Ooooohh I did see the win mini, and it does look great. As I say I really wanted to love the win 2 and the win mini really comes close to the win 2. I'm tempted but I think I'm content with the win 4 for now
Bro how do you not have hundreds of thousands of subscribers? I keep looking at your channel and I love your videos and they’re awesome. How is it that you only have that many subscribers? It doesn’t make any sense
As someone who bought the original Gpd win back in the day for its portability, I'm really glad that the company have also kept gamers wanting form factor in mind because the other handheld gaming PC's are simply too huge for my liking. To this day I still can't believe how sharp the little 720p screen looks on that machine I have and given that the 4 is only half an inch bigger I don't doubt that 720p will still look good on that size, and the added ability to go 1080p will come in very handy for some of the older games that will still run really smoothly. Very tempted to grab one of these for the sheer amount of power it has for something that could fit into my pocket. Definitely could see myself playing Crusader Kings, Dead Rising, modded Fallouts and Elder Scrolls on it and a bunch of other games from the last 5 or so generations as well as emulators. That kickstand was also a very nice touch. Well done!
Still love the gpd win 1s design the most. The size and screen ratio was great. I didnt need a screen protector because of the clam shell. Just loved it and I miss her T^T
Great device I agree that in order for something to be considered a handheld it has to be portable. I think if it had an Oled screen and 120hz I would buy.
As much as I agree. there's a lot of factors to consider to the manufactorers. * Is it cost effective to build something so expensive? For a normal laptop you're looking around £1500+ * Is there an immediate demand for it? is it worth it for these manufactorers to make it, knowing they may get a small margin back * Specs may get outdated and people may just want a more powerful device (albeit not having OLED or 120hz screen) * Manufactorers also have to contend with making it portable means it will be harder to dissipate heat resulting in bad performance.
Nice review, I've also been enjoying my Win 4! but the Deck can definitely play Epic and GOG games via Heroic launcher, and other launchers. Of course, it won't have perfect compatibility, but it works fine.
@@LeftyPencil I tested bazzite on my Win Mini and Win Max 2 and while I like that it offers a near identical experience to the Steam Deck, there are some bugs that need to be ironed out and the lack of frame generation and eGPU support makes me gravitate towards Windows
i've ordered the 7840u model with 64gig of ram and 4tb of storage, can't wait for it to arrive! how hot does it get when you're playing a AAA game? i have an old GPD win 1 and that used to get HOT when running something like overwatch or skyrim
So what did you think of it? I do love my device, but those damn joysticks are next to useless. The update they came out with did help, but still, not great.
yup, its the 6800U. lol compared to the older Win 2, this is a tad more quiet. But I agree it does get hot. I've had it for the past year and it does get toasty on the right side where the extra back buttons are.
I had mini4 nice device, but ergonomics not so great for longer play, and device at back can warm up hands if tdp higher than 15. Interesting how good mini will be.
11:44 Man, F them! 😂 How you play should be how you see fit, not what others believe you should play a game. There’s no rule either, if you want to play on a portable handheld, do it. It’s incredible that we have devices like this, that pack enough power in a small handheld allowing us to play big AAA titles to indies ad ofc emulators like RCPS3. I’m looking into these PC handhelds. Reason being was because I forgotten how great it is to use a portable handheld. I’m not trying to get into PC as my main platform since my online buds don’t wanna jump ship from PS5 so I resorted to looking into these PC handhelds. This just might be the one but while I do have the money to blow, ehhh I don’t know how to feel about spending $800+ on this. At that point I might as well look into building a PC but I want a PC handheld 🤔
Lol for sure, play how you like! Ye, i've always wanted a portable gaming machine that does everything! But as you say, at an extortionate price, it's definitely something you need to think twice about. But for those that want a similar experience thats not gunna totally destroy your bank account, i'd say start with a Steam Deck; they're always dropping in price, its a lot more available and its less than half the price of the GPD, granted its bigger, but definitely something to start off with
Lol, I do try to wipe the screen especially when filming. Guess I didn't get all the smudges out. Also can be a little dusty in my room of filming. As for the thumbsticks, I do actually mention I've used thumbsticks when using the Win4. There's probably a few shots I didn't have them on, but thats only because I want to show what you get out of the box. I've also included a link to which thumbsticks I use in the description

I guess it comes down to how you're going to use this product. Are you a going to be using this more than just gaming and need that requires more resource? For me, I think 32GB is more than enough for day to day tasks and gaming.
@@mikeys_youtube_makes for me, it's a gaming product first and foremost with lots of emulation use and tinkering on testing ROMs for still developing Emulators. I'd like something that can last at 7+ years for on the go portability and I'm wondering if that extra amount of RAM could make up for its lack of top tier graphical capabilities through brute force.
@@blaster915 I see, in which case you may want to hold out for something a bit more powerful. I would say at the moment we're at the start of portable gaming pc's (definitely with the help of the steam deck to drive it) , so I don't think they're at its full potential quite yet. I think the bottleneck would be the gpu, unless you add a egpu to it, but it kinda defeats the purpose of having a portable pc.
How long did it take you to properly program each emulator to correspond with the proper buttons and control? That's the only thing I'm dreading, I wish there was something that would automatically detect and set. I got Win4 too and just ordered a 4tb NVMe from LEVEN the JP600 appears to be single sided and has a removable heatsink so perfect fit and size at the price of $149 on Amazon. At the beginning of the Video you mentioned the importance of Internet Connectivity but you didn't bring up the USB-C 4G LTE model, which doesn't make sense if you're going to compare it to the Steam Deck because then they're both limited to WiFi only connection. I'm satisfied with I have it on metro by T-Mobile with a unlimited $15 a month Tablet data plan.
To you first question about controller mapping. I use launchbox and set everything to use retroarch. So I think you'd just need to configure your buttons once in retroarch and you would not need to touch it again. Obviously there are emulators that retroarch does not support, and for that you'd need to configure it yourself. But it's only a small number of emulators
