Wow! I'm blown away, being a VW guy. That thing actually has legit twin-beam torsion axle in front and IRS out back, just like a full-scale Beetle. (Although IRS wasn't 'till 1967, it's a better choice than swing-axle)
The attention to detail is incredible on these cars!! And Sarah-Jane Smith!! Had a massive crush on her when she was the Doctors assistant, back in the day!! 🤗👍🏻
Official release is tomorrow (14th). Links should work by then). I noticed a few early released videos so thought I better jump on the bandwagon this time around! (I got left behind on the last one lol)
@@RCKickschannel Yeah, I noticed earlier today that FMS put a little 'sneak peak' on their FB Page, then a Chinese channel put the official video out... and then The RC Kiwis released theirs, so i thought I better join the Early Squad! I was last on the Kubelwagen I think... by about 24hrs haha
Absolutely Brilliant model Phil! Gotta say, I don’t see people leaving this one alone. It’s definitely got a “mod bod”. The 4wd just makes it even more bad ass! Detail is top notch! I know I’ll be late to this party though at almost $270 beans! Great review Mr Phil!☕️☕️Cheers brother!
I seen this on olive rc's channel roc hobby really are second to none when it comes down to the little details, hope you and Susan enjoy the rest of your night 😉
FMS/Rochobby have some of the best quality scale options I've seen! I have the grey Land Cruiser, and although I stripped out a one of the transmission gears (it isn't a manufacturer defect, it was completely my fault), it's incredibly capable and super well made!
This Model is really scale. Even the arrangement of the additional shiftable front wheel drive. Okay the original speed decresed from 75 down to 10 km/h. So you better not get under fire while climbing a hill😁. One thing they missed is an s. In correct german it's named Kommandeurswagen.😉 Meaning the car of a commander. Without the s it means that the car is the commander. Might be a theme for a transformer film🤔. Hope they'll do a civil after-war version sometime in the nearer future, we'll probably see many customized Herbies. Thanks for your presentation Tomley👍
In fact the other mistake besides the missing s is that the Kommandeurswagen is the type 87. The 82e was indeed 2WD only. But if that's all they did wrong on this beautiful model, they did a darn good job. Mine is hopefully arriving in the next days. :-)
excellent details. i am really amazed by this. let me share this to our vw group. need to save up for this. i know this wouldn’t be cheap. if only this came out with “wpl-like” prices then we wouldn’t hesitate hoarding this and do various mods to the body. thanks phil 👍🏻😀🍻
Very nice model, nice to see FMS putting out great models! however..... I must point out some mis-information.... The Type-82e is called a "Staff Car" or "Geländekäfer" and it was built on the high clearance Type-82 Kübelwagen Chassis which is 2WD with a self locking diff. The higher specification "Kommandeurswagen" is Type-87 which uses the front axle of the Type-166 Schwimmwagen which is 4WD with self locking ZF diffs front and rear. But It also has 5cm wider fenders, wider tyres , cow hide interior and a sunroof. The Kommandeurswagen were either 2 or 3 seat versions (not more) so if a secretary sat in the rear (left), in an emergency could step up (right) onto a solid panel to then climb out of the sun-roof. No Type-82e had a sunroof because that was the 2WD version of the Kommandeurswagen called the Type-92. On that note the Type-92e "Holzbrenner" was the wood fueled version with overland roof rack. Now lets all hope that FMS bring out more great models such as a fully functioning amphibious Type-166 :-)
Woww...non ci posso credere ...finalmente il modello giusto che aspettavo da tempo ...grazie Tomley di averlo presentato ... bellissimo è molto realistico ... ciao dall'Italia
Ok I will do the rivet thing , If it's a T82E it's a Geländekäfer and 2wd ,if it's a T87 Kommandeurswagen it was 4wd,they came with the slide canvass roof and widened arches to fit those off road tyres.
I know a man who would love this, hey Keldon Raven! In 2wd and high gear on a flat smooth surface does it have enough punch to drift ??? Because that would be awesome ! Speed run on hi and low, 2wd and 4wd .... Can't wait to see more of this! If you do ever want to move it on, please put me on the list !
The ground clearance is correct also not fourwheel drive, but the gearing was changed to get a lower speed in first for mud and snow the sand colour was never used. The 87 Kublewagen underpinnings was used minus front wheel drive.
Check your facts man, this is indeed based on a 4x4 Beetle and shared the same platform as the Type 166 Schwimmwagen. This is a legit replica of an actual vehicle.
Actually the beetle itself wasnt awd, yet the kommandeurwagen was. this is what i found: What is a Kommandeurswagen? It was produced from 1941 to 1944 by the Volkswagen plant, primarily for high officers of the Wehrmacht (German armed forces). The Wehrmacht classified the Kommandeurswagen as leichter geländegängiger PKW, 4-sitziger, 4-radgetriebener Geländewagen Typ 87. (ik something about beetles aka "bugs" since we own few of them)
Your figure's called Sarah Jane and waiting to see how long before one of these gets a Herbie paint job! But have to say I soooo want one of these! Top video as always buddy!
i consulted my gf about the Dr Who figure - it's Mary Jane, and not Susan. lol either way, what an awesome little nugget of a Bug! something cool to putt around on the carpet with
Love it love it! Oopsssss just read its out tommorrow. Lol had to remove my complaint. Anyhow... Love your channel! Keep up the great work. I hope its a reasonablprice. My even be close to scale with my HG 8X8 Hemet. Have a pint fo me and a tea at tea time. Find fig formosa loose leaf tea. Its the best with just a bit o sugar!
The real one was 4wheel drive! So that model is designed after the real one! With realistic features just like the real original! I think is very cool!
Did you not see the tiny engine in the back? If you're talking an actual petrol engine, then I think that's beyond the modest price range of this model
FMS / ROC Hobby is really stepping up their game, now we just need a fully amphibious schwimmwagen to become a full circle
They are… and I’m sure they have plenty more to come!
Haha shvimvargen is goot!

