hint at it being a puppet as a punishment for its dark trade for more power Anyways, thats just some opinion of mine, your stuff is still cool enough, I cant wait to see what you bring up next
I've gotta say, normally speaking, I don't like fanmade Types (Types that make sense in context are an exception, like the Nuclear Type in Uranium being only found in Pokémon mutated by radiation in the only Region that has nuclear power plants, or the Crystal Type in Azurite only being in a region that has a special gimmick that's tied to it). That being said, Cobrage is definitely my favorite of the three, and at least you tried to do something new instead of just repeating something like Light and Sound, or even the somewhat less common Cosmic again.
Im in love with these...but im so sad! How on earth would you be friends with the fire starter if its so ANGRY? And people are giving these to new trainers? I NEED to know the deets on this! I think the Spider would be my starter here...its do creepy but gives me good vibes... also you can ride it it seems. The last one is really cute and i can see the first stage as this worlds pikschu? Not sure on the final though? I love its concept though! You got a new follower cause im excited to see more from you!
So far I love the starters , they show so much detail and thoughtfulness. The only criticism I have is that with Isolock, now it may be just me but I would like to think it as a massive creature that rises from deep, not a pole with magic powers coming out of the water (sorry if that’s rude). So I would suggest making Isolock more towering and dreadful, and to have small pupils in its eyes, so you can tell if it is looking down at you with such a feeling of fear of what it will do next…and then you catch it in a pokeball :D So yeah, if you see this I hope you have a wonderful day and do not think my ideas for what it could be as hate, I just think it could be even better
Really cool designs, personally I have severe arachnaphobia and thalassophobia so going "What could be worse than giant spiders? Nothing really, except the ocean" is terrifying

I like how the Fire-Type Starter also kind of looks like it suffered horrible burns. The skin is red and raw-looking and the wraps are reddish as if soaked in blood.
Ya know, the fire starter could have some crazy lore. Like, a Farao who would later become an coffigrus had it as an pet, and when he got mummified, the snake got mummified with him. In old Egypt people also used to mummify cats and other animals while they where alive with their faroa, as guiding pets.
What would be interesting since its horror themed is that if you let your Pokemon faint to many times, the Pokemon not only refuses to listen to you, but turns on you in battle. Either the opposing Pokemon could kill it before it kills you or both could attack you. Whether or not the trainer can fight back, idk. Would be interesting if along with Pokemon power ups you could get defense items that just say ‘bat’ and it would be a metal or wooden base ball bat. It doesn't specifically say what it’s for in the description, just what it is physically. Depending on the Pokemon, the defense item might not work, and might even break depending on typing. Furthermore, the friendship levels could play a part in that you only have so many chances to not allow them to faint before they try to kill you. It could be that you just lose a heart after a certain amount of times until the friendship is just gone and the next time they faint in battle they turn on you. Something else that could be interesting is to make the friendship pokeballs extremely rare/ extremely expensive cause everyone in this region is TERRIFIED of having their Pokemon try to kill them so everyone uses those kind of pokeballs specifically. Could even be a black market for them too. Would be interesting to have a few different people scattered around town that sell you fake friendship pokeballs for cheaper claiming their prices just can’t be beat. There could be one guy that actually has them super cheap and they’re real, but he’s incredibly hard to find in game. 1 in 99% chance of finding him and he looks just like the fakers. There could be a slight different in the friendship balls that you can tell their fake by, whether that be coloring or and extra line or something. If the player were to ask about it, they could say its this regions version of the pokeball (if the player would be a tourist and not from the area potentially. Would be funny if they were and you would get dialogue like ‘right….ricky and these dumbass knock off freindship pokeballs again….’)
I had a very different take on this same idea. The Horor region is a wild and hostile place when compared to the rest of the pokemon world, with trainers who end up there never being seen again. I also have two "unique" types for it: sound and felt types. Sound's self-explanatory, but felt type is associated with fabric/sewing (think Shuppet, Banette, Mimikyu, etc.). My starters are Embark (fire werewolf), Rottnyan (grass sabertooth zombie), and Dewte (newt tethered water type). the box legendaries are based on the headless horseman and long horse respectively. i made a kinda overpowered ultra beast based on SCP-682. The evil team is a full-on death cxlt and a whole lot more.
Super excited for more of this region, I already love horror, and I already love Fakemom, perfect combo, and I maybe only on the fire one, but I already love this artstyle and love the concepts (I hope a lot of ghost types aka my favorite one)

Idea for pseudo legend if you haven’t got one already!! So like, it could be a centipede, that’s also mixed with the vibes of an Iron Maiden, and the legs replace the spikes! Bug/fear or Bug/steel would both be good fits for it I think. This region is super super cool!!! Looking forward to seeing more !!
For the first time ever, I’m compelled to choose the grass starter, lmao, i always choose the fire type due to the early advantage to grass and such, excluding mudkip, because mudkip is the pinnacle of starter pokemon, and marshtomp is… uh…. Our special little man, and Swampert is soooooo friggin cool, but then you make this super frickin cool mega grass spider twice the size of a trainer, honestly it almost beats mudkip in terms of design!

