I own a 1941 Type 82 Kubelwagon. I am not an RC car enthusiast and stumbled across this by mistake. The detail of this model is mind-blowing. The original vehicle is rear wheel drive while it's amphibious version was 4 wheel. Only one tail light and one mirror would have been on the original. It's worth your time to take a look at period pictures. I would love to see one modified to war time detail. Thank you for posting this video.
A great review of a great product. I have super detailed mine , I have added a driver and passenger and their kit. I have also weathered the Kubelwagen to represent a vehicle in action.
Hey Greg, found a good trick for realistic driving with these touchy controllers. A small piece of foam glued behind and above the trigger with zero clearance, then reset the throttle trim if necessary.👍
Hey Greg... got both the Willys and the Kubelwagen - great indeed! Willys is 4WD and the Kubelwagen is a limited slip drive system! Subscribed my friend...
LOL, It was all the neat features that this car has that really caught my eye and hard to get a closer look. Cool stuff here that will hopefully raise the bar.
When they sold this thing it was nicknamed the thing in the United States it was rear-wheel drive only I don't know if the military ones were four wheel drive it's funny that it's got portal in the rear and cvds up front no portals.
I think it doesn't have portal hubs on the front wheels because the real Kubelwagen was a two wheel drive and they wanted the front suspension to look more scale, being a 2wd the real one had portal on the rear wheels only.
@@boldrbangr9834 yeah I think so and the swimnwagen was 4wd too, they also made a military Beetle with 4wd (the kommanderwagen) but I think the 4wd didn't have portals so if I'm right the RC might be based on the 2wd kübelwagen, i should do my research though!!!
I would never let it just sit in the shelf I would rotate it like I do all my other cars and just play with them and not let them sit in the shelves very long depending on how many I have could take a while to get back to them but they're not going to sit for me to stear at.
@@adtjtjdjsj I clearly stated in the video that this car is not my specialty and I did the best I could with it. Your expectations are completely unrealistic. I don’t correct my German friends when they mispronounce names here in the US unless they ask. I simply respect their efforts.
It does. But I don’t have any action figures that fit and the 3 stores I went to didn’t have any. Guess action figures are a good gift this holiday season
Good luck getting spare parts for all that breaks on them. Who do you think will have spare parts for them besides China ? Lol I'll hope our landfills aren't filled with them in the future ? 🤐
Well we bought one and it lasted about 5 minutes before the servo died in our living room doing almost nothing. Now they want us to pay for shipping to get the car replaced??? Thanks! This is your warning. This company is hard to deal with. I will be in touch with a follow up report. BUYER BEWARE!!!!
Finally a break through. We have received a refund for our Kubblewagon and got to keep the free Cheyenne. So it took a while but we were taken good care of. But beware they never did come up with directions to replace the steering servo.

It can actually switch in and out of four wheel drive
Never been an RC guy, until now. This thing is absolutely a must to have.

These are beyond impressive. This and the beetle with selectable 4wd, and also the Willy’s jeeps just boggles my mind. I want them all haha
I helped Frances with his video driving. This thing is Siick.
Das WUNDERBAR, danke Greg👍
I've been wanting a Kübelwagen forever. This will be so cool with the willys. I guess I know where my paycheck is going this week
As a huge ww2 enthusiast this is right up my street
Wow! Just wow! This thing is amazing!

we back to 1942 i l😘ve classic vehicle and wars good video👍
It looks good it looks like it came right Out of Hogan's heroes It should have German cross on the door👍🛻
It's a very nice German jeep car!~ I think it's a precise model with high completeness.~~~^^
Dude you are reviewing ROCHobby stuff?!? Well done Greg. I really like the FMS Jimmy too!
Hey Greg... awesome car
Have a great weekend mate Cheers 👍

The "thing" You didnt recognise at the front Above the headlamp is a War Time Blackout Running Light!
awesome looking rig!
Oh man that looks good
$299.00 on amazon. Excellent vehicle!
Wow!! Almost like (Hogan's Heroes) that has a little piece of history for this car. (B+)
Nice video
Cool little truck not sure if would.buy one but maybe...never know👍
The original vehicle was 4x4 in 1st gear and reverse only, history geek here, its a beautiful model the hidden RC amazing
That is incorrect. Only the amphibious kubelwagens had four wheel drive. Apart from the prototype 4wd kubels
@@86Hilux22R You mean the schwimmwagen
i was excited to see a thumbnail of this from you, also at the same time, damn it! another useless to me rc that I want
LOL, It was all the neat features that this car has that really caught my eye and hard to get a closer look. Cool stuff here that will hopefully raise the bar.
Nice
Wowwww that’s cool 😎
All you have needed is a 1/12 scale German Army Driver
I believe the portal axle ratio is 1:1, so no reduction setup needed for power to front.
Ah, possibly. I was a little intimidated to tear this one down and there wasn’t a parts breakdown to refer to.
@@rcdriver its kübelwagen, NOT kubelwagon
muy buen juguete
The narrow tires, just like on my BMW i3 😂😂😂
When they sold this thing it was nicknamed the thing in the United States it was rear-wheel drive only I don't know if the military ones were four wheel drive it's funny that it's got portal in the rear and cvds up front no portals.
Buddy of mine had a Thing. From the little I read the German version had the four wheel drive option.
May I know which is better at off road, this or the fms 1/12 willy
I so want one of those but dang does it need a bigger capacity battery.
Hey it's missing the coil to distributor cable!
Portal boxes could have same sized gears.
I can't believe it's rear-wheel drive with portal axles.
Certainly an interesting set-up!
Wie feuer ist der kübelwagen t 82
I'd run it with my trail trucks on the nature trails
I think it doesn't have portal hubs on the front wheels because the real Kubelwagen was a two wheel drive and they wanted the front suspension to look more scale, being a 2wd the real one had portal on the rear wheels only.

Its a really good model, but why add Rochobby no Cover on this Model. It's a detail that i missed.a folded cover was enough.
You missed the fact that this can be switched from 4WD to 2WD too. An absolutely stunning model overall.
18:26 ... He clearly states it can be switched from 2WD to 4WD by holding the 4th channel button down.
Wow very scale
What about the german soldiers figures?
Agree this is a fairly useless RC....but too cool! Had to order one.

1/12?
C' mon Greg, top 3 RUclips reviewers and you don't get the new Maxx, hellooo @Traxxas
Awwww Greg, you shudda put a driver figure in it instead of the ghost 👻 driver, grrrrrr 😡 lol 😝
It's Kübelwagen, not kjugel-wagOn
So… do you want a cookie?

he got 3 speed and you can switch on only rw!!!
Kübelwagen not Kubelwagen 😉👍
It looks kinda stupid without a driver in the drivers seat. Should have thrown a GI Joe in there.
It does. But I don’t have any action figures that fit and the 3 stores I went to didn’t have any. Guess action figures are a good gift this holiday season
