How is the Sleep Mode for this Win 4? Say if you're in the middle of gameplay and need to pause and power down the device for a moment, can you resume gameplay later on?
Great Review, do you know which one have better performance between 7840u gpd win 4 model or the One x Fly 7840u, I'm seeking to buy one of those even the 8840u but it is a bit more expensive
The only reason holding me back is this device has a 60hz screen. I wish it can come with 120hz so I can play side scroll platformers at a high frame rates.
If you have Gamepass, can you test Madden 24 on this? I think I get slowdowns on my Ally due to the lack of RAM. Curious to see if 32GB and the new APU makes a difference.
Madden requires 10gb ram on the cpu side and 4 gb on the gpu side. The allys has 16gb and it splits it so there's 8gb for gpu and 8gb for cpu. So 32gb would be enough
It seems that it gives better FSR performance, but after spending 1800 at Droix for the 2023 version and the G1, I think I’ll hold off. Unless Droix will do a good trade in deal 😉
You can find them on their website, its on the "GPD OS Firmware" tab on the specific devices Download page. For example this is for the Win 4 2023 & 2024 www.gpd.hk/gpdwin42023firmwaredriver
Do you know anything about the 2025 version? I have the original Win4 with the 6800u chip and I was looking for a replacement battery since I used the hell out of it in 2 years. That's how I found they have a 2025 version up for order with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip. The 2023 and 2024 version with the 7000 and 8000 series chip were already better than my 6800u so that new HX 370 chip is really tempting for an upgrade to my whole device instead of just a new battery.
I would go ahead and order it. It's a massive jump over the 6800u. I have the 8840u and I wish I would have waited, but I'm happy with mine nonetheless.
@@rhoadeswr1 I did. And it should ship next week too. The boost in performance was already very tempting but another thing that made me go ahead and order it is the Oculink port. The 6800u doesn't have it and I have the G1 eGPU, It works decent over USB4 but I found a video comparing the performance difference. It easily made games go from 55fps to 65+. The game I saw with the biggest difference was the remake of Last of Us. It went from 45fps to 65fps just from changing connection. Once I get my new one I will probably spend the first few days just testing games on both to see the difference. How much higher is the framerate on the 2025 at the exact same settings will be fun to test but I also want to see how low I can put the TDP before I reach the same level of performance as the 6800. I feel like the 6800 never really had the option between performance or battery life when it comes to big games like Cyberpunk.