The fire starter reminds me of the Vritra, a monster from Vedic and Hindu mythology. The Vritra is described as a colossal demonic serpent-like dragon that is so giant it can wrap around mountains. The Vritra is described as a creature that predates life on our planet; it was said to hold all the waters of the world in its stomach before they were cut out by literal gods as it fought them over the baren rock was our world before the waters fell down upon it; the Vritra is said to have a hunger so ravenous that it "Seeks to Swallow the Sky," which is a terrifying thought, a giant snake that seeks to consume all of creation. The Vritra is said to have vitality so great that a literal party gods could not kill it, so they had to seal it away in a place nothing can reach, in a powerful enchanted slumber. I imagine something based on this would be a Legendary or mythical in your Horror region, mostly due to the fact the Vritra ticks a lot horror boxes. It's an ancient primordial evil that can not be killed, it's demonic, it has a form that resembles a serpent in the creepiest ways possible, it's literally so massive it can't be ignored, and it has a literal insatable appetite for literally everything until there is literally nothing left. It's basically a manifestation of the Deadly Sin of Gluttony (Greed could probably work here too, but Gluttony seems more appropriate). And while other serpentine entities in world mythology are bigger in body size, such as Jormundandr from Norse mythology being big enough to wrap around the world, the fact the Vritra can literally coil around mountains, while also eating them in their entirety, is whole new level of creepy that the World Serpent can't quite compete with. Personally, I would like to think a Pokemon based on the Vritra would be a Dragon/Dark type, but I'm sure you could reason out a different type combo if you want by going over its IRL lore while coming up with everything you need for it. Also, I just like the idea of a Pokemon in a Region that is so powerful that even in a weakened state it just can't be captured, to the point it can even force a Master Ball to outright fail, and thus force the protagonist to find a way to seal it away again; which would totally be on theme for a Horror-themed region, in my opinion. Then again, the Ultra Beast known as Guzzlord might take some inspirations from the Vritra, so there's a chance that even if you did make Vritra Pokemon and described it based on the Vritra's lore, chances are someone might leave a comment about it basically being a clone/knock off of Guzzlord, even if the design was completely different from that of Guzzlord.
@@TheLolgan Happy to help. Just remember a good horror piece gives you moments to breath or give some false hope to give a bit of a break from the horror. I'm aware of quite a few creatures in world mythology, some on the more obscure side on the world stage. Two of which I became aware in the past few years; for example, the Aralez from Armenian mythology (a Celstial canine with wings and the ability to revive fallen heroes by licking their wounds, I imagine a Pokemon based on it would be a Fairy/Flying type), and the Ramidreju from Spanish lore (it's described as a weasel-like creature with green fur and boar-like tusks on its snout; it's said to have the ability to Detect and Seek out Gold and Treasures, and its fur is described as a magical cure-all; I think it could be fun to make Pokemon based on it a Fairy/Ground type, mainly because I don't think we've seen that type combo really used yet). Also, the Kracken is from Scandinvaian lore, it no business being in a Greek setting, but that's Hollywood for you; in Clash of the Titans, the Kracken is replacing the Greek monster Cetus (which is also a constellation in night sky). Cetus is described as basically a whale with the head of greyhound; that is a surprisingly scary image, especially when you realize it's scaled to a whale's size.
The cobrage also resambles a lot Boitatá, a folcloric creature from brazilian culture, that is basicaly a snake without a head, and flames all over it's body. Maybe you could use it for inspiration on any design changes that may happen! @@TheLolgan

Liking this so far. Fear type as a name feels off though, since we have dark/ghost, and psychic's weaknesses are the 3 fears (dark ghost and bug). Otherwise, I think this will be an fun region to explore! Edit:A proposed change could be a simple name change to "??? Type, so it feels like something you should fear, rather than a similar. Could also play into how Curse was the only ??? Move.
I actually have been working on a region very similar to this, I even had a mummy-based fire starter myself. Nice designs btw (I'm not giving up my concept because someone else released their version first, so if you see it online, for the record, I've had this idea since 2021, but started working on it some time around January)
Could a pseudo Legendary be based on a horror Icon like Jason Voorhees? It could start off as a weak looking Ice type that has a hockey mask to hide its face and is the bottom of the food chain of Pokémon and is often picked on by their peers, but it can evolve by fainting in the water which causes it to turn into a more bigger shape as it will revive in your party as if drowning in the ocean caused it to grow bigger by freezing the water into its body. The final stage can be accessed by merely killing enough Pokémon to make it not to complicated to access but still in theme of Jason with it fully evolving into an Ice/Fear type. This Pokémon once fully evolved can chase the Pokémon and trainers that once looked down upon it and disappear into an icy mist to only drown them in the same lake it had in which it was reborn through pure spite and vengeance
The thing about snake-like pokemon and "height" is that the number shows how long it it, so Cobrage's "height" should be about 14-15 feet as it's shown to be coiled slightly. Also, Aractitan's silhouette doesn't quite look tall enough compared to the trainer because Isolock shows the trainer to be about 6'3" and the trainer looks to be 7'5" tall next to Aractitan.