The figure is of Sarah-Jane Smith from the Dr Who range Phil. That VW is really good looking and seems to perform pretty well too.
This is definitely a must have for me! And your figure is Sara Jane Smith.

You and Gavin almost simultaneously...
Yes I noticed this went early so I jumped on it as mine was scheduled for tomorrow.

You're such a shill for ROC HOBBY! Don't worry, so am I!
Nice looking beetle. Looked even better out of the box. 👍🏼
The Details on this are fantastic, down to the reduction boxes. Super cool !
It's Sarah from Dr Who.
Great rc model. Brilliant detail.
Oh and they did come out in 4x4 .
Just need a 1/6 version now!!
Yes!
Incredible detail. The blackout light was a type made by Notek.

Bloody love this. An early Beetle is the holy grail, but a Kommandeurwagen is proper WWII overlanding.

They did a good job building this a real hobbyist builder
I agree
Original one is actually 4wd.
Looks awesome.

It's like a surprising video crawler!
Susan's skin tone matches the paint scheme to a tee! 👍👏
I just told a friend I didn't have any projects that I was working on, then this comes along! Gotta do a Herbie version!
😎👌
Gorgeous car! Incredible detail and a really fun choice of model to make

You did a thorough review as usual. The scale detail is excellent.
OMG! I just saw official FMS FB page going to release this and you've got it? Man!!! That's awesome 🤩
What a great RC
You you did a good job unboxing and testing it for all of us👍
Thanks
Ok gotta admit this is one of the coolest litte rc cars I've ever seen.
How cow Batman , the scale details are amazing , she is a beaut
Fantastic video, I think I prefer the Kubelwagon though. Be cool to see if anyone adds a sound module to these
I own a real 1952 split window zwitter , so I’m definitely going to get my hands on this !
Nice!
It´s really hard to not love the looks of that one, now we just neeed one in the original red civil color or blue one :D
I have a spare body that I will be doing a few mods to 🤟
Cool ride! Love the nose dive!!
Roc hobby are just the best when it comes to detail.
Susie Quattro, lol 👍
Yes, they are killing it 👌

Now this is one I'd act6realky love to have. Just to use it once in a blue moon.
I have a spare body, may go Satin black, wide wheels.. and a few guns. Mad Max style 👌

Have literally beat mine to pieces filming ridiculous stuff. So good.😅😅
Watched it on OLIVE RC channel this morning.
Redcat needs to really take heed to what real detailing looks like..So small and so many features 👍

Looking forward to seeing that.
Farfaneugen !! ( will soon see) 👍
What a sweet little car, Tomley! Really nice! 😃
Great review as always!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Really awesome
We certainly hope Suzan will become co-host one day ;-p
Awesome, don't need to watch the video! Sold! Want it. Now to watch video anyway, great Phil!!😃
It's much much better than the actual vw I had. I think it has more hp!
Haha
The room in that thing for ott mods 👌
Not a beetle guy myself but no denying that thing looks awesome👍
That's Sarah Jane Smith played by Elisabeth Sladen. Early 70's Dr Who. I was 10 and starting to get funny feelings when she was on...
Next get the Universal Motorgerät "Unimog" ;-)
That vw looks incredible 😎🙌🏼🙌🏼, thank you for the video 🙌🏼, keep up the great content 😎👌🏼
Trailing arms Phil, trailing arms. This is a real gem 💎 of an RC, I’d love one but can’t afford one, maybe one day from eBay lol 😂
Man that's pretty awesome I would so have to Herbie that think it would look epic as a classic 🤘😎👍
I'm pretty sure Volkswagen did make a 4WD version of the Beetle during WII for a staff car.
Now that is NICE.
That's pretty impressive!
I have a spare body set… might do a Mad Max style, with wider wheels etc…
@@TomleyRC Yes. Very much approve!

Its the twin window too.
Amazing work from ROChobby again. beautiful detail. One question though, the OG is a convertible, can this one's top come off? roll back? fold back?
It looks fixed, but i haven’t looked properly
Just checked it out on the FMS site and it says the roof is removable
**Machine gun aimed at beetle** 😂😂😂 beauty scale rig!

I'm hoping they would make more casual cars, I need them for my figures.
The real Kommanduerwagens were 4x4, but they also had locking hubs.
