I can say that Auriikaterina is a youtuber who cleans her subscribers depression houses for free. She does it as a kind deed and usually leaves a few cleaning supplies for them as well. She enjoys cleaning a lot, and says the dirtier the better. She also tells the person's story, but doesn't show their face. As someone who has had a small scale depression house, she's a bit of comfort for the soul. 💜

We water skied, swam, inner tubed, ate at fancy restaurants, got water pistols, ran thru the sprinkler, went to the carnival, the country club...The parents basically sponsored me having a beautiful summer vacation. i would have been helping with my brother and sisters at home if I hadn't been working for them. Sounds very familiar to the channels Al Bladez, Clean the City and one other that escapes me, but he's in the same area as the first two. They do lawns for free, (on the side of their paying day jobs of the same field). They do this to help those who needed it, be the person was real old or disabled, or just lost track of time for whatever xyz reason that does happen.
My husband follows these people, along with Blade Mate Lawn Care, (which is an Aussie channel), because he's a former horticulturist and he's of the same mindset of helping people who deserve it, and doesn't do entitlement. I think they've (the channels) even called people out for entitlement.

My very first babysitting gig was down the street for $1 an hour. I was eleven, had a kid brother so I was already the chosen free babysitter for my parents, knew how to change diapers and loved kids. It was fine but they had *5* kids, the youngest was a few months old. (Looking at you, Wise family!) I did this pretty regularly. The eldest boy was like 9 and did not care for being, 'babysat' but thankfully off on his bike most of the time. While there was no educational component- I guess more, 'just keep them alive', vibes, it was a lot of work. On the advice of my friend I hesitantly approached the mom and asked for a raise- wait for it- to $2 an hour. Stern-faced she replied that if I increased my rate she could no longer pay me. Like this was like 1988 but, oof. I found better families to work for. And hey in the end it led to my teaching career!
I have one 11 year old and I would never employ a young child or teenager to watch her, much less throw tutoring into the mix! Not fair to the kid or safe for any involved, lol

    • @shawnycoffman

My guess is they said preteen because they're the only ones dumb enough to think this is a good deal. What an absolute asshat!

@@teelakovacs208 $1 an hour for FIVE kids??? Even in 1988, that was slave labor! You should have been paid $1 per child, except maybe not the oldest one. Taking care of an infant is a huge responsibility and should have better compensation.
I'm glad you found better work, and happy that you became a teacher. The best teachers are ones who genuinely love children.
About 30 years ago I paid $75 a week for daycare, but I was bringing home less than $300 a week after taxes, so that was a big expense. There were some cheaper places, but I really liked this daycare, it was next door to the police department and the director had a master's degree in early child development and minored in psychology. She was wonderful!
My son was kidnapped at 14 months old and missing for almost a year, captive of a seriously mentally ill person who abused him. My son loved cops because he remembered his rescue, so he felt safe there. There was a wonderful detective at that P.D. who was assigned to his case when he was missing, and his dedication lead to him being found. The detective stopped in sometimes to say "hi" which was a huge comfort to me and my son.
If that daycare charged $100 a week, I would have found a way because his safety and well-being was my #1 priority. I often rode my bike to work to save gas money and carried bags on my bike to pick up recyclables.

But it was still weird that they trusted me, a little girl, to care for their infants and toddlers. When i was younger i was afflicted with this personality defect as well. At the risk of sounding vain, i knew that i was a little bit smarter than most people and felt i had an unfair advantage, so i would over compensate by footing the bill on group activities.
But when i fell on hard times, only a rare few were there for me.

Ahhhh... Photographer gets PAID to shoot their wedding?!?!! I can't! I started watching your videos during my rebuilding phase after I escaped DV. Life is different now and I run a nonprofit helping other victims and survivors. Oh do I have a story now... We get small donations to help if someone needs emergency shelter before a shelter opens, if a shelter isn't available, kennel expenses and even travel when needed. I had someone try and take my entire organization down because we would not approve $1500 so that she could fly a side boyfriend to her home while the husband was on a trip. Before anyone freaks, we had established that there was no abuse present. She openly admitted that she just didn't like her husband.

What a lot of responsibility for a preteen - even if the pay was good!
This is not only entitled, but an example of very poor parenting choices too. A pre-teen doesn't have the skills needed to either teach or protect 3 even younger children.

I've actually heard about this a few years ago. You would pay to feed cats or dogs while people went out of town. Typically though the people would live in a home people would travel to the area for vacation. For example say if I wanted to go Florida near the beach. I would find someone (on app or whatever) that is going on vacation the time I would and instead of me booking a hotel or air bnb I would "house sit" and pay. I would save money by not spending as much as a hotel or air bnb and the person would have someone to feed or walk their pet 2 times a day. It's not like you would have to spend the whole time in the house. They get a pet sitter I get affordable tooming for vacation.

I... I would watch a cleaning video xD The satisfaction of seeing a place really dirty get superclean is just *chefs kiss*. There are actually channels/lives where people do it for free but usually for people who are unable for any reason to do it themselves. It's just satisfying for me lol.

The person "waiting for a house cleaning routine from my father in Heaven" is saying they are waiting on God to schedule when they need to clean their house.

When I was a teenager in the 70s, I used to babysit for $1 an hour! But that was in the 70s! And it was mostly entertaining the kids for a couple of hours, getting them to bed, then watching TV till the parents came home. Not very stressful. And all the kids I babysat for were good kids, so it was fun.

Gurl, I'm a freelance illustrator, and since my teenage years, I was asked to do stuff for free, even by neighbors. IT'S A CURSE.