There'll probably be one right about no-" Fire exploded from the treetops, a roar emerging so loud ___ had to cover their ears. _____ on the other hand, was perfectly fine with it. I'm very interested in seeing how this Keiho Region develops further since it will be horror-themed. The starters all look fantastic. Screef is calling for me, but the new fear typing that Pythember will get once it evolves is also grabbing my attention. I'm torn between the two starters, but I'm going with Pythember if only because I'm interested In learning more about the fear type. Consider me a new subscriber because this stuff looks promising. What would be interesting since its horror themed is that if you let your Pokemon faint to many times, the Pokemon not only refuses to listen to you, but turns on you in battle. Either the opposing Pokemon could kill it before it kills you or both could attack you. Whether or not the trainer can fight back, idk. Would be interesting if along with Pokemon power ups you could get defense items that just say ‘bat’ and it would be a metal or wooden base ball bat. It doesn't specifically say what it’s for in the description, just what it is physically. Depending on the Pokemon, the defense item might not work, and might even break depending on typing. Furthermore, the friendship levels could play a part in that you only have so many chances to not allow them to faint before they try to kill you. It could be that you just lose a heart after a certain amount of times until the friendship is just gone and the next time they faint in battle they turn on you.
Something else that could be interesting is to make the friendship pokeballs extremely rare/ extremely expensive cause everyone in this region is TERRIFIED of having their Pokemon try to kill them so everyone uses those kind of pokeballs specifically. Could even be a black market for them too. Would be interesting to have a few different people scattered around town that sell you fake friendship pokeballs for cheaper claiming their prices just can’t be beat. There could be one guy that actually has them super cheap and they’re real, but he’s incredibly hard to find in game. 1 in 99% chance of finding him and he looks just like the fakers. There could be a slight different in the friendship balls that you can tell their fake by, whether that be coloring or and extra line or something. If the player were to ask about it, they could say its this regions version of the pokeball (if the player would be a tourist and not from the area potentially. Would be funny if they were and you would get dialogue like ‘right….ricky and these dumbass knock off freindship pokeballs again….’)

I had a very different take on this same idea. The Horor region is a wild and hostile place when compared to the rest of the pokemon world, with trainers who end up there never being seen again. I also have two "unique" types for it: sound and felt types. Sound's self-explanatory, but felt type is associated with fabric/sewing (think Shuppet, Banette, Mimikyu, etc.). My starters are Embark (fire werewolf), Rottnyan (grass sabertooth zombie), and Dewte (newt tethered water type). the box legendaries are based on the headless horseman and long horse respectively. i made a kinda overpowered ultra beast based on SCP-682. The evil team is a full-on death cxlt and a whole lot more.
It’s cool how the shadows on the final eco for snake boi looks like tears of rage. I don’t know if that was intentional or not but it is cool
Super excited for more of this region, I already love horror, and I already love Fakemom, perfect combo, and I maybe only on the fire one, but I already love this artstyle and love the concepts (I hope a lot of ghost types aka my favorite one)

Idea for pseudo legend if you haven’t got one already!! So like, it could be a centipede, that’s also mixed with the vibes of an Iron Maiden, and the legs replace the spikes! Bug/fear or Bug/steel would both be good fits for it I think. This region is super super cool!!! Looking forward to seeing more !!

For the first time ever, I’m compelled to choose the grass starter, lmao, i always choose the fire type due to the early advantage to grass and such, excluding mudkip, because mudkip is the pinnacle of starter pokemon, and marshtomp is… uh…. Our special little man, and Swampert is soooooo friggin cool, but then you make this super frickin cool mega grass spider twice the size of a trainer, honestly it almost beats mudkip in terms of design!

The fire starter reminds me of the Vritra, a monster from Vedic and Hindu mythology. The Vritra is described as a colossal demonic serpent-like dragon that is so giant it can wrap around mountains. The Vritra is described as a creature that predates life on our planet; it was said to hold all the waters of the world in its stomach before they were cut out by literal gods as it fought them over the baren rock was our world before the waters fell down upon it; the Vritra is said to have a hunger so ravenous that it "Seeks to Swallow the Sky," which is a terrifying thought, a giant snake that seeks to consume all of creation. The Vritra is said to have vitality so great that a literal party gods could not kill it, so they had to seal it away in a place nothing can reach, in a powerful enchanted slumber. I imagine something based on this would be a Legendary or mythical in your Horror region, mostly due to the fact the Vritra ticks a lot horror boxes. It's an ancient primordial evil that can not be killed, it's demonic, it has a form that resembles a serpent in the creepiest ways possible, it's literally so massive it can't be ignored, and it has a literal insatable appetite for literally everything until there is literally nothing left. It's basically a manifestation of the Deadly Sin of Gluttony (Greed could probably work here too, but Gluttony seems more appropriate). And while other serpentine entities in world mythology are bigger in body size, such as Jormundandr from Norse mythology being big enough to wrap around the world, the fact the Vritra can literally coil around mountains, while also eating them in their entirety, is whole new level of creepy that the World Serpent can't quite compete with.
Personally, I would like to think a Pokemon based on the Vritra would be a Dragon/Dark type, but I'm sure you could reason out a different type combo if you want by going over its IRL lore while coming up with everything you need for it. Also, I just like the idea of a Pokemon in a Region that is so powerful that even in a weakened state it just can't be captured, to the point it can even force a Master Ball to outright fail, and thus force the protagonist to find a way to seal it away again; which would totally be on theme for a Horror-themed region, in my opinion. Then again, the Ultra Beast known as Guzzlord might take some inspirations from the Vritra, so there's a chance that even if you did make Vritra Pokemon and described it based on the Vritra's lore, chances are someone might leave a comment about it basically being a clone/knock off of Guzzlord, even if the design was completely different from that of Guzzlord.

@@TheLolgan Happy to help. Just remember a good horror piece gives you moments to breath or give some false hope to give a bit of a break from the horror. I'm aware of quite a few creatures in world mythology, some on the more obscure side on the world stage. Two of which I became aware in the past few years; for example, the Aralez from Armenian mythology (a Celstial canine with wings and the ability to revive fallen heroes by licking their wounds, I imagine a Pokemon based on it would be a Fairy/Flying type), and the Ramidreju from Spanish lore (it's described as a weasel-like creature with green fur and boar-like tusks on its snout; it's said to have the ability to Detect and Seek out Gold and Treasures, and its fur is described as a magical cure-all; I think it could be fun to make Pokemon based on it a Fairy/Ground type, mainly because I don't think we've seen that type combo really used yet). Also, the Kracken is from Scandinvaian lore, it no business being in a Greek setting, but that's Hollywood for you; in Clash of the Titans, the Kracken is replacing the Greek monster Cetus (which is also a constellation in night sky). Cetus is described as basically a whale with the head of greyhound; that is a surprisingly scary image, especially when you realize it's scaled to a whale's size.
The cobrage also resambles a lot Boitatá, a folcloric creature from brazilian culture, that is basicaly a snake without a head, and flames all over it's body. Maybe you could use it for inspiration on any design changes that may happen! @@TheLolgan

Liking this so far. Fear type as a name feels off though, since we have dark/ghost, and psychic's weaknesses are the 3 fears (dark ghost and bug). Otherwise, I think this will be an fun region to explore!
Edit:A proposed change could be a simple name change to "??? Type, so it feels like something you should fear, rather than a similar. Could also play into how Curse was the only ??? Move.
I actually have been working on a region very similar to this, I even had a mummy-based fire starter myself. Nice designs btw
(I'm not giving up my concept because someone else released their version first, so if you see it online, for the record, I've had this idea since 2021, but started working on it some time around January)
Could a pseudo Legendary be based on a horror Icon like Jason Voorhees? It could start off as a weak looking Ice type that has a hockey mask to hide its face and is the bottom of the food chain of Pokémon and is often picked on by their peers, but it can evolve by fainting in the water which causes it to turn into a more bigger shape as it will revive in your party as if drowning in the ocean caused it to grow bigger by freezing the water into its body. The final stage can be accessed by merely killing enough Pokémon to make it not to complicated to access but still in theme of Jason with it fully evolving into an Ice/Fear type. This Pokémon once fully evolved can chase the Pokémon and trainers that once looked down upon it and disappear into an icy mist to only drown them in the same lake it had in which it was reborn through pure spite and vengeance

The thing about snake-like pokemon and "height" is that the number shows how long it it, so Cobrage's "height" should be about 14-15 feet as it's shown to be coiled slightly. Also, Aractitan's silhouette doesn't quite look tall enough compared to the trainer because Isolock shows the trainer to be about 6'3" and the trainer looks to be 7'5" tall next to Aractitan.

Screef is calling for me, but the new fear typing that Pythember will get once it evolves is also grabbing my attention.
